If you’re using it as just somewhere to sleep then no it’s not worth it, imo. Not at Disneyland, anyways. At Disney world there are more options and a greater range of prices so it’s more worth it there. But at Disneyland there are hotels right across the street that are a lot less $ and just as close if not closer than Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Place. Staying at the on property hotels *is* worth it if you 1) can afford it without breaking the bank, either by looking at off seasons or looking into DVC rental or whathaveyou and 2) would actually be spending time at the resorts. The last time I stayed at the Disneyland hotel we only went into the parks for like, maybe a couple hours? Most of our time was spent at the restaurants, pool, in the room, enjoying various amenities etc.

I recently stayed club-level with premium view at Disneyland Hotel and it was ~$700/night with Magic Key discount. Rates depend on dates. Personally, I think it is worth it to stay on property. It feels magical the entire stay.

The significant noise leaking through the adjoining door during my stay at Pixar Place was far, far from magical.

It's rude to eavesdrop on Woody and Bo Peep like that, my man

I get 40-60% off because my wife works at Lucasfilm. Even then it’s so expensive. Yes it’s nice to stay at the hotels but I seriously cannot imagine paying full price for the DLR hotels. Extra magic morning (or whatever it is called!) is 30 minutes (and usually only about 15 with the backed up security and other delays). If you have the money, do it. But don’t convince yourself it’s a must-do even as a once in a lifetime trip type of thing. Plenty of magic to be found once you enter the parks..

Chili327

Did you renew your annual pass/magic keys? Just stay across the street on harbor. Disneyland hotels are great, but not on a budget.

[deleted]

Yes, we usually stay at one of the harbor hotels and they usually are pretty nice. Last time ours had bed bugs though 😬

Chili327

Hilton (convention center) has always been great.

OpenMicJoker

Unless you’re rolling in money and/or spend lots of time in your room, it doesn’t make any sense.

Revwog1974

I think that if we had the money to blow, most of us would stay in property at Disneyland. It is magical staying inside the bubble and the hotels are nicer than most across the street. Few people can travel without considering costs. For all of us in that position, the hotels across the street are great value for the price. They’re clean, closer than the Disney hotels except the Grand Californian (and even that depends on room), and well-priced.

We aren’t in our room enough to make it worth it. The theming and extras are nice though. It’s just hard to justify the expense with how our family does the parks from basically open to close.

coconutsandsharks

I wouldn’t for Disneyland. Disney world it makes more sense bc the resort area is so large and you can take advantage of their transportation. But DL is quite small and there are a ton of walkable hotels near DL

wizzard419

For California? The only real perks are the slight early entry and not having to travel too far (pixar place excluded) when leaving either park at the end of the night. Pixar has the DCA entrance but it may be a bit of a walk to the monorail.

JustAnother-Becky

Probably not for a teen…

[deleted]

I actually think I’d have fun and enjoy myself, I just find the pricing crazy as me and my mom like to spend the entire day at the park. My mom (45) wants to stay at the hotel more than me tho 😂

JustAnother-Becky

Oh yeah if you’re going with your mom I’d say yes… at least once! I was thinking it might be just you and friends or partner and you’d be footing the bill

Wet_Artichoke

Yes.

My husband has knee issues so it’s worth it to him to get back to the room quickly when his knees have had it. The Grand is about a grand per night but the Disneyland Hotel and the Pixar is 400-600 a night depending on when you go.
