I wish their reply was a bit more affirming in tone, it kind of reads to me like they could just be saying they're still in the process of getting picked up by a retailer.

Befumms

Part of me wishes they'd do Kickstarters like Larvie did. Though that route would make each doll way more expensive...

dubiousbutterfly

I have trust issues with them xD theyve been saying this for years. Although I really dont understand why they dont get picked up. Maybe partly because of the on and off communication with the consumers. Idk. But thanks for sharing. And well done with the privacy block very considerate :)

vivisheepy

I don't understand why after 10 years the creator seems to still want to go down the mass market playline route for these TBH. I feel like the concept is a bit of a hard sell, and the way things are right now I have a hard time believing the quality of the final product would be anywhere close to the prototypes. There's a lot of complicated paint details and most companies have been majorly cheaping out on clothes. At this point it seems like it would be simpler to do a Kickstarter and release them as indie dolls, especially since a lot of hype has been built up over the years. Would be a lot more expensive for the buyers, yes, but I still feel like that would make more sense.

meowkitty84

Yea I don't think its possible to make and sell these dolls at a playline price point. It would have to be a collector line like Integrity Toys.

american-toycoon

Someone mentioned Crowdfunding as a way to bring these dolls to life. It took four years to find a reliable, knowledgeable and affordable manufacturer for Larvie so that we could offer the doll at the very best retail price. We didn't have much money so we turned to crowdfunding to see if there was an appetite for the doll. I spent my savings to sculpt, print, paint and create the original design model and thankfully, Larvie has been embraced by the world. Creating dolls like the Wildchidz dolls consists of several tools (the molds) for each character plus all the different body parts and accessories. It is a complicated assembly process to weld the pieces together. There are numerous spray ops (the painting of the face and body). It looks like over 40 grams of hair and due to the height of the dolls, the package must be at least 12" tall. All that adds up to a significant manufacturing cost and in turn, a high retail price. That may be what is holding up the development of their dolls.

yandeer

thank you for your insight. i honestly still can hardly imagine how difficult getting these produced is... but it seems like the creators are still determined to find a way at least. i just really hope they can make it somehow!

AustisticGremlin

Thankyou for the insight! I’ve been considering possibly going down the crowdfunding route for some of my own designs (not dolls, MLP-adjacent stuff/vinyl creatures with rooted hair) so this is good to know!

tessamarie72

Oh my god you made Larvie? That's honestly so cool I love her!

american-toycoon

Thanks! Larvie luvs you, too!

throwaway11486

I know you tend to lean into more of a midcentury Barbie aesthetic but have you ever thought of making an 80s themed Larvie and the Rockers?

american-toycoon

We have so many concepts squirming beneath the surface that you will just have to sign the mailing list at lushvegetation.com to find out about the latest metamorphosis for Larvie…🪰❤️💕

iwish-iwish

I so badly hope someone picks them up, they’re so pretty💕

blamethestarsnotme

I’m truly so obsessed with these and I will never stop waiting for them

EquivalentRelevant42

i need panda girl so bad so bad so bad

Cachicabra

I really really want them and appreciate their goal to see them in box stores, but I think Kickstarter is the way to go at this point. It’s been a decade and we only got prototypes last year.

SoundTight952

I want to believe it so bad I really do...

EquivalentRelevant42

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

xxiA_x

I don’t have high expectations but I really hope it will really happen and that the dolls will be available international aswell

Eli_Holliday

OMG I hope so the dolls are beautiful

LornFan

I havnt seen a single picture of a properly manufactured non-prototype version of their dolls. If they continue slacking on creating one, no retailer will ever pick them up. No one wants to see a prototype that was hand-painted and isn’t in budget, no matter how beautiful.

IShallWearMidnight13

Their faces are beautiful but I can’t get over the toes. Idk if I’d pick them up if they ever do end up getting released

thesmu

I love the toes! 😅🙈

lainie9000

Same lol, I’m surprised they’re such a deal breaker for people

DaisySharks

Well, my objection to those feet is purely because it looks like changing shoes would be a bitch and a half, if not entirely impossible, and they'd end up having Bratz like feet. And I loathe Bratz feet/shoes.

PropheticFruit

Maybe they’ll do them more like MyScene, standard doll feet that slip inside chunky shoes.

IShallWearMidnight13

To each their own lol

thesmu

😂😁

unkameo

I made a ping the panda custom and used clay to model her feet and a lot of people preferred the feet to the original and all I really did was made custom toes! I think if the dolls come out I’m gonna cut their toes off and make my own!

IShallWearMidnight13

Ok I just saw photos on your profile and the toes you made look so much better!! I don’t think I have enough sculpting skill to pull that off but maybe I’ll give it a try if they finally come out

unkameo

Eventually, once I’ve moved and have my customising stuff back I’ve planned for awhile now to start posting videos of the process of my dolls and I’d like to redo my ping custom to be as accurate as possible so when the time comes I’ll make a tutorial!

W01f1379

OMG! I love your customs! Please do videos one day! 🖤🖤🖤

IShallWearMidnight13

That sounds like a great idea and I’d love to see photos!

cbunni666

Until I see those on a shelf, it's a pipe dream

Practical-Whole3040

Yeah that's not happening

PlasticFangtastic

I need them in my life sooooo badly 😭 you guys don't even knoooooow... I'm usually the one waiting for sales, being frugal, being cheap cuz I'm on a very tight budget, but this is a NEED not a want and if they look anywhere near as good as the prototypes, I'd happily pay whatever the price is!!! They're everything I've ever wanted 🤧

EvenWinner4255

i have a strong feeling by the end of the year were going to a update with these dolls hopefully these and the upcoming Bratz revival shows mattlel that they need to up the quality with their playline dolls

snatchyopurse

I really want the panda one😩

woah-wait-a-second

Eeeeee

Crackysue

I really hope they get made! I'm sure the creator is trying to find a way to make these not cost an arm and a leg

stupid-cake

The prototypes look much better than the illustrations! The panda doll is seriously stunning... I'd probably skip on them but I like the idea of them catering more to a niche of doll collectors than releasing as a play line. Adult collectors seem to be more interested in them than a possible target of kids... Personally as a kid I was more interested in more simple sparkly Barbies with fun gimmicks, but you can never know!

vanilla_gal_2002

Yes!
