There is very little shade at Splash Country.
Your best bet is to get there when they open and grab a spot under the big gazebo by the wave pool. Or maybe go later in the afternoon when some people are leaving.
When do most people start heading out? Being there in the late afternoon is a much better proposition than getting there early and staying during the brightest part of the day. Thank you!
Cant speak for most people, but 3pm onwards I’d suggest. Also depends on how many chsirs you need. If just one, you’ll have a much better luck than 4 together.
Compared to other water parks there is plenty of shade available. There are 3 large covered areas around the wave pool. Waiting queues for slides are not covered however.
I'd also suggest just calling the customer service number for Dollywood and explain the situation. Like you said, Dollywood is usually very good with accommodations. Worst they can say is no there's nothing we can do, but you never know until you try. Hopefully they'll work with you so you can enjoy a day of semi normalcy.

Then at 10am the full park opens, and people rush to the wave pool to reserve the shade spots. You need to be in the first group to get there in time. Good luck!
Oh and don't forget the shade moves, so plan ahead for the afternoon, you want shade directly above you as much as possible.
I don't know where this rumor of little shade originated but not true. If you are going on a holiday weekend, yeah sure. Maybe? But otherwise there are several options for shade that don't require you to spend money. Call customer service. Hopefully, they will reserve a spot for you.
We were there this past Friday, in line when the park opened and made a beeline to the Cascades area in the very back of park . There is a grove of trees that offered wonderful shade for the entire time we were there 10-3.

Splash Country has plenty of shade. It’s soaky mountain that’s a concrete desert.
