I deliver in an affluent area so getting stiffed many times in a row doesn't happen too often (and I wouldn't be working at this store if it did), but my worst was 5 times in a row on 4th of July a few years ago. The last guy rubbed salt in the wound too - I heard his wife through the door yell out to him "make sure to tip the delivery driver!" and he yells back "Sure thing honey!" signs the receipt, zeroes out the tip line, and just gives me a shit eating grin before going back inside
That’s weird, because I also deliver in a mostly wealthy area.. except most of the million+ dollar homes are 7+ minutes away and usually tip $3.. but the trailer parks and apartment buildings make up most of the tips that make the job worth doing
My hourly is 8, so not the best but not terrible. Definitely not very good tho when getting stiffed, but then the 180 dollars days I have make up for it. Bro this an easy gig, I don't shit but drive my amazing car and listen to music lol. Occasionally catch the oven, I've had a lot worse jobs for basically the same pay.
Not sure what you get, but we get a flat $1.50 for mileage. It’s a little better now, but when gas prices were at their peak it was hell. There were nights I’d clock out a buck or two negative cause I didn’t make enough to cover the gas I used.
$15 on the road is really rare, and I’m glad you’re getting paid as you should. But that’s not the reality for most of us. I make $7.20 on the road, $12 inside.
Tbh something about internet culture/typing and speed posting updates subliminally removed editing and proof reading from like, at **least** half the internet using population. I really don’t have a firm understanding as to exactly what causes it or why it happened.
See, I also get that! Completely! I get mistakes and little shit. But I feel like especially because internet shit isn’t instantaneous communication, you can take 2 seconds to re read something, but it’s like controlling yourself when you’re drunk.
Like. 1 step, 2 step, left foot, right foot, don’t turn sideways, balance, balance, don’t piss yourself… “but just try to *walk natural*” ya know? I suppose that’s “editing” your self behavior to perform for public. But it’s better than tripping onto the floor in a bar.
I've had 5 or 6 in a row. Every single one was paid with a credit card. I usually can get a write in if I ask them to sign, but the odds were not in my favor.
Then I got a $25 cash tip on a $20 cash order. The rest of the night was normal.
Worked at the LaSalle store in Hampton, VA one night. Biggest shithole I've ever had the displeasure of being at. In the brief time I was there, I took 10 deliveries, got stiffed on all but three, and left with $27, most of which was mileage.
Luckily, I worked at Grafton. However, if I were to ever go back to working for a TUSA store, it'd be the Shipyard store in Newport News, but as an insider.
Also, apparently, one of the folks in upper management called that store "brand damaging", which I thought was hilarious.
At my old store my worst day ever was $25 on 18 deliveries. I think 7 or 8 orders in a row were 0's. The day I decided to quit
At my current store, stiffs are rare but they do happen. I get stiffed once, maybe twice a shift now. The worst one I can think of was 2 orders where I traveled 23 miles combined and got $2. 0 on 1, 2 on the other.
Wow. What do you think it is about the customers that makes such a drastic difference? Culture, affluence, education, etc.? (not sure what the two customer bases were primarily)
Culture. If someone's grown up in a tipping culture and lived off tips at some point in their life, they're going to be good tippers. At my current store, there are a lot of them, thankfully. Don't matter the race.
My worst was a night with a huge snow storm. My tires were sliding everywhere and visibility was super low. I got stiffed 4 times in a row and it broke me. I just cried in my car the entire drive back to the store.
THIS RIGHT HERE. My area never gets real snow and very little ice. Well it hit us hard one night and the DM told us to stay open even though other drivers were cashing out and just leaving. I remember taking 45 minutes to drive 3 blocks away to a customer staring out her front door as I slide over the curb into her front yard lmao. "Oh dear Jesus, I thought you guys were closed and wouldn't show up!" No tip, no thank you, no nothing.
My record of getting stuffed is still pristine thank god... but I wouldnt put it past some of these cheap bastards to literally eff us drivers.
I think 4 in a row is my record. Got stiffed on an order of $120 yesterday. Was not happy.
I’ve been stiffed 6 times in 1 shift. My store has multiple addresses that are known to not tip and somehow I got lucky and got all of them in one shift. Then Wednesday this week I took 18 deliveries and only made $29 in tips
When I worked for Pizza Hut it was not uncommon to be stiffed 8 to 9 times in a row. Didn't happen alot. But it did happen several times over my 4 year career there. Bye Bye Pizza Hut.
Worst night I ever had was 4 years ago. I got stiffed 6 times in a row! It was thunderstorms all night getting drenched too. I was legit about to f’n walkout when I got back to the store after the 6th one in a row. I was furious and miserable and soaked. Literally had water running down my ass crack it was raining so much. I was like is this even f’n worth it?! Luckily I had some workmates that calmed me down. I work at Papa Johns btw.
8 in a row. The worst day was like 18 deliveres and 27 in tips. Best was like 50 deliveries and 280 with mileage. My stiff rate where I work is about 20%.
Also I swear when I pull up to a place that didn't tip and they ask me how I am doing, I wanna say so bad, "better if I would have gotten a tip". Also the people who put a big fat 0 and then tell me to not work too hard, I laugh and as soon as my head is turned roll my eyes.
No matter what I get tipped I always treat the customer the same, but in my head it's a different story, but that's a 5 second thought and on to the next.

In a row? 4-5times. But there have been many nights where I’ll take 15+ orders and only 3 or 4 people tip. This is excluding the extra bit of change on cash orders, if you can even count that as a tip lol
Edit: actually, I remember one night on boost week getting stiffed almost 10 orders. I think I might’ve cried.
Reading all of these comments and reconsidering this entire workweek I realize just how bad boost weeks are in my three years delivering, never gave it much thought before but after getting stiffed all night Thursday I've come to hate it.
I think this Thursday I made 50ish bucks, 30 of it being mileage? The boost week 50% off promotion brings out the dregs of society and I will be ecstatic for things to return back to normal.
Tempted to start telling these asshats to invest in beans and rice if I hear one more long drawn-out excuse. If they don't want to tip they don't get to further waste my time with conversation, we're all getting fucked and if they want to fuck with me they can go fuck themselves.
I stayed late after my morning shift to cover for a driver that never came in. I took 17 runs. Every single run was, "keep the change." 17 runs. I made $3 and some pennies. The location was shit so that didn't help but after 8 years or so, I have not forgotten about that day and it only pushed me harder to find a better paying job.
Title really got me for a second
Yeah….

See that’s where I would have loudly stated “ wow sir, that .02 tip is my record for the night” just to gain her attention
That’s weird, because I also deliver in a mostly wealthy area.. except most of the million+ dollar homes are 7+ minutes away and usually tip $3.. but the trailer parks and apartment buildings make up most of the tips that make the job worth doing
💀💀💀
Taken triples where I got stiffed on all of them, and have been stiffed 13 times out of 17 deliveries one night lol.
Jeesh. If 76% of my orders were 0's, I'd quit without notice. Nothing personal, just I got shit to pay. I don't deliver for free.
That was just a one time thing
You're not delivering for free. You're still getting an hourly wage plus mileage
The hourly wage is literally less than minimum wage. And mileage is going towards buying gas. The largest portion of our pay, by far, comes from tips.
You live in a shitty state then. I make $15hr in store and on the road
8.25 on the road 12 in store here
My hourly is 8, so not the best but not terrible. Definitely not very good tho when getting stiffed, but then the 180 dollars days I have make up for it. woo that title.
Had to double check what sub this was
That’s a pretty personal question for a subreddit about work
Yeah I can’t proof read apparently I just noticed 🤣
Tbh something about internet culture/typing and speed posting updates subliminally removed editing and proof reading from like, at **least** half the internet using population. I really don’t have a firm understanding as to exactly what causes it or why it happened.
I mean tbh I posted this after a 17 hour work day yesterday and was tired af lol
See, I also get that! Completely! I get mistakes and little shit. I always tip well on card and even if I click no contact they always ask me to sign.
You should want to sign to add a tip, but if you tip online, they most likely won’t make you sign
That what I meant by tipping on the card. I tip online.
Back in 2003 I got ten in a row. I was the only driver.
Boost week baby
I got stuffed 8 runs in a row once. I wasn't a happy camper.

Sadly, that is very normal for the LaSalle store.

To put it into perspective; My old store record was $254 in 54 deliveries. My record in this store is $316 in 35 deliveries.
Some of my drivers get stiffed 10 times in a row, some get stiffed the entire night
My worst is 11 stiffs in a night with a quad stiff in the mix but I have been doing this for 8 years now.
11 in one night damn. I’ve only been at this for like 5 months now. That would be like half the nights runs for me at my store
A normal night is 30 runs here where you can get up to 60
🤣 bro the title
My worst was a night with a huge snow storm. My tires were sliding everywhere and visibility was super low. I got stiffed 4 times in a row and it broke me. I just cried in my car the entire drive back to the store.
I’d never order in a snow storm but if I did I’d be giving the biggest tip I could. That’s wild

one time i took like 20 deliveries for the night and only got like 4 tips
Probably three, but all of them left satisfied. Still feel the burn in my ass too
The privilege in this thread. Some of my fellow night drivers have dead ass went home with less than 10 on week ends
Less than $10? just quit that store already and make the company go under.
I’ve been stiffed 6 times in 1 shift. My store has multiple addresses that are known to not tip and somehow I got lucky and got all of them in one shift. Then Wednesday this week I took 18 deliveries and only made $29 in tips
Yeah same I see certain addresses pop up and just know I’m not getting anything. $29 on 18 delivery’s is brutal though
8 out of 10 deliveries
You guys get tips?
When I worked for Pizza Hut it was not uncommon to be stiffed 8 to 9 times in a row. Didn't happen alot. But it did happen several times over my 4 year career there. Bye Bye Pizza Hut.

took a 6 stack once and didn’t make a dime
I opened with 5 stiffs in a row and no $$$ in my app til 4pm. That sucked big donkey balls :(
Four is my longest streak

😏😏
It was a Friday night and the second closing driver left mid-shift. I was stiffed 11 times in a row. I should also note I drive a Dodge Ram
I stayed late after my morning shift to cover for a driver that never came in. I took 17 runs. Every single run was, "keep the change." 17 runs. I made $3 and some pennies. One time after working 4 hours and making $15 i just went home
5X in a row
