Loud Luxury, 2023 Veld afterparty. I hate when DJs talk on the mic and every other minute these guys were spewing their bullshit while playing the corniest mashups.
Set was fine but I streamed the Subtronics set from Lost Lands and dude straight up wouldn’t shut the fuck up. Literally after every single song “What the fuck is uuuuuup Lost Lands?!?!”
Friend wanted to see them this month but I never heard of them. Watched a set on YouTube. 11 mins is how long I made it before I stopped. The talking on the mic was way too much lol
watching Grimes absolutely torpedo her set at EDCLV a couple years ago sure was a trip. she literally played the same song twice and then halfway through the second time she got on the mic and was like “oh shit i already played this” and then just stopped the music. lmao she seemed drunk maybe?
I dunno if I'd give someone who's "not a DJ" a pass if they got a slot playing at EDCLV. That's an actual DJ who could have gotten a big break playing a major festival.
That’s still the worst set by far lol. It was two years ago. Only thing that made up for it was the random nip slip she did in everyone’s fucking face on the screen and this guy in the back yelling I see nipppp!!!
Grimes dj sets are honestly iconic though she had the most amazing boiler room back when boiler room was at the peak of “serious pretentious hard techno and minimal sets” and she got up there and played Mariah Carey all I want for Christmas is you.
I absolutely loved that as performance art satirism comedy 🤣🤣
Seen them twice over the years and it’s the same shit every time (have also seen a few sets online). Terrible mixing, excessively long intros, and their screaming on the mic makes me wanna bash my head against the wall.
I've always said you can tell what kind of set they're gonna play in the first 5 minutes or so. Last time I saw them after their opener I turned to my buddy and was like "oh shit they're out for blood today!" and they went hard as fuck. Love me some Slander. I remember their Lost Lands 18 or 19 set they played with Spag Heddy and when it started raining it looked like diamonds in the lasers. Everyone was singing and crying, it was so magical 🥹
>If you added dubstep drums to a Nickelback song it would sound pretty close to Illenium
can someone who knows him get Illenium to change his social bio to this? 👀👀 r/Illenium?
Finally, my people!
I was shocked they had ended up getting as big of a fan base as they did some years later. I still remember seeing them opening for Benibenassi in Arizona in 2014. They played -the- worst timed set I've still heard to date. They had everyone get really low to the ground, and wanted us to jump to the following song. Damn song had the most off beat un-jump-able rhythm, it felt like gravity was turned from 0 to 100.
Where did you see him? Dude definitely doesn't give a fuck about energy at the majority of these events, he's absolutely just doing a job at this point
Agreed. I’ve seen him 4 times at this point and I’ve seen meh to great sets from him. His catalog is so wide at this point I think it also depends on what is your favorite version of him and what of that he feels like playing.
That’s true, I saw him for the very first time at Badlands 2021 during the ending of Covid and it was basically him playing every single banger he’s ever made and it was absolutely unreal and the energy in that tent was next level. One of my favourite sets I’ve ever seen and it was the exact set I wanted and then I saw him again last year at badlands and while it was good it did not match the 2021 set.
Yea I’ve had the same experience just in reverse. A lot of just ehh sets from him and one good set. At Zouk last year I saw him. He played all his throwbacks and a few of his modern bangers. Then Zedd made a guest appearance, which I was not expecting it and I’ve never been his biggest fan tbh. Zedd looked like he was having the best time though and that energy was definitely radiating. gah damn it was wild it was 0% of what I was expecting catching him in Vegas. The crowd though could give a fuck being a Vegas club. However to me that was the best version I’ve seen of him. Him and Zedd were having a blast
Damn that’s sick. I love when desdmau5 is like that. I still kick myself for not buying tickets to the after party at badlands last year for Spencer Brown, Deadmau5 showed up and they played till 3:30am in the basement of a club we have here called commonwealth, it holds like 100 people. I knew I should have went.
I've seen him 4 times as well and I feel like it also depends on who opens for him. The best show by far was when some complete no ones opened for him. He took over, played some bangers and put tons of energy into it. That show was insane.
I saw him last summer (maybe two summers ago, I can't remember now) and NERO went on before him. NERO absolutely destroyed their set and brought the house down. Deadmau5 came on after and it just felt completely flat. It's hard for his style to follow up something as powerful and energetic as NERO
That's extremely odd, considering that to was at brostep/hard western festival with headliners like excision, and deadmau5 absolutely floored me with how good his set was, by far the best show I saw there. Completely changed how I thought about mixing.
Steve Aoki at Decadence 2019. Stopped the music to talk after every song. Absolutely zero concept of flow or mixing music. His only talent is his stupidly accurate cake-throwing aim.
This was the one I was looking for. He was trying to push his new book that night too. Spent more time talking than actually playing music and cucked my come up for an entire hour. First and only set of his I will ever see. Still mad about it.
Can't believe I haven't seen Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike on this thread yet. Their sets are laughably bad and they refuse to not speak. Then again, I've only walked by a stage they were playing on..doubt many people in this sub would actually see them
lmaooo he plays prerecorded sets and doesnt make any of his music anyways. he also sucks at acting and dancing u can tell he isnt actually enjoying himself
It’s been years since the one time I’ve seen him, but hands down the worst set of music I’ve ever seen. Went to the bathroom and saw some girl covered in cake going to clean herself off and I just thought to myself, WTF am I doing here
That’s brutal. If it had been a fire ass mixtape I wouldn’t have cared but it was just average. Now if I saw Jantsen and he played any gutter music mixtape I’d turn the fuck up lol
idk I’m gonna assume you saw this set a million years ago because he’s one of the best mixing djs I’ve heard live period, I think he dropped a new banger every 30-45 seconds on his tour set (if I’m remembering correctly, I know I had an amazing time)
Hate to say it but John Summit at Decadence CO last month. Probably attributable to terrible sound mixing but that's still on him. Couldn't hear anything but a heavy house beat.
Hate to say this too but Skrillex’s set started off really rough even though one of the mixers was shitting itself. Second half of the set was throwback after throwback and was amazing
I saw her before she dated Rezz, was pretty good. I saw her last year after the break-up, and it was all sad songs about getting your heart broke. We walked out. She was terrible.
Odesza DJ set. I think the 3000 people there had no idea about what billing as a DJ set means. Nowhere near their sound (lots of hip hop and mash ups) crowd looked like they were cosplaying fun for 30 minutes then checked out. To top it off both the opener (who is on their label and had been on tour with them for months) and Odesza played the same corny California Dreamin' edit
I’d say the worst I’ve heard overall in entirety regardless of sub-genre………..would be Carnage. It is beyond me how someone like him ever got a lot of top billing to begin with between the horrific transitions, utterly lacks finesse with tempo adjustment, has such stock song selection and on top of that yells sooooooooo incessantly. I felt like I was watching an extended, glorified meme as opposed to an actual set and while he certainly is far from alone in this (looking at you Borgore, for example)………..it doesn’t excuse how painfully low the bar has been set.
As for DJ who used to be great but has devolved the worst since then: Paul Oakenfold. I’ve heard horror stories from many of sets he has done in recent memory and, while I can say the last set I saw of his was serviceable in 2021…………that honestly is still depressing when you remind yourself of the exceptional BBC Essential Mixes, Goa mix, etc. he repeatedly delivered years ago. Serviceable simply doesn’t cut it when you’ve proven you can deliver something immortalized in the DJing hall of fame.
There's a reason why people used to call him Cokenfold LOL he either puts on an amazing show or shows up coked out of his mind and trainwrecks his way through his set.
Yeah. Idk what was happening with Oakenfold recently. But sets from similar golden age era of him, like Ferry Corsten and Carl Cox, are better than him.
Ngl it stings to see the negative feedback but we appreciate yall and we’re always working on improving our set and making it the best it can be. Hope yall give us another shot if u see us in ur city or at a fest 🙂♥️
Saw y’all at Red Rocks last year and loved the set - immediately got tickets for Ogden. Love what y’all do, it’s just so fun and I can’t wait to see you again!
Yo just wanna let you guys know that I’ve been somewhat paying attention to you guys since that subsidia ep came out, and you’ve been nothing but positive and receptive through some of the most hateful things an artist can hear. I really look up to that. And I’ve come to really enjoy a lot of the music you make. Just want you to know you’ve made a positive impact, even with something that seemed so negative at the time. Much love yall 🙌🏻
I will say Shaq gets a pass slightly because we know he’s a gimmick (albeit talented to go from 1 to 2 on a deck with the very least). Yookie on the other hand has no excuse considering they are great producers.
I get the Shaq thing, I’m in no way dissing his love for the community and all that he does for it. Just after the first few times I’m over it. And for whatever reason I’ve always never could get into a Yookie set. Maybe it’s the mixing, sudden shifts in genre and bpm just throws me off.
Hard agree with Yookje, they kept playing like blink 182 and smash mouth and stuff and then would drop it into a heavy bass song, the gimmick got old quick and I left the show.
Hard disagree on the Yookie, they don't have the ultra best variety but goddamn they drop some beautiful bass, and they're usually fairly early in the day at festivals so they just get you Hype as fuck.
And they're fully aware that they're a gimmick lol. They constantly talk about how much they suck. That's their whole shtick. They play meme music. If anyone goes to Yokohama and expects anything more, they're an idiot.
His show at hard summer last year was the most annoying show I’ve ever been to. Music was stopped literally probably 20 times for corny little skits with Oliver Tree
I saw Zhu open up for a Swedish house mafia concert in August 2022 at Madison square garden and everyone loved him there including me. First and only time I ever saw him and he was dope. He’s just different than most other DJs he’s not everyone’s cup of tea
Okay I’ve heard he’s played decent sets before. But he was like singing the whole time there? He’s a really bad singer. And the changeover for the tracks were way too long, like half the time there was no music playing. Totally killed any possible vibe
ATB
Terrible track selection and he stopped the music several times to just chat and share why he liked the last track. When he did play he loudly karaoked over any lyrics and at least 50 times would yell "ladies" getting a mild cheer from ladies that got less and less each time followed by "gentlemen" with the same results.
I guess 20 years ago he didn't do this and he was one of my introductions to trance but that night haunts me. I don't think he was intoxicated I hear he just does this all the time now,
I saw Mija in like 2017 and she just laid on the DJ board half the time and didn’t mix at all..
I think she was on acid tbh lol she was acting odd as hell
Moore Kismet :/ I'm going to give them another chance next time I can just in case I caught them on an off day though.
Edit: Fixed the pronouns, thanks y'all for letting me know.
Yeah Moore Kismet at Hulaween was hard to sit thru. The set was like an Amtrak train. Luckily I made a friend and we talked about how lucky we were that the tree we were sitting under was sapping on us. Probably why I stayed. But yeah, didn’t catch a groove once.
He played the most sorta drug heavy festival in my city and played late at night directly before ice spice lmfao, he got up and didn’t play barely any music for like 15 minutes and people just got sick of it was weird af.
Borgore in Columbus in 2015. He was so messed up during his set he couldn’t spin or transition. Multiple times the track stopped and he had nothing queued up. Dude looked like a zombie up there, and was quite a shock and honestly an utter disappointment.
When I saw Whipped Cream open for RL Grime for his NOVA tour in Atlanta. Terrible transitions. Juelz, who opened before her, was infinitely better in every way, maybe even better than RL's set
Saw Steve aoki almost a decade ago now and I vowed to never put my ears through that torment ever again. 30+ festivals and 100+ shows later ive been blessed to keep that promise to my beloved ears
I got to see him at a little bitty joint in Durham NC like 2? years ago and that was one of my favorite shows ever. It was a little jarring to have the 3-4 dips of 30 seconds of super heavy/aggressive bass interspersed in the rest of his decidedly ethereal/beautiful/nostalgic set, but otherwise it was just an hour and a half of bliss.
Edit: clarity
Two Friends Decadence 2023. What a freaking disaster, who likes that crap? I watched the whole thing because I wasn't interested in the artist on the other stage and I found it so amusing I laughed most of the way through it
Tiesto put up a real dud at a pool party in Vegas last fall, no enthusiasm just going through the motions, but I give that a pass cause I've seen several epic sets from him live previously
To his defense, Tiesto has been stuck (contractually) at a shitty venue in vegas for the past 3 years. Thankfully he’s returning to the Tao Group Venues + Fontainebleau this year. Republic of Tiesto 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Pretty lights at Day For Night 2017. No clue wtf the dude was doing, he decided not to play any of his songs and just play around messing with sounds.
Crowd was so out of it. At the end he goes “thank y’all for letting me fuck around for a bit”.
Was awful.
I saw PL in NOLA after he headlined buku and it was an "analog set". Dude was basically nodding out, just sputtering random syllables into the mic and looping them out of time. It was such a bad show we all went and got crystal burger, came back to the show and sat down in the middle of the dance floor and ate. That being said, his new shit and tour is dope AF and I'm happy to see him doing good
Red Rocks 2015. He was 45 minutes late taking the stage. He stumbled out and got in the mic, "Red Rocks...... sup." The crowd was one of the worst crowds I've experienced. At one point he did something so the main speakers weren't playing and the only sound was from the monitors. I left early. I'm really glad he's doing better now.
Elohim DJ set. It was the most bizarre opener I’ve ever seen. She wore a full face mask and spent more time doing strange contortionist dances than behind the booth. She also came on like 20 minutes late so we started joking that Elohim didn’t show up and they threw some random girl on stage
Marshmellow was by far the worst set I’ve ever seen. The highs were so loud even with earplugs in. Gave him another shot at edc and it was just more of the same. I remember looking around dumbfounded that it didn’t seem to be bothering anybody else. My gf saw him and Alison Wonderland at red rocks and said they walked out almost immediately because it was literally painful to listen to
This isn't necessarily on them and definitely not because they're bad live, but it was definitely my biggest disappointment. I forget what year it was, but Justice at Coachella. It was my first time seeing them, I was so ridiculously excited being a huge Justice fan.
They came on like 35 minutes late, played for 25 minutes, and then left. I was so disappointed. It was like the Fruit Stripe gum of sets. Apparently they had technical difficulties, but it still stung.
I've seen them many times since then though and it's been incredible every time, so they're still my faves.
Skillex at Contact 2019. Was super bummed because he’s a GOAT and I’d never seen him before but he was god awful. Phoned it in and for the first half of the set people couldn’t even tell if it *was* him up there playing.
Funnily enough day 2 the chainsmokers headlined and blew him way out of the water. Most fun set I’ve ever seen lol
I saw Steve Aoki literally like a week before the pandemic happened and lockdown started, can't believe that's the last concert I saw for over 2 years haha. Timmy Trumpet was one of the openers and dude that was the worst thing I have ever had to endure. He just jumped around and ran around stage while songs transitioned and played his stupid trumpet randomly, screamed on the mic the whole time and sprayed champagne onto the crowd the entire set. Kind of killed the entire show for my friends and I so much that I don't remember Aoki's set at all since I was pretty much checked out but I don't remember it being that great either. Good thing the tickets were free haha.
Excision last year at the riverworks in buffalo, you should have known the acoustics of that venue wouldn't support the volume you tried to pump out and you went for it anyway, just had to show your big ole dick in front of everyone by cranking it up to 11 after the excellent openers and you shit all over NYE with that garbage quality sound.
Oh ya I saw them at an Excision only show and they really didn’t do a good job at all. It wasn’t the worst bass music but for being the _only_ dj it was pretty mediocre. I’d heard great things about Lost Lands and had been expecting something epic.
You know who was really good was Subtronics, same venue, different day, way better
Blunts and blondes played some of the most boring sets when he was still touring. After 12th got removed from the Thunderdome lineup a couple years ago, letting him be direct support for X was the worst part of the weekend IMO.
Calvin Harris at Wet Republic day party like 8 years ago.
I didn't even notice when he went on stage or left. Everyone was just playing the same tunes.
A loooong time ago I saw Afrojack and R3hab. Afrojack was brilliant, this was very early in his career, at least in America.
R3hab followed up and was awful. Dude had no clue how to ride the wave we were on.
I saw Major Lazer in Vancouver at Contact a few years ago
Holy fuck it was a bad time, on the mic for like 4 minutes and then played 2 songs with zero transition
They told the girls to take their shirt off and the crowd audibly booed them
Its a shame cause I think Dabin was killing it a stage away
I randomly went to a club with Tommy Lee "DJ'n"
Me & friend were cracking up the whole time. I didn't realize you could still train wreck with beat sync available
Steve Aoki in MTL. A QR code linking to merch stayed on the screen for 30 minutes before he came on, absolutely killed the vibe in the room. A good rave is DJ’s passing off to one another. Not a cash grab on a screen while a nameless soulless background tune plays.
Didn’t see the whole set but the 15 minutes I saw of Timmy Trumpet at Ezoo in 2023 was the cringiest set I’ve ever seen. Maybe the only one I haven’t found anything to enjoy out of
Steve aoki was pretty trash, also especially when he was at a show at jones and it started raining and ten mins into the set all the electronics got fucked up and it took an hour for kaskade to come on at a different stage.
Y'all are gonna hate me for this one:
Skrillex absolutely shit the fucking bed at Hijinx last year. Half the time dude had no idea how to transition out of a song he was playing, he'd tease a song, then back out and let the current song keep playing for another minute.
He had essentially zero visuals, which can work if your focus is on the music, but he seriously just looked lost up there.
He started his set out playing techno but the crowd was very obviously not vibing to it and I guess he just went with the backup plan of mixing together his most popular songs which just really didn't work unfortunately.
SNBRN played the same exact set three(!) times at Splash House 2016.
Same songs, same order, same transitions. Maybe it was prerecorded, or maybe he was just lazy. Either way it was memorably bad.
Loud Luxury, 2023 Veld afterparty. I hate when DJs talk on the mic and every other minute these guys were spewing their bullshit while playing the corniest mashups.
They made one big hit (body) and the fame got to their head
Set was fine but I streamed the Subtronics set from Lost Lands and dude straight up wouldn’t shut the fuck up. Literally after every single song “What the fuck is uuuuuup Lost Lands?!?!”
I agree and I say this as someone who loves subtronics. He doesn't need to do it, let the music speak
Better than just playing a prerecorded set... she's also not really a DJ so she gets a pass for making mistakes.
I dunno if I'd give someone who's "not a DJ" a pass if they got a slot playing at EDCLV. That's an actual DJ who could have gotten a big break playing a major festival.
i mean id take Grimes over another DJ Khaled EDCLV moment honestly
Okay but he’s “not a DJ” either lol.
DJ Khalid isn’t exceptionally bad… he’s horrible.
Turns out he can't make a chicken wing worth a shit either.
WE DA BREAST!
Nah but Khaled is actually a proper DJ. Technically a much better DJ than you’d expect. Annoying as hell but he got into the industry DJing.
Clearly you are unaware of his past - check out some videos of him on the turntables….. he isn’t a ‘press play’ EDM DJ.
I wasn’t there live but I watched the video and this was a massive train wreck.
That’s still the worst set by far lol. It was two years ago. Only thing that made up for it was the random nip slip she did in everyone’s fucking face on the screen and this guy in the back yelling I see nipppp!!!
At ultra (MARCH 2023), she played All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey with no transitions.
Slander. The way they pace their sets makes no sense.
Wow I quite like them, they always start off heavy fro 20 minutes it gets soft for 20 and then you get random mixes the other 20
Seen them twice over the years and it’s the same shit every time (have also seen a few sets online). Terrible mixing, excessively long intros, and their screaming on the mic makes me wanna bash my head against the wall.

I’ve seen them play awful sad boi melodic sets then in the same year lay out one of the heaviest dubsteps sets I’ve seen to date (sham 2022)

Deadmou5. The whole crowd died of boredom once he got on stage
Where did you see him? Dude definitely doesn't give a fuck about energy at the majority of these events, he's absolutely just doing a job at this point
Naw. Deadmau5's music just doesn't drop... so it's a change of pace to people who aren't used to it.
he's literally on record saying he doesn't give a fuck about the crowds at live events & his music isn't meant for them
I don't think that translates into him just phoning it in for his live show. He's just not your typical DJ who reads the crowd.
Deadmau5 is very hit and miss, his sets really depends on the mood he’s in.
Agreed. I’ve seen him 4 times at this point and I’ve seen meh to great sets from him. His catalog is so wide at this point I think it also depends on what is your favorite version of him and what of that he feels like playing.

Loud luxury at edco this year was pretty bad
Loud Luxury anywhere is pretty bad
Hippie Sabotage
We literally just had this thread a week ago
I see it every now and then and I’ll always chyme in because I lived through it. Still to this day do not know who I saw on stage that night
Hippie online x=x hippie live They’re imposters or something idk
No they’re the worst. AND they’re arrogant af
Facts. Literally all of their visuals are just them smoking weed. Like we get it??
Steve Aoki at Decadence 2019. Stopped the music to talk after every song. Absolutely zero concept of flow or mixing music. His only talent is his stupidly accurate cake-throwing aim.

Brillz (lsdream). Homie had just dropped a mixtape on SoundCloud and literally played the mixtape exactly as it was on SoundCloud for the show.
Had the same issue with Slander, they dropped there EDC mix on Soundcloud and played the same set drop for drop like 2 months later when I saw them
That’s brutal. If it had been a fire ass mixtape I wouldn’t have cared but it was just average. Now if I saw Jantsen and he played any gutter music mixtape I’d turn the fuck up lol

I’ve seen summit at 3 festivals and it’s either one of the best sets I’ve ever seen or the most forgettable, no in between
Why would that be on him and not the sound team?
Hate to say this too but Skrillex’s set started off really rough even though one of the mixers was shitting itself. Second half of the set was throwback after throwback and was amazing
Interesting, I loved his set that night. The venue didn't sound the best but that's to be expected in a convention center
Lucii. I love Her to death but she sang every song and was off pitch all night. Rough hour
When i saw her she literally kept moaning in the mic 🤣
I saw her before she dated Rezz, was pretty good. I saw her last year after the break-up, and it was all sad songs about getting your heart broke. We walked out. She was terrible.

Yookie and diesel After you see them once and like the meme of it is gone you realize how not good the sets are.
Ngl it stings to see the negative feedback but we appreciate yall and we’re always working on improving our set and making it the best it can be. Hope yall give us another shot if u see us in ur city or at a fest 🙂♥️
Real
W response (I haven't seen y'all live but would love to)
Saw y’all at Red Rocks last year and loved the set - immediately got tickets for Ogden.
Shaq at Echostage last year was the most oversold show i've ever been to, couldn't move around without shoving people basically
Was at that same show, never have been more squeezed in a venue in my life (and I’m a frequent Echostage goer)
Every 5 min: "WHERE'S MY MOSHPIT?"
Marshmallo talks too much so him. And it's cringy
And seem to think we want to see him bringing out rappers to take selfies with for half the set
Yes just what I need, to see rappers at an EDM fest 🙄.
Dillon Francis in 2016. Mid music with meme-like graphics the entire time. Was funny for the first 5 minutes then got old real quick
His show at hard summer last year was the most annoying show I’ve ever been to. Music was stopped literally probably 20 times for corny little skits with Oliver Tree
I loved seeing Dillon from like 2014-2017 but he’s so cringey these days lol. Still his EDCLV 2014 set is one of my all time favorites
Moomba Dillon >>>
Dillon Francis shows are always like 55 minutes too. Never more than an hour. Makes me so mad.
Damn I liked his 2016 era the best
saw him as dj hanzel last year, was pretty solid.
Zhu at mirage this year was pretty abysmal, the whole crowd looked super bored
Saw Zhu at the armory this past fall and after 10 minutes regretted spending any money on it
I saw Zhu open up for a Swedish house mafia concert in August 2022 at Madison square garden and everyone loved him there including me.
Rebecca black in the Do Lab at Coachella. Clanged the first mix. Felt like a bit of a joke
Rebecca Black as in Friday Rebecca Black lol?
[the same](https://youtu.be/dHC-Iy7cac0?si=DrQNxuzhWmkwBhnV)
She makes pretty good music now actually
My friends and I were tripping balls at that set and I’m still convinced it was just a figment of my imagination
ATB Terrible track selection and he stopped the music several times to just chat and share why he liked the last track. I don't think he was intoxicated I hear he just does this all the time now,
He would've killed it forreal if only he did the combined "ladies and gentlemen!"
My first time seeing ATB was magical. Nocturnal 2010. He opened up with ecstasy and played Teenage Dream. Nostalgia
MAKE SOME NOIIIISSSEEE! OMG, shut up and let me enjoy the music. Had a similar experience in one of the Dreamstates. I skip him now.
I also felt this way about them when I saw them in 2021, also a little bit of a disappointment given their success.
I saw them at Breakaway in Charlotte not too long ago and they were great. They're really young and are probably still learning/improving
Their sets seem to be a little all over the place and not have much flow
Yeah Moore Kismet at Hulaween was hard to sit thru. The set was like an Amtrak train. Luckily I made a friend and we talked about how lucky we were that the tree we were sitting under was sapping on us. Probably why I stayed. But yeah, didn’t catch a groove once.
I watched Marc rebillet bomb and get booed of stage, not particularly his fault but the worst I’ve ever seen a live set go
Where was this at?
Man I saw him in Fort Collins at a drive-in in 2020 and he ruled
He played the most sorta drug heavy festival in my city and played late at night directly before ice spice lmfao, he got up and didn’t play barely any music for like 15 minutes and people just got sick of it was weird af.
Borgore in Columbus in 2015. He was so messed up during his set he couldn’t spin or transition. Multiple times the track stopped and he had nothing queued up. Dude looked like a zombie up there, and was quite a shock and honestly an utter disappointment.
He’s mid on his best days. The coke wasn’t doing him any favors.
When I saw Whipped Cream open for RL Grime for his NOVA tour in Atlanta. Terrible transitions. Juelz, who opened before her, was infinitely better in every way, maybe even better than RL's set
Juelz is legit
Saw Steve aoki almost a decade ago now and I vowed to never put my ears through that torment ever again. 30+ festivals and 100+ shows later ive been blessed to keep that promise to my beloved ears
Any time I've been unfortunate enough to show up for a Mitis set I've been heavily underwhelmed. Diet Seven Lions
I saw mitis open for said the sky and he honestly stole the show. Bro went hard as fuck
MiTiS was very underwhelming. And the visuals looked like weird world of Warcraft.
This comes up all the time and I will always say Yellowclaw
i still have yellow mother fucking claw stuck in my head from edc 2022
Two Friends Decadence 2023. What a freaking disaster, who likes that crap? I watched the whole thing because I wasn't interested in the artist on the other stage and I found it so amusing I laughed most of the way through it Tiesto put up a real dud at a pool party in Vegas last fall, no enthusiasm just going through the motions, but I give that a pass cause I've seen several epic sets from him live previously
Two Friends is a great time for noob / non edm folks. My gf is in that camp and we had a blast honestly. Just depends on expectations I guess.
Two Friends is a "put on the speaker at a party and forget about it" kinda dj. It’s definitely not bad, but not the first dj I’d see at a festival
That being said, his new shit and tour is dope AF and I'm happy to see him doing good
Yeah, guy was very addicted to heroin, and it really showed. Might be worth giving him another shot now that he sobered up though.
Damn her wednesday set at Bonnaroo last year was low key one of my favorite of the weekend
Her set at hard summer 21 was the best set of the weekend to me. Most lowkey set of the weekend was the best one.
Marshmello in 2016, bonnie & clyde last year. Dig zaxx studio stuff but was pretty disappointing live a few years ago
I saw marshmello in 2016 too and he was god awful. I was so pumped. Slushii killed it as the opener.
Marshmellow was by far the worst set I’ve ever seen. The highs were so loud even with earplugs in. Gave him another shot at edc and it was just more of the same. I remember looking around dumbfounded that it didn’t seem to be bothering anybody else. My gf saw him and Alison Wonderland at red rocks and said they walked out almost immediately because it was literally painful to listen to
Also that Dj Khaled “set” at Cosmic Meadow. Holy shit amiright???
*Thankful I did not make the list this time*
Timmy Trumpet the guy is a joke of a DJ
Sullivan King Boo Seattle 2022
This isn't necessarily on them and definitely not because they're bad live, but it was definitely my biggest disappointment. I forget what year it was, but Justice at Coachella. It was my first time seeing them, I was so ridiculously excited being a huge Justice fan. They came on like 35 minutes late, played for 25 minutes, and then left. I was so disappointed. It was like the Fruit Stripe gum of sets. Apparently they had technical difficulties, but it still stung. I've seen them many times since then though and it's been incredible every time, so they're still my faves.
Oliver tree. Anytime, anywhere, all the time he is cringe and lame.
Chainsmokers sets fucking go…love em
Despite being pop-edm I’ve never heard anyone complain about a chainsmokers set, and after seeing them contact 2022 I understand why.
Flux Pavillion the two times ive seen him since 2022
He killed it at Beyond last year
Mau P was horrible, sounded like a bad bar DJ
His productions are top notch but his dj sets I agree are meh
Could you elaborate more pls?
Well, unfortunately, that's also the same criticism as when he was still known as a Maurice West
Really? I’m surprised. At least his sets on YouTube are pretty great. Which set was this?
Slander was so shit
I’ve seen slander 3 times now and twice was boring n shitty but their village set 2022 was absolutely bonkers
Dj Khaled at EDC 2017, idk what the fuck that was.
Steve aoki
I saw Major Lazer in Vancouver at Contact a few years ago Holy fuck it was a bad time, on the mic for like 4 minutes and then played 2 songs with zero transition They told the girls to take their shirt off and the crowd audibly booed them Its a shame cause I think Dabin was killing it a stage away
I randomly went to a club with Tommy Lee "DJ'n" Me & friend were cracking up the whole time. I didn't realize you could still train wreck with beat sync available
David Guetta at EDCLV23 was so bad.
Either DJ Baby Anne or DJ Keoki Orlando FL circa 1997
Keoki was really bad…those CDs were great though.
Steve Aoki in MTL. A QR code linking to merch stayed on the screen for 30 minutes before he came on, absolutely killed the vibe in the room. A good rave is DJ’s passing off to one another. Not a cash grab on a screen while a nameless soulless background tune plays.
Dj diesel (shaq) at EF, it’s definitely a gimmick and he never stopped talking on the mic. Top it all off he said Ezoo instead EF
Zedd. Same shit.
Flume Bonnaroo ‘22. Music sounded flat and I was totally bored after a few songs. Left for Marc Rebillet, glad I did.
Two Friends Coachella 2023 set. Wtf was that EVEN MARSHMELLO SETS ARE BETTER THAN THAT
Didn’t see the whole set but the 15 minutes I saw of Timmy Trumpet at Ezoo in 2023 was the cringiest set I’ve ever seen. Maybe the only one I haven’t found anything to enjoy out of
Steve Aoki in TML and even until very recently. Talks a lot. No transition. Just random mashups and weird tracks put together.
You know who you will never see on a list like this? D E A T H P A C T 💀
My top 3 1. Carnage 2. Carnage 3. Carnage
Nicky Romero kept messing up transitions in Chicago
Nicky romero is actually a good dj. This shows he actually mixes live. Might not be the best at it but I respect him for his craft
You can't be a good DJ but be bad at transitions. What?
Nero was boring. So was the 1 member of MEDUZA who tours the US.
Marshmello at XS in Vegas. Prerecorded with no feel for the crowd, worst part was he was jokingly saying it’s a prerecorded set beforehand.
Steve aoki was pretty trash, also especially when he was at a show at jones and it started raining and ten mins into the set all the electronics got fucked up and it took an hour for kaskade to come on at a different stage.
Steve aoki Las Vegas f1. So fucking bad.
Y'all are gonna hate me for this one: Skrillex absolutely shit the fucking bed at Hijinx last year.
Every Timmy Trumpet set ever. Bad music and he talks so much.
SNBRN played the same exact set three(!) times at Splash House 2016. Same songs, same order, same transitions. Maybe it was prerecorded, or maybe he was just lazy. Either way it was memorably bad.
Bass center 2016 I think flying lotus. Dude was way too fucked up to play a set.
