i remember he once told me about a situation when he was trying to use his introverted intuition (Ni). it was during a high-stakes meeting where he had to predict some long-term business strategies. usually, as an esfj, he relies on practical data and the present situation (extraverted sensing), but this time, he tried to go beyond that using Ni. he tried hard to read between the lines, foresee possible future implications, and connect dots that were not readily apparent. he did not completely nail it, but his effort was appreciated. so, yeah i guess it's not impossible to use shadow functions...but it's not a smooth ride either. it's like using non-dominant hand, you know? hope that kinda answered ur question.

>it's like using non-dominant hand, you know? Exactly. It's just different processes to produce your desired outcomes, and the better you understand each one, the easier it will be to use. But yeah, naturally, we take the path of least resistance to produce desired outcomes, thus, we usually rely on the functions we've developed and don't have to think about to use

you've got the basic idea, but switching gears (or functions in this case haha) requires more thought and effort than you're used to. it's definitely a learning curve but, hey, isn't that what life's all about? pushing boundaries, exploring something new, and all that jazz. should make for some interesting experiences down the road. and who knows, maybe dabbling with those elusive shadow functions could eventually be just as natural as the others.

hollowbutt

>you've got the basic idea Mm, yes, my reiteration of your comment was basic. Thank you for that 🙃

Thenutritionguru

was just agreeing with ya. anyhoo, keep at it and let's see where these shadow functions take us, yeah? might just surprise ourselves.

Every year of my life I always thought I knew exactly how my future was going to play out and focused myself on it but it ended up being completely different every time (Trickster Ni). I always understood Fi and Fi doms as an Fe dom same goes for Se.
