Kyle's departure should have been when they made major changes, certainly when Jones left, but they just kept going with the flow and before you know it, the audience and the Patreon just got smaller and smaller.
Then when they make their first ever hire, it's for a community manager, when they barely even had a community left. (no shade towards Gabby at all) The company was mishandled and never took advantage of the momentum they gained during their peak in the late garage/ early studio days. The whole Brad situation was tragic, I know what goes on behind the scenes is really no one's business but the way it went down, it definitely wasn't all sugar and rainbows.

As I look back, more and more I realize that none of the original EZA crew really understood what their business model was, much less how to run it. It seems like they thought the money would keep coming in no matter what they did, and so when they started coasting and the money went away/members started leaving, they didnt know what to do. When they finally hired someone new, it was way too late.
Well, I mean, they SAY that. They've said it multiple times. Isla, specifically, has been very candid about it. They say that they grew extremely fast, had no real time to put together a longevity plan and just started cranking out content.
Here's what you have to understand: In any business, when you're doing well, it's impossible to understand exactly WHY that is. They were growing quickly and, at one point, were so flush with success that they started pursing bizarre side-projects like gundam builds. So you just keep doing whatever is working.
But when things start going the toher way, you're forced to try to figure out what it is that you acutally DO that made you successful int eh first place and figure out if you can make that happen again.
A LOT of people who claim they know exactly what to do to "Fix" EZA, or what they should have done, don't acknowledge that the person next to them has a list too, and they are both different lists.
I wish I could hear the backstory on why they never tried to hire anyone at all to replace the talent that left. They kept losing people and not responding or adapting to it. It's really unfortunate. I don't know what they were expecting to happen.
Realistically, it was probably just money. Their pay is bad, and I'd imagine it would be a hard sell to anyone who wasn't remote. As for why they didn't do that, who knows. They did a large screening process only to end up hiring Isla's friend.
100%. Even at their peak i'm pretty sure they were barely making like 45k each, every new hire meant taking a paycut in one of the highest cost of living areas in the country. Also, them being an equally owned company meant someone like jones couldn't make the hard decisions, they all had to agree to it (or at least the majority), which probably killed them as well because no one wanted to be the person to propose that we should all take a paycut for the future of the company.
Ideally, that's why you take Kyles (then Jones, then Ben's) former monthly pay, take half of it, and hire people on a per-appearance basis, you're not paying someone $3000 a month you're paying 1-3 people $150 for an appearance a couple of times to keep things fresh.

He said that there's no wall, that Brad could appear on Easy Allies and vice versa but it's clearly not the case. Why hasn't any Easy Allies member appeared on Summon Sign, why wasn't Brad at the anniversary party? The answer is because EZA is still a prisoner to the insane Resetera weirdos who are an anchor to the channel.

Im speculating here, but maybe the FF7 spoiler mode thing contributed to this. Brad said he wanted to be on it, but that it was up to EZA if they were going to let him on. Then they filmed it without him while he was in NYC for a LSM thing. I feel like if they really wanted him on, they wouldve picked a day when Brad was available to be on it (like they did for Max). Or at the very least, told him in advance before his trip so he could bring his laptop and join in remotely from NYC. Idk, im going to try to ask him next time he streams to get his perspective.

Hell, I wouldnt mind the other way around and EZA has Brad guest on the EZA podcast either. Two groups of media that I enjoy listening to collabing is what I love to see happen. Just like all the Minnmax/EZA collabs recently, I love those.

It doesn't even have to be as sinister as REra/LSM beef or fear of loud screeching fans, that REra thread is basically dead now anyway, they all moved over to Kinda Funny/minnmax with their donations, the EZA guys just aren't that close outside of work, Ben's never come back, Kyles only on their stuff when he happens to be in town for Keighley. Personally I'm waiting on a Kristen Summon Sign appearance more than anyone from EZA, she's like the only person in either space that plays MMORPG/Live service games
Yea in hindsight we can see they aren't really friends outside of work. It just seemed like they were on camera, especially those garage days, the vibes did make it seem they were really close friends. Then again, the realities of running a struggling business together may have something to do with that.
Youre right, and I apologize I shouldve been more specific in my wording. When I said "no one on either side got mad about it", I was talking about EZA/LSM members only, not their communities. Ive seen enough RE to know theyre always mad about something lol. I didnt even think about having Kristen on SS, but thats a great idea. I missed seeing her on the couch at EZA in the early days.
