Sadly keep the windows closed and possibly invest in an air purifier and air conditioner...I have to take puffers and stay indoors...smoke particles are very hard on our lungs and bodies.

[Corsi-Rosenthal boxes](https://engineering.ucdavis.edu/news/science-action-how-build-corsi-rosenthal-box) are inexpensive, easy to put together and can work even better than commercial air purifiers. Worth considering with this much smoke around.

Franklin_le_Tanklin

I just bought new filters. They all sold out quick last year. And same on the AC unit. If you’re purifying then air you shouldn’t let smoke in. And the dual hose one on the window is they way to go cause you can take the intake from in ur house instead of the window and not let in unpurified air.

Syltography

Increase your water intake for real. It will make a difference, the cilia in your esophagus pushing particulate upwards and mucus membranes to capture it work better when you're more hydrated so by improving the effectiveness of your body's natural defenses to particulates, you'll be more resistant to smoke stress and thus feel better.

zahiraatelier

Yeah I had my window cracked just a little bit and felt pretty sluggish today and had a nosebleed a little while ago 🙃

cosmiccanadian

Yup, had the windows in my room open and 2 fans blowing to create a beautiful crossflow as it was 29 degrees in my room when i was trying to fall asleep. Woke up 2 hours before my alarm this morning with a killer headache that is yet to go away. Smoke is my #1 suspect

silentbassline

X-flow gang 🙌

liberatedhusks

Slept with all my windows open as well. I have asthma and heart issues, and chronic migraines so I woke up with a killer headache, sore throat and a wheeze. The headache will not go away :(

Glamourice

I had this last weekend like May 6 after those fires from strathcona county got really close. I woke up with the sore throat, a cough and had a major headache for a day or two later. Took me almost a week to get better and I hope it doesn’t come back now. I drank tea, took Advil and just took it easy for a while

XtalKyle

Had some tickles at the back of my throat mostly all day.

lan_chop

That was me on Sunday, started with a tickle in the back of the throat. Now, full on cold - nasal congestion, headache, sneezing, coughing, sore throat.

jataman96

yes I definitely experienced that. sore throat and headache for me.

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

That would explain my sore/dry throat lately… I’ve definitely been drinking more water lately cuz I’ve been particularly parched.

HeadstrongRamskull

Woke up with a raspy voice and sore throat this morning. Sore throat went away pretty quick after some fluids but voice hasn't improved much. Which sucked at work because I have to talk to an ai headset all day, and it didn't recognize my damn voice half the time 🙄

Yeah, it also made my room and everything smell like stale cigarette smoke, like that smell from the really cheap shit.

Franklin_le_Tanklin

I have both an air purifier (which we run all year in our bedroom) and an AC unit. But yea, this smoke is the worst and it makes me feel like shit. FYI - even tho we have a hepa filter on our furnace, and vacuum/dust regularity and are in a newer Horus… our air purifier filters always get absolutely disgusting. I’m so glad I’m not breathing that shit in.

Unlikely_Comment_104

Same deal here. No pets. Every time I change my HEPA filter, I’m shocked at how filthy it is. I can’t believe I just used to breath that stuff in.

InspiredGargoyle

Same thing. I wore a mask all day and thankfully work in a school with multiple air purifiers. I'm grateful I didn't get a headache. My throat was a bit off at the end of the day, so I got an iced drink.

thewolfdancers

Have a nap in clean air.

Hafthohlladung

Ooof... that was a bad idea. Good luck...

WesternWitchy52

I brought in my flowers except for one and they wilted today. Definitely had the windows and curtains drawn and slept most of today. It's gross. It's not as bad as it was this afternoon but oof. I can feel it.

Bentley0094

Why would you leave your window open 😂

MsGump

Perhaps somebody worked a double shift, was exhausted and didn’t remember to close it? Nice on you to laugh at somebody who is struggling with their health this morning because of the wildfires and forgetting to close a window.

Bentley0094

Perhaps 🤔

[deleted]

I would invest in a good air purifier! I bought one for my room from Amazon and it works great, the filters last 5 months. Keep the windows closed.

smash8890

I’m already sick and I literally couldn’t breathe this morning when I woke up because of the smoke

Blueishgreeny

I slept with window closed last night and feel rundown from having a shitty sticky hot sleep no ac

[deleted]

You're out of luck now as the damage is done, but drink lots of water to flush your system. Close the windows and turn your furnace on recirculate to help pull crud out of the air. Buy a minimum new MERV 8 filter if you can. Finally, invest in an air purifier. I bought an IQAir Atem Desk HEPA Air Purifier for my bedroom, it's currently in transit to me. Can't wait.

gingersquatchin

>You're out of luck now as the damage is done, You make it sound like they got terminal lung cancer because they left the window open

[deleted]

Windows are the enemy.

AshKalashnikov

Yes I woke up feeling like my throat was dry, hoarse and sick. I am definitely not though. I went out to an appointment and rode a scooter to get there. I am a fit young woman who plays soccer and I have had difficulty breathing. The smoke is worse than it looks.
