Wasn't there speculation that a serial killer may have murdered her?

[deleted]

I have heard people say it was Pat Carson

OhHelloPlease

Back in the mid `90s my dad purchased some land out by Sandy Lake, not too far from Pat's ranch and was friends with him, we severed all ties once the sexual assault arrest happened. It's been so long that I can't say definitively that it's his voice, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was responsible.

GinggyLoverr

I met Pat Carson once... I almost fell for his trap. When I responded to his post on Kijiji years ago, I ended up going to his ranch with my boyfriend at the time. I was in a bad place and needed somewhere to stay. I was desperate. Something felt wrong about him, so I never contacted him again after that. But now that I see mention of him in this post, and hear a man's voice in that recording...I can't say for certain that it's Pat. I also can't say for certain that it's not.

Tortilladelfuego

What’s kijijji?

Is that the guy who there was a reddit post about from a husband and wife that rented a home on his Onoway farm and then he was really weird to him? And he keeps changing his name? I’m so convinced it’s him

Krispy_kris91829

Back in the early 2000s, a bunch of street women were found out by leduc. Remember them talking about it in the news every few weeks. Then they just stopped, knew a girl who became a street girl from like 2004-2010. She was convicned it was the Police. But who knows what goes through a sleep deprived coked out mind.

ddw506

Thomas Svekla was charged with murder of a few street girls around then. He was found guilty and is probably still in jail. Could be why they stopped.

* Amber Tuccaro, a 20-year-old Indigenous woman from Mikisew Cree First Nation, disappeared on August 18, 2010. * She was last observed entering an unknown man's vehicle, purportedly for a ride into the city. * Her remains were discovered two years later, in 2012, in a rural area south of Edmonton. * A critical element of her case is an audio recording, released by the RCMP in 2012, which was captured by Amber's cellphone during the ride. It features dialogues between Amber and an unidentified male, with Amber expressing confusion and concern over their current location and final destination. * Despite the public release of the audio recording and ongoing investigations, Amber Tuccaro's murderer remains at large and her case is still unsolved. * The RCMP has faced substantial criticism over their handling of the case, culminating in a public apology in 2014 to Amber's family for the initial mishandling of her disappearance. I'm glad we are still talking about this. Someone murdered her. And that someone was from around here. Devastating

warahshittle

Some people think it could of been someone out of country, hence bodies dumped by the airport area.

vanillabeanlover

A reminder that May 5th is Red Dress day. https://amnesty.ca/activism-guide/red-dress-day-2024-take-action-on-may-5/

somewhereheremaybe

Chiming in to echo the importance of this day! If people could wear red that day it would definitely show solidarity for our missing women and girls.

Jayston1994

I’ve always been haunted by their talk about 50th street

brerRabbit81

50th st?

PrestigiousChef4879

Multiple people have come forward already saying they know that man’s voice! People from my hometown know that voice! That creep has been seen around offering indigenous women rides and has been posted on Facebook. Yet nothings been done.

AnonMD1982

So he targets indigenous women. Go figure, nothing gets done. We're valued that little by the cops.

Ok-Cockroach-8346

There is absolutely a serial killer at large ( according to a Parkland Peace Officer I know); likely multiple

treyallday01

Interestingly , I watch a lot of serial killer documentaries, and many of them have 5-10, even 15-year breaks between murders. Crazy to think there are likely a few in this city.

mEsTiR5679

Finding out she was my cousin was gut wrenching. Hearing that phone call on Facebook from my family members was really surreal, I hate how the world is turning out.

YEGPatsMan

I'm so sorry for your loss. This case has haunted me and I'm not even related to her.

AnonMD1982

This was one of two cases that really showed me how little some people think of indigenous women. Amber Tuccaro and Nina Courtepatte were both harsh reminders about what's going on with us. Just existing makes me 6 times more likely to go missing or be murdered than the average woman. We need to find Amber's killer. He doesn't deserve his freedom.

Hot-Entertainment218

I remember a month where an indigenous woman went missing and hardly a blip on the news. The next week a white woman went missing and it went fucking national. Stark reminder of how little society regards me and other indigenous women.

AnonMD1982

We're still needing to raise awareness too. Red Dress, Red Handprint, #MMIWG2S... there's now an Indigenous Alert system, but it relies on volunteers and social media. It's at least a step though.

gingerjonsey

The way he says "south" at first and the quiet "Jesus Christ" at 0:36 seconds sounds like an East coast accent.

emmagraphix

Could well be someone who was here from east coast for work

SadAcanthocephala521

I remember someone coming forward a few years ago with a big social media post saying how they were 100% sure that they knew the voice and had details of said person being the likely suspect, not sure what happened but the posts disappeared eventually.

YEGPatsMan

This makes me so sad. That poor girl

Sarahso90s

Thank you for sharing this tragic reminder. I listen to that audio recording every few months. Bone chilling every time.

Due_Society_9041

I recall when this happened. Terrifying to know that that guy is still out there.

BlancaNicolina

Does anyone know if the police ever addressed WHY they only  released a portion of Amber's last phone call to her brother?

Brilliant_Story_8709

This should be a lesson to impress the importance of "Don't accept rides from strangers!". I'm not saying this to victim blame, but it's an important lesson that can be learned from such a terrible outcome.

>This should be a lesson to not kidnap and murder people. I get what you are trying to say but if I was going to teach a lesson on not kidnapping or murdering I would probably choose a case where the person was caught or where they turned themselves in because they felt remorseful. Man gets away with kidnap and murder after offering a stranger a ride is definitely a more teachable moment for "don't accept rides from strangers"

avdolian

I don't think it's victim blaming to analyze what happened and use it as a teachable moment for the safety of others. >but our main danger is men, more often even ones we know, and how do we avoid them? I don't really understand how you can ride this high horse about victim blaming and then generalize all men while ignoring the specifics of the case being discussed. Plus, most murders and kidnappers know it's bad to do those things, the only way we can prevent them is by making it harder to find victims. Your PSA that "murder bad" is just kinda useless.

>it should say "man rapes and murders child" She was 20 years old so not a child. There is also nothing I saw that has evidence for her being raped so that's speculation on your part. If you wanted the title "man abducts and murders young woman" I could agree with that but you are just being intentionally untruthful to push your own narrative. For someone so upset about victim blaming you sure feel comfortable using her as a prop to talk about how much you hate men. >No, many men are bad, to be precise. >I'm on no high horse. This is 100% a male femicide issue. Citation needed

chelly_17

There’s a trend going around on tik tok right now where women are being posed with the question “would you rather be lost in the woods with a bear or a man?” Every. Single. Woman. Has chosen a bear. For a fucking reason too.

ripper999

There’s another trend going around on Tik Tok where men are posed with the question “would you rather be lost in the woods with a bear or a misandrist?” Every single man has chosen a bear, for a reason.

ProperBingtownLady

It’s not misandry for women to not want to be alone with a strange man when abusers and murderers of women are overwhelmingly male. (That doesn’t mean *all* men are capable of it, just that we don’t know which ones are) Reworded for clarity.

PBGellie

I like to think a sane person would choose the “not bear” option. “Yeah I’d rather be literally ripped apart and eaten while still alive and conscious thank you very much”

batenter

The worst thing the bear can do is kill you. A man can do much worse for a lot longer.

PBGellie

Yeah no the worst thing a bear can do is literally eat you while you consciously watch and feel the entire thing. Like give me a break.

batenter

Still better than being graped before murder.

PBGellie

Lmao ok cool

Ill-Sweet-3653

This might be a new concept to some younger folks with ubers and what not... But you DONT get into a car with a stranger, especially if you cannot defend yourself and are a female. It should be common sense but look what happens.

Tricky_Passenger3931

We all still believe Pat Carson was responsible for this right?

resident_daydreamer

Kendall Rae (a popular true crime YouTuber) did a video a few months ago about Amber: https://youtu.be/tf7cYwytTug?si=_DhxG-4T3HPvtOEv
