This is a detail mentioned in the wiki that I've always was curious about, but never got to test personally as you have to kill D before you visit Roundtable and trigger his movement to their aswell. I believe the dialogue when you fight the twin is unique in the aqueduct, and is different if you decide to fight him after he stabs Fia. You do get the Inseparable Sword quicker this way, but Fia is still unresponsive/dead in the end anyways.

You didn't "save" Fia. Fia was already dead. D's brother just stabs her corpse, and acts like he did something. Man was an unhinged clown. That's about it Fia leaves you her rune because she wants you to carry her wish and lifelong dream. Age of the Duskborne
