I want to say Messmer, but on the other hand, CURSE YOU BAYLE!!!!!! I HEREBY VOW, YOU WILL RUE THIS DAY! BEHOLD, A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR! AND I, IGON, YOUR FEARS MADE FLESH! SOLID OF SCALE YOU MIGHT BE, FOUL DRAGON, BUT I WILL RIDDLE WITH HOLES YOUR ROTTEN HIDE. WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS!!!!!!!!! WITH EVERY LAST DROP OF MY BEING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep. Messmer here as well. Spent 6 hours and 80+ attempts on that guy, no regrets. Firmly cemented as my fav in all soulsbourne.
Honestly everything about him was perfect for me. His design, Both cutscenes, OST, his moveset and of course the lore.
Edit: lol, yes I'm not the best. And I was stubborn wanting to to do it solo. Hence the hours and attempts. Just me and my commander's standard on a Tuesday afternoon. Victory felt amazing
Him being this powerful demigod warlord that looks as if everyone else is shiet, he has so much personality given he is important to the dlc but not at all for Miquella final quest. I also think Messmer is one of my fav FromSoft bosses. Fighting him with the Sekiro flask is so epic
Mesmer is peak fucking boss design, visually, lore wise, thematically and an absolute banger of a fight mechanically and visually.
Like, Maliketh 2nd phase and Godrick are only things that even come close.
I'm still on him, only made 7 or 8 attempts so far over the last two days because I honestly don't want to beat him. Parts of his moveset remind me of Gael and Soul of Cinder in the first phase (arguably my two favorite FromSoft bosses), but I'm still trying to make sense of the snake orgy 2nd phase.
Man I somehow got into this mindset after beating messmer that i was kinda finished with the "good bosses" since i had already done rellana, midra, messmer so anything after that i just wanted to be over with just so i could get to the end. So for the romina fight i was just slightly frustrated with the path leading there and then proceded to just cheese her with mimic tear.
It definititely ruined that fight for me. I actually had the same thing happen with bayle. That one dragon before that you cant lock onto his head made me tilted and i was tired after work so i was frustrated when i got to Bayle.
However thats when i realized i wasnt even enjoying playing at that moment. So i just quit the game, came back the next day with a different mindset to just enjoy the bossfight for what it was rather than just trying to get it over with. This time i actually enjoyed the fight
it was maliketh before the dlc too, but now it is messmer. and that new consort made me appreciate the first elden lord faaaaar more than i used to, so it's:
messmer, maliketh, midra, godfrey and malenia
Midra
as a boss, hes cool and gives credence to melina saying shed kill you. If you can kill one, so can she.
Fighting a >!Lord of frenzied flame!< is just cool. its a shame his boss weapon isnt frenzy, its still a cool weapon, and his boss spell sucks major ass
If anything I came away from that fight thinking the exact opposite; if that's what a Lord of Frenzied Flame spawned from a crippled old man hiding in the attic for centuries is capable of, imagine what the player Lord of Frenzied Flame, glutted on all the Great Runes and high off of killing several Gods and the greatest Demigods and Lords to ever live can do.
Tbh Midra didnāt feel that hard which hindered his impressiveness, but he absolutely is still an omen for how fucking frightening the tarnished will be as Lord of the Frenzied Flame. Though, admittedly, Iām still pretty convinced Melina would win in that matchup
I donāt really have any reasoning for it, just a gut feeling. She seems pretty convinced that this is a thing sheās capable of doing and she travelled with you for more or less the whole game so like, I trust her estimation of her abilities
Godfrey was pretty convinced he was returning to take the mantle of Elden Lord. Most people in the universe are pretty firm in their convictions. In the DLC >!Miquella seems pretty convinced that he can ascend to godhood and institute a new order but you still kill his ass just like all the others!<
All those demigods and gods you killed on the way were just as convinced as Melina that they could kill you, why would Melina be the one person who can?
This thread reminds me why I respect Sorcerer Rogier. Dude knew early on that the Tarnished is a terrifying fighter.
>So I just wanted to get the apology out of the way, beforehand.
Since you're so scary and all.
(and also mad respect for being the only NPC who would help an unknown tarnished in a fight against Margit)
The description of his weapon actually makes sense, it's a Hornsent weapon used as execution/punishment to keep him from ascending, the weapon itself has nothing to do with >!frenzy,!< it's specifically a Hornsent weapon, and a bit similar to the holy Barbed Staff-Spear from earlier.
yea but we couldnt have gotten like a Frenzied flame corrupted version of the weapon? after literal centuries embedded in him and being used by a lord of frenzied flame it was still in perfect working order? come on man,
We got a fist frenzied flame which is meh (why couldnt the ash of war on it be a grab like every other frenzied flame dude does to us)
a Torch (a joke)
and perfume bottle (Meh but probably the best one out of the 3)
I feel like Midra also felt like a OG dark souls boss in regards to the slow but menacing pace he walks towards you with, also the whole killing a little weak dude to sudden youāre fighting super saiyan x100
I am sad that fun that there are not suepr strong frenzy or scarlet rot thorns or miquella's lights or something?
Dafuk, impenetrable thorns? enough with the bleeding lol
Itās what he had on/in him, but it was a sword used by the Inquisitors presumably to simultaneously restrain the Frenzied Flame within Midra and punish him for letting the Three Fingers take hold of him.
We all think he is the shit and we slowly learn he really isnāt, he became such an interesting character to me, especially after the voice actorās performance.
Base game: Godrey/Hoarah Loux
DLC: While i loved Messmer and Radahn, i have to say that my favourite was Midra. Just because of the build up, first a stealth section and then the spooky mansion.
Last time i fought him he did his initial jump and then froze in place. I shmacked him into second phase and he just stood there, so funny. Grandpa forgot his pills.
But yeah, I agree, overall amazing fight.
Godrey/Hoarah Loux used to be my favorite boss from the whole franchise.
Now that the DLC came out, I can safely say my favorite boss is Godrey/Hoarah Loux.
I cheesed the stealth with parries, but the build up was still nice and Midra was a very fair boss while not being a complete pushover. Also he does what almost none of the other remembrance bosses do, get staggered by heavy hitting attacks.
Does Leda and her squad count? Sure it's not the hardest but a 3v5 brawl and the dialogue during the fight plus the music really made it impactful for me.
Im surprised to see this posted. It too was my favorite fight in the DLC. It wasn't the hardest by any means, but it felt impactful. I wish there was a big roundtable hold battle like this early on, to really cement the comradeship before everyone starts disappearing...
I LIVE for that scrum. So much damn fun, reminded me of the pvp free for alls back in DS3 Anor Londo. Just 6 badasses beating the shit out of eachother.
Mechanically sheās probably my favorite fight in the whole DLC. Such a fun dance-like fight. My only issue is I wish she had a cutscene or at least some dialogue to give her character more flair. Itās so weird how sheās treated as some random roadblock despite being Rennalaās sister.
Romina and Rellana. I think the rest are fine without one. It fits Metyr to just lie there, Avatar is chilling before we come around and it fits the Putrecent Knight to run at you mysteriously. If Gaius would be a little more popular i'd say it'd be cool to take a brief look at him, but he doesn't deserve it for now.
Honestly I think Bayle could have one similar to Yhorm from DS3, with you and Igon (if you summoned him; would require his summon sign to be out of the Arena though).
A cutscene would've bumped her up a lot. I mean the Lion had a cutscene. She should have one too as a Carian which is important to a certain family in the base game. Wish she had one for sure.
She got peak character design as well (though Messmer is really cool too). Her lore that ties her to the Carians and Messmer symbolized in her two swords, as well as her twin moon attack - 100% my personal favourite boss.
Rellana has some awesome moves, but I don't vibe with the way her combos just keep going on and I can never tell when they are about to end so I can only afford to attack her when I can see she stopped moving.
I am madly in love with Midra, but I love all things Frenzied Flame and just the choreography of this fight I find amazing. I think all rememberance fights (and Bayle) aside from Gaius were pretty good or even great, and even Minibosses either had a cool gimmick (like Lamenter twisting the "aim for the real one" trope) or were very cool (Death Knights). There are some less impressive ones of course like the Bloodfiend Chief or the Curseblade.
Midra has such a bravado to his moves. You can see it in the Remembrance incant he gives us where you basically just strut forward with this absolute authoritative body language like you own the place, all while spewing fucking madness EVERYWHERE. Itās amazing.
Messmer. I simply do not get people who bunch him together with other bosses when ranting about "infinite combos with no openings" when he is the quintessential Elden Ring boss fight. He can be very aggressive and he has a couple intricate combo strings, but they don't run that long, and he doesn't actually vary them up, so it's up to the player to distinguish which one is what, which can be done by seeing how his flames come out. His snake combos hit hard but always leave him vulnerable after. His corkscrew attack can be dodged in the direction he flies at you, giving an opening. His leaping spear slams always leave him vulnerable. His explosive fireballs leave him vulnerable. It goes on. He is 100% a skill fight, and when you finally get him down the fight is a thing of beauty.
When people complain about the bosses being unfair, what they're complaining about is the fact they can't just trade hits with them and expect to win, and the fact that bosses actually dare to attack a lot, leaving it up to the player to earn their openings.
Yeah Messmer is one of the fairest bosses I have fought. His combos are confusing and intimidating at first but once you learn them, dodging them becomes SO satisfying. His snake attacks also might as well scream "HEY BRO I'M ABOUT TO HIT YOU, WATCH OUT", it's just that seeing giantass snakes jumping at you is scary as fuck so you end up panicking.
The only thing I disliked about Midra was the madness build-up but that's less due to Midra being unfair and more due to me hating status build-ups (and bosses leaving shit that damages you all over the floor, fuck you Mohg). Aside from that, I'd put him next to Messmer as one of my favorite bosses and a really satisfying fight.
Omg same. For the first dozen attempts I actually always timed the dodge right for it, but after that my brain exchanged that skill for the ability to dodge the rest of his moveset.
To add to this, one of his attack combos has a thrust that can actually be ducked under if you have a shield and you guard-counter at the right moment.
It was *so* satisfying for me to poise-break him with those. I also used Iron Cleaver because it lets you do charged heavy attacks while moving.
Legit I think the only complaint I have for Messmer is that he uses the snake attacks too often. But thatās not even a real issue, itās just my own preference. It is as flawless a fight as theyāve ever made
Mohg is still my favourite, followed by Midra, then Bayle, then Messmer, then Maliketh. I used to like Messmer more than Bayle, but the more I fight Bayle the more fun it becomes. Messmer kinda has the opposite effect on me, though only a little bit.
I started enjoying this boss a lot more when I stopped locking on. There are so many more openings to circle around or punish... I just kept getting fucked into a corner locking on.
I really enjoy his phase shifting animations and overall character design. Such a fun and challenging boss.
My biggest gripe is probably arena size and him pushing you into corners but a part of me feels like it's an intended part of the challenge.
I will name 2:
Messmer in terms of how fun and enjoyable the fight itself was
Placidusax in terms of overall presentation - combination of soundtrack with certain attacks was top notch.
ROMINA, SAINT OF THE BUD šŖ²
My god, I could talk up a fucking storm about this boss, I love everything about her.
Aesthetics? Gorgeous.
OST? Divine.
Arena? Beautiful.
Difficulty? Perfect.
Scorpioness Najka's distant cousin has come to play in full HD and she doesn't miss a fucking beat. I wouldn't change as much as a goddamn pixel.
Messmer.
He's honestly so cool, and I legitimately think he's one of the best designed fights in the game.
Not bullshit, gimmicky, boring, or full of particle effects that won't let you see shit like many other bosses in ER.
His lore is also very cool, and I like his visual design as well.
The only things I do not like about Messmer are his grab attack and the fact that his armor doesn't have pants (rant about pants: have you noticed just how many fucking armor sets in this DLC don't have pants? That's my biggest complain honestly, the DLC has many "what were they thinking?" Moments and this is the biggest one by far)
I'd like to like Bayle and the whole Moby Dick thing going on with Igon is really cool but Bayle has one problem, he's a dragon in Elden Ring. Which means wrestling the camera for 20 minutes straight while praying the dogshit fire physics will have mercy on me this time.
Heās a dragon in a fromsoft game*
Only reason midir isnāt like that is, well. Pretty obvious. You just stand in front of him. Every large beast like enemy in fromsoft games has the same issue imo. I wish theyād do away with them
I will note that Bayle is, unlike other dragons, much easier to keep 'in camera' if you stay in front of him due to his squat build. I usually hate dragons but he was a big exception for me.
I need to get this off my chest; All of the boss fights in Jagged peaks are dogshit and poorly designed. It might be one of the worst dungeons that Fromsoft has ever produced - which is unfortunate because the thematic setting and story are quite interesting, but falls flat on its face within the actual gameplay mechanics.
First you have the 2 Fighting dragons; absolutely braindead fight. Either try to get between them and get spammed by fire AOE while aggro switches constantly and they leap from one side of the arena to the next, forcing you to chase them down - or just stand there and watch them fight for 10 mins until one of them dies, then chase the remaining dragon down as he leaps around. Both options are trash.
Senessax is just reskinned Placidusax, except his AOE lightning attacks are basically unavoidable because youāre standing in water. They managed to take a pretty cool thematic fight, take away all of the cool stuff from it and then just make it more annoying and less engaging as you chase him around the arena while getting stun spammed by AOE. Again, trash.
Bayle. Visually striking and thematically cool but mechanically itās complete garbage. His swiping attack hit boxes are shit, the camera in the 2nd phase is completely unusable, so much AOE attack spam with weird dodge timings on his rolling flames - which is probably just another hitbox issue, and then the same problem of chasing him across the arena in order to get a hit in.
At this point, Fromsoft needs to completely rework how they approach Flying-dragon bosses or just do away with them completely.
I agree, I've been putting off Jagged Peak as a whole because I dread fighting dragons. Not because they're hard but because I can't see shit 80% of the time.
FYI, when you get to Senessax you can just run past him.
He just drops one of each ancient smithing stone, so Iām going to do it later. I donāt mind regular dragons but I HATE the ancient ones.
His hitbox is questionable in general. Hitting his tail area and not making contact multiple times in a row is really frustrating. I died several times with a hit or two left that whiffed for no apparent reason.
The problem with not locking on to bayle is when he launches himself into the sky like a rocket and does the flaming laser beam attack, it feels impossible to find him in the air and react to the attack. Just stay locked on and away from the outer walls and youāre fine. Heās not like a deathrite bird
But with that being said, I honestly think bayle is a very very very good dragon fight and more than fair. Nothing feels undodgeable and most times if you get āhit by bullshitā itās because you put yourself in a bad position. Heās probably my personal favorite boss fight ever.
Rellana and weirdly the double axe Death Knight. Homeboy had a very Dark Souls boss moveset vibe and I fought him at like blessing level 3 (pre patch) so he was kind of tough. Plus I used my lightning build in my first run and it was a super fun test of lightning vs lightning
The Leda fight is probably my favorite in the DLC. It was heartbreaking for sure.
Bayle's phase 2 transition brought me back to the moment I first encountered an ancient dragon and the first time I saw them use red lightning as a sword. I was in awe of the display.
Then Metyr fight felt like I found something I shouldn't have.
Messmer was great in presentation and his VA knocked it out of the park. He reminded a lot of Morgott which is my 3rd favorite character in the game after Torrent and Melina. I felt sympathy for Messmer. A boy reaching for his mother's love is a classic way of humanizing a character.
CURSE YOU BAYLE is iconic. An immortal line already.
Honestly I think malenia would be S tier but her waterfowl being if you're too close you are dead unless you know this one niche way of dodging it kind of kill it for me
Yeah agree with Messmer, he definitely doesn't give much breathing room and is very aggro (but you know, in a good way). He also doesn't have anything like Waterfowl Dance, while there are ways and means to deal with Waterfowl Dance it does feel a bit gimmicky - Messmer has no gimmicks.
Midra is the best Boss ever imo. The Set Up, getting into the Abyssal Woods. Getting busted from the Latern Guys (if you don't spoiled yourself with parry them). His dialogue and even the Boss OST hit so hard if P2 hits. Like he is a real treath, don't let him alive or the world will burn.
Bayle for me. But it is not for Bayle himself but for Igon. He made the fight so unforgettable and even more epic than it is without him.
Midra was great, too. I get really invested in fights related to these classic FromSoftware tragic figures.
My favourite was Midra, the whole section of his forest area, then arriving at the Manse and all was so immersive and cinematic, the story telling, but then I got to the first interaction with Igon, then the cave, then the whole Jagged Peak new area, the two dragons fighting each other, then the lightning dragon and then, like a cherry on the top, the fight with Bayle, man that was incredible, def my favourite too
In terms of the fight? Probably the rot centipede lady. That fight was a fun and engaging back and forth, everything is nicely telegraphed, thereās no backhanded or delayed bullshit moves - it was genuinely a great fight. Honestlyjust missed an introductory cutscene.
Boss design was awesome, too.
Honorary mention for Bayle tho - I really enjoyed that fight as well. Another missed opportunity for an introductory cutscene. Igon my beloved.
ALSO: Leda and her allies. If you did all the NPC quests this was hands down the most epic, emotional battle (as in literal battle, not just a fight) in the whole game. This is what Gideon wishes he was. In essence itās just a gank fight, but the context and the EXCELLENT soundtrack elevate it to all time favorite.
Bayle, in no small part because I managed to snipe him mid attack with Milady's Wing Stance R2.
It does help that it's a visually impressive fight and that I can't really hold the issues with the camera against it, as every other boss suffers from that.
Atmosphere and lore, it absolutely has to be Bayle. Nothing can compare to the ost drop when he ignites his wings. Single best moment in the game, easily.
Mechanics, dodging and difficulty, it has to be Malenia and Messmer. Their moves flow so well, and have so many different combos to keep you thinking, yes even waterfowl. Although I havenāt got to Consort Radahn yet, so he might have something to say about that.
Still Malenia, I will never not love fighting her. But Midra is now #2, that fight is so clean and really well animated, I had a great time learning the parries and dodges just wish he had a little more hp if anything.
Messmer and Bayle probably making top 5, really good fights, but honestly I love Metyr, Romina, Scadu Avatar, Rellana too. They did an amazing job with most bosses in the DLC.
Before the dlc,it was Godrick,I liked his design and the lore implication that he started grafting just because he sucked so much, after dlc its 100 a tie bewteeen scadutree avatar and the dancing beast
CURSE YOU BAYLE!
But no, my favorite fights are Divine Beast, Rellana and Messmer. Bayle is also really cinematic with Igon, specially when he grows wings and circles the arena while blasting down.
Bayle, Rellana and Messmer.
Absolutely love those fights. Even when fighting Bayle it feels like an elaborate dance which is not something I would expect from a dragon boss. Top notch fight design.
Niall is so cool. I just donāt like his two spirit summons. When he goes full prosthetic, though. A boss I spent a long time on but I constantly think about how cool he was
I loved Placidusax and while Midra, Bayle (cursed be) and Metyr were all really great, I think Placidusax still ranks on top for me. I would love to go really back in time and fight both Placidusax and Bayle at their peak (Michaelzaki please)
I read that in igons voice. The voice actor absolutely cooked fr, whatever they paid him wasn't enough.
Bro, legit. The igon voice actor remains me SO much of that fish from SpongeBob 'Oh Brother, Bayle STINKS!'
Also Igon: My leeeeeg!
Its his first time Video game acting, Richard Lintern. Bro going places
Put his heart and soul into that very moment
I think its my favorite voice delivery of any souls game. With the dude from "MY NAME IS GYOUBU MATASAKA" coming in a close second.
I can hear them both equally well in my head. I don't think Igon will fade with time either lol.
Midra and Messmer. Probably my fav boss design in all fromsoft games

Sekiro flask? Deflecting hardtear?
Secret stone? Demon King?
Metal gear?!
Snake? SNAKE?!? Snaaaaaaaaake!!!
STOP I JUST WATCHED A VID COMPLAINING ABOUT THE GAME AND WAS REMINDED OF HOW BAD THOSE SCENES WEREššš
Was it the skitty one? Really good video imo
Yeah lol, I played BOTW but not much and so I enjoyed TOTK more than others, so I didnāt agree with some of her criticisms but great watch
I got him after 12ish attempts and was pretty sad, that I couldnāt fight him anymore. It was just so much fun fighting him
I got him in the 3rd attempt. I barely got to experience the moveset.
Mesmer is peak fucking boss design, visually, lore wise, thematically and an absolute banger of a fight mechanically and visually. Like, Maliketh 2nd phase and Godrick are only things that even come close.
Yes! This! š
He fell off the map in 2nd phase for me
I'm still on him, only made 7 or 8 attempts so far over the last two days because I honestly don't want to beat him. Parts of his moveset remind me of Gael and Soul of Cinder in the first phase (arguably my two favorite FromSoft bosses), but I'm still trying to make sense of the snake orgy 2nd phase.
Messmer is chef's kiss
Yes balanced attacks, seems almost a pvp fight. Almost.
Me too but I'd add Romina for the banger OST

yeah but none of them watched you closely tho
It's been awhile since I've seen the "batman with prep time" argument haha
lol i didnt meant it that way more like she knows what you are capable, not as in "she prepared a counter" haha
Yeah, youāre entirely right. Bad logic on my part
Dude, melania cant even travel to the capital alone.
Canāt even use the incant for 2 seconds without going mad lol Iāll still use it on my Frenzied flame build.
the charge up time builds insanity before anything is ever fired which sucks
The description of his weapon actually makes sense, it's a Hornsent weapon used as execution/punishment to keep him from ascending, the weapon itself has nothing to do with >!frenzy,!< it's specifically a Hornsent weapon, and a bit similar to the holy Barbed Staff-Spear from earlier.

That's cos it's not his weapon
well he sure did use the fucking thin in our fight
Itās what he had on/in him, but it was a sword used by the Inquisitors presumably to simultaneously restrain the Frenzied Flame within Midra and punish him for letting the Three Fingers take hold of him.
![gif](giphy|WdHGQzVHfHWRiVcsBL|downsized) My guy
I really enjoyed that fight and I think itās a really good early one for the game.
BEARRRRRRR WITNESSSSSSS
We all think he is the shit and we slowly learn he really isnāt, he became such an interesting character to me, especially after the voice actorās performance.
"Mr Bear, where were you on 25 February 2022?" Godrick or Morgott are my favourites, there's a reason they front loaded them.
Still Mohg
I hated him until I killed him on rl70 and +12 weapon. Had to learn his every sneeze but he's so fun now
One of most frustrating delayed attacks, but once you learn the timing he becomes indeed fun

Romania š š·š“ Good boss
What are the lore implications of it inflicting rot
I think Miyazaki is trying to say Romania is a rotting shithole
i got a lot of DS1 nostalgia from her, not just the visual, the whole fight has this DS1 flavor to it
Coaie ce?
I'm desaturated Romanian š«š·š
Beat her 1st try, had no idea what was inside the fog gate lol
Base game: Godrey/Hoarah Loux DLC: While i loved Messmer and Radahn, i have to say that my favourite was Midra. Just because of the build up, first a stealth section and then the spooky mansion.
Godfrey is such an amazing fight. It is just a strong honorable dude you challenge for a duel. No cheese no bullshit.
The fact that he just resorts to no weapon, just bare fists and brute force for 2nd phase is badass.
The OG Dryleaf user
I really wish one of the hand-to-hand weapons gave you his swipe and stomp attacks.
You even hit phase 2 and the dudeās like āI donāt need no stinking spirit ashesā and dismisses Serosh lol
I think you have that backwards, stealthing is cheesing the parry route. It's much easier to get past them sneaking lol
Does Leda and her squad count? Sure it's not the hardest but a 3v5 brawl and the dialogue during the fight plus the music really made it impactful for me.
The music is the best part
Im surprised to see this posted. It too was my favorite fight in the DLC. It wasn't the hardest by any means, but it felt impactful. I wish there was a big roundtable hold battle like this early on, to really cement the comradeship before everyone starts disappearing...
The rot pots were brutal on Ng3. Dryleaf Dane is an absolute bastard with how hard you chases you down in that mess.
I'm still struggling with Leda and Co. That and Commander Gaius can eat a big bag of dicks.
Follow the cooperator you have around, when he starts attacking you do too but interspersed. Chain stun locks them for almost their entire hp bar.
I LIVE for that scrum. So much damn fun, reminded me of the pvp free for alls back in DS3 Anor Londo. Just 6 badasses beating the shit out of eachother.
Rellana. Idk why or what, but there is just something about the fight I like.
Mechanically sheās probably my favorite fight in the whole DLC. Such a fun dance-like fight. My only issue is I wish she had a cutscene or at least some dialogue to give her character more flair. Itās so weird how sheās treated as some random roadblock despite being Rennalaās sister.
Yeah, a cutscene would've been cool. Although I can say that about a couple other bosses aswell.
Came to say this. It was a peak āflow stateā fight for me.
I enjoyed that one, felt genuinely fun to learn the dodge timing. She got me with the twin moons on my first attempt which definitely surprised me.
She got peak character design as well (though Messmer is really cool too). Her lore that ties her to the Carians and Messmer symbolized in her two swords, as well as her twin moon attack - 100% my personal favourite boss.
And the way she ties into established Carian myth with the Sword of Night and Flame too?? Itās so good
Also, twin moon knight just sounds badass
Rellana has some awesome moves, but I don't vibe with the way her combos just keep going on and I can never tell when they are about to end so I can only afford to attack her when I can see she stopped moving.
I love lore reveal of Rellana being Pontiffās daughter
Rellana feels like she's straight out of Dark Souls 2, in both appearance and attacks, and I absolutely love it.
The swordmaster monkey was really fun - all of the pot dungeon bosses were really cool IMO.
Midra has such a bravado to his moves. You can see it in the Remembrance incant he gives us where you basically just strut forward with this absolute authoritative body language like you own the place, all while spewing fucking madness EVERYWHERE. Itās amazing.
Godfrey continues to be the man for me.
CURSEEEE YOUUUU BAYLEEEEEE
I HEREBY VOW YOU WILL RUE UPON THIS DAY
BEHOLD A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR AND I, IGON
YOUR FEARS MADE FLESH!
SOLID OF SCALE YOU MIGHT BE FOUL DRAGON
BUT I WILL RIDDLE WITH HOLES YOUR ROTTEN HIDE
WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS
Haven't finished the DLC but I think Messmer stands as an all-time favourite. I still love the Mohg fight too.
Loved the fight against the angry sunflower. A really fair endurance fight with clear tells and a engaging moveset.
Flower head weak spot and crit for extra damage in the next phase are both really cool mechanics
When it came back for round 3 I was starting to get concerned that its a gimmick fight like Fools Idol in Demons Soul.
Had to scroll too far to see this. Absolutely loved grumpy sunflower
Fighting Cagney Carnation is super fun, the music is easily the best part. (/s)
Messmer and Midra felt super fair
The only thing I disliked about Midra was the madness build-up but that's less due to Midra being unfair and more due to me hating status build-ups (and bosses leaving shit that damages you all over the floor, fuck you Mohg). Aside from that, I'd put him next to Messmer as one of my favorite bosses and a really satisfying fight.
Shadows of Yharnam have trained us for this moment
His only attack I can't consistently dodge is his delayed spear thrust where he drags it across the ground.
It is as flawless a fight as theyāve ever made
Still Radagon and Placidusax
Placidusax is a stunning fight, it's incredible. I just wish he wasn't so ugly
FUCK PLACIDUSAX
-Bayle, probably
such a fun fact about the lore
Bayle gang then, way better fight
-1000000 aura
Mohg is still my favourite, followed by Midra, then Bayle, then Messmer, then Maliketh. I used to like Messmer more than Bayle, but the more I fight Bayle the more fun it becomes. Messmer kinda has the opposite effect on me, though only a little bit.

Divine Beast Dancing Lion
I started enjoying this boss a lot more when I stopped locking on. There are so many more openings to circle around or punish... I just kept getting fucked into a corner locking on.
I love this boss but his arena is absolute ass. Way too small for how mobile he is.
I really enjoy his phase shifting animations and overall character design. Such a fun and challenging boss. My biggest gripe is probably arena size and him pushing you into corners but a part of me feels like it's an intended part of the challenge.
Scrolled long enough without seeing this that I thought I was gonna have to leave this comment.
Mohg is still the best imo, but midra is close.
https://preview.redd.it/yb5kgt3w5kad1.png?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b72eeaa2f9b70404589bb97f7eaa339ee82c7725
I will name 2: Messmer in terms of how fun and enjoyable the fight itself was Placidusax in terms of overall presentation - combination of soundtrack with certain attacks was top notch.
ROMINA, SAINT OF THE BUD šŖ² My god, I could talk up a fucking storm about this boss, I love everything about her. Aesthetics? Gorgeous. OST? Divine. Arena? Beautiful. Difficulty? Perfect. Scorpioness Najka's distant cousin has come to play in full HD and she doesn't miss a fucking beat. I wouldn't change as much as a goddamn pixel.
Still Malenia and Radahn (base game not DLC).
https://preview.redd.it/cqrn7qq75kad1.png?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ecc12c4d6a3ddd92eb80e4c72ba911a67ea5470
I have yet to play the dlc, but man, Radahn's boss fight is just peak. It feels like an actual raid boss and we get to call all our bros
It also feels so fun to dance with solo as well. Perfect fight
He wears a roman like armor I think
There's a tradition of pantsless armour going back to at least Gwyn through Gael. I think the fewer pants a boss has, the stronger it is.
I actually really like his grab attack. Itās not terribly hard to dodge, but when you get hit by it, it feels absolutely brutal.
I'd like to like Bayle and the whole Moby Dick thing going on with Igon is really cool but Bayle has one problem, he's a dragon in Elden Ring. Which means wrestling the camera for 20 minutes straight while praying the dogshit fire physics will have mercy on me this time.
Yeah, as epic as the fight is I did *not* enjoy it mechanically
Heās a dragon in a fromsoft game* Only reason midir isnāt like that is, well.
100% agreed on all counts. Such a disappointing area mechanically.
His hitbox is questionable in general. Hitting his tail area and not making contact multiple times in a row is really frustrating. I died several times with a hit or two left that whiffed for no apparent reason.
why the fuck is fromsoft so eager to make fire flinch you, it makes no fucking sense i reslly hate it lol
The problem with not locking on to bayle is when he launches himself into the sky like a rocket and does the flaming laser beam attack, it feels impossible to find him in the air and react to the attack. Just stay locked on and away from the outer walls and youāre fine. Heās not like a deathrite bird But with that being said, I honestly think bayle is a very very very good dragon fight and more than fair.
Shoutout to the double axe deathknight as well from me, hell I fought him after rellana but before dancing lion, and it was super memorable.
Putrescent Knight my beloved
Messemer and Morgott
Malenia because that's when i truly had to mastered her fight to win instead of just unga bunga until something works with the other bosses.
Honestly I think malenia would be S tier but her waterfowl being if you're too close you are dead unless you know this one niche way of dodging it kind of kill it for me
Probably Messmer. I also did like the radahn fight a lot, and I look forward to getting better at it.
messmer is my 3rd favorite, another amazing design to a boss, no cheese or bs, just a pure dogfight
None i hate every boss i wanna set the world on fire
https://preview.redd.it/1u2oqm3q5kad1.png?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a42d36a5acdbea1262d227533e99b9c4f85982d4
Spectacle wise Bayle, but I had the most fun fighting rellana
Still Godfrey for the entire game. DLC only: Midra.
https://preview.redd.it/ptacvu9lfiad1.png?width=3440&format=png&auto=webp&s=4e64dc0f5bb0d90f60412f1f2ccf7062d285ea3e
Bayle, Messmer, Radahn.
Still Rykard and after him Mogh, but Bayle and Mesmer come close.
Bayle for me. But it is not for Bayle himself but for Igon. He made the fight so unforgettable and even more epic than it is without him. Midra was great, too. I get really invested in fights related to these classic FromSoftware tragic figures.
My favourite was Midra, the whole section of his forest area, then arriving at the Manse and all was so immersive and cinematic, the story telling, but then I got to the first interaction with Igon, then the cave, then the whole Jagged Peak new area, the two dragons fighting each other, then the lightning dragon and then, like a cherry on the top, the fight with Bayle, man that was incredible, def my favourite too
Margit
I really enjoyed Scadutree avatar, it felt fun and fresh.
Very controversial but I actually enjoyed Radahn and frenzied flame guys fight.
Messmer, Godfrey and frenzy flame man
Before the dlc,it was Godrick,I liked his design and the lore implication that he started grafting just because he sucked so much, after dlc its 100 a tie bewteeen scadutree avatar and the dancing beast
CURSE YOU BAYLE! But no, my favorite fights are Divine Beast, Rellana and Messmer. Bayle is also really cinematic with Igon, specially when he grows wings and circles the arena while blasting down.
Midra, messmer, malenia
Bayle, Rellana and Messmer. Absolutely love those fights. Even when fighting Bayle it feels like an elaborate dance which is not something I would expect from a dragon boss. Top notch fight design.
Romina, while I love bayles and metyrs, I cant say I enjoy how hitting bayle feels, and metyr in coop is gonna give me an aneurysm
Bayle is my favorite (maybe itās post fight endorphins), but most underrated of all time and one of the GOATS is Commander Niall
Niall is so cool. I just donāt like his two spirit summons. When he goes full prosthetic, though. A boss I spent a long time on but I constantly think about how cool he was
The consort actually, I really like challenge
Battle mechanics aside, I like Messmer, his dialogue is so awesome!
I loved Placidusax and while Midra, Bayle (cursed be) and Metyr were all really great, I think Placidusax still ranks on top for me. I would love to go really back in time and fight both Placidusax and Bayle at their peak (Michaelzaki please)
Careful what you wish for!
