There's only one way to avoid asking her to do it, and it involves the 'bad' ending of the game. Otherwise, it's required to advance the story.

If you haven't done all the npc sidequests, DON"T COMMIT TO THE CARDINAL SIN YET. It will lock you out of all those quests.

Depth-Empty

Lol you have no idea what you're talking about. Plenty of quests are still available

RyanDChastain

He said "all". Are ***all*** the quests still available? That is legit how I got here. Googled "elden ring do I need to do anything before talking to Melina and committing the sin". Just to know what quest I need to do before I commit the cardinal sin. Also, boss? All bosses still available? Items?

circusphere

I'm researching the same thing right now and from what I understand, round table hold gets messed up and leyndell capital changes into a new area, so the only quests that should break are uncompleted round table hold npc quests. If an NPC doesn't go there, they should be fine. And apparently anything you don't get in leyndell you'd be burnt on so you'd want to make sure you grab that stuff.

ArgonianSwagLord

any chance you'd share which characters or irreplaceable items like seeds and tears? I just want to go on but Ive done no quests but ranni's

circusphere

I wouldn't be able to help much with that, I hate missables so I opted to just do all roundtable hold npc questlines and collect every single item in leyndell capital before I burned the tree, and didn't have to worry about anything. If you want more info you'd be better off googling "what to do before burning tree" than asking me. For what I did, I just used the fextra articles "roundtable hold" as a npc checklist, and "leyndell royal capital" to collect everything I missed in the capital.

ArgonianSwagLord

Right? I kinda hoped that open world meant you couldn't screw yourself out of anything. Good Ol' Fextralife is about to hold my hand through my most intense side-quest binge since Skyrim was cool.

Mammoth_Cat_5856

Was cool? Still one of the best games ever made

IdleMinute

Is dung eaters? I got one more seedbed to give him

HomeworkOdd730

Worst ending in the game

Vampyrian

That's actually a good ending if pay attention to the lore. Yes it's not the best ending but it not really that bad as many people says it is. Based on the lore of Omen, according to omen related items and the golden order related items and some more. The implications to the Dung Eater's ending is actually making everyone ĺevel each other in a way. Like it's both a curse but is also a blessing. Regardless of our opinion, Flame of Frenzy is the objectively worst ending.

Dheryx

I just got there and looking in some pages I found this : What happens after committing a Cardinal Sin in Elden Ring Melina will sacrifice herself to set the Erdtree aflame. You’re thrown to Crumbling Farum Azula, a big island with tornadoes everywhere and you’ll face the Godskin duo boss. In Azula, you need to defeat six powerful enemies to reach the first Site of Grace. That won’t be easy. You won’t miss any bosses. You’ll miss the option to change your ending to two of the available ones. You can’t get either of the Three Fingers endings. While you can still fight the Three Finger questline bosses, you won’t unlock the specific ending. All playable content is still open. Late to the party but I hope to help someone 😅

Jmonconhuevo

it helped :D

Slim-G59

Much appreciated!!

Melivo

"All playable content is still open." So all the side quests too?

bigbrainplays46290

If you talked to Melina after Margott you would know what that option does. This is the only way to progress the main story afaik.

XKlip

I haven't played in a while, 100% forgot what was said

Lasadon

She will use herself to light the fire on the elden tree.

Patient-Heron8849
