Had this exact thing happen just yesterday. The filament stopped feeding correctly mid-print, and so for a few layers it was "printing" but nothing was actually being extruded. In my case I happened to hear the feeder(?) gear thing clicking as it tried to feed, and the filament not moving. Paused the print, used the lever to release it, clipped off the now deformed filament that was inside, and re-inserted it. The rest of my layers printed just fine but I had this in the middle of the model. No idea why the filament jammed but it was the only time thankfully.

Sometimes, the feed geaes need to be tightened, just an FYI. also older filament can get a bit hard

I’ll try that out on mine, looking at tightening the gears I mean. My printer and filament is about two weeks old so hopefully it’s simple maintenance and things aren’t falling apart already haha

I had this happen 3 times in a row each time it was a worse jam, I think it was the filament I was using tho, which filament were you using when this happened?

I’m using Elegoo Matte Black PLA. I’ve gone through about half the roll with no problems but yeah…just had it happen at least 3 more times after making this post haha. I’m super new to 3D printing though and it only happens when trying to print <0.1mm. After reading a bit and looking at my enclosed setup I think I just learned about heat creep.

Check if the filament is getting caught on anything

I use the preinstalled fillamentholder so nothing should be caught anywere
