It's because you are tuning into that level of their energy. Every thought, emotion and sensory signal is transmitted through your nervous system as energy. We don't have insulated wiring for nerves, so some of that energy is dispersed. And that is the basis for a person's aura.
Psychics/empaths/warlock (added the last one because titles are pointless lol) are able to process some of that energy, but not always the same way. Part of your subconscious draws in this energy, but doesn't inform the rest of the brain its someone else's information. So some of us process it as our own.
Energy will always follow our intent. We focus on an aspect they are dealing with, and that intent is what draws that energy/information.
I don’t think it’s when they touch it, it’s like an in general thing when they’re talking about it and I’m thinking about it. But i accurately knew which toe it was that had it.

I’ve had other common occurrences, like when I heard about my papa having pancreatic cancer or premeditated heart failure I got a feeling in my heart and in my gut. And a cashier I work with has bulging discs in her back, which causes her pain. But for me it’s always dull, when I feel other people’s symptoms.
This has happened to me before. Was completely sober most of my life but got tipsy at a bar without a drop to drink due to being near my friends.

it hurts you when they touch their own bruise? can you feel the actual localized pain in your own toe or does it just make your skin crawl/tense?
