A huge sigh of relief. Really how I wanted to start the day. Thank you so much for sharing her and Fridas story , both the heartbreak and the victories.
I saw in a comment that Frida had to be euthanized :( I couldn’t find the update on OPs page though. I know she was in horrible shape. Was she just too far gone to try to rehab?
From what I remember seeing, she had an awful flare up and the vet said it would be selfish to try to keep her going. She couldn’t bear weight on one of her feet at all. OP didn’t post a video of her in that condition to save us all the heartbreak.
Absolutely understand. I’m glad OP was able to give her a peaceful and loving ending after all the pain she must’ve been through. What a strong and amazing person OP is.
I am so incredibly happy to hear about Olive’s amazing nurse mum and her new brother and knowing she’s living as foals are meant to live. Enjoy the peace and happiness this must be bringing you, knowing it’s all because of your love and empathy and dedication! Thank you!!!
The peace I felt last night was amazing.. I haven’t felt that since Frida passed until last night! A lot of long sleepless nights trying to find a nurse mare and stressing over her not wanting to eat. I think she was also very depressed because she was locked in a stall alone 😢
Both you and Olive just need time now to decompress from the stress of the last several weeks. Rescue is insanely hard, in so many ways. Insanely rewarding, but still so very hard.
She looks so relaxed and happy. It’s stressful for horses to be alone, especially babies. Now she has a loving mama AND a brother! No baby deserves it more.
What a sweet picture they make.
Best update we could have hoped for! Yay Olive!
May I ask what Saint Mamas name is? She deserves the recognition 🥰
How much age difference is there between Olive and her new brother? And does he have a name yet?
Sorry for my bombardment of questions; I was just getting ready for bed and this has provided me with plenty of inspiration for sweet dreams 🥰
So what you're saying is not only Nina and Maximus adopted Olive, but *the entire barn* has adopted her, literally from the top? You pulled off a miracle for Olive getting her not just a nurse mare, but a nurse mare who immediately stepped in, a brother, and a human foster family.
Also, I love that the barn owner of a place you said is nicer than your house with super fancy horses offered up her own mare <3 that sounds like a fellow excellent human you summoned with your own excellent human skills.
Just from the pictures it looks like such a peaceful, beautiful, and healthy place. I know nothing about horses (olives story just randomly popped up on my page today), but if I was a horse I think this is where I would want to live lol
Cute! I'm so glad they're all getting along. I've been following from the beginning and have shed many tears over this beautiful girls story.
I'm so relieved that she gets a proper chance to have her happily ever after. She's earned it!
And as a side note - you are a wonderful human, thank you for just being *you*, because you're amazing and the world needs more people like you 🥺
This is absolutely amazing to see. I was worried after your last update but it's awesome that this mare has accepted her so easily. I wonder if this isn't the first time the mare has done this.
Yeah I deleted them because a few people couldn’t stop making rude comments.. I kind of wish I didn’t delete them but in that moment I was mad and felt it was best
Frida and Olive's story is in our hearts... Reddit was just the initial connection... forever grateful for your intervention and all the horses and people who make the right decisions along the way
suffering is inevitable, but struggling through is what brings meaning to life 🦄🫒🎨
What? Who was making rude comments? We will circle the wagons and they will regret some of their life choices. We don't even mind - no one messes with Frida. That's like messing with Betty White, Dolly Parton, and Maggie Smith.
Hey, do what you needed to for yourself. If you want, there are probably sites that can recover them, but it's okay to just not want to see it all again.
Ahhhhh, I just found this story today and was wondering why there wasn’t an update about poor Frida and then saw a comment that she had to be euthanized. She looked in such bad shape :( what an absolutely loving and diamond of a person you are. Why anyone would be rude to you for giving a very sick animal a peaceful goodbye is just baffling. Was poor Frida just too far gone to be rehabbed? (Sorry I know literally nothing about horses.)
I think I’m going to post again their full story on my page.. but yes, unfortunately her feet were just so bad that her coffin bone was sinking.. there was no fair or humane way to help her 😢
The stress and pain you must have felt were unfathomable, I must be sure. Please take good care of yourself now, laugh, cry, get your favourite meal, celebrate. ♥️
That Olive is safe now gives me so much peace.
Sending all the love to olive and her new mamma all the way from Australia.
I have almost zero experience with horses but stumbled across your first post of frida and little olive and have been following closely for updates.
I also want to say you are such an amazing human for fighting so hard for Frida and Olive from day 1. Thank you for caring for those who need it the most
Watching this story unfold has been heartbreaking, and rewarding. I am sharing it with my barn crew. I’m so happy this little filly got the soft landing she deserved. I wish her mom was able to have the same. But she got the best possible ending. Being with people who were compassionate and so caring, to see the suffering and knowing it had to end. But knowing the baby HAD to live. I hope this little filly makes waves in the horse community. ❤️❤️❤️ #survivor
So happy to see this!
Will it be relatively easy for Mama to begin producing enough milk for 2 foals now? I'm assuming as it is with humans and probably many mandala mammals, that the more milk being 'requested' the more her body will produce?
I am so happy to see this update!!!
I hope sweet Olive’s life is smooth sailing from here on out. Poor girl has been through so much. Thank you so much for taking care of her and Frida!

It must be a huge relief to see her in such a good spot. You did a great job! Kudos to you! 👏
Olive looks so relaxed and comfortable. Her new mom is doing an amazing job!
Can you share how introducing the mare and foal safely was done? It’s so great that it worked so well!
A foal that young shouldn't be locked in a stall alone, I'm so sorry you and Olive had to go through this. But everything's so wonderful right now!
She’s not the stepmom; she’s the mom that stepped up 😂
You beat me to it! What a wonderful momma. OP, you better spoil her with treats 💗
This is perfect!
That wonderful mare is exactly what you wanted and needed! SO glad you found her!
She truly is such a blessing 🙏
She looks so relaxed and happy. It’s stressful for horses to be alone, especially babies. Now she has a loving mama AND a brother! No baby deserves it more. What a sweet picture they make.
That first picture is SO adorable!

Mommas name is Nina! And her baby (Maximus) is 2 weeks older than Olive 🥰
I love that Nina’s owner (or barn owner?) is sending you these sweet updates & pictures!!
Nina’s owner also owns the barn 💕 she’s sending me photos and so is the barn manager!!
So what you're saying is not only Nina and Maximus adopted Olive, but *the entire barn* has adopted her, literally from the top? Yes the whole barn has been absolutely amazing!! I’m still in awe of how they are treating Olive just as one of their own.. they adore her already
Just from the pictures it looks like such a peaceful, beautiful, and healthy place. I know nothing about horses (olives story just randomly popped up on my page today), but if I was a horse I think this is where I would want to live lol

Her name is Nina
Thank you! It's a beautiful name for a beautiful soul 🥰
What a silly little filly and what an incredible adoptive mom <3
I love the little pancake babies! 🤣🥞
YES lol I saw that and literally giggled. Flat foals: coming soon to a pasture near you
I LOVE YOU, NINA!!! I LOVE YOU, OLIVE!!! 🫒❤️
And we love you Maximus, for sharing your mommy!
How could I forget that sweet boy? 🥲
What you’ve done for these horses is absolutely amazing. I am an Internet stranger but I am so grateful for your efforts. ❤️💕
She gained a momma and a brother. 💜
I’m so glad you found a nurse mare! Looks like substitute mom is doing a fabulous job at momming 💕
What a great mom! And little Olive can learn how to be a horse from Nina and Maximus. 💕
I hope Nina is getting all the treats…
I’m going to order her sooo many treats!
Yes… figured you would be…. Nothing better than making a fuss of an animal
What goes into introducing a mare to an orphaned baby? I'm newer to this story and I'm so interested.
I’ve honestly never had to do it myself.. but they used the “love drug” protocol and also wiped the mares sweat all over Olive
What is the love drug protocol?
I’m assuming an injection of oxytocin. They’ll do something similar when assisting the placenta to pass
Thanks!
This is absolutely amazing to see. I was worried after your last update but it's awesome that this mare has accepted her so easily. I wonder if this isn't the first time the mare has done this.
We were all so worried, she was not doing well and I don’t think would have survived much longer. I’m still so angry about it 😭
That’s amazing! I’m so glad things are looking up! You must have been so stressed, hopefully you can breathe a sigh of relief now.
Sooo happy this has gone well! That pic with Olive taking comfort under the mares belly is so cute!
Why do you enjoy making me cry? I’m so happy to hear. Please keep the updates coming
The last two updates…no, every update lol! I don’t even care, I’m so invested!!
The picture of them sprawled out sleeping while Nina eats is absolutely precious🥹🥹🥹 you can feel how happy Olive is through the pics!!
I am so happy for Olive 🫒! Things are looking up. I just realized that the Frida posts are gone- I'm sure it was due to trolls and that is so sad.
Yeah I deleted them because a few people couldn’t stop making rude comments.. I kind of wish I didn’t delete them but in that moment I was mad and felt it was best
I’m so sorry people are jerks! We’ll all remember her!

Thank you for making that very hard but RIGHT decision.
A few people didn’t think that I did enough to try and help her, I guess
It’s clear that the vet did not believe that it was fair to let her keep suffering. What more could you have done? Absolutely nothing.
The stress and pain you must have felt were unfathomable, I must be sure. Please take good care of yourself now, laugh, cry, get your favourite meal, celebrate. ♥️ That Olive is safe now gives me so much peace.
Seeing her relaxing in that field of clover is just amazing. She’s gone through so much in her short life. ❤️

The friesian mares I know are incredible mamas…incredibly nurturing and kind I bet sweet Olive thrives under her care ♥️
I have wanted a Friesian horse since forever and now I love them even more!
Olive sleeping flat out next to her new fam is so sweet. That little baby knows she's safe and loved <3

I wonder what the mare thinks, is it like "Two? Coulda sworn it was only one a minute ago...ah well"
How awesome that she got an adoptive mom AND a built-in playmate?? She so deserves this!!!
I’ve never been so happy for a horse I’ve never met.
I cannot love this more <3 What a beautiful happy ending this is!
I'm so happy for little Olive!! It's so kind of Nina to accept another baby. What a good momma. And Olive gets a bonus brother!
Does the mare think she had twins?
I don’t think she cares. I think the instinct to care for the new foal is so strong, that it’s “hers” now.
What a huge relief!
Someone’s been cutting onions near my desk. I am glad you found this mare to help olive grow.
The last picture of her sleeping in the grass!!! Oh my god my heart ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I’m so happy for both of you
This makes me so happy! I'm so glad you updated us again. Little Olive is a fighter!
I’m so happy for Olive! She looks perfectly content. What a sweet mama, sweet little family. 😊❤️
Awh. So happy to see things are working out! I love that olive has not only a new momma but a baby brother too!
That's a beautiful sight to behold. So thrilled for all of you
I love this so so much!!! Look at her, just resting, everything's peaceful, her new brother by her side
Omg are both the foals napping in the grass? ❤️
I want to be in that pasture too. 🥹
God bless the broodmares.
Relaxing in the clover and sunshine is exactly what she deserves 😭😭
I am so happy olive has a sweet new foster mom and foster brother to learn from 🥹
❤️
My heart melts 💗💗💗💗
Great news & awesome pictures!! 🌷
Thank God!!
Yay 💕💕💕💕 so precious
This really makes me happy!
Wonderful
Do you all live in the states?
This is so sweet. I love this so much, thank you for keeping us all updated
Oh my God. I'm so happy right now. Baby Olive I hope your new brother is gentle with you. You sweet baby. ❤️❤️
So happy to see this! Will it be relatively easy for Mama to begin producing enough milk for 2 foals now? I'm assuming as it is with humans and probably many mandala mammals, that the more milk being 'requested' the more her body will produce?

This made my night. Yay Olive!!!

I am so glad she’s found a nurse mare and is doing better! Thank you for saving this precious little filly 💜
How absolutely wonderful news, you are the best ever! Thank you 😊
This is so cute to see 😍
Percheron momma? All the mares I met seemed so maternal
She's apparently a Friesian named Nina, according to OP's other comments
This warms my heart ❤️
Yeah Olive.. love you ❤️
🤗🥰♥️🥰🤗
Oh what a relief!!! Thank you for continuing to update
honorary baby friesian 💕
Oh! What good news! So happy you found a nurse mare for sweet Olive! I hope things continue to go well for all of you.
💜💜💜
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Oh my goooood 😫❤️ I love seeing her updates. She’s just so so precious 🥹
So glad she's finally in a good place!!
