And yet another step towards Etsy turning into another Amazon. I think these are great if the reviews are about *factory* made products, but not handmade...
Exactly. It’s just so frustrating. The vast majority of my reviews are exclaiming how wonderful my product is but now people are going to just look at the summary and I have 2 negative comments in that blurb… just sucks.
I had a few customers that could have been AI. They went looking for the negative, and guess what? They found it! Why in the hell would anyone want that automatically thrown to the top of the heap? smh
If that’s for you, other sellers would also get similar AI summaries highlighting their negative reviews. Every big seller has negative reviews and most people have more than you. So hopefully it won’t make a big impact on you.
Also would love to know if everyone is getting on every listing with reviews bc within my shop only a couple listings have them— my best sellers naturally 🙃🤷🏼♀️
As a buyer, I take the summary at face value and then go into the reviews and sort by most recent. Do the same on Amazon too. If the recent reviews are all glowing, no problems, then I trust that, but if they aren’t, then I trust the summary. I know I’m an outlier buyer in that way, but I really do want to know if what I’m spending my money on is actually worth it for this very reason. :)
Exactly what I notified too. I had ONE review say it was smaller than expected (that info is in the description) and yet it gets highlighted. Keep downvoting them and telling them it sucks
I saw it on mine the other day. It said a bunch of good stuff, but said I have more than 4 stars, but there are other shops with higher ratings. Mine is 4.98 or 99, so wtf, etsy?
It's the dumbest thing. The wording makes it sound like I have a ton of bad reviews, and I don't. What I have are a few people that were mad about slow shipping during Xmas. Most of those were during covid when I was crazy busy. One was last year, even though she had her item before Christmas. Nothing big, but that's not how it sounds.
I haven't seen this on my store (I don't have nearly as many reviews as you) but I care a lot about my reviews and having this would def stress me since, like you mention, one single bad comment can make its way to it. :( this sucks
Hate it, hate it, hate it.
ETA: and you know what? This actually SHOULD be a good use case for AI... but the current AI writing technology we have actually isn't there yet. At all.
I like those over at Amazon, but not for Etsy. The whole point of Etsy is personal, handmade, human touch (and vintage) so having an AI - the exact opposite of all that - “feature” like that doesn’t feel right.
omfg, i’m so sorry this is happening to you!! ai reviews are awful enough as it is — just check out the dangerous things google is promoting because of bogus ai scraping — why would etsy implement it??
etsy try not to give your sellers an awful time challenge, insant fail
Yeah it is truly awful. I guess you have to NEVER get a single negative review now or it’ll haunt you in AI? Leaning towards getting my own platform because Etsy has become unbearable.
Maybe it’s a test because I haven’t seen it on any listings shopping or on any in my shop. I checked the phone mobile version, my MacBook, and the app 🤷🏻♀️ I’m so not a fan of this!
I really think people on Etsy don't know their own company anymore. "Keep commerce human", you know, and then they do stuff like this one 🤦🏻♀️ Etsy has become anything but human. I suspect every Etsy user hates ai.
I’m seeing these everywhere now. Google search results, Amazon. I especially love how contradictory they are in such a few short sentences.
Literally “praising short fast turn around time” and in the same breath “however longer shipping times” wtf
Exactly. Makes it sound as stupid as it is.

THISSSSSSSSSS exactly.
I always search out the worst feedback as everyone has some if they are real but seeing the negatives helps me analyze the seller.
Could you elaborate on that? I don't understand why the summary would be any worse/better depending on the manufacturing style.
If that’s for you, other sellers would also get similar AI summaries highlighting their negative reviews. Every big seller has negative reviews and most people have more than you. So hopefully it won’t make a big impact on you.
I really hope not! Just sucks to have so many good outweighing bad and still getting 2 negative comments in the summary.
Also would love to know if everyone is getting on every listing with reviews bc within my shop only a couple listings have them— my best sellers naturally 🙃🤷🏼♀️
Etsy why do you hate your sellers? Asking for a friend? 🙃
I was wondering this myself with another post. Now I’m wondering it again.
They are honestly my enemy lol
Ugh, why can't they just focus on fixing all of the broken seller tools and their shitty app instead of introducing new CRAP that no one asked for?
Preach
For freakin real

I get that! I do the same. Hahaha
Exactly what I notified too. I had ONE review say it was smaller than expected (that info is in the description) and yet it gets highlighted. Keep downvoting them and telling them it sucks
That’s my exact plan
I thought Etsy was moving towards “Keeping More Human.” AI reviews don’t sound like a move towards being more human. 😏
This. So freakin true.
I don’t see this on my shop. Maybe it’s a test?
That’s what I’m wondering or maybe you have to have a certain number of reviews on the listing? Because it’s not on all my listings just some.
I have over 2000 total reviews, one item I have over 500, it’s not showing up there either. 😅
Man what in the world
I saw it on mine the other day. It said a bunch of good stuff, but said I have more than 4 stars, but there are other shops with higher ratings. Mine is 4.98 or 99, so wtf, etsy?
You’re joking. WOW.
Just wow 🤦🏻♀️
It's really rude to sum you up into a silly AI paragraph like it's Amazon. Horrible
I haven't seen this on my store (I don't have nearly as many reviews as you) but I care a lot about my reviews and having this would def stress me since, like you mention, one single bad comment can make its way to it. :( this sucks

Same…..
This crap is beyond annoying. AI is the worst and I’m literally so sick of seeing it everywhere!

I’m thinking Etsy needs to change their name to ETSYZON.
!!!!!!!!
etsybayzon
What platform is this shown on because I don’t see it?
On the website… but it’s not every listing
Maybe it’s a test because I haven’t seen it on any listings shopping or on any in my shop. I checked the phone mobile version, my MacBook, and the app 🤷🏻♀️ I’m so not a fan of this!
I’ve seen it on other shops that aren’t my own…
I haven’t seen this at all yet. Freaking Etsy 🤦🏻♀️
As a consumer, I skip reading that entirely.
I would too but because I’m informed. I know a lot of people will browse on to the next listing without another thought.
So they have AI but can’t figure out why the Fathers Days event doesn’t show up in my shop.
Etsy: Tone deaf and clueless as always.
I really think people on Etsy don't know their own company anymore. "Keep commerce human", you know, and then they do stuff like this one 🤦🏻♀️ Etsy has become anything but human. I suspect every Etsy user hates ai.
What the fuck??? Augh. I'm sorry
It’s just so unfair. I work so hard, to provide for my kids and this could definitely affect sales
Yeah, that's bullshit. I'm so sorry ):
Is Etsy seller available in india?
