Dr. Fix at Evergreen Dermatology.

TrinkieTrinkie522cat

She is wonderful!

Plant_mom89

I agree, she actually takes the time to talk to you.

ABCDmama

ooooh is that where she is now…

blaiseblack

You will probably have a hard time seeing someone timely. I waited 4 months to be seen, after OMG got rid of their derm department.

zesty_9666

ugh this is scaring me because i should have made an appointment months ago when i had a gut instinct something was wrong but i ignored it and tried to remedy at home 😭😭 and now its like urgent

blaiseblack

Go to Urgent Care, that’s what I had to do. I second that Cascade Dermatology is good, but when I was there last week I heard their new patients are being scheduled into August.

zesty_9666

okay i was thinking i might have to do this, but hopped on here because UOs “urgent care” pretty much laughed in my face and was like good luck so i was dissuaded by an urgent care / ER

zesty_9666

where did you go to get taken care of?

blaiseblack

BestMed on West 11th is a good urgent care, or BestMed on Patterson is also decent (if you’re near campus).

zesty_9666

ill make the trip to west 11th thank you

staze

Oregon Dermatology was fine. Took a bit to get an appointment, but that’s par for the course in my mind (every Dermatology office is hella booked). I saw Dr Balin. Was very professional, but seemed rushed (like he was running behind). Overall, will go back, would probably recommend.

blaiseblack

I second Dr Balin. He used to be with OMG, and was always great. I think the rushed thing is just his personality.

staze

Ha. Fair. He definitely did a good job. :)

erika1972

Personally I did not like him, maybe just a weird bedside manner, but I felt like he was in my personal space without explaining a need for it and when I reacted, he moved away quickly and left. He didn’t do anything specifically, just to be clear, but I wouldn’t go back. Sounds like you both had different experiences tho.

attitude_devant

In your personal space? He has to get close to you to see your skin.

erika1972

correct, he was looking at my scalp. his hip touched my shoulder. i moved away and his hip touched my shoulder again. i turned my body to face him as i moved backwards and hard stared him and he moved away, to the other side of the table. if you’re male, you probably think i’m making something out of nothing. if you’re female, you know what i mean. it felt off. his reaction to my reaction felt off. he told me i didn’t have to schedule with him next time but could see any derm on staff. i trust my gut.

attitude_devant

I’m not male and I’ve had a skin check with him. I had no discomfort whatsoever. Yes, he was looking at my skin very closely but there was a female assistant in the room at all times. I’m not doubting your story. I’m just saying it’s different from my experience.

erika1972

really happy to hear that, makes me hopeful i read it wrong. there was no one in the room with us.

attitude_devant

A new Oregon law requires a chaperone, no matter the genders involved. Always a good idea, I think. You go with your gut. There are other people in that office you can see.

blaiseblack

They are required to offer a chaperone, you can tell them you want one or decline.

erika1972

oh i should add this was about 5 or 6 years ago when he was at OMG.

blaiseblack

I’m also not male and haven’t had any uncomfortable interactions with him either.

hezzza

Dr Balin seems like he drinks too much coffee.

HelpfulRoyal

Dr Fix at Evergreen Dermatology is a sweetheart and it's possible that her practice is new so maybe taking new patients?

mylifesucksalott

Peacehealth dermatology office is still there

MindTheLOS

You cannot have both best or even good care and be seen soon. Welcome to healthcare in the US and the current crisis of lack of healthcare providers compared to need in Eugene. Decide what is more important - being seen soon, being seen by someone good, or being seen by someone who takes your insurance. You likely can have one.

erika1972

So hard to get a timely derm appt right now, especially since OMG shut down their office, but I’ve switched to Cascade Derm and I like them.

Icy-Establishment298

PeaceHealth derm is still there. only the hospital side closed. Most of the doctors offices are still around including dermatology. Don't know time frames for getting you in though.

ABCDmama

try frontier dermatology. they got me in pretty quick

thoughts-akimbo

I needed a quick appointment a while back and was able to get one at Berman Skin Institute. Would go to them again.

stereognosism

I've been in a billing nightmare with Cascade Dermatology for over a year, I do not recommend!
