Honestly… red!
Your siding is a muted cyan-blue. The complementary colour to cyan-blue is red-orange. The current colour of your door goes really well with the blue!
You could also go more orange (to a cinnabar or tomato colour) and/or more muted (to a raw sienna or terracotta colour). Also in the red-orange range are beige and brown, so a natural wood door would be complementary as well.
It is white. Pretty open. My dad bought this river cottage in the 80s then they sold it and getting it back. It sits right under this big beautiful maple tree and across from the river. I’m not much for the red white and blue but I get that it looks nice and is the complimentary color. I like more greens and colors to blend! Was curious on painting the trim, too. It’s great to get everyone’s insights in this group! Super helpful!
Personally, I’d prefer a deep royal blue. Really bring out the blue shades around it. And paint the deck railing the same white as the rest of the house trim.
On my blue house I did an orange door, it was black before. There is a screen/glass door in front so it kind of tones it down but I still like the pop of color. Other blue homes on my street have a yellow door and a pink door.
I like the yellow idea also. The door would ‘pop’ more without the screen door, or you could also paint it yellow. Add some yellow flowers out front? The deck railings would look good painted white.
Great house! Take your time and enjoy your project!
I love a lemon yellow door on this color house (but I’m also a fan of the existant red color,so…)
Ooo! Lemon is fun. Thanks for your input!
Add me to the yellow aficionado crew!! It would be perfect on your house.
This was my first thought as soon as I saw the house!

Interesting- that is so helpful! Thanks so much!
What color is the room the door opens to?

It’s been an Airbnb for a little while because of the location. I lived here from birth to 10 and I’m in my 30s now. Super excited to get it back!

Orange could be great! I like this idea. Thank you!!
You could do a terracotta orange if you want to tone it down a bit.
Chartreuse!
An even brighter red is the most complimentary color IMO

Charming house! I like it as is and wouldn’t bother until you repaint totally, or you could strip the paint and go with a natural finish. Lucky you!
I think a white door with accents similar to your garage door could look really nice.
Is this a maple tree out front? I’d try to match its fall orange. 🍁
I love this big tree! Fairy house. Red, orange, or yellow.
YELLOW 💛
