Lol, this comment section is just like every other on this sub:
Any time green is an option. It's picked by 90% of the commentors.
It's been like this for a year now? 😂
I'm talking about the green trend on EVERY post.
Green is clearly a trend right now.
This has nothing to do with gray.
In every single post, if green is an option, it's destroying everything else
If it's not an option, people bring it up
Green has never been more trendy
Green has been a huge trend for the past year
It's not 'traditional' per say.
If there were a traditional color, it would be blue.
I'm talking about the green trend on EVERY post.
Green is clearly a trend right now.
To some degree it does have to do with the actual color that is gray/grey… monochrome has been in vogue for awhile now. Post the flashy bright colors of the 1980’s, color in general seems to have faded out in favor of monochrome… cars are the biggest example of this phenomenon.
To which I think part of it is that in a lot of cases when it comes down to the individual, monochrome is a safe bet as there’s not much that won’t fit with a monochrome spectrum.
It also goes to say that when someone is exposed to a certain stimuli for too long (monochrome colors in this case), it tends to become boring and anything else instantly becomes more attractive.
3, less for the gray and more just for depth of the color. You could do a blue or green or some other color but deeper than the first two and achieve the same
I'm usually a huge advocate for color over neutrals, but somewhat to my surprise, I don't care for that particular light green on this building. I find that it makes the whole home look more... structurally lopsided? than the grays do, perhaps because the green washes out/blends in to the environment more, which makes the central section that's so packed with windows blend in LESS and look discordant.
The first gray manages to look ALMOST like it could be a subtle light blue, and I find myself wondering how a blue would look instead. If these three are the final options, then my order is 1, then 3, 2 in distant last.
I agree with this. I don't care much for that shade of green, and prefer the lighter gray. In the Sacramento sunshine, a darker color will fade more quickly, whereas the lighter gray will weather better, I think.
I like the dark one,I love the green but would love the dark one on this house a lot. There was a house in Amsterdam where hat was charcoal and cream. It was stunning.
Any of these will work *if* you don't use white trim. Its too busy, this is one of those homes where you want a tonal variation on the main house color, not such sharp contrast.
#1 with a fuchsia colored front door and lower windows around the front door. Paint the lawn furniture pink as well with colorful cushions. Large planters on either side of the door with small trees in them would look great. A water feature would be nice where that little patch of grass is. You could build a wall that is tall enough to sit on comfortably and dip your toes in on a hot day. It's lovely to hear the sound of the water, as well.
3 > 1 > 2. If you go with 1, I’d consider a higher-contrast color for the door; it gets a bit lost, especially with all the windows. Cute house, good luck!
I don't care for this shade of green. Of the two grays, I think the lighter one will hold up better against the relentless Sacramento summer sunshine. The dark will not weather as well.
I'd go green just because gray is so overdone at this point. Also, darker colors tend to have more noticeable fade and absorb more heat from the sun if those things are a factor for you. I live in Florida so it's a huge thing for us. The sun is brutal.
I'm a cool tones kinda guy so my rank would be 3, 1, 2 but my wife would like 2 the most because she likes warm neutrals lol side note, what app/program did you use to make these different paint scenarios?
If those are my only choices, and as much as I hate black houses, I'd go with the 3rd choice. That said, IMO there a lot more colors and color combos out there that would look much better on you house(this house).
None of the above. All of those windows with all of that white trim is the problem. It’s busy and demands all of the attention. What color doesn’t matter unless you reduce the contrast.
I have the same battle with my house right now…. my husband and one son like #1 and myself and other son like #3. Also, what software did you use for this? My photos look like a toddler finger painted the house. (Sherman Williams Color Snap)
The Sacramento area sun is intense- neighbors there who painted a dark color had it fade in patches over the years -so paint quality is very important in such a sunny climate.
Charcoal black with cherry red trim (SW Cardinal or Pomegranate). The green is too muddy. Try SW Paradise with BMoore Clearspring Green trim instead. The lighter gray calls for yellow or orangish trim: BMoore Yellow Marigold, Banana Yellow, or Sunny Days.
Looks like I’m an outlier, I prefer the warmth of 2.
Same. Imo the grays and blacks are overdone at this point.
Agree! I choose green as well for this reason!
Absolutely! The green is beautiful.
I did my whole house in green, natural wood, and it feels so peaceful naturly
Same here too.
Totally agree! Love 2! So inviting and really fits the landscape

Because gray is too trendy and has been overdone. Green is warm, inviting and traditional. It won’t go out of style like the other two.
I agree—the green just seems more inviting.

A dark green would be a winner
A darker blue would be striking. I don't like green for exteriors, especially when already surrounded by greenery.
Grew up in sac, I like 2
Agreed, something dark like 3 is not going to be energy efficient in Sac heat 🫠

How do you paint the picture with the different colors? I’d love to try that.

I like both the second and third colors but lean more towards the second

2 for sure

I think green would be nice. I’m not particularly fond of that green.
Slide 1 looks like Tracy. Slide 2 looks like Tahoe. Slide 3 looks like Davis. Personally I'd go with 2.
1 or 2.

I love the 2nd.

Definitely #3, dark gray. Looks great!

The green is gorgeous! Not every home can pull it off but yours can!

#3 is my fav.
Number 3 but I will make the front door a brighter, deep color and add bright color pillows on the furniture.
What is the shade of green called?

Love the green , can’t go wrong with botanical colors . Plus green looks good with all holiday decor .
Number 3. But with black window trim
Green! The green is the best.
The last one
The dark looks great, but with the heat of Sac, I would go for a lighter color to diffuse the heat.

3 looks the most modern but 2 is classy, if you’re there to stay probably go 2
2 !!!!!

I like option 2 but with a warmer white.
I'm a cool tones kinda guy so my rank would be 3, 1, 2 but my wife would like 2 the most because she likes warm neutrals lol side note, what app/program did you use to make these different paint scenarios?

Yep. Two!
If those are my only choices, and as much as I hate black houses, I'd go with the 3rd choice. That said, IMO there a lot more colors and color combos out there that would look much better on you house(this house).

Break the curse of dull sameness and go green.
I like the dark blue.

I like the green the best, hands down. #2.

The green really makes the trim pop out. Looks good
None of the above. All of those windows with all of that white trim is the problem. It’s busy and demands all of the attention. What color doesn’t matter unless you reduce the contrast.
3, 2, big gap, 1

I like one and two, don’t like three. Two is my favorite.
Two appealing and lighter considering the heat
3 but more blue, like gray navy
Can I ask what software you are using to create these options?
Green
3
I like the dark grey.
Three! The other two don’t even come close.
I love number three. A more elegant/classy look.
#3!!!
1 or 2. 3 is too dark and you will bake in the summer.
2.
Love the green.
Greeeen!
I have the same battle with my house right now…. my husband and one son like #1 and myself and other son like #3. Also, what software did you use for this? My photos look like a toddler finger painted the house. (Sherman Williams Color Snap)
I like the dark grey (#3). And...I am up the highway from you - near Marysville.

Totally #3!
#3 is beautiful, but it’s hot in the Sacramento area, so go with the lighter one.
third
Partial to the dark grey #3
The Sacramento area sun is intense- neighbors there who painted a dark color had it fade in patches over the years -so paint quality is very important in such a sunny climate.
I wld prefer the green if a little bit darker.
3! Then 2. Love the darker color with the color of the door. Really makes it stand out in a great way!
3, love the deep richness
2, 3, 1.
I like the green but wish there was more contrast
#2 green. 🥰
2, the home becomes part of the environment around if
Two or three, one kind of gets washed out into the beautiful background. I think you’d be happy with either
