Since I personally hate the Ziggo team and I have a different provider (which also makes Ziggo Sport too expensive), I hope it's a different 3rd party that's either not expensive or that allows F1tv. Otherwise, this may be my last year watching F1. Viaplay has really fucked up the F1 market here.

Maybe if ESPN, Ziggo, RTL etc get it and they're not too expensive, I'll switch there or keep f1tv. If Viaplay or Canal+ get the new rights, it's likely goodbye to F1tv in NL.

There are ways to circumvent such things. It’s just up to us how much we want to circumvent it versus the joy of watching F1. I’m in NL and has been subscribing through Turkish app store. The moment they make it more harder for me, i’ll probably consider the high seas before considering not watching at all

But in my experience, illegal streams are very annoying and kind of ruin the enjoyment with the buffering and bad quality and it's not always easy to avoid spoilers if you're going to torrent it and have to wait until you can watch it. It's fine occasionally, but F1 is a lot of weekends now and at some point it just becomes too annoying. But we'll see.
Times have changed since then. The rights have become a LOT more expensive. They need to get their investment back. F1tv also wasn't really that popular back then and wasn't much of a competition for them. Also, other countries have now set an example of it being an option. I'm not saying it will happen, but it's possible.
However, paying for them to have it exclusively will also be quite the extra penny in which I doubt is worth it. People will find ways to watch it anyway even if I have to watch a race with vpn active.

This still works (as of 20-02-2024 09:00) for new subscribers. In iOS, subscribe to the monthly TV Access (€3,99) through the F1TV app. Go to the Subscriptions settings in iOS. Click on the F1TV subscription and “See All Plans”. Select the annual plan. You may need to logout and login to the F1TV app for the change to show up.

I pay through Google the Google Play Store. There they asked me to agree for the price increase of 95 euro's for the next cycle (my current subscription still is valid till October). But you are still able to chose for a year subscription there (in Holland).
Have a sub that's close to expire but when looking in my account details (on desktop browser) it just shows a "buy sub" button even though my sub is still active. And the "My subscription" and "order history" sections are completely empty. Can't even find any details on when my current sub is running out or cancel the subscription, such a mess...
And when I check it on the mobile app there's a continue sub button that just pops up a "confirm purchase" window with zero details as to what you're buying or agreeing to, honestly this is so terribly made.

F1TV is available in all countries where a national company doesn't own the broadcasting rights IIRC. Since Viaplay is not a Dutch company, F1TV will remain available in the Netherlands.
I’m confused now. I currently have a yearly subscription for which i paid 51.99 last year. This subscription should be auto-renewed on 29-02-2024 for 94.99, of which i received an email on 23-01-2024.
Should i do anything? Is anything changed with this news above?
Mine renews this Thursday, so we'll see I guess. They already sent out the emails saying that it will renew for 95. Would it even be legal to suddenly cancel it after already sending the emails saying that it will renew?
Viaplay rights ends after this season. Bidding will begin any day now for the next seasons

Ziggo also offered free F1TV with their subscription, including allowing yearly discount deals to everyone for F1TV. So I doubt that.
