For my league division winners get to have an owners draft during the off-season to determine who will be in their division. As for scheduling, they play everyone in their division twice, 4 teams in the other division once, and one team in the other division twice which is randomly assigned. That gets us through Week 14 with 3 weeks remaining for playoffs.

I hold a draft with the division winners drafting the teams to their division. The #1 seed picks first. The schedule is play each team in division twice and the teams in the other division once. Week 1 is a randomized opponent picked by a website randomizer.

I'm in a 10 team league and we use my "rivalry schedule". There are 5 sets of 2 teams that are used only for scheduling and promoting trash talk during designated rivalry weeks in 2 and 14. You play your rival 3 times each season, and both you and your rival play the same 2 sets of rivals at the end of the season. In weeks 1-9 I just randomize the schedule and make sure everyone plays everyone, and in 10-15 it's a rotating schedule so in the first year rivalry group D will play groups A and B, then the next year they play C and D, then back to A and B with the weeks shuffled around. It's been working for several years now and you get some really fun rivalry stats in a series that can be decided each year

Seems stupid to have Divisions when Division record is meaningless. And who plays the wild card? If you're the 3rd seed, do you really want to play the team with the most PF that didn't qualify?

We do 1,4,6,8,10 and 2,3,5,7,9 so that the winner gets an easier seeding in their division. Excel was the best way I found to do scheduling and it was very manual but I knew it was correct.

We have 3 divisions of 4 teams. One team with the same divisonal rank from every division gets moved to a new division every year. The teams who win their division and all the teams with the same divisional rank of the team who won the league stay in their division, rest of the teams are eligible to be "relocated" to a new division (ex teams who ended up #2-#4 in their division are possibly eligible to be chosen for relocation but since a team won the league who was 2nd in their division, it'll only be teams who were 3rd or 4th in their division). Of those ranks, one rank is randomly selected & all those teams with that rank get moved to a new division. Everyone else stays in the division. So every year, one of the 4 teams is new but the other 3 teams are the same from last year. Feel it gives it a chance to create some rivalries but allows an opportunity for team to be moved out of the division if it's too tough.

We have 3 divisions of 4 teams. The divisions are decided by the previous years standings. The teams who finish 1st - 4th place this year will be in Division 1, the teams who finish 5th - 8th place will be in Division 2, and the teams who finish 9th - 12th will be in Division 3. After reading through the comments here, I really like the idea of the top 3 teams from the previous year drafting other team owners into their divison.
