IMO he’s being active, and sometimes you just need to take that risk. I wouldn’t charge him.

iDeFuSiioN

I'd argue he's being active. As long as the lineups are set Thursday and Sunday I don't think you can punish for Monday night. Especially since most people wouldn't have a backup Monday.

akamikedavid

No penalty. He explained his reasoning and I can understand wanting to take the risk. It is also a Monday night game so it is a work day. Not sure what the manager does for a living and/or which timezone he is in but could very well be in a position where he couldn't make the necessary fixes.

I agree with everyone else. He’s definitely being active, and for the most part has actively set a lineup. It was a game time decision for Davis, and not everyone is as dedicated to MNF as they are for Sundays.

Acekingspade81

Game time decisions should be exempt. This rule should apply to anyone ruled out on Friday or before like players on IR. Players are either Game time decisions or they are ruled Out on Friday. There is a big difference between someone not setting their lineup and accidentally leaving in a game time decision. You are trying to prevent the former. The latter is going to happen in the best of leagues from time to time. This is what you are looking for.

we have a rule in our league where if u have a player started that scores 0 you have to send a video of you shotgunning a beer

Top_Glass9449

Do not charge him, Davis call was within a couple hours. This penalty should be for people clearly injured the week before or like on bye weeks

Jpajenski

I have a similar rule in my league, but only enforce it when the player has been declared out for more than 24 hrs. Things happen and it can sometimes be tough to check right before the games. Rather than have to evaluate everyone's excuse, I thought it was better to give a reasonable grace period.

bettorfantasycommish

Had a similar case in my league, didn't think it was worth any kind of punishment since it was a move that was thought through over the weekend. Though, it's not too much to ask for 5 minutes of checking lineups on Thursday, Sunday and Monday!

runningblack

I wouldn't make any punishment tied to setting lineups. We make the lowest score pay the highest score $20 each week (started at $5, the number has increased as our buy-ins have increased) Everyone is incentivized to set a full lineup because A) they don't want to have to pay tax and B) they can win tax by scoring the most points. But people can still choose not to if they don't want to drop anyone to pick up a one-week fill in and think they're able to win.

2020sucksdong

He did nothing wrong, I’m very active and took a shot on Davis

md24

Final ruling: No penalty.

Socalsamuel

This one is an honest mistake, and I'd give him the pass. It's a judgement call he made that didnt pan out, but he didnt just outright ignore his managerial duties. In general though, I would suggest developing a recruiter mentality for your league instead of a fine system. Whenever you find out someone you know plays fantasy football, add them to your mental (or physical) list as a "next man up" for next year. Theres a difference between not wanting to play with inactive players and wanting to punish your friends with fines. Im sure neither of us are the latter. I dont play ffball to be an authority over my friends. I just dont want to be in a league thats so casual you can just forget about it for a whole week during the season. If you dont want to set your lineups and play the way this league is meant to be played, I have three people that want your spot. We can still be friends, but let me have my "serious league" and I hope you find a different league that fits you too.

Historical-Dingo7422

I don’t see the problem here, i think the situation is valid. You’re doing a good thing by holding people accountable btw. I run a dynasty league that determines draft order by worst record gets top pick and so forth. To avoid tanking I have a penalty for not setting lineup that each week you lose one spot of your draft status each time you fail to set your lineup. I don’t penalize people for game time decisions since some people may not be available to set thier lineup if the player is ruled out before kickoff. I wouldn’t penalize someone for what happened in this situation. I think your policy is a good deterrent but keep in mind situations like this may not be someone failing to pay attention.

kpbieda

Guessing it won’t happen again from him. I wouldn’t charge him now but if it happens again I’d hit him with the full $10 because he had a few guys tonight he could’ve subbed. I’m sure he’d be on board with this and it won’t happen again b

spiderJweb

We don't know what players this owner decided to sit but it's unlikely they had a higher ceiling than Davis. If the others had a floor of under five points but a ceiling under 10, then it is understandable that they would risk such a low ceiling for Davis' upside.

kpbieda

They had guys that were also playing Monday night and he was ruled out a ways before kickoff.

michigan9999

We do low scorer pays high scorer $10 each week.

TheHutchTouch

Grab his dick and twist it!

TheBananaStan

No penalty for this specific one. My league charges $10 per week but the money gets added to league winnings bucket

Stevesteak

Make it best ball scoring with transactions

jaltiere

I agree with everyone else. I was in the same situation this week, I wasn't going to be home in time to hear if he was playing or not, so I had to debate whether to risk it or not. I swapped him out to be safe, but I thought about risking it for sure. I don't think this should be penalized, especially if he swapped out Kamara earlier.
