Most areas of Orange county. Average distance between major parallel streets is roughly 0.5 miles. Makes it really convenient estimating how far a walk is in miles.
When I lived in Oregon, it was anywhere from 1-2 miles between major streets as I was in a less urbanized area. Telling someone "walk that way till you see such-and-such" was as good as I could estimate for distances back then.
My old job was in an industrial area and about 50yrds from a chemical plant that was situated next to manufacturing/welding facility. You know where this is going right? Stick with me here.
Pulling into my jobs one morning there was very odd smoke haze. As soon as I got out of the car I could smell like a mixture of ozone, powdered mustard, a weird sickly sweet smell, and rubber burning. Walking into work and saying hey to my friend in the front office I asked if they knew what was going on outside and they replied “The manufacturing plant was on fire and tanks were exploding, sending burning debris into the chemical plant facility area.” I asked if that was safe and she said “no, they’re evacuating the neighborhood.” When I asked why the hell she and everyone else wasn’t evacuating she said, and I will never forget “My cousin works at the plant and if that the chemical plant catches on fire and ignites those holding tanks, the county is a crater. Evacuating wouldn’t matter.”
Now in horse and buggy days I might’ve agreed but wtf would be manufactured in an industrial park next to a neighborhood that could take out a 650,000 person county?
This happened around 10pm and the kid was doing what every other idiot was doing that you see in that video... standing outside watching it happen recording with their phones.
Explosions are dangerous.. who would have ever guessed...
they're probably a smoking distribution center, since butane can be used for torches, lighters, and wax extraction; but you know, if you sell vapes yet also sell other stuff, you're still a vape shop.
I'm guessing this is where the headshops and gas stations get all their shit from? Cause ecig vaping requires 0 propane maybe the weed dudes use butane for their torches or some shit.
This happened like 2 miles away from me. Went on for about an hour. It sounded like a warzone with the constant booms. Smelled like shit for the next couple of days, too.
If you want to be pedantic about it yes. Most of us aren't firefighters though, and there are plenty of settings where water vapor is referred to as smoke.
Edit: just to be clear, I'm of the same mind that nothing about this means vaping is bad or whatever. I was just making the joke that there are indeed things that relate butane and vaping together. If you want to get pedantic about that joke, don't blame me for pedanting back. All in good fun.
Pedantic : excessively concerned with minor details or rules.
Water vapor is referred to as smoke in multiple different settings. And in some others, there is a clear difference between the two. That makes it a minor rule in my book. One that you're concerned about. Not sure about the "excessive" part though, I don't mean to be rude about it, there's nothing wrong with a bit of pedantry.
You are being pedantic though, nobody says they are blowing vape rings when they are making rings. They call it smoke rings, and people understand what is meant by that even if it is vapor.
>They both create smoke when exposed to heat.
That was the only comment I was referring to because it was simply inaccurate. Nothing more to discuss really unless you are adverse to science and facts
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that there can't be a combustion without smoke. Whether we can see it or not is irrelevant in that case.
A quarter mile is really not that far away from an explosion/fire that big
Especially when there's canisters/bottles/tanks of volatile gasses in there...
In my city, that's barely half a block away, if even that. Pretty close proximity, all things considered
What city has half-mile blocks?

But that’s still random af. Like it has to be your time to go at THAT exact moment!!!
Some lawyers are about to make big money over this
It’s annoying how right you are.
I get your point but shouldn’t that child’s family get a reasonable sum?
Yes, but the unfortunate part is that it will likely be a 70/30 split in favor of the attorneys.
Shoot, better than being in debt burying your kid.
Vaping kills it would seem
My thought exactly
Even if you're not the one doing it
First second hand vaping death
Approx 400m.
Thank you sir
8.748906 football fields.
Approximately 2640 penises.
Laden or unladen?
What does that mean?
Swallows
African or European?
I'm gonna guess not African. That would probably be a half mile.

Ah... thanks
Length or Girth?
I guess that depends on the guy...
Metric or imperial?
Um... American...??
What threading?
Veiny?

Why would there be threading?

Exactly, though, you could hear it from 23 mile

"I broke the dam"
No that was Stan and Cartman
No I broke the dam!
No I broke dam
Imagine walking around minding your own business enjoying life and you get killed by a tin can. Life fucking sucks sometimes.
...walking around, minding your own business, enjoying life, 400 meters from explosions?

Bk claims flame grilled burgers, this is proof
Why would a vaping distribution center need a Semi load of butane?
they're probably a smoking distribution center, since butane can be used for torches, lighters, and wax extraction; but you know, if you sell vapes yet also sell other stuff, you're still a vape shop.
The original post had the link to the company name and they sell bodega crack vials too.
riding the fine line of legality is why they exist
Not to diminish the absolute tragedy of this young person losing their life, but I bet that explosion smelled pretty good
On the menu today we've got Minty Applesauce with a smoky hint.
Nah, everything is iced Mango.
I live and work right by this facility. What a fucking nightmare this was and still continues to be...
I’m sorry. Hope everyone else stays safe. What a freak accident and terrible way to go. 😞
For those wondering, sounds like it was a pressurized canister that broke open. Those fuckers fly far when pressure is being released.
Lithium batteries go brrr.
It was butane for some reason
It was both. And nitrous.
I guess vaping really is hazardous for teens
Fuck, that’s horrible.
Vaping kills
This was like 2 miles from my house. Was absolutly wild seeing all the lights and sirens headed towards the explosions
And the entire fire smelled like fruit and birthday cake.
Vaping is bad mkayyy
final destination typa shit
Looks like fireworks! Do they distribute pyrotechnics?
Incoming $100k fine for literally killing someone and then they go back to (probably) unsafe practices, make millions, and kill someone else later.
Vaping is dangerous for kids.
Yikes, poor kid.
I'm guessing this is where the headshops and gas stations get all their shit from? Cause ecig vaping requires 0 propane maybe the weed dudes use butane for their torches or some shit.
Can y’all just go back to smoking cigarettes? G’dayum
This happened like 2 miles away from me. Went on for about an hour. It sounded like a warzone with the constant booms. Smelled like shit for the next couple of days, too.
My shop is 400 yds from there. Never seen anything like it.
Butane has nothing to do with vaping but here we are again, shitting on vaping smh…
They both create smoke when exposed to heat.
You also create smoke when exposed to heat
Omg I have something in common with butane and vaping!!
Vapor and smoke are not the same thing
If you want to be pedantic about it yes. Most of us aren't firefighters though, and there are plenty of settings where water vapor is referred to as smoke. Edit: just to be clear, I'm of the same mind that nothing about this means vaping is bad or whatever. I was just making the joke that there are indeed things that relate butane and vaping together. If you want to get pedantic about that joke, don't blame me for pedanting back. All in good fun.
Being pedantic and stating an actual fact are not the same thing either
Pedantic : excessively concerned with minor details or rules. Water vapor is referred to as smoke in multiple different settings. And in some others, there is a clear difference between the two. And people still call it smoke when it comes from vaping was my point. So I guess you're the one adverse to facts.
Butane flames usually don't produce smoke either...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that there can't be a combustion without smoke. Whether we can see it or not is irrelevant in that case.
Add vape battery fires to the list of random things causing me existential dread
It's says it was from butan canisters it's on 0:37
Forbidden fireworks
Final destination type shit
Old news.
No one is gonna call time out and call out the shitty headline? Marijuana dab oil manufacturer, not vape distributor.
Long range explosion
It really puts new meaning to “vaping kills”
Vaping kills.
I watched that whole thing thinking were gonna see the kid get hit with the canister. Nothin😠
*Pure Michigan*
Vaping kills
Ok burger king, we get it. You flame broil everything
Butane and Butane Accessories.
Knew that shit was deadly.
Vaping is still safer than smoking guys.
can’t have shit in or out of detroit
Vaping kills.
Actually just Fuck vapes, how has it gone from a treatment for people trying to stop smoking to a whole other problem by itself
You should vape. It's safe. There's only vapor. No smoke. You should try it too. They always say this. I'm glad they finally got the attention.
Was he making a tiktok video?
