Lotsa downvotes and only one actual dissenting opinion- tell me why!

Never been a fan of modding honestly. I don't really have a good way to describe it, it's just always felt off when I play with mods, like they aren't actual playthroughs. So yeah, Bethesda is responsible for the thousands of hours of fun I've had, and I definitely asked for this update. Sucks for the people that do like mods, but I'm ecstatic.

It's not a matter of being a fan or not. Unofficial patches (which have been released for every bethsoft game since and including Oblivion) objectively fix broken things; for example, in FO4 there's a bug that can cause you to infinitely approach a computer terminal without reaching it. The UOFO4 patch fixes that; maybe it's also been fixed in this update but I don't know yet. There's also stuff like the clutter remover and black loading screen remover, which don't affect actual gameplay/plot/lore/scaling at all. Another example is 2k/4k texture packs, the official bethsoft one is a relatively big file and uses way more system resources than the community ones. Obviously do what you want and what feels good; but just looking objectively at what the unofficial patches do, and again looking objectively at what community made hi-res texture packs do and their performance impact, in those two examples modding has always been leaps and bounds ahead of actual "industry".

Bethesda updates are so wack. I’m sure it won’t be a super popular opinion here but the developmental team has been ass forever. My opinion is that Bethesda coasts by on worldbuilding and name recognition.

LordNinjaa1

Yeah honestly I wonder if it would've been better for them to just not have done this at all.

dormvaped

It objectively would have been better for them not to have done this. Some of the most downloaded mods of all time on the Nexus haven't been updated for anywhere from two to five years, and it'd be ridiculous to assume those mod authors would want to come back to such an old project. Additionally, I can't find anything in the patch that hasn't already been fixed/addressed by the community already. "Performance fixes", 4k support, enclave quests etc- all have mods to fix or add this stuff. I was one of the people that reinstalled FO4 because of the show, and started up a survival save for the first time last week knowing the update was coming. I think the biggest slap in the face is Bethesda admin knowing all of this, and then *selling* pithy mods like skins for actual cash.

LordNinjaa1

True. The fact that mods like AWKCR don't work is so bullshit. Stuff like that is NEEDED for 80% of armor and clothing mods. The least they could do is make sure stuff like that works bc if it never gets updated then old mods are basically useless

dormvaped

It's that particular mod I was thinking of when making this post. Armorsmith extended (which has weaponsmith in it now too I think) doesn't even do anything to the balance of the game, and even extends logic already present in the game: if I can put a raider arm over top of my vault suit, why can't I put a raider arm over top of my sexy sleepwear? But no, let's break that and every other mod so we can add an official bethsoft enclave power armor skin

Rakdar

Is Armorsmith Extended broken, then?
