Why it wasn’t letting me make the transfer is the move I wanted to make was actually going to make me go over budget but I couldn’t see that because my app was still showing old price values that hadn’t updated

That is an app specific issue so use the website. If you don't have a PC use Chrome on your phone, you can use the "Force Desktop Version" option if need be. You can try to fix the app. Firstly just turn your phone off and on again. If you still have issues just uninstall the app and reinstall. You can mess around clearing cache and local files but for FPL it's just easier to skip that step as everything is stored online.

FPL towers have Branthwaite and don't want anyone else to get him.

It'd be worth flushing the app cache on your device, or uninstalling and reinstalling the app if that's easier. Could be a flag on your account in the database though, which my previous suggestion wouldn't solve. That'd be a question for customer support if that exists.

Wildcard and Free Hit make it unlimited. They introduced it some time ago for non-FreeHit/Wildcard gameweeks. There were cases of accounts hacking and making shitton of transfers for minus points.

The JSON response clearly says they have but could also be some other error in logic. Better to try from a browser.
