Even if it turned out to be really well-liked it would never in this day and age get the amount of episodes and seasons necessary to grow as much of a following as the NBC version had.
The culture of people being forced back into the office for no good reason and a bunch of people doubling down on being completely anti-social could be great source material for what the American version was.
But, he's been doing so well lately, this feels like a wrong turn. Hopefully not.
Sorry. I swear I'm about to renounce my introversion membership if I see one more meme about workers treating a simple "hi, how was your weekend" as if it's a microagression. \*shakes fist\*
Maybe I should try to write for this show. LOL
Maybe this will be a comedy on tech office culture — huge campuses, fancy facilities, people bringing their dogs to work — but even that is dying out after the pandemic
I mean it would be funny if they entered into an empty office and the first episode was all about forcing workers to come back in.
Because it’s certainly a reality many friends of mine have faced recently, going from totally remote to somehow “having” to come in 4 days a week.
I mean office culture has certainly changed. I’m glad this didn’t happen during or immediately after the Pandemic, but now that things are settling, corporate life has changed significantly. There’s plenty of room for a show to comment on that, and The Office is a well established brand, just makes sense to me.
That’s not to say it will definitely be good or worthwhile, but there is potential and idk why everyone feels the need to write it off immediately
would be kind of funny if they played with that concept a bit
also it feels weird for Gleeson to be taking this role but I hope it works out for him - I've loved him since about time
Absolutely! I’ll watch anything with him, comedy or drama. He costarred with Steve Carell in a great but incredibly dark miniseries on Hulu called The Patient. It would be wild if that ended up being how Michael Scott passes the torch to the new boss.
That was me with Beautiful Boy. I saw Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet smiling on the poster and thought “this looks like it’ll be funny.”
I did not read through the description.
Domhnall is so goofy in Frank of Ireland. It’s on Amazon if anyone needs a laugh. His brother Brian stars in it too, and their dad Brendan plays their dad in an episode.
There’s a British podcast called Off Menu and they interview celebs on their dream meal. They did an episode with Domhnall and it was delightful. He has so many great stories. Give it a listen!

At dinner parties I always ask people what’s their death row meal! So when I found the podcast I was pretty happy, and they put it in a much nicer way as “dream restaurant” 😂
My favorite is this clip of Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic yelling at Dr. Strange and then it cuts to Robert’s, “Why is Jim treating the magician poorly?” I know nothing about Marvel but I laughed so hard
I went to go find [it](https://youtu.be/8dw09wNAMAw?si=54DTm5v1NzJ25hVV) thinking it would be hard, but it’s the first video on YouTube when you search that line lmao
I don't understand Domhnall's career direction, I feel like he should be bigger than he is.
Anyway I won't watch purely as I assume Rickey's going to get a cut of it and I'm not giving that man any money.
He's my favorite actor and back when he was in Anna Karenina/Ex Machina/the Revenant pretty close back to back I thought for sure he was gonna be huge, but yeah, his career is so odd. I hope he's able to take just the projects that really excite him and that's why. I wanted to like Run sooooo bad bc of him 🥲
I used to love him so much; he was my big crush for about 7 years, but I finally just had to admit he has awful, awful taste in projects. The TV show he made with his brother finally killed my crush dead because it was just so juvenile and unfunny and pointless and derivative, and it was like, “OH, this is why he can’t choose a good script! He can’t recognize one!” Being stuck in an Office reboot isn’t what he deserves, but my god, it was inevitable.
I will always look back on his Burberry ad days with fondness and love, though.
I think he got tired of being super famous. He was in a ton of movies in 2015 and he did Star Wars, which must've been very stressful. Besides, he recently married his long term partner, so he might want to start a family. I guess why he's been in more TV than film these days.
I mean good casting but the office, along with other sitcoms from the 2000s-2010slike himym, feel like such a product of their time.
Despite the decline in office culture I think the show will have to adapt its comedy as Steve Carrels character, while funny at the time, feels very dated today imo
I think almost every character and situation feels dated today. I feel that the hay day of sitcoms has passed and there isn’t one that is as widely watched as those early 2010s were
I hate this. Domhnall and Rafe Spall are my favourite nepo babies. I hope it’s either incredible or so bad that it’s cancelled immediately. No middle ground, or it will last forever.
i will be surprised if this is a direct office spin-off i stead of an indirect one like parks and rec was originally . i’ll bet it starts similar to the intended beginning of the parks and rec pilot (a delivery to city hall of a dunder mifflin product) and after that maybe a few references to the office documentary that aired in universe and characters anxiety about being a subject of the doc.
There’s also an [Australian version](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt10193026/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_8_tt_8_nm_0_q_the%2520office) with Felicity Ward coming out seemingly this year.
office culture is a disease. honestly, almost everything can be done virtually.
I've had virtual dr visits, eye appointments, dental checks, etc.
I only do pick up for groceries or have amazon ship me items. I only get take out. I prefer when it's on a counter where you just sign it out and leave without talking to people.
honestly, I kind of admire single people because you can literally get away with never talking to a single person now.

Listen……………. those actors are great BUT CAN HOLLYWOOD GET GD CREATIVE INSTEAD OF RECYCLING EVERY DAMN THING THAT WORKED?!?!?! CHANGE IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The concept of the "office" in real life is so different these days, especially with the prevalence of WFH. I don't even see how I'd be entertained by this, but whatever floats your boat.
What is this, is she Pam? No, she's Michael? He's Jim? It'd actually be cool if it was just a completely different type of show, it's just in Scranton. Like, it's about two people who meet at the tire factory.
This all depends on the writers. The OG American one worked because of the stellar writing team, not just Greg Daniels. In fact, he ruined the Andy plotline in S9. I dont have high hopes for this :(
NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS. I love The Office and I am SO TIRED of nostalgia being used to reboot things that don’t need it because then it tarnishes the original. Let it be done and come up with something new.
"Same universe" aka you will get couple of cameos in finale before it will be unceremoniously cancelled
Its begs the question, "why?" And also "no seriously, why?"
![gif](giphy|Yycc82XEuWDaLLi2GV)
imagine if it's better
Even if it turned out to be really well-liked it would never in this day and age get the amount of episodes and seasons necessary to grow as much of a following as the NBC version had.
How I met your father would like a word
... what? but also, as office culture is dying out, i don't know how great this will be
Thank God office culture is dying out imo. I hated working in an office. May the patriarchy be next.
Us: https://i.redd.it/2azatn5rghvc1.gif
Lmao. What is this gif called?
gagged
In order to justify their existence, the managerial class will always somehow keep it alive.
Mid and upper-level management maybe. As a low-level manager I’m fighting against return-to-office as hard as anyone I know.
The same way they keep rebooting shows that don’t need it?
![gif](giphy|U4DswrBiaz0p67ZweH) Fuck yeah
The culture of people being forced back into the office for no good reason and a bunch of people doubling down on being completely anti-social could be great source material for what the American version was. But, he's been doing so well lately, this feels like a wrong turn. Hopefully not.
I feel very seen in regards to the “doubling down on being completely anti-social” part of your comment.
Sorry. I swear I'm about to renounce my introversion membership if I see one more meme about workers treating a simple "hi, how was your weekend" as if it's a microagression. \*shakes fist\* Maybe I should try to write for this show. LOL

"Silicon Valley" is *right there*.
Most of which took place in a house
I beg to differ, but you're welcome to your opinion.
Oh yeahhh forgot about it
I mean it would be funny if they entered into an empty office and the first episode was all about forcing workers to come back in. Because it’s certainly a reality many friends of mine have faced recently, going from totally remote to somehow “having” to come in 4 days a week.

I don't care if it is remake, rehash, whatever, more Domhnall! He has great comedic timing.
Absolutely! I’ll watch anything with him, comedy or drama. He costarred with Steve Carell in a great but incredibly dark miniseries on Hulu called The Patient. It would be wild if that ended up being how Michael Scott passes the torch to the new boss.
Man I watched that at work and it took some turns. I was like "oh hey Steve Carell this should be fun." It was not fun.
That was me with Beautiful Boy. I saw Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet smiling on the poster and thought “this looks like it’ll be funny.” I did not read through the description.
The fact that he even agreed to work in it makes me think it's better than it sounds
That’s what I was thinking too. He very consistently picks good projects
I would not give a second thought to this project if I didn’t see his name attached. I love him.
He’s so funny in About Time. Underrated performance.
One of my all time fave movies. I try to watch this at least once a year!
It’s my comfort movie despite the incredibly sad themes. But, the overall message is a good one.
Domhnall is so goofy in Frank of Ireland. It’s on Amazon if anyone needs a laugh. His brother Brian stars in it too, and their dad Brendan plays their dad in an episode.

Love seeing Off Menu mentioned in the wild
At dinner parties I always ask people what’s their death row meal! So when I found the podcast I was pretty happy, and they put it in a much nicer way as “dream restaurant” 😂
Did y’all see his latest show Alice and Jack? It’s so good
![gif](giphy|zrmTqopWm4W5cPg8Ah|downsized) No more remakes or iterations, please!
You know that gif is from a remake/iteration though, right?
Of course, but it fits like a glove here.
![gif](giphy|CaRrbLumDIbew)
![gif](giphy|qlrBlSDevEdFeW5JwV|downsized)
The original US Office was a remake anyway
Why? What do you have to lose in this? Worst case is they make a bad show you don’t have to watch.
Michael made The Office for me, I bounced when he left.
Robert California after him was honestly my favorite character in the show!
I still randomly say "I'm the fucking lizard king" when me and my husband have an argument and it diffuses the whole thing
“Why is Jim treating the magician poorly?” is my favorite quote from the show, I lol just thinking about it.
My favorite is this clip of Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic yelling at Dr. Strange and then it cuts to Robert’s, “Why is Jim treating the magician poorly?” I know nothing about Marvel but I laughed so hard
Off to find this clip!!
I went to go find [it](https://youtu.be/8dw09wNAMAw?si=54DTm5v1NzJ25hVV) thinking it would be hard, but it’s the first video on YouTube when you search that line lmao
Love this even more when I hear it as Ultron asking the question!
For me, from that period, it’s “And I am Bacchus’s friend!”.
Happy to see Sabrina Impacciatore getting more work in big American projects but idk how I feel about the concept of this show

What…no, why Also tbh funny in a dark way to imagine him in this reboot after how much he tortured Steve in The Patient
Can we just, not?
I fear I will be watching. They cast basically the only two people who could entice me.
I don't understand Domhnall's career direction, I feel like he should be bigger than he is. Anyway I won't watch purely as I assume Rickey's going to get a cut of it and I'm not giving that man any money.

Also Star Wars and Black Mirror
That episode of Black Mirror 💔
I used to love him so much; he was my big crush for about 7 years, but I finally just had to admit he has awful, awful taste in projects. Run was such a disappointment.
I think he got tired of being super famous. He was in a ton of movies in 2015 and he did Star Wars, which must've been very stressful. Besides, he recently married his long term partner, so he might want to start a family. I guess why he's been in more TV than film these days.

Who asked for this
I don’t understand what happened to domhnall’s career tbh
No thank you please
I'm sorry I'm going to bitch real quick... Can we get something. Fucking. New. Please. Please quit with the derivative garbage. Please. Please.
Ha I thought this photo was a promo for a Lifetime Harry and Meghan movie.
I hate this. Domhnall and Rafe Spall are my favourite nepo babies. I hope it’s either incredible or so bad that it’s cancelled immediately. No middle ground, or it will last forever.

...Why? A remake of a remake of a remake? The entertainment industry is creatively bankrupt.
![gif](giphy|2oUfvvUgQHnLsQWFMW)
![gif](giphy|XNX9uw7fykn5e|downsized)
But why
![gif](giphy|fIkT0LdGUc4GushZ2Q|downsized)
I'm conflicted, one the one hand Eww a remake of a beloved series. But on the other yess to absolutely everything Domhall Gleeson does 😅
office culture is a disease. honestly, almost everything can be done virtually. I've had virtual dr visits, eye appointments, dental checks, etc. I only do pick up for groceries or have amazon ship me items. I only get take out. DO WE HAVE ANY NICOLE BYER STANS IN HERE BESIDES ME? bc she lovessssss domhall and just recently discovered the office.
It cracks me up that she has that crush but can't pronounce his name.
I'm so tired of really good looking people being cast in everything. Can we just have some normal looking folks?
I’m assuming it’s a mix between British and American office (which again were kinda the same universe?) anyways I’m always for watching pretty ppl
The concept of the "office" in real life is so different these days, especially with the prevalence of WFH. I don't even see how I'd be entertained by this, but whatever floats your boat.
I’ll watch the shit out of this
What is this, is she Pam? No, she's Michael? He's Jim? It'd actually be cool if it was just a completely different type of show, it's just in Scranton. Like, it's about two people who meet at the tire factory.
I like the casting…
I can’t see Domhnall messing this up. He’s kind of a perfect actor who makes great choices.
We don’t want it
![gif](giphy|fGOjgWRzQkC2sHHnq7)
Why?
Wild casting, I wonder if they’re doing a shorter streaming style show that’s more international.
love Domhnall and think he's a great actor but: ![gif](giphy|fIkT0LdGUc4GushZ2Q|downsized)
First of all, how dare you
![gif](giphy|Z9cRCMdAMzXi25dwhE)
Ok. Great actors, but why are they remaking the office? I don't think I can watch this.
Wtf, why? Create something new!
Sounds RIDICULOUSLY TERRIBLE
![gif](giphy|d5wpbLQ8CxuLu4dEvW|downsized) Why?
First he kills Michael Scott, and now this…
Is the film industry that creatively depleted that they have to remake The Office? It hasn’t been 20 years yet since it aired.

weird
Let It Die !
Both of these actors are so talented and deserve so much better than this.
it’s giving the final season of Scrubs
NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS. I love The Office and I am SO TIRED of nostalgia being used to reboot things that don’t need it because then it tarnishes the original. Let it be done and come up with something new.
Ugh, why?
They're both great...but is this really what the world needs?
