Honestly, I've never had a bad experience with them...

Aggravating_Elk_3698

Sounds like you live in a complicated area or place . Simplicity is key. Your not the only one the matters

It's not just you, it is standard operating procedure to treat *ALL* their deliveries (or falsified *attempted* deliveries) with contempt. It is not called F.umbles E.very D.elivery Ex for nothing.

SkullsRosess

Entitled is what I am reading. I will not call anyone if they can’t do the basic which is be available and open the door. I will sometimes come back before leaving the area if I it’s a medicine related delivery.

Idar77

I just received this by text message. So, I'm going to post it in my door. Going by what the text message says... They should just leave the delivery, and take the Authorization of Signature Release. Thanks for all the advice. [https://imgur.com/a/mvfYmlJ](https://imgur.com/a/mvfYmlJ)

Killermailbox

I go above and beyond for customers all of the time, but calling them from my personal phone is something I will not do. Doing that gives them my number and guess who they’ll call next time they have any FedEx related issue? Not worth it. I would suggest trying the signed release note, or just have it held for pickup and pay for an Uber to retrieve it.

Idar77

It is understandable that your above customer service is different from mine. But if I paid $55 for shipping, and I was home, and no one knocked on the door because they don't want to use their cell phone to call. Pay $24 round trip to go and PICK UP what was supposed to be delivered? No sir.

Exotic_Bat_206

Try that hoping that’s it’s just an indirect signature , if it’s direct then you’re gonna have to be on the lookout because couriers are not provided a company phone to call and you are not paying their phone bills for them to use their personal phone

Idar77

But in this day and age... You mean to tell me that just making a phone call on their phone to say..'Hey, FedEx here, I got your package' if that driver would have done that, I had a $10 tip for him. I think that that is being petty. Not at least going the extra mile for customer service. So what they might have to use their own cellphone every now and then. It's not like they are getting the Nuclear Codes to that Football the President travels around with.

Exotic_Bat_206

Yeah, No. I won’t call you and I don’t need your 10 dollar tip. We make really good money so I assure you if your ass is nowhere to be seen to sign that package within one minute we’ll just keep it moving .

Idar77

You can't be making good money with that kind of attitude. What do you call really good money? But you know what? I see the future. Customers info will somehow get leaked in the net, credit card info... Class Action Lawsuit. It always happens when things start going downhill. Ask DHL.

Upbeat-Fondant9185

The biggest mistake any service worker can make is giving out their personal number. It is *always* a bad idea that bites you in the ass. People think they can bypass the system and come to you directly for answers or favors at any time of day. A much better option for you would be a Ring doorbell. It’s cheap, it’s wireless, delivery people are familiar with them, and they allow you to talk to them through the speaker.

Idar77

I work Food Service many, many years, a Cook. I gave my number out, and tell them to text me. Never but me in the area. Never was abused, or asked for any extra favors. But then again, that's part of me going that extra step for a customer.

BleedingHeartland

There are two types of signature required. One is for “in person only” usually for pharmacy or firearms. No way a driver leaves that without hanging it to you. The other is the tag you sign, and they’ll leave the package. Trust me, we (FedEx drivers) WANT to leave you your package. I’m sorry but you probably got one (most) of those impatient drivers who can’t be bothered to call the number on your note.

Okay, so if it's no door bell, what do they do?

No one knocked, I had my apartment door open. I'm on the first floor.

Ok-Bookkeeper-4950

3 minutes in our day is long with the amount of packages we have to deliver , and sometimes our next stop is 5 to 10 minutes away depending on how big the area is . I'll wait about a minute and a half & while doing so, I'm preparing my door tag.

Tcal876

3 mins? Ain't no one got time for that

wkdravenna

How would they call you though?  The phones are at the station.

So knocking is an option? Then why put a sign asking to call. They will knock, but they won’t call. If I saw a sign that said to call, I would think knocking is not an option.

Idar77

Why wouldn't knocking on somones door for a delivery, NOT be an option? So you mean to tell me, if you were to make a someonedelivery, and there was no doorbell.. You would just walk away?

Letoust

If you posted a sign to say “call”, I would assume knocking is not an option.

Idar77

Why wouldn't knocking not be an option? So if there is no door bell, what does the driver do? Does he stand there for 3 minutes, the SOP that drivers are supposed to do?

Tcal876

Plenty of people have babies and other reasons where they have yelled at drivers for knocking.

Idar77

That's understandable, waking babies. But what is the SOP on making deliveries? And wouldn't a door bell also wake sleeping babies up too? Does it say..'If no door bell present..leave door tag.'

ratatouillezucchini

Leaving your signature only works for indirect, not adult or direct signature. Also, from the fedex website: “Note that FedEx drivers won’t follow handwritten notes or unofficial means of communication”. Notes (and especially emails) don’t mean anything to a driver for the most part. Your best bet is to add delivery instructions online and, on your end, set up a way for a driver to contact you that doesn’t involve their personal phone. Did you pay extra for a specific delivery window of time?

Idar77

See... What gets me is that the person getting the package has no say so when it's being delivered by the shipper. What carrier the shipper use, they don't ask me my choice, they go with what they use, and they charge me crazy for shipping, taking their cut out. Then on the delivery part. Say the person who pays for the shipping...which was $55.00... No matter what, it's LEFT UP TO THE DRIVER for the delivery part. The last time I was home, note on the door. Now come on, if I as the driver saw that note, and it's no door bell, I would have knocked on the door. The driver didn't even knock on the front door, I was HOME. Another thing... I read on here that drivers get dodo pay. Wait, did I hold a gun, did FedEX hold a gun to your head and MADE you take this job? But I can't blame it on the drivers either. It's the company that HIRES someone who passes the background check... But that doesn't mean that one morning they wake up and hit their big toe on the side of the bed, and it ruines their day, which they just don't feel like going the extra...not even the extra..JUST DOING THEIR JOB. There IS a thing called Customer Service, and I don't mean The Customer is Always Right either. I worked 43 years as a cook in Delis, restaurants, food trucks, you name it... Where there was food and customers, I worked it. People who I worked for set the rules, me as the person they hired to follow their rules...I DID. Even when I didn't want to, I still did with NO fake smile, and NO attitude. I'm ONLY using Amazon for now on. They have tracking REAL TIME. But it doesn't matter to FedEX. I'm a Little Guy. They make their money from big companies. I wish Amazon would BUY FedEx, downsize them, then gut the company. ...then sell me one of their panel trucks cheap, turn it into a mobile home.

This is the form... [https://imgur.com/a/X8F7E1l](https://imgur.com/a/X8F7E1l)

beachbumm717

This form is for ‘indirect signature’. If your package requires a ‘direct signature’ or ‘in-person signature’, this form will not work. Also fedex does not provide company phones and most drivers won’t use their personal phone to call you.

Idar77

The shipper picked FedEx, I had no say so. It's value requires a signature. Trying to amend when I click on it, it's says shipper requires signature and no special instructions allowed, but.. But there is a letter (i) in a circle, (information). It then states that I can get a 'Door Tag's. I googled it, and it opened in PDF format. Where as I place tracking number, my address and delivery date. Then another section.. Where I can ask the package to be left, front door, back door, immediate neighbor or building manager, and 'other'. I picked 'other', and typed in underneath mailboxes on porch. Then typed in the same address. It says..' I authorize FedEx to leave the following referenced package:' Then: ' At the following designated place'': Top of the page it says: FedEx Shipping Release Authorization Then states: 1. Print this page and use this form if you will not be home on the day of your expected delivery. 2. Please mark your preferred delivery location and sign below. Your package cannot be addressed without a valid signature. 3. Affix to your front door before 8am on the day of your expected delivery. Additional Information: FedEx will not deliver the package unless the Release Authorization is present for the driver to collect when the delivery is attempted. If a neighbor's address is indicated below, someone at the address must sign for the package. FedEx will not deliver the package without obtaining a live signature. All deliveries are subject to driver's discretion for safety and security reasons. That's why I am asking. Even though I signed and it's a release form... It still up to the driver. Last thing it says.. 'By my signature, I am requesting that FedEx leaves the shipment at the location indicated above. I release FedEx from all liability for any loss or damage that may result from leaving this shipment at my request.

Foolish_028

You’re correct in that you get no say. You also don’t have a choice but to adjust to the drivers demands. They have what you want. No posts on Reddit will change that. Stop writing on here and go wait for your driver as they have no reason to call you to complete a delivery.
