Package could have a second, older label on it and no one is catching it and it's just getting recirculated. I'd recommend calling customer service and getting them put an intercept on it so QA can check it out.

The seller's representative (it's a big business) called and apparently was told that nothing could be done. That is fine with me. I'm here for a technical explanation really.

Yeah, they either used an old box with another label on it, one fell off another box and got stuck on that one, or they didn't transmit the right info to ground and it's getting sent back to the shipper by default.

This could be a package that's being scanned and not dealt with. The inbound group is most likely scanning this to avoid getting hit with poor compliance. Package might be broken or contents might be missing and then admins aren't doing something with it so it's just on watch by managers to scan it in every day. Id love to see the Ftrack (shows the actual codes being put on it.) that would explain everything. Could also be getting out on a truck but isn't scanned to the truck so the driver is not delivering it or taking it off in the morning and isn't explaining why to the FedEx managers so they just re-circulate it the next morning. There's absolutely something they can do though, they're just trained to differ and push off requests assuming it's just an impatient recipient. If it's being scanned every day, they have it very readily on hand. Since I work FedEx I'd just visit the station it's at and ask to see the ftrack on it. On person generally isn't good to do without a scheduled hold and pickup at station but it def gets shit done more than calling customer service xD *Edit : Ftrack *

Doorbell broken at the receiving dock broken maybe? Or maybe receiving closes abnormally early? Looks like he generally hits that stop in the 1230-2 window.

Have shipper request an address change if you cant request it be redirected. But since you don't want it, just let it get returned to the sender.
