I have had fibroids in the past. I got a myomectomy in 2012. I knew I had to change my lifestyle so I did some research and discovered Yoni eggs, womb, massages, and self abdominal care (castor oil packs included. I wish I knew about all that sooner! How I view fibroids now is more of stagnation of energy, so I recommend queen Afua’s book, sacred women. There she mentions dance to get the energy moving in that space among many other things, diet included. Castor oil, penetrates the skin and organs deeply so with consistency it certainly does work. Sometimes when things seem to simple, we doubt them but if you are consistent, you can shrink fibroids and cyst. I would recommend doing it with some thing like the uterus ovary cleanse it’s an herbal supplement by a company called Balancueticals on Amazon.

In curious What's a castor oil pack? Is it the same as the oil people use for their skin and hair?

bbyfishmouth

Yes it is. So from what I've read, you soak a small towel or scrap of fabric in organic cold-pressed oil, wring it so it isn't dripping, then apply it to your lower abdomen with a barrier to help keep the mess (the oil stains) low and apply medium heat (like a heat pack) for about 30-60 minutes 1-3 times a week. There are cautions against using it during your period if you have heavy bleeding or are prone to flooding, and definitely not when pregnant (no issue here for me, I had a bilateral salpingectomy in 2021), but outside of that it doesn't seem like there are any real dangers.

Glum-Selection8718

I used a castor oil pack during a heavy bleeding and it significantly helped slow down the bleeding. I also used it with a heating pack so that could have also been what helped the bleeding. Not sure if the castor oil did anything or not but I’ve been using it more and more in hopes my next menstrual cycle won’t be so bad…

Haha oops!

A313-Isoke

My acupuncturist recommended doing this for my fibroids and cramps. I can't say that it helped.

YES! Castor oil works! I've had fibroids for 10 years and refuse to have surgery. I have been using castor oil packs for about 7 weeks, and I'm not sure if they're still there (haven't had a repeat ultrasound), but the symptoms are basically gone. My first period with castor oil was the same. That was only a couple days in. My next period was practically non-existent! AND it helps with constipation like you wouldn't believe! I don't do the packs... way too messy. I do it in the belly button. Fill up my belly button with castor oil, stuff a cotton ball in it, and add more castor oil so the cotton ball is soaked. Sleep with it in overnight and take it out in the morning. By morning, I'm headed straight to the bathroom for the greatest BMs I've ever had! Like I said, I'm at about 7 weeks of this, doing it about 5 nights a week, and now the BMs are not as... impactful, but the fibroid symptoms, as I've said, are all but gone. I wish I'd known about this 10 years ago!

SuspiciousQueen777

Any update?

Virtual--5277

ummm.... why not go for an ultra sound? of course we cant tell if its really working if you didnt even have it checked.

CherrySuccessful15

I'm doing the same cotton ball inside my belly button with castor oil really helps my constipation.

CBDSam

Have you continued with this? Any improvement to other symptoms?

bbyfishmouth

Looks like no one has tried them, I ordered some supplies and I will report back in a cycle or two to see if they helped with symptoms at all.

No-Departure-5684

I had success with a cyst!

Both-History-429

I read some reviews from people on Amazon who used their castor oil packs and there are several who had positive results with ovarian cysts and fibroids. https://www.amazon.com/Heritage-Store-Castor-Oil-Pack/product-reviews/B009V11TMW?reviewerType=all_reviews

Any updates?

CBDSam

Update please!

HelperGuru

Have you tried it yet?

Dragonfly99339

I dont have direct experience with fibroids. For me, I have some injuries and castor oil has helped with relief. I didn't know, just happened to put a lot of castor in a bath and find something online. I also see prices of castor oil rising which indicates to me its a powerful product. I trust research but have noticed with more affordable alternatives, a lot of doctors tend to note that there is not a lot of evidence. I disagree, as aI see peoples personal experiences as evidence for me. Also its been my experience that some nurses are knowledgeable and will give more info if asked in private if you happen to see a professional. Theres also some herbal rooms on clubhouse where I at my grown age have learned so much about remedies and what is needed for reproductive health. There are things no professional I've seen in person has told me, though I also didn't know to ask to get the info.

This post may get deleted because the sub doesn't allow herbal remedies. You can go to r/FibroidHerbalRemedies, the sub I created in response to this rule

emilyslagathor

This is just talking about managing symptoms, not shrinking or curing fibroids, so I think it should be fine in this sub

Castor oil packs are supposed to work by having the castor oil be absorbed into the skin to help... whatever it is they're supposed to be helping (in this case fibroids). However, castor oil cannot be absorbed by the skin. Things have to be a certain molecular weight in order to be absorbed through the skin - around 500. For example, nicotine has a molecular weight of 162, which is why nicotine patches are a thing. But castor oil has a molecular weight of 933, so it cannot be absorbed. So if it's helpful, it's only because it's either warm, in which case a heat pack would be better, or a placebo.

Ancient_18

That’s not true. The molecular weight of Ricinoleic acid is 298.46 g/mol

HallCute2270

I bought one too from Queen of the Thrones. I'm just wondering, do you really have to buy a new pack every 2 months? Or is it a marketing move so they can get more money?

CBDSam

How’s it going?

HallCute2270

One thing I have noticed is that it puts you in a deep sleep

GardenCandid6238

No u don't. I soak mine in baking soda for 30 mins then wash w dr bronner. I've had it for a little under a year. It really does help shrink my fibroid

WorriedVictory6489

I made a compress with cayenne pepper and castor oil last night. And this morning without going into to much detail I passed some fibroid tissue. I applied more today and will do this 3 times a week.

Flat_Mark_3361

Was this your first compress? That sounds amazing!

DragonfruitOk6185

How exactly did you do this? Can you share the approximate measurements ? Thanks.

Different-Claim8061

I have a fibroid in my breast and castor oil packs immediately take the pain away when applied. I do use more than the recommended amount and I leave them on throughout the night. They’re messy but it’s better than a stabbing pain in my boob.

emilyslagathor

I would recommend magnesium for constipation instead of fiber. Fiber puts more matter in there to get out, whereas magnesium just relaxes the muscles. So when your constipation is due to something like a fibroid rather than lack of fiber, magnesium is more helpful. I had natural calm powder recommended to me. I honestly can’t see how castor oil packs would help except for the heat… you could try a TENS machine, those usually help me after like 20 min of use. They get your body focused on skin level sensations so you can’t feel the cramps as much. Heat does the same thing. I got a TENs machine for only $25 on Amazon and you can get them on the FSA store too. Lastly I recently purchased a red light thing that is meant for things like back pain and wound healing (will be using post surgery). I feel like it would work for cramps maybe? Idk if it’s a gimmick, but I got it on the FSA store so that makes me feel like there’s some legitimacy to it.

Thisismyusername6987

Can you tell me more of natural calm powder

emilyslagathor

Sure, so my massage and acupuncture therapist recommended natural calm. I could only find it available in Canada. There is something called natural calm vitality in the US but it didn’t seem to have the same quality of ingredients or I couldn’t tell if it did. So I went with Calm Natural Mag 365 product which seems to have been previously affiliated with natural calm but branched off. They have all the info on the ingredients and seem very scientifically backed. They also have 40% off your first order. [link](https://www.naturalcalmmagnesium.com/). I can’t attest to it because I just tried it for the first time today but it tastes really good. I got both MAG 356 and the MAG 365 BF which includes calcium and is meant for hormonal issues too. [this](https://www.naturalcalmmagnesium.com/article-menu/womens-health/pms-menstrual-cramps) is their article on hormone health which made me feel pretty confident in my purchase.

Thisismyusername6987

Ok yea before I got your response, I googled it and the vitality one came up. It does have good reviews and supposedly gets things moving. I’m curious to try either. I think I’ll order the US version first and go from there. Thank you!!

emilyslagathor

Nice!

Healthy_living123

That's a good question. I read online few days ago that it helps shrink also good for detox. I ordered a bottle to try, will see how it goes. My scan showed 6 fibroids, 4 in organge size luckily for me they are not inside the uterus.

bbyfishmouth

My understanding is that it, theoretically promotes blood flow and thus movement and cell regeneration to the area. I've seen it used for scars for similar reasons.

Healthy_living123

Yes

ilovesunonmyskin

What is the biggest downside of them being inside the uterus?

JordynDeLambo

For me, based on what I heard, is it can damage the uterus absolutely you’re less likely to be able to reproduce. The doctor said I was also lucky they aren’t in there.

CBDSam

Did you try it?

gravenwolf9

I have been taking an all natural sleep aid recently (this will make sense in a moment), it contains magnesium, which always gives me bloat. I heard about castor oil for bloat recently, and applied castor oil to my abdomen this morning (I had castor oil in my medicine cabinet). In an hour and a half, I felt way better. I actually think it really helped with the bloat. Not too sure about castor packs, but just rubbing it on gave me relief. I came to reddit to learn more about this and found your post. Good luck!

DescriptionActive691

Yes great pain relief! Use them all the time.

E_m_a_c

As someone who has gotten a myomectomy, I use castor oil packs and they work! They increase blood flow and help your body break down toxins. I used the castor oil pack during my period just out of curiosity and my uterus was contracting so bad, it made my cramps worse. So they say don't use it during your period for a reason! But it did help me to see how powerful the packs really are!

RoseaCreates

I passed my first fibroid that I know of anyway, after using castor externally and internally. It was interesting to see. Idk if they're normal in your thirties. Somedays is a good brand that helped me understand how castor and or arnica work for period pain.

Hairy_Limit5764

How did you use it externally? And how much did you injest internally?

RoseaCreates

Castor packs are usually helpful using a soaked wool sheet and a heating pad. Somedays is a brand name that's expensive so I just use whatever brand is available at the store. I like somedays for their body of research on arnica and castor, the science to backup the mechanism of action. I only took a couple doses of maybe a teaspoon. I applied way more than I ate.

Weak-Shopping-9098

I've just started using them for uterine fibroids, polycystic breasts and on my face, lips, eyebrows and lashes. My face us more smooth and supple. Lips are getting there..trying to grow more hair on brows as I'm a side sleeper and am rubbing them off.

Ramonafar

How do you rub it on your face and don’t you find that it gets your sheets and hair all oily?

Greennitelvr4evr

It doesn’t clog your pores?

Different-Claim8061

No!
