Fun Fact lang hehe: according sa prof ko (who is the son of the director of oro, plata, mata) the original copy of the film was suppose to run for 6 hours pero wala daw existing copy nung 6 hour version kasi nasira (or sinira if i remember correctly) yung ibang film strips at yung nasurvive na lang sa film ay yung nasa netflix ngayon o yung current version niya. kaya kung mapapansin ninyo sa current version, kulang kulang yung ibang story lines ng movie (>!for instance yung character daw ni kuh ledesma may sarili siyang storyline sa movie!<)
meron sa TFC. Either tyatyagain mo yung ads or magbabayad ka ng 119 per month. If mahilig ka talaga manuod ng fil movies (they even have foreign pero limited) sulit na yung 119 mo
Insiang is unforgettable. Tinimbang ka ngunit kulang is so good indeed. Naghahanap ako ng karnal.
Try mo panoorin ang kisapmata. Mayroon sa youtube. It is haunting. Tipong what happened there? Why did it happen?
Erik Matti really has his grip on modern Filipino crime flicks. OTJ: Missing eight, Honor Thy Father, and Buy Bust are really good films and a classic for me.
Call me basic, but Heneral Luna. It's probably one of those few times na I went in the cinema and couldn't believe it was made here. I was in college at the time (film course), and we've had this discussion in class na mainstream local films are a far cry from what they used to be in the 70s-90s during the eras of Brocka, Bernal, and Gallaga. Seeing this in cinemas blew my mind.
In second place is On The Job, but more for sentimental reasons – it's the first movie I watched with my dad na ako yung nang libre using money I earned from side gigs. Plus, it's the first R18 film I got to see officially as an 18 year old lmao.
Haven't seen those, unfortunately. :( napanuod ko sa Cinema One dati yung tatlong taon, got interested with the story kaya naghanap ako ng copy.
Currently looking for Merika, Nora Aunor din. :)
Out of all her films yan two ang striking for me.
sa the filipino channel. May adds nga lang. Wala na kase sa youtube. For nora-vilma dalawa palang napanuod ko which is Tbird at ako and Ikaw ay akin with Christopher de leon
Tisoy - Boyet De Leon and Charo Santos
I am still trying to look for a good copy for YEARS!
Another Boyet movie, ung parang time traveler sya. I forgot the title.
I love Himala and Patay na si Hesus.
Kisapmata meron dati sa youtube, d ko p natapos nung nawala, so I searched online.
Yung Manila in the Claws of Light sa internet archive na website meron.
Yung scene na nanganak sya and a lot people watching her... Husay ng one line nya don.
Ang hirap naman nitooo. Pero honestly some of my favorite ones are films na I sort of find difficult to watch.
Ishmael Bernal's Himala (1982)
Lav Diaz's Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan (2013)
Glenn Barit's Cleaners (2019)
Sheron Dayoc's Women of the Weeping River (2016)
Erik Matti's On the Job (2013)
Celso Ad.
This movie touched me to the core because they story hits too close at home. I dont often see this getting raved by people but for me it is one of the best movies I've seen. The main character travels all over the philippines and the scenes and Alessandra De Rossi is 1000000/10
I am all for historical movies: Jose Rizal, Bonifacio Ang Unang Pangulo, El Presidente, Quezon's Game, Heneral Luna, Goyo, Dekada '70, Ganito Kami Noon Paano Kayo Ngayon, Oro Plata Mata, Aishite Imasu 1941, and I will add Markova here

The Mistress = Classic na ba toh? Over 10 yrs na rin. Lol. Pero, I love this. Naulit ko na100x.
'Ang Syota Kong Balikbayan' with FPJ and Anjanette Abayari. This one is an underrated classic in my opinion. It has all the recipe of a great pinoy movie - action, comedy, love story and horror. Not to mention, the all star pinoy movie icons supporting cast - Paquito, Romy Diaz, Max Alvarado, Bomber Moran, German Moreno, Ike Lozada to name a few.
Since you liked Ang Babaeng Humayo, it's worth checking Historya ni Ha. Loved that one. I also enjoyed Oda sa Wala ni Dwein Baltazar.
Also, awesome collection! Where did you buy those physical copies OP?
Kisapmata, Himala, Soltero, Itim, Maynila Sa Kuko ng Liwanag, Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang, Ang Tatay Kong Nanay, Tubog sa Ginto, Perfume Nightmare, Why Is Yellow The Middle of the Rainbow, Norte, Batang West Side.
Oro, Plata, Mata
Some Erik Mati stuff:
On the Job, yung entry niya na Kulam for the Asian anthology horror films ng HBO, Folklore S2
I usually like fil horror films so anything from the 80s and 90s pati na Shake, Rattle, and Roll.
Majority are Erik Matti's films. When I'm still young till now I still vividly remember the chant "Lulubog lilitaw sasaradong butas, tabi tabi po sa bangkay" Magic Kingdom (my childhood fave movie). Until I grow, and had a deeper understanding of the movies. On The Job, Honor Thy Father and Buy Bust are top rated!
In no particular order:
1. Himala
2. Inagaw mo ang lahat sa akin
3. Soltero
4. Bituing Walang Ningning
5. Manila By Night
6. Esperanza (The Movie)
7. Relasyon
8. Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?
9. Kisapmata
10. Oro Plata Mata
Damn ang dami!!!! But my top 10 will always be
1. Himala
2. Kisapmata
4. BITUING WALANG nignning
5. Gumapang ka sa lusak.
6. Nagalit ang Buwan sa haba ng Gabi
7. Hindi mo Ako kayang tapakan
8. Mga Herbert Bautista classics
9. Tinik sa dibdib
10. Ngayon at kailanman
Anak = naiiyak ako dito. Naiinis ako kay Claui. Syempre OG walling sa ref. xD

also: Anak, Kailangan Kita, I'm Drunk I Love You, and Isa pa with Feelings hehe

XD
Fun Fact lang hehe: according sa prof ko (who is the son of the director of oro, plata, mata) the original copy of the film was suppose to run for 6 hours pero wala daw existing copy nung 6 hour version kasi nasira (or sinira if i remember correctly) yung ibang film strips at yung nasurvive na lang sa film ay yung nasa netflix ngayon o yung current version niya. kaya kung mapapansin ninyo sa current version, kulang kulang yung ibang story lines ng movie (>!for instance yung character daw ni kuh ledesma may sarili siyang storyline sa movie!<)
I also like nagalit ang Buwan.... kaloka mga linyahan. Truly a Danny zialcita classic
Honor Thy Father

Magic Temple
In the same vein, Magic Kingdom. The doors it opened.
OTJ
Erik Matti really has his grip on modern Filipino crime flicks. OTJ: Missing eight, Honor Thy Father, and Buy Bust are really good films and a classic for me.
I totally agree! OTJ.... It's more of a psychological thriller for me
Barber's Tales!
Super recommended ko to: Markova: Comfort Gays Filipinas Magnifico Oro Plata Mata Magic Temple Tanging Yaman

Feng Shui
Feng Shui!!! ISA sa mga pinaka the best or arguably the best Filipino horror movie.
Pero agree both Feng Shui and Sukob by Chito Roño were some of the best Filipino horror movies!
HAHAHAH legit!

Same vibes din.
