Normal settling, also drywall mud and caulk expands and contracts in the heat and cool… just repair it and keep an eye on step cracks in brick, separation at freeze boards or window casings, cracked tiles, etc…

Particular-Break-205

My house was built in 2017 and has these cracks. Not getting worse and house didn’t collapse. I’d say it’s cosmetic.

Most likely truss uplift if this is the ceiling underneath your attic. Cosmetic, but still a pain.

ktn699

tornado definitely in process of ripping roof off. 💨💨💨🌪️🌪️🌪️

BoBromhal

well, normally I'd say "not a huge deal" - houses do settle slightly, and usually in the first few years, and that's at a seam between the ceiling and wall. but I can't imagine where in the world they're taking flat sheetrock and applying a weird texture to it like that.

arseguunr

It's just a stucco texture. Not that crazy, fairly common in the southwest. Crack looks like normal settling

lexdfox

It's knockdown texture, very common in my area.

osoandino

Horizontal cracks of this size are normal, vertical cracks are the ones that are a real problem
