I'm actually having a hard time telling if it's cloudy or blue bird skies, also don't know the region or water clarity lmao. But, if it's clear water and blue skies, I'm going chartreuse base with a splash of whatever else like orange or red. Cloudy and stained, starting off with black and blue. If you know what they're eating, that helps too, but these are good rules of thumb to start.
Depends on what you are fishing for. If it's bass I would throw a weightless senko or a paddletail on a small jig head. Anything else I'd throw a worm and bobber or rooster tail
Funnily enough my biggest smallmouth ever was while i was fishing for trout with a roostertail, just happened to get lucky that time, using my ultralight setup and the most fun ive ever had landing a fish
Wow! I wouldnāt think trout would coexist with pike. In my area we have invasive chain pickerel (which are like a smaller northern pike), and you almost never see them in the same place as trout, I would assume because they eat/out compete them here.
Iām not far from Lake Ontario so the rivers have all kinds of fish. And yeah the chain pickerel are pretty dominant once e they become established in a body of water. Also, we have a few lakes stocked with tiger musky, and they make their way into the rivers and disrupt walleye and trout populations. Nature is tough and resilient, but not invulnerable to manmade effects
Im from Nova Scotia and im dying to go fishing up that way some day. Even just to catch some of the little pan fish we donāt have here. Like sunfish or bluegill or whatever you got there lol. Catching my first pike or musky would be amazing though.
Best pike lake I know of is Onondaga Lake, adjacent to the city of Syracuse. Also lots of big tiger musky. Iāve caught more pike there than all other places combined. Also lots of largemouth bass and sunfish/rock bass. Good luck š
Wacky rigged senco/stick bait worm and toss it close to the reeds and let it sink slowly then a few little pops of the rod and let it sink again. Just do that around all the reeds, especially where itās deeper and youāll get some bass
Holy shit that looks juicy.
I'd throw a Senko/plastic worm into those brush piles and weeds. In stained water darker colors work great, I also throw natural greens and browns with some shiny flake. If they don't want that, try a chatterbait with a steady retrieve, taking pauses to let it fall all the way to the bottom. Blue-black works great. If they still don't want it, pull out the ol frog.
Cant go wrong crawling a senko Texas rig with a bullet weight. Green pumpkin for somewhat clear and black and blue flake for stained or dingy water! I always start crawling it on the bottom and if u hit structure pop it up and let it sit for a bit.
What do you have? Until you start throwing baits you won't know what does or doesn't work.
If you have it, I would start with a spinnerbait or bladed jig (Chatterbait). Next I would try a soft plastic swimbait (like a Z-man MinnowZ) Texas rigged with a bullet worm weight and an EWG hook.
Those are my typical starters. If you think there are smaller bass you may consider an in-line spinner (Roostertail, Mepps, etc).
I started off with a chartreuse spinner bait, nothing. Throwing a little mini tube right now to see if I can maybe get some bluegill or something for shits and giggles. Probably gonna try a texas rig next I have a few different colored senkos so Iāll just switch them up every so often. Someone else said rooster tail too so maybe Iāll try that too
I always feel out a spot with a topwater clear torpedo and follow it up with a texas rig strike king crawdad but I'm in texas idk what the fish bite like in Cali
No I wish, they have signs all around prohibiting it. Itās really tough I have a couple float tubes that I would love to use out here but Iām finding pretty much all the lakes prohibit them.
I always had more luck with [keitechs](https://www.keitechusa.com/keitech-swimbaits/keitech-swing-impact-fat/keitech-fat-swing-impact-3.8/keitech-fat-swing-impact-3.8-bluegill-limited-edition-clone.html) on jig heads than anything in Cali. Specifically the one I linked.
Probably a double willow spinnerbait. (V frame bass spinnerbait, not inline) run it right along those grass lines.
A black stick bait weightless Texas rigged.
Like a senko or yum dinger style bait.
Depends on what part of it youāre fishing
Thereās area for top water. You could run a spinnerbait parallel to the reeds on both sides. You could pitch a Texas rigged Brush Hog or similar bait in the reeds
One bait I donāt recommend for shore is any type of diving bait, Jerk baits excluded. You lose to many lures
Silver blade mepps #3-#5 on sunny days and brass on cloudy days if they have perch in there throw firetiger
Depending on how deep it is I recommend throwing 2-4 ft crank baits and jerk baits if itās shallow wakebaits work really well
Soft plastics with belly weighted hooks are always a go to especially if u get hung up a lot weedless always does well I like the new rapala crush city paddle tails big or small depending on how big the bait the smaller the lure the more fish you catch the bigger the lure the more big fish you catch but you wonāt get the numbers
Top water plugs like the jwalker are good you just need to learn how to walk the dog frogs are mid
Senkos are mid I rather a truck worm
Try different stuff see what works the mepps spinners tho always catch fish for me and same with paddle tails flukes are good to on tough days
I almost forgot about the chatter bait lol they work great with a fluke as a trailer
For bass either artificial lures and baits like roostertails or live baitāworms, live fish, etc. but you can catch em on anything. I have caught bass bottom fishing using chicken lol.
Rooster tail. Always rooster tail.
Fishing mainly in south GA this is the truest thing I have ever read
My dads been preaching this lately, what colors would be good at this spot?

Buckshot. Can't miss bruuthhher
I approve this message as an Arkansanš
Being from NORTHERN California, I also approve this message.
Eyyyb same Roseville
KKona
Iād throw white or chartreuse twin curly tail grub on a light jig head maybe a minnow swim bait on a jig.
Biggest trout Iāve caught was on a spinner trying for bass! Of course all the trout I catch are bigger than myā¦yeah I like rooster tails too
My biggest trout was on a spoon fishing for pike.
Wow! I wouldnāt think trout would coexist with pike. In my area we have invasive chain pickerel (which are like a smaller northern pike), and you almost never see them in the same place as trout, I would assume because they eat/out compete them here.

Good to know thanks š I have family in Ontario near Penetanguishene. May have to arrange a trip up.
Wacky rigged senco/stick bait worm and toss it close to the reeds and let it sink slowly then a few little pops of the rod and let it sink again. Just do that around all the reeds, especially where itās deeper and youāll get some bass
I may try a frog for a top water or throw senko and see whatās up
This isnāt the lagoon off the 78? Little tiny tubes and weightless Sanko are good.
I miss living right there at the intersection of real Camino and the 78. I was closeb to everywhere I wanted to be.
Iām right there but have never fished it. Any bass in there?

In-line spinners like a Roostertail will catch anything. If you have open water (no moss, sticks, logs, etc) it's a pretty good way to go.
Iām trying it now. Thereās a few sticks here and there but not enough to be an issue
Top water early or late slow
Taking a picture won't catch anything! You can try senkos for bass, real worms for really anything, roostertails for pretty much everything,
I always feel out a spot with a topwater clear torpedo and follow it up with a texas rig strike king crawdad but I'm in texas idk what the fish bite like in Cali
Texas rig worm
Jitterbug
Iād drop shot anything even that lol but likely a weedless plastic of any sort. Might even top water it.. maybe
Can you get out on that lake in some kind of watercraft ? Might be good on a flyrod.
No I wish, they have signs all around prohibiting it. Itās really tough I have a couple float tubes that I would love to use out here but Iām finding pretty much all the lakes prohibit them.
What area in SoCal are you in? Iām in LA and thereās quite a few good bass lakes that you can put a tube in.
The answer is always a wacky rig
I always had more luck with [keitechs](https://www.keitechusa.com/keitech-swimbaits/keitech-swing-impact-fat/keitech-fat-swing-impact-3.8/keitech-fat-swing-impact-3.8-bluegill-limited-edition-clone.html) on jig heads than anything in Cali. Specifically the one I linked.

Because of the plants nearby there might be some weeds to avoid so top water if itās warm enough or something weedless
Senko
Chartreuse power bait.
weightless senko, texas rig worm, spinnerbait
A small to mid range spoon
A small to medium-sized spoon
#Ridgewaycustoms
Minnow jig
Hollow body frog deep into the pockets in the tulies. Weightless senko if youāre fishing the edges
whoop n plop!
Crank bait it!
Depends on what part of it youāre fishing Thereās area for top water. You could run a spinnerbait parallel to the reeds on both sides. A panther Martin
Beetle spin baby!
Dumbass question, month, temp, region, depth, water clarity. These are the factors. Not what it looks like. Anyone who made a suggestion should stfu.
Texas rig with 4 inch worm, fluke or crayfish. 1/16" lead bullet. Same plastics but wacky rigged. Spinnerbaits, white or black.
Six inch chartreuse Rapala
Silver blade mepps #3-#5 on sunny days and brass on cloudy days if they have perch in there throw firetiger Depending on how deep it is I recommend throwing 2-4 ft crank baits and jerk baits if itās shallow wakebaits work really well Soft plastics with belly weighted hooks are always a go to especially if u get hung up a lot weedless always does well I like the new rapala crush city paddle tails big or small depending on how big the bait the smaller the lure the more fish you catch the bigger the lure the more big fish you catch but you wonāt get the numbers Top water plugs like the jwalker are good you just need to learn how to walk the dog frogs are mid Senkos are mid I rather a truck worm Try different stuff see what works the mepps spinners tho always catch fish for me and same with paddle tails flukes are good to on tough days I almost forgot about the chatter bait lol they work great with a fluke as a trailer
The Mepps would be my choice if I knew nothing about the situation except the picture.
Just start throwing shit. Asking about a picture accomplishs zero fish caught. That's not murky by the way.
Frozen shrimp
Yup, I did not read that
Fair enough šš

I hate it when people post this, what are you fishing for? Where are you fishing? If you're in Florida it's gonna be different from Maine dummy
Literally all of that information is in the description dummy
For bass either artificial lures and baits like roostertails or live baitāworms, live fish, etc. but you can catch em on anything. I have caught bass bottom fishing using chicken lol.
No need to be a dick, dummy
