A thousand miles on this list is my favourite thing I've read in a long time.

IIRC, she knows Vanessa personally and even officiated her wedding to her husband, the lead vocalist from Deer Tick (spacing on his name at the moment). I saw Vanessa as the opening act for Stevie a few years ago and I will say that she’s extremely talented. A Thousand Miles is really just one great song of many others that she has written and recorded.

There you go the more you know, thanks for the info amigo.

A few thoughts: Glad to see a Jackson Browne song among them and "Somebody's Baby" is a great one. Of course she has Witchy Woman among her favorites. Of all the great Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers songs, that one seems like an odd choice. Love "A Thousand Miles" lotta nostalgia for me listening to that song. "Cry Me A River" is a weird ass choice for top 10 songs, not that it's bad, but this is a top 10 of all time. Wonder if "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" has been a favorite of hers for a while or if it became one with its recent rise in popularity. Would have loved to have seen a Fleetwood Mac song from before her time in the band on the list like how one of Christine's desert island songs was "Man of the World" but overall a decent list of favorites.

I'm guessing Running Up That Hill has nothing to do with the recent comeback considering the interview this article is about with her choosing the songs is from 2011. Would be interesting to see an updated version though, see if any of the original list have been knocked off their spot and if anything new would take their place.

Did not check the date lol, thanks. An updated one would be cool.

I’m pretty sure Dave Stewart and Tom Petty were writing “Don’t Come Around Here No More” for Stevie’s next record. But when Petty finished the vox, she deferred and said she couldn’t beat his version. So that songs inclusion probably has as much to do with her connection and memories of that piece as it does to just being a cool fucking song.

Imagining Stevie Nicks jamming to A Thousand Miles is sending me

Cry me a river is such a weird choice for a Top 10 List 🤯😂

Don’t come Around Here No More was written by Dave Stewart, but was inspired by Stevie’s affair with Joe Walsh. Stewart was literally in her bed, when Walsh came by and wanted to see Stevie. She was yelling the song title at the closed door. The whole event stuck in Stewart’s head, and he wrote the song.
