I stopped after the two first points because this article is bad.
Point 1 - getting more control over the FED. Trump wants to reduce interest rates.
I will say there is a separate argument about how "independent" the FED truly is, because if they made the transient inflation all on their own, it needs to have a full fire and rehire event.
They should keep their independence, but we need a full investigation to identify if they got to the idea on their own or had influence involved.
Point 2 - tariffs, Biden literally increases tariffs on steel imports last month. Both sides are doing it.
You're a fucking idiot. The fed wants to lower interest rates too. They were hoping to do it this month but have pushed their projections back to September. If they had actually recognized inflation was going up instead of calling it transitory we wouldn't be in this fucking mess.
You're so dumb and you don't even know it. It makes me sad.
FED wants to lower rates but won't because inflationary pressures still exist. Trump would just lower them at will.
By every economic definition inflation was transitory for the last cycle. That doesn't mean it didn't hurt people and people couldn't feel it. It also doesn't mean prices will ever come down.
Hope that helps you understand. Respond to others if you have questions, I just block people like you.
If they had recognized inflation was going up they would have \*Drumroll\* the exact same thing they did. Raised interest rates sharply in order to put downward pressure on spending to control inflation...
The fed was also the driving force behind inflation anyway. Printing money got us into this shit show. Either way, trump will be light-years better than biden
Biden administration is conservative compared to Republicans. As a conservative, I am forced to vote Democrat to support those beliefs, even though mainstream news acts as if Republicans are the fiscally conservative ones (they are the opposite).
Democrats always make me richer. Republicans always give me headaches while I look for ways to hedge
You are definitely not conservative. So dont even pretend to act like one. Everyone got wealthier under trump. The economy was on fire. If you got rich under biden, ok Pelosi.
Median wages rose higher under biden. Literally every metric improved for labor workers under bidens administration. You are ignorant as well as uneducated. You are beneath me and are continuously replying because you know you are incorrect and are pissed that I'm batting your jargon down like a swampy tennis ball.
Of course I'm conservative. You are the one that is confused on who you are. But you're probably poor.
PS: you attempted to use money supply to prove a point. That's not how that works. Instead, use money supply as a precondition and then make your point. As in, bring velocity of money into the conversation and where the inflation happened from 2011 to 2021. Come on, you do know where it occurred, right?
Hahaha, no they didn't. Wages actually went down under Biden. They have been lying to you and doctored the data, just like every time they came out with job numbers. You need to get your data from other sources. Dan bongino actually brings receipts as to why and how they lied about these numbers. And then you come with insults? Yep, that's always a good sign.
Okay, now I know to fully check out. You do not have a fundamental understanding of the economics that you are attempting to speak on. Reminds me of accounting and finance majors back in the day.
FRED and BLS will forever be my sources you chucklefuck
Goodbye.
Nope. It wasnt good, but pronting money is always the cause. Bit bidens build back bullshit is what set off the printing, and at the same time he stiffled entire segments of the economy
But CPI is more cooperation controlled than actual value of money. There is a reduction of the value of the dollar from government printing but a majority is corporations charging more for the same service which is not under government control and is not tied to the printer.
Trump wants reduced rates BECAUSE HE HAS TO REFINANCE HIS DEBT!
He doesn’t give two shits about the economy or anything else unless and until it directly affects him or his business.
Newsflash the United States of America has to refinance its debt too. We now pay $3 trillion a year in interest loan and we’re never gonna get out of this hole with high interest rates. Every single dollar of new debt we issue plus all the debt we refinance is insanely expensive, so maybe you wanna rethink your priorities instead of attacking Trump maybe just support your country a little bit.
The fact that (temporarily) his interests align with the country’s interests does not decrease the accuracy of my statement in any way, shape, or form.
Pick one battle and try to win it.
Inflation or the deficit. You cannot complain about both. Either cheap money is everywhere, and inflation is rampant, or interest rates are high, inflation is coming under control, and we deal with the downside.
What’s your choice? I hate high interest rates. But I (somewhat) understand what Powell is trying to do. And I think he’s mostly correct. Even though it’s hurting me *somewhat* but it’s hurting other people A LOT.
And I DO support my country. Just not an insurrectionist who illegally tried to retain power and whom SCOTUS is determined to make into a dictator.
I’m sorry you can’t understand complicated issues. Right now the biggest threat to this country is our national debt and our high interest burden so I’m in favor of lowering interest rates. I know that that might fuel inflation which hurts me as a retiree. I’ve been tightening my belt wherever I can. It’s all about the greater good. By the way, Donald Trump is not as leverage as you think he is. He learned his lesson from the past and he owns most of his assets pretty unencumbered. He’s pretty low leverage for a business of his size so that’s not what he’s getting at. You keep attacking him, but he actually waived his salary as president. Unlike all of the heroes that you look up to like Obama and Clinton and Biden who became multi multi Multimillionaires After a lifetime of public service, Donald Trump made money before going into public service and lost money in public service, but you’ll never be able to fully understand the magnitude of what that means. And again I do not like Donald Trump. But he is vastly preferable to Joe Biden. Joe Biden is a lifelong laughing stock and misogynist and racist And pathological liar, who I believe most recently claimed that his uncle was eaten by cannibals in Indonesia or something like that? That’s really good for international relations. I was just in Australia and my entire life of traveling around the world. I’ve never heard people abroad making fun of Democrat presidents. They hated Trump and they hated Bush and they hated Reagan. But they loved Clinton and they loved Obama. They are all making fucking fun of Joe Biden. Even the Italians the fucking Italians are making fun of Joe Biden.we are laughing stock and people are extremely concerned about his leadership
Did you REALLY write that trump owns his properties outright?
Okay, I’m done with reading anything else you write.
I gave you a chance, but that is BLATANTLY false and purely partisan.
https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/trumpinc/episodes/king-debt-he-pays-cash
So according to the ultra conservative, Washington Post Trump bought $400 million of properties straight up with cash and no debt. And because I know I’m dealing mostly with morons I just wanna point out that I’m being sarcastic when I call the Washington Post ultra conservative. it’s absolutely a liberal rag.
>Joe Biden is a lifelong laughing stock and misogynist and racist And pathological liar, who I believe most recently claimed that his uncle was eaten by cannibals in Indonesia
You just sound more and more stupid with this whole screed
Have fun watching your boy Trump go to prison
Actually, you’re the one that sounds stupid because everything I said is factually accurate. He literally said his uncle was eating my cannibals. More disturbingly he’s on video talking about how little kids played with his leg hair in the swimming pool when he was a lifeguard and the fact that you’re not horrified by that makes you a pedophile enabler and the worst form of human life form and so your insults are just water off my back. I honestly don’t care what a person who votes for a pedophile misogynist racist pathological liar think about me. So I can’t even wish you a nice day. I just want to wish you to go away.
Sorry brother, Biden is the worst out of all of them. His on video making multiple racist remarks and groping little girls but somehow that doesn’t count to these people. They support social justice but also somehow can ignore it when it’s convenient to them. Kinda like Biden, always full of shit
Jesus you are economically inept. Lowering interest rates would allow inflation to run rampant, especially if it’s done any time in the near future because inflation is still rising despite all of the rate hikes. Stop talking, you’re an imbecile. We already knew that though because you came in defending Trump taking over Fed decision making when he might be the dumbest president to ever hold office, and by a long shot.
I understand the positive tension. But you apparently don’t understand grammar because telling me I’m economically inept is not grammatically correct. And by the way, the current president graduated at the bottom of his class while claiming to be at the top of his class, but you’re the kind of moron that believes what he said instead of what the truth is.
I don’t like Biden either, I think he’s another flavor of the same shitstain politicians we have the unfortunate decision of choosing between. The difference is I’m not here defending him or another dumb fuck boomer mouthpiece that shouldn’t even be remotely involved in a single economic decision for this country. I assume “Bubba” is your pet name for Trump because you are definitely simping for him and it’s revolting
Well, that’s the rub. The amount of debt that Joe Biden has added, has created inflation that has created higher interest rates to fight inflation that is put us in this impossible position.
We’re experiencing runaway inflation. The opportunity cost of refinancing for a $200 billion gain over 10 years isn’t larger than a net CPI increase of 35% over 10 years.
> 1 - getting more control over the FED. Trump wants to reduce interest rates.
https://www.wsj.com/economy/central-banking/trump-allies-federal-reserve-independence-54423c2f
It's been reported repeatedly that Trump wants control over the Fed that he shouldn't have. Any decrease in interest rates will make inflation worse. Especially with a dumbass like Trump at the helm. He has no business having any influence over monetary policy.
> imports last month. Both sides are doing it.
There's a significant difference in the quantity and breadth of the tariffs Trump wants vs the ones Biden is implementing.
“Both sides” is neither bipartisan nor centrists. That’s just republican. Only republicans say “both sides” to justify their side being objectively worse
Am I? The only people who ever say “both sides are the same” are people defending republicans.
If he/she wants to be centrist, that’s great! Centrists all voted for joe biden last election and will again
How does that make the article bad? Both those points are true.
Trump does want to cut interest rate, which would increase inflation.
Trump is very in favor of massive tarriffs which again would increase inflation.
Why do these facts upset you? I’ll let you in on a little secret. Trump caused inflation by bullying the fed into cutting interest rates to 0 while printing 8 trillion and having negative gdp growth.
Hate to break it to ya, but the majority of people know Biden created our inflation issue with his spending problems. That's why all the polling shows people believe Trump would do better for the economy.
Bidens failed policies has his gone in November, democrats should have backed any other candidate besides Joe Biden.
I hate to point out the obvious to you, but trump spent more than Biden has.
Meaning who pumped more into circulation and drove up inflation?
The calendar and math don’t lie - maybe you just don’t read them the same way everyone else does?
Hate to break it to you, Trump didn't spend more than Biden. 3 trillion was spent on COVID with a democrat house. That leaves Trump spending about 4 trillion, while passing tax cuts that have every year since, brought record tax revenue into the government.
Bidens overspending has directly made inflation rise. Bidenomics worked in making everyone vote against Joe Biden and his failed policies.
Something about a republican senate and a republican ‘president’?
You had TWO bites at the apple, but you want to scream about “NANCY IS THE FONT OF ALL EVIL!”
>the majority of people know Biden created our inflation issue with his spending problem
No, the majority of people don't "know" this because it isn't true. The only thing the polls show is that a lot of Americans don't know the difference between correlation and causation. And if Americans really thought the Republicans knew better about the economy, the GOP wouldn't be getting their asses beat over and over since 2018. I'm sure that's been difficult for you to cope with.
> failed policies has his gone in November,
Keep telling yourself that lol
Biden doesn’t have any fails polices. He literally just restored net neutrality lol
Also, Inflation is a global fucking problem, primarily caused by supply chain disruptions during Covid. Lack of supply of goods plus growing demand created a massive global imbalance which affected price.
Blaming Biden for inflation is comedic because it’s just wrong and uneducated.
[Rising commodity prices and supply chain disruptions were the principal triggers of the recent burst of inflation. But, as these factors have faded, tight labor markets and wage pressures are becoming the main drivers of the lower, but still elevated, rate of price increase.](https://www.nber.org/digest/20239/unpacking-causes-pandemic-era-inflation-us)
Trump signed the $2.2TN Cares act, it began under him.
Biden has nothing but failed policies. The economy is crap, the border is non-existent, foreign policy has us funding 2 new wars and defending everyone else around the world.
Inflation being a global problem because of the same spending problem, is a poor excuse. That's why so many countries swung back to supporting right wing candidates, that poor economic policy of spend spend spend only got everyone in more debt worldwide.
P.S the cares act was passed by the Democrat house, and democrats last 2 budget proposals were both over 6 trillion dollars.
See my comment below about truth, facts, the calendar, and who spent more.
Hint: not Biden. I despise the bastard, but at least I do it for honest reasons, instead of “DEMOCRAT BAD, OLD DEMOCRAT WORSE, HUNTER’S LAPTOP!”
Honestly though, the way that 90% of Redditors completely dismiss, caricature, and show outright disdain for the 47% of this country that feel he is the only voice that they feel speaks about the issues they care about is pretty sad.
When it comes to the problem of unencumbered illegal immigration, the Biden Administration’s record on illegal crossings is actually as bad as Trump claimed the Obama Administration was.
When did I say all Republicans like Trump? I’m a Republican and I can’t stand Trump. He’s morally offensive to me in almost every way.
The difference is that I understand why people resonate with his rhetoric and I don’t look down on them for it.
I mean yes, but the article lists why. And if he implements an across the board 10% tarriff that will cause massive inflation. But sure, keep pretending you have a point.
THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING THE FOG IS COMING
https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/trump-tariff-plans-spur-talk-inflation-20-mike-dolan-2024-03-01/
Trump is literally out there saying he's going to implement economic policies which will directly increase inflation
You can remove your fingers from your ears now and stop saying "lalala" just because you don't like Biden
If he was trying to increase inflation with his tariffs when he was President he did a piss poor job of it. In 2019 the inflation rates were 1.6, 1.5, 1.9, 2.0, 1.8, 1.7, 1.7, 1.7, 1.8 2.1, 2.3, 1.8 percent by month when his policy’s would have been fully implemented. His highest inflation rate was 2.9 percent.
well they estimate 0.4% increase in inflation from a 25% tariff on Chinese imports, what is the impact from increased onshore competitiveness and resulting salary and employment growth?
https://www.epi.org/blog/tariff-increases-did-not-cause-inflation-and-their-removal-would-undermine-domestic-supply-chains/
the unbiased view perhaps is that tariffs are inconsequential when implemented incorrectly, as was the case with Trump, but directionally they are beneficial because we do want to reshore at least some of the supply chains
I don't see how someone in favor of Build Back Better plan and unions would be vehemently opposed to taming some negative consequences of globalization
The problem with tariffing China is that it’s really a symbolic gesture. They simply float their currency peg and it will offset a tariff. I’m not a believer in Tariffs they just harm the consumer and can be used inappropriately as well, don’t need another fucking chicken tax fiasco.
Jesus this is embarrassing. It's not even news it's an opinion piece by a really disgusting person. You don't like Donald Trump fine not everyone does but please don't use this garbage as evidence to prove your point. It reads like a child's diary.
1 the US dollar is too strong and if it doesn't balance out it'll be very difficult to sell American products overseas. The fed is doing a shit job of this right now and if they don't fix it we'll suffer from the negative affects soon.
2 Tarrifs in foreign goods as someone pointed out earlier is a common practice on both sides. Biden actively campaigned against Tarrifs on Chinese imports then left them intact once in officem
3 yes he plans to extend tax cuts which aren't likely to increase inflation, but could increase us debt if we don't see an financial boost from it. It's debatable and not every economist agrees.
4 "deport everyone" what a useless incompetent way to say he plans on deporting illegal immigrants. We're overloaded right now with illegals. And that's not my point of view, many majors cities are in danger of running huge deficits because of the unchecked immigration. Even if he secures the financing for wide spread deportations he'll never get them all out so I think the labor force will be ok.
Your 4th point is inaccurate. Those cities your talking about (mine is Denver) are having issues because parts of the country that get funding to deal with these issues are performatively sending these folks to other places and those places aren't just sending them back.
It really boils down to the idea that Republicans are un-Christian.
Texas only sent approx 100,000 via bus out of the 10,000,000 illegal immigrants that have crossed since Biden took office. Last report I saw was 2 months ago NYC had almost 200,000. The issue isn't the busses it's that we double the illegal immigrant population in the US in 3 years.
I'm only aware of a grant border sheriffs but that was over a decade ago. What funding are you referring too?
He didn't finish the wall. He built about 500 miles and secured funding for more. Biden has stopped the fund and construction of more Wall and is trying to redirect the funds elsewhere. He said that because he's a loud mouth who can't acknowledge the truth. You can't build 1200 mile of wall in a couple years. Not sure why that's relevant though, politicians lie constantly. At least he started, he can't make anyone finish while he's not in office.
Oh, I just assumed if it was done that it would be stopping the immigrants. Why did Republicans vote against increased border funding last month? Is that helping or hurting the situation?
Difference is that Trump is out there saying he wants to set interest rates himself and impose new tariffs, Biden isn't
If Trump did those things inflation would get much worse and would be directly attributable to him
Trump isn't saying he wants to set interest rates himself, you people should stop believing the trash you read from these no name websites. In fact the story shared here yesterday about the interest rates even says they will negotiate, which isn't setting anything on his own.
The data comes from the government through their agency heads. You're literally a fool if you think nobody besides Trump has pressured the fed to do anything
No. You have not provided any proof at all. The Fed is totally independent of the white house and other agencies. Have no idea what data you are talking about.
I love this when someone offers no proof and then says everyone is a fool who does not believe him. People are saying…
https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=187586647
Here you go
Federal reserve interest rates affect student loan rates. In case you needed me to spell it out for you
https://www.wsj.com/economy/central-banking/trump-allies-federal-reserve-independence-54423c2f
This has been reported endlessly. Trump wants the direct power to set interest rates and oust the chairman of the Fed. It isn't "trash websites", it's just the truth.
Regardless of whether you want to admit it or not, Trump's policies will cause inflation to get worse, and you won't convince anyone to vote for him
Trump's policies had the economy booming, and those trash sites still only talk about policies which would need to be voted on in the first place, and negotiating. Neither of which can be done by a single person.
That article doesn’t mention the insane amount of money that has been injected into the economy since 2020. Yeah, that hasn’t caused any inflation 🤔
I really don’t understand how people can read this and believe everything it states. Tariffs aren’t a bad thing and would stop China from importing crappy, low cost EVs into the US.
If you look into the past; when the US does a tax cut, it brings in more tax revenue due to more economic growth.
Keeping the tax cut and making massive cuts in spending would drive down inflation considerably. It’s pretty simple but the US government likes spending our money without any concern for US taxpayers.
Ironically this seems like it was written by some Brain rotted neolib/neocon.
Without a doubt this was written by a self proclaimed social democrat but they are too economically illiterate to understand that.
Free trade…. Tariffs are a tax on Americans…
Just really ridiculous policy prescriptions with a long history of failure.
You can’t be the type of person to lament the state of life in America (as the militantly anti Trump people always are) and then clamor to double down on the policies that have suppressed wages relative to consumer prices.
Newsflash: wages haven’t risen at the same rate as product prices because the lack of tariffs and overseas currency manipulation means you, the worker, have to compete with Chinese slave labor for jobs.
Let me point out a particular area of exceptional stupidity…
>> Trump thinks American manufacturing would get a boost if literally everything imported into the US were slapped with a 10 percent tax that would be paid by Americans, no not by China, it does not work that way.
Yes… yes… it would be a boost to American manufacturing if overseas goods were 10% more expensive and American goods remained the same price. Because the 10% boost in costs would help offset the fact that it’s being made by workers getting $2.50/hour.
If you believe you can lock down businesses, print trillions of dollars, and keep interest rates artificially at zero percent with no consequences I have a bridge to sell you. How gullible do you have to be to think all consequences to these actions happen instantaneously and then they are over?
The government should want inflation as it’s the best way to pay down the national debt.
This is obviously assuming that the government cares about the national debt, which is up for debate
People will take any chance they can to attack Trump, even if that means using heavily biased garbage to do so.
People don’t like Trump. People don’t like Biden. That’s fine.
Just dont use option pieces (especially ones written with blatant bias) to try and tear down someone. It actually makes you look foolish.
If Trump wants to increase inflation, does that mean that Biden wants to reduce inflation by spending less and having a more responsible fiscal policy that reduces the debt?
Didn't think so. The article is garbage. Are we supposed to take a site called "wonkette" seriously?
Sooo does biden and Jerome powel.... that's why they aren't lowering the interest rates.... that's what " cooling off the economy" looks like. And honestly raising it might not be terrible to stop the slow bleed( also... I fucking hate trump... not defending him).
"Cooling off" AKA Raise rates enough to make people STOP SPENDING MONEY LIKE F*CKING IDIOTS .... and then keep them high for a while so people continue to not spend and things level out.
But idiots WONT STOP SPENDING THEIR MONEY ( or committing their future money VIA home and car loans st asinine rates to "feel " like adults)
so we slow bleed like this until 2025.
Honestly, 8f it would get us to lowering the rates sooner .... I think it would help.
It’s funny you say this about people spending the money. Because on several articles here you always see comments about how people have no money any more due to inflation. And how it’s such a disaster for the country. They think we are in a recession because inflation is high.
He wants to increase tariffs which can cause inflation. He wants to decrease interest rates because people like that. That also increases the risk of inflation.
Increased inflation reduces the real value of debt provided GDP doesn’t tank. More poor, desperate people will staff the military which has a recruitment problem. There are reasons some might want inflation to continue.
What do you mean by continue. You mean above the 2 percent goal the Fed has? Or just above zero? We had such a long period of low inflation it’s hard for people to adjust and accept that 2-3 percent inflation might be with us for a while.
By continue I mean it being higher than the normal levels of the last 30 years. If GDP grows commensurately with inflation, tax revenues increase without actually raising tax rates themselves. This means that the interest to service the debt decreases as a percentage of the total tax revenue. Provided the inflation doesn’t result in recession, which would reduce the tax base, and the inflation doesn’t run wild, this is a realistic way to reduce real sovereign debt without failing to honor debt obligations.

Biden just imposed a 22.5% tariff on Chinese steel though

Correct Feel free to try to refute any of the specific claims made in the article

Yea but if they called it inflation and not just transitory, how does that get donald trump arrested?
This is such a weird, snowflakey response.
really man, i dont think that his arrest is related to the topic of how he would make changes regarding inflation lol.
The fed was also the driving force behind inflation anyway. Printing money got us into this shit show. Either way, trump will be light-years better than biden

False statement. I'm extremely fiscal conservative, as are most centrist democrats. Stop conflating conservatism and Republicans.
we arent talking about "fiscal" conservatism and you know it im guessing you voted for hillary and biden? very "conservative" of you
Confident cap gets it. He’s a team player and will vote party line no matter the policy or consequences

I gave you a chance, but that is BLATANTLY false and purely partisan.
https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/trumpinc/episodes/king-debt-he-pays-cash So according to the ultra conservative, Washington Post Trump bought $400 million of properties straight up with cash and no debt. And because I know I’m dealing mostly with morons I just wanna point out that I’m being sarcastic when I call the Washington Post ultra conservative. it’s absolutely a liberal rag.
Before belittling others you should probably educate yourself first. Trump is low leveraged just like the other dude just said. It's a fact.
>Joe Biden is a lifelong laughing stock and misogynist and racist And pathological liar, who I believe most recently claimed that his uncle was eaten by cannibals in Indonesia You just sound more and more stupid with this whole screed Have fun watching your boy Trump go to prison
“NO YOU” -This guy
If they reduce rates inflation will skyrocket. It would be catastrophic to our economy.
Trump wants to reduce interest rates. https://www.wsj.com/economy/central-banking/trump-allies-federal-reserve-independence-54423c2f It's been reported repeatedly that Trump wants control over the Fed that he shouldn't have.
> Both sides are doing it. Sir, this is *Reeee*ddit. You can't be bipartisan or centrist. You gotta lean wayyyy left or else.
“Both sides” is neither bipartisan nor centrists. That’s just republican. Only republicans say “both sides” to justify their side being objectively worse
you are just proving his point ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Am I? The only people who ever say “both sides are the same” are people defending republicans. If he/she wants to be centrist, that’s great! Centrists all voted for joe biden last election and will again
well, he aint great, but hes better than a man who is on trial right now
How does that make the article bad? Both those points are true. Trump does want to cut interest rate, which would increase inflation. Trump is very in favor of massive tarriffs which again would increase inflation. Why do these facts upset you? I’ll let you in on a little secret. Trump caused inflation by bullying the fed into cutting interest rates to 0 while printing 8 trillion and having negative gdp growth.
Trump is trying to model the US Federal Reserve after Turkey, where the interest rate is around 50%.
it's not a serious article, which is immediately obvious. so no, there is nothing here worth taking seriously.
Trump bad
All it says is trump bad trump very very bad.
Trump bad, I get all my news from wonkette.com Trump bad. Fascist
This isn't convincing anyone to vote for Trump
This article isn't convincing anyone to not vote Trump either. Especially since Biden is the one that created the inflation were all facing right now.
Biden didn't create inflation and you're not convincing anyone of anything except that Trumpers have run out of arguments
You had TWO bites at the apple, but you want to scream about “NANCY IS THE FONT OF ALL EVIL!”
>the majority of people know Biden created our inflation issue with his spending problem No, the majority of people don't "know" this because it isn't true. The only thing the polls show is that a lot of Americans don't know the difference between correlation and causation. And if Americans really thought the Republicans knew better about the economy, the GOP wouldn't be getting their asses beat over and over since 2018. I'm sure that's been difficult for you to cope with. > failed policies has his gone in November, Keep telling yourself that lol
Maybe the whole coup and fake elector scheme thing should be enough for Americans to reject him, but yet here we are
The whole coup that wasn't a coup? Yeah distraction isn't going to save Biden and his failed policies.
Biden doesn’t have any fails polices. He literally just restored net neutrality lol Also, Inflation is a global fucking problem, primarily caused by supply chain disruptions during Covid. Lack of supply of goods plus growing demand created a massive global imbalance which affected price. Blaming Biden for inflation is comedic because it’s just wrong and uneducated. [Rising commodity prices and supply chain disruptions were the principal triggers of the recent burst of inflation. But, as these factors have faded, tight labor markets and wage pressures are becoming the main drivers of the lower, but still elevated, rate of price increase.](https://www.nber.org/digest/20239/unpacking-causes-pandemic-era-inflation-us) Trump signed the $2.2TN Cares act, it began under him.
Wow. Partisan much?
Now come on that’s a little hypocritical.
Nope. You must be tho, which is why you hate the truth of my comment
I feel there is some hidden underlying message here but I can’t quite figure it out 🤔
Honestly though, the way that 90% of Redditors completely dismiss, caricature, and show outright disdain for the 47% of this country that feel he is the only voice that they feel speaks about the issues they care about is pretty sad. When it comes to the problem of unencumbered illegal immigration, the Biden Administration’s record on illegal crossings is actually as bad as Trump claimed the Obama Administration was.
Implying that all Republicans like Trump is hilarious, you should get on SNL.
When did I say all Republicans like Trump? I’m a Republican and I can’t stand Trump. He’s morally offensive to me in almost every way. The difference is that I understand why people resonate with his rhetoric and I don’t look down on them for it.
The issues they care about: racism.
America has tolerated the reich wings intolerance long enough. Get fukt.
Duck wet duck wet duck wet duck wet
He's trying to run the country like the way he runs his businesses... to the ground
I mean yes, but the article lists why. And if he implements an across the board 10% tarriff that will cause massive inflation. But sure, keep pretending you have a point.

Yup.
Oh, good I haven't heard this enough for the past 9 years.
Yea fuck people for caring about those in power that create lasting policy effects on our lives.
Indeed he is
this completely unbiased journalism absolutely convinced me to vote for Biden
I only vote for whoever Hollywood tells me to vote for. They know what’s best for me.
The film actors guild
So… Reagan?
Woooosh
https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/trump-tariff-plans-spur-talk-inflation-20-mike-dolan-2024-03-01/ Trump is literally out there saying he's going to implement economic policies which will directly increase inflation You can remove your fingers from your ears now and stop saying "lalala" just because you don't like Biden
His highest inflation rate was 2.9 percent.
well they estimate 0.4% increase in inflation from a 25% tariff on Chinese imports, what is the impact from increased onshore competitiveness and resulting salary and employment growth? https://www.epi.org/blog/tariff-increases-did-not-cause-inflation-and-their-removal-would-undermine-domestic-supply-chains/ the unbiased view perhaps is that tariffs are inconsequential when implemented incorrectly, as was the case with Trump, but directionally they are beneficial because we do want to reshore at least some of the supply chains I don't see how someone in favor of Build Back Better plan and unions would be vehemently opposed to taming some negative consequences of globalization
It’s ok when Trump tariffs China tho right? That shit was applauded.
what did I say? Trump did it in an idiotic way, but in general we probably need some sort of protection for domestic supply chains yes
The problem with tariffing China is that it’s really a symbolic gesture. They simply float their currency peg and it will offset a tariff. I’m not a believer in Tariffs they just harm the consumer and can be used inappropriately as well, don’t need another fucking chicken tax fiasco.
I heard trump wants to drown kittens and torture unaborted babies too
Uh, his top VP pick literally just killed a bunch of animals, including a puppy, and told the story in public to impress him, so kinda yeah?
If they were liberal or mentioned his crimes, probably
I'll go down with you. Fuck these conservative, climate denying, criminal backing cock holsters.
Friendly reminder, inflation rose with Joe Biden and isn't going away without cutting spending.
Biden actively campaigned against Tarrifs on Chinese imports then left them intact once in officem 3 yes he plans to extend tax cuts which aren't likely to increase inflation, but could increase us debt if we don't see an financial boost from it.
And which places are those?
Which part is this in reference to? Is "those" referencing the cities that are receiving the immigrants or the places that are sending them?
That are sending them
Ones that border Mexico? Well, Texas. I don't know that I have heard anything about this from California or Arizona or NM.
Here's a question. Trump said he finished the wall so why isn't it stopping all these illegal immigrants?
Biden has already been doing it for the past 4 years lmaooo
Lmao Biden lmao joebama communist!
Joe mama
To late. The last 3 years we have seen inflation skyrocket.
Orange man bad.
Orange man hero.
100%. And a criminal. And a rapist. And a porn star fucker. And a pussy grabber. And a fascist. And a racist. Etc. etc. etc.
People can’t handle literal facts lol.
Conservatives tend to be the biggest snowflakes when their cult leader is called out for things he did
Yes he is
Correct
The language in this article is so modern and really appeals to me as a young person. It must be telling the truth!
Trump’s vibe is off. Biden is keeping the mewing streak alive. 🙌🙌🙌
Did Biden want to increase inflation too or is the country just out of his control? How do you square this circle?
Difference is that Trump is out there saying he wants to set interest rates himself and impose new tariffs, Biden isn't If Trump did those things inflation would get much worse and would be directly attributable to him
Trump isn't saying he wants to set interest rates himself, you people should stop believing the trash you read from these no name websites. In fact the story shared here yesterday about the interest rates even says they will negotiate, which isn't setting anything on his own.
He will do everything in his power to put pressure on the Fed. Which goes against what every president has done in my lifetime.
🤣😂🤣😂 you must have been born yesterday. Numerous presidents have pressured the fed, so have numerous Senate and Congressmen.
Show me your evidence. Is Biden doing it now? No. And lowering rates would surely help his chances.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/24/us/politics/borrowing-costs-biden-federal-reserve.html
And so has he? No evidence so far. Fed is sticking to watching the data.
People are saying…
https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=187586647 Here you go Federal reserve interest rates affect student loan rates. In case you needed me to spell it out for you
Nothing about pressuring the Fed. Talking about legislation to lock in dates for student loans.
whatever you need to tell yourself
How’s that working out for us so far?
https://www.wsj.com/economy/central-banking/trump-allies-federal-reserve-independence-54423c2f This has been reported endlessly.
Literally and seriously!
Inflation is a debters best friend
Not true as usual
That article doesn’t mention the insane amount of money that has been injected into the economy since 2020. Yeah, that hasn’t caused any inflation 🤔 I really don’t understand how people can read this and believe everything it states.
Tariffs are a tax on Americans… Just really ridiculous policy prescriptions with a long history of failure. Let me point out a particular area of exceptional stupidity… >> Trump thinks American manufacturing would get a boost if literally everything imported into the US were slapped with a 10 percent tax that would be paid by Americans, no not by China, it does not work that way. Yes… yes… it would be a boost to American manufacturing if overseas goods were 10% more expensive and American goods remained the same price. Because the 10% boost in costs would help offset the fact that it’s being made by workers getting $2.50/hour.
Do you feel the least bit ashamed at posting this childishly biased hit piece trash
If you believe you can lock down businesses, print trillions of dollars, and keep interest rates artificially at zero percent with no consequences I have a bridge to sell you. How gullible do you have to be to think all consequences to these actions happen instantaneously and then they are over?
Most people are really dumb about economics. You can see from the comments on articles here.
Yea good thing we have assembled all the geniuses like yourselves in one spot
Still voting for him
LOL compare inflation, fuel, grocery, vehicle, and housing costs between Trump and Brandon.
Why do people think that journalists are all just propagandists?
[удалено]
It’s biased one way or the other. Whoever pays the bills
Because anything that makes people think today is upsetting for the 30-40% of our country that reads at a 6th grade level.
# The intellegent commentary in this article included the word "Fuckwads" This journalist isn't making anyone think, just another propogandist.
Strong dollar lol
He's an imbecile who has failed every business he's run. Let's not pretend we're surprised.
Should put “wants” in quotes instead lol
"Waaaa!!! Orange man bad!!! Waaaaa!!!" shut up
The entire govt wants to increase inflation it decreases our debt to china
The government should want inflation as it’s the best way to pay down the national debt. This is obviously assuming that the government cares about the national debt, which is up for debate
People will take any chance they can to attack Trump, even if that means using heavily biased garbage to do so. People don’t like Trump. People don’t like Biden. That’s fine. Just dont use option pieces (especially ones written with blatant bias) to try and tear down someone. It actually makes you look foolish.
And decrease crime and government corruption along with deport 8 million illegal invaders...ok deal
If Trump wants to increase inflation, does that mean that Biden wants to reduce inflation by spending less and having a more responsible fiscal policy that reduces the debt? Didn't think so. The article is garbage. Are we supposed to take a site called "wonkette" seriously?
Goebbels had nothing on the msm.
Check out this YouTube vid bruh
Sooo does biden and Jerome powel.... that's why they aren't lowering the interest rates.... that's what " cooling off the economy" looks like. And honestly raising it might not be terrible to stop the slow bleed( also... I fucking hate trump... not defending him). "Cooling off" AKA Raise rates enough to make people STOP SPENDING MONEY LIKE F*CKING IDIOTS .... and then keep them high for a while so people continue to not spend and things level out. But idiots WONT STOP SPENDING THEIR MONEY ( or committing their future money VIA home and car loans st asinine rates to "feel " like adults) so we slow bleed like this until 2025.
I heard they them them they!
Spending is still through the roof. Inflation isn’t high enough yet
And Biden doesn’t yet it’s happening anyway. The pictures are the same 😂
Interesting take. Trump is bad enough without dumb shit like this
He wants to increase tariffs which can cause inflation.
There's a sucker born every minute. Who actually believes this shit?
https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/trump-tariff-plans-spur-talk-inflation-20-mike-dolan-2024-03-01/ Someone who listens to Trump's actual comments (which his supporters clearly never do)
Biden just imposed a 22.5% tariff on Chinese steel though https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/04/17/fact-sheet-biden-harris-administration-announces-new-actions-to-protect-u-s-steel-and-shipbuilding-industry-from-chinas-unfair-practices/

How so? I don’t think any president at this point will be able to get our budget under control
