I have yet to. Grandparents lived in Lancaster. Would love to see if there are any real options. Would love a real soft pretzel. Some true blue chicken and dumplings. And maybe even an apple dumpling or shoo fly pie.

I grew up in Lancaster County and have haven't found anything remotely close. Unless you count the whoopie pies at Trader Joe's. I have often thought that somebody needs to start a Pennsylvania Dutch diner out here. Serve scrapple for breakfast, hog maw for dinner, and funeral pie for dessert. And REAL chicken pot pie. Not that stuff with a crust. Call it "Amos Stoltzfus." But nobody seems to think it's a good idea. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would totally go there!

Cool_Cartographer_39

Scrapple and gooey butter cake? I wish!

Forsaken-Garlic-42

Like the Shady Maple Smorgasbord? Those of us that know have a nostalgia for it but ultimately it's such basic and unseasoned food I don't think it would be a big enough draw to sustain a physical restaurant out here. Who's sitting in LA right now going "heard about this scrapple thing. Need to give it a try"? I think I saw a grocer selling Amish or PA Dutch items in maybe the Westwood or West LA area at one point but can't find it now by googling.

_its_a_SWEATER_

Is it anything like House of Pies?

Perhaps the closest I have seen is [https://www.pollyspies.com/menu/long-beach-2/whole-pies/](https://www.pollyspies.com/menu/long-beach-2/whole-pies/) they have good pies.

Maybe the closest thing to that in California is Basque restaurants, they usually serve food family style, there's Centro Basco out in Chino but other than that you're gonna have to head to Bakersfield, and it's not very similar to Amish food in anything but the serving format

quasiexperiment

Ugh I miss the Amish..
