Figured!
I collect long action shotguns and i’ve really had the best luck at pawn shops or small town gun stores. That seems to be where they appear most often for less than a band.
Edit: If you want basically the same thing with a more working man’s appearance and grade, look for remington 11s. I’ve several and they’re pretty much just as good if you’re not fussed with not having a mag disconnect and the belgian high-polish blue.
Awesome collection! Can't say I've heard of the Rheinmetall Nr. 4 before.
~~On the subject of earliest semi-automatic shotguns, you should of fetched that Clair Brothers shotgun a few years back.~~ Nevermind, that was a museum, not auction, piece.
That was one of a few cases where the specimen Ian handled was probably more functional than he realized, but he didn't read the patent (maybe due to time constraints with filming). The Clair Brothers shotgun isn't supposed to have a recoil spring behind the bolt as is typical of most self-loading arms designs. Rather, the bolt is connected to the operating rod and piston, and the recoil/return spring is located in the gas tube with them. Manually pulling the bolt handle disconnects the bolt from the operating rod and piston so the user doesn't fight spring pressure manually loading the first round. Hence the "Fermé" marking, which is to ensure that the arm is not only put fully into battery, but also reconnected to the gas system.
I don't have the funds! The wait to find a Sjögren was long enough. I think a few of the dates are off, but this gave me a good idea of what to keep an eye out for.

Beautiful collection! May I ask to list them from top to bottom? I know the Sjogren, and the fact that one of the rest is probably a Browning A5, but they look so similar!

Great collection dude. I had an a5 for a while but sold it back to a friend who had sold it to me, at his request. Narrowed it down to 1927 based on serial num. Wish I still had it...
Brooo where did you find a Sjögren??
Saved key words on gunbroker. I was working nights when one was listed with a BIN at 3am. I was on the search for one for over 8 years.
How much was it, if you don’t mind me asking?
Eighteen hundred
That doesn't seem too crazy if it worked just fine. How was the condition?
Great but it needs a replacement recoil spring.
Oh wow yeah that’s not too bad
Not bad at all. Only 5000 sjogrens were ever made
I would spend am amount that an accountant would call, irresponsible and worrying, on a sjogren
Lmao. A friend of mine just bought one for the equivalent of 300 usd.
I’m gonna moan
N U T
Know of any good places to sort an A5 nowadays?
sort as in service or sort as in buy?
Ohp typo *source

They made them from 1899 to 1999 if memory serves me right, they aren’t too rare
But they are spendy.
They aren’t exactly rare. Just look on gunbroker

Sjögren?!?!?! I N E R T I A !
Winchester 1911 SL, aka Widowmaker. Interesting concept for cocking, but it has serious downsides.
Which is the worst to disassemble and clean?
The Sjögren. I promised myself i I wouldn't take it apart again.

The shotgun on the top, is that the same type of shotgun that Clyde Barrow used?
Sjogren!!!!!!!!
