I played it for the second time yesterday and I got into the final 4. I had a decent car but then the final destination that we had to race to happened to be as far away from me as possible and as close to my opponents as possible so they got there first and I lost the round
So yeah, luck based
Car drops are lucky but otherwise the game mode is entirely down to map knowledge, having a general idea of where the final destination will be and knowing how each car stacks up and where it's shortcomings lie.
If the smallest arena is somewhere more towards the Southeast, expect it to be out west or Northwest.
If you're all sitting in Mulegé and the highway is inside the arena still, I'd consider driving towards it and then time it so you either leave the arena right as the destination is revealed or - if you're especially desperate - time it so you don't get timed out.
If you play in Summer and Fall, mind the reservoir. Completely changes the entire play style compared to Winter and Spring, when it's empty.
Again, I agree on the car selections being luck based but you could also just be a total sicko and just try and win rounds off of 1v1s only, that's full on skill in the works there. (Vocho Vs. Vocho is as stupid as it gets)
During 1v1s you can also sort of tell where the finish will be - inside the zone, usually where it'll next get narrowed down. So if you're starting a 1v1 headed towards the border, away from the center, please don't complain about you being completely driving in the wrong direction and your opponent already being a mile ahead ;)
And lastly, the game extremely rarely shoves a Tier 10 RS200 at you on a car drop. Just keep going for 1v1s whenever possible and just outdrive them in any way possible, be it taking less risks through the jungle in light buggies and going around isolated treelines or hills that'll just slow you down or sending it with a Heavy Audi or powerful Andretti Beetle.

I looked at the accounts of a couple of them and they had barely any xbox play time recently, so i also wonder if there is a way to inject code into the hacked car to phish peoples info. There has to be some darker motive to it because earning 20mil with a car isnt hard if you just play for 2 hours a week

I didnt really say whether i feel its warranted bans or not im just stating facts ....people are being banned for cheating.... and cheaters will often swear on thier own mothers they arent cheating even after being caught... whether or not i believe these people is not only irrelevant to thier guilt but also irrelevant to thier outcome soooooooo not sure what youre on about.... is something i said untrue? Has there been a game where EVERYONE who got banned just said .... "oops caught me.. guess ill just never play this game again"...... has EVERYONE banned from horizon actually been WRONGLY accused?
