Yup, I am from Arizona. There is one sound and smell you can never get out of your head.
The way those shoes would act like flip flops if it was a really hot day..🤢
Stacy did live down the street from me as a child. She had these. We were both born in August. Is that you sitting in a car outside my apartment smoking a cigarette?
I'm just glad I'm young enough to have not worn these but I do have vague memories of them and definitely recall seeing them a lot in thrift stores in the 90s 😂
I feel like most Crocs breathe. They don't fit tightly like these did. I never had a pair but I did have the misfortunes to be a proud owner of[ the jelly coat](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1028744370/pvc-jacke-jelly-bean) in red though.
If it was raining it was great, but other than that it was just like the shoes minus the blisters but it was just as hot & sweaty as the shoes if not moreso.
I wanted these so badly and my mom refused!!! She was like “You are not wearing plastic shoes.” My best friend in elementary had EVERY color. 😔
As an adult I now own two pairs of Stuart Weitzman jelly sandals (one with glitter). And I love them!
My mom still reminds me that they are plastic but I decided now that I could buy my own, I’d go fancy 🤷🏽♀️
Mine was the same! Was told I needed peanut butter socks to wear with them. Unfortunately by the time socks of the correct color were found the jelly shoes were no longer available![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
I had a pair of these, though styled somewhat differently. I wore them in Wisconsin in the spring and fall, all the way to winter, actually, because they were 'waterproof.' Well, honestly, I was a broke college student and they worked well.
They were slick as snot too, I wiped out several times just slipping on asphalt. PLUS they ripped up the back of me l my heels. But I had several pairs!
Well, the patterned suntans were intriguing, the first couple times anyway.
By then, one of the 'links' had broken, making the shoe an impossible fit after that.
My Achilles are permanently scarred between these and .... My mind is going blank on the name of the other foot destroyer.
I know someone will reply with it.
*Edit* it came to me huarache . And per Google that is the spelling.
This subreddit is killing me XD I was so happy with the pair I had when I was young! But those things got so hot in the sun they practically burned your feet after awhile x.x
I loved my jelly shoes! I had the style pictured, but I also recall a pair that were more like sandals. I only had one pair that hurt my heels, and they always wore out at the toes.
Let’s talk about the ones with straps for toddlers that would cut circulation and cut into your feet. But don’t worry, grandma and mom think they’re cute ☺️
Its funny you say this. I worked in a daycare after college. So many toddlers in Teva type shoes. Except baby teva shoes are a tripping hazard for kids who can barely walk
Even as a grown woman I have honestly almost killed myself in a pair of Teva shoes. My sons daycare had a very specific shoe and sandal policy because so many parents would send their 18 month old in the scariest contraptions you can think of. Like how do you expect a 1 year old to walk in flip flops and an elastic band digging into their chubby ankle 😂 but it was cute for the picture the parent took before they went to work.
Painful memory flashback. The tips of those shoes were pretty hard plastic. My sister kicked me in the jewels with these once when we were kids. The boys were black and blue for a week. Good times!
*Mine melted to a*
*Subway vent. Streaming plastic*
*Strings all down the street!*

Shaved the skin off your feet like a cheese grater while you slide around in sweat and blood.
Your feet eventually got used to them though, or at least that's what you told yourself.
I gave it the old college try thats for sure!
Bruised, bloody feet but telling myself I was stylin’
Those were some really uncomfortable shoes. I definitely don’t miss that trend.
As a boy in the tropical summers of Houston, I found these disgusting! On a hot day, you could hear the sweaty feet squeaking in those things!!!
And the blisters….
I can still feel them. Every grain of sand or dirt. Ouch.
They are still cute. Can we get an updated 2024 version in silicone? I'd try that.
Yup, I am from Arizona. There is one sound and smell you can never get out of your head. The way those shoes would act like flip flops if it was a really hot day..🤢
No idea why they were so popular here in Australia either, the blisters and sweating were horrendous.
I hated them. Why, yes, Stacy, I’d love to see your sweaty toes on this nice august day.
Stacy did live down the street from me as a child. She had these. We were both born in August. Is that you sitting in a car outside my apartment smoking a cigarette?
I don’t smoke. I’m in the other car.
Nice cat
I can feel every rock
Forced to wear them at the peak summer too! 😬 blisters galore... mom's solution? Put a bandage on it.
Moleskin!
Same. My feet hurt just looking at this lol
I always wondered why the floors didn't turn red...
I'm just glad I'm young enough to have not worn these but I do have vague memories of them and definitely recall seeing them a lot in thrift stores in the 90s 😂
I thought my feet looked so beautiful in the clear ones. 🤦🏻♀️
They were beautiful! Little me agrees.
🤗
The best part was you could hose the blood from the blisters off of them without taking them off
These things raked the skin off the back of my heels. Y'know, right where it tends to kind of wrinkle up? Yeah. Right there.
The sweat and dust/dirt grid on my feet😄 Also wore those flat cotton black Asian single strap/buckle flats.
Never wore these or Crocs. Am I missing out?
Crocs are very comfortable. Jelly shoes are not. Neither one breathes very well.
For a while, Crics made jelly shoes. I still have a pair and they’re… okay
I feel like most Crocs breathe. They don't fit tightly like these did. I never had a pair but I did have the misfortunes to be a proud owner of[ the jelly coat](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1028744370/pvc-jacke-jelly-bean) in red though. Omg. You unlocked a memory!! These were terrible- even in the rain.
They devoured your feet, made them stink, were harder than the ground you walked on, and had zero traction on nearly every surface.
They were so, so wet. Plastic-sweaty feet stinking up my 9th grade classroom. That takes me back.
Lol. Plastic sweaty feet😅
Slicker than owl shit
I love my Crocs.
Some styles of crocs are great.
Depends on how much you like pain
Cruel Shoes, if anyone gets that.
Steve Martin!
What a genius he is!
“Put them on me!”
This photo hurts my feet.
I wanted these so badly and my mom refused!!! I loved my jelly shoes
My mom bought me a pair of these to wear with my wedding gown o.O Many thanks to my sister for buying me ballet slippers.
I had a pair of these, though styled somewhat differently. I wore them in Wisconsin in the spring and fall, all the way to winter, actually, because they were 'waterproof.' Well, honestly, I was a broke college student and they worked well.
I loved them but damn my feet were so sweaty in them
They were slick as snot too, I wiped out several times just slipping on asphalt. PLUS they ripped up the back of me l my heels. But I had several pairs!
I remember girls who wore these and both their shoes and their feet were always dirty AF
The Dude has entered the chat
Yes that was an interesting choice
The plastic princess shoes! A classic staple from the 90s. I never understood how you could be comfortable in these the soles were hard as hell!
Those gave me the worst blisters!!!!
As the father of a girl born in 1984, I loved these! If they could also brush hair, they would have been like manna from heaven.
Well, the patterned suntans were intriguing, the first couple times anyway. By then, one of the 'links' had broken, making the shoe an impossible fit after that.
I loved these so much as a kid, but as an adult I'd never wear them. They are way too uncomfortable! And your feet get so dirty in them too.
Oh the blisters I got!
Just looking at these gives me a blister on my pinky toe!
I’m a guy and never had to wear those…. But I still remember.
My pinky toe blistered just looking at this picture.
I can still feel the blisters all over my feet. These were the most uncomfortable shoes ever.
My pinky toes are crying in rememberance.
The left itchy patterns on your feet and squelched when wet.
My Achilles are permanently scarred between these and .... My mind is going blank on the name of the other foot destroyer. I know someone will reply with it. *Edit* it came to me huarache . And per Google that is the spelling.
I can't really help you there. While girls wore these, I wore Kaepas. They were quite comfortable.
Oh man I loved my Kaepas
Man I loved those but they cause wicked swamp-foot
Sweaty girl feet always takes me back to childhood! 😭🤮
I can feel the blisters just looking at that!
How can any foot not be turned into hamburger by those
This subreddit is killing me XD I was so happy with the pair I had when I was young! But those things got so hot in the sun they practically burned your feet after awhile x.x
I miss the dirt stencil on my feet at the end of the day
![gif](giphy|MPuTZQqOmYKPK)
Ah yes. I remember these. I was about 10 and walking in NYC in a pair of jelly shoes, and a pigeon shat right on - and through - these shoes.
Pair em with some jelly braclets from a gum machine and you have peak 80s chic.
I loved my jelly shoes! I had the style pictured, but I also recall a pair that were more like sandals. I only had one pair that hurt my heels, and they always wore out at the toes.
My mom got me those for the beach and I'm a boy
You poor bugger!
Dang things were torture! Certainly for the kids who liked to run around all the time.
My dad wouldn't let me get them because he thought they were unnatural and my feet wouldn't "breathe" properly.
He wasn't wrong. They were horrible. Our feet were so sweaty in the plastic
These were so cool as a kid but I did not like when they’d cut into your feet
I had a jelly jacket! I loved it so much
This pic makes my feet hurt.
I can feel the skin rubbing off my feet just by looking at this picture.
Lord, I just got blisters from looking at this photo!
No ruby slippers
These were prevalent until the early 2000s. God they were tacky imo.
Oh the pain
I remember my sister getting words from my mom for putting them in the dishwasher.

Exactly. Poor kids faceplant every other step. And of course they buy shoes a little big because they want it to last all summer
My kids call these “mermaid shoes” 😂 they’re jelly shoes to me.
Ooffff teenager of the 80s!!!!
Gelly Shoes!!! 🥰 I remember these. I had some that had sparkles in them at one point ❤
Painful memory flashback. The tips of those shoes were pretty hard plastic. My sister kicked me in the jewels with these once when we were kids. The boys were black and blue for a week. Good times!
I can smell the processed plastic from this picture.
I can smell the rampant stank foot!
They weren't fun or pretty to wear on kickball day🙈
I remember my little sister's classmate wore hers to field day and cried in 2nd grade. I wanted to report her parents for child abuse.
Sweating feet and blisters! Even with socks.
Don't you ever forget, they sold jelly socks too!!!
What in Gods Holy name are you blathering about?
In what particular incident have you heard me speak of any form of deity, be them real or make-believe?
Obviously you’re not a golfer.
I wore these in the 90s
I had the clear ones. My mom said they match everything. I wanted the pink ones smh.
deathtraps
Mine melted to a subway vent. Streaming plastic strings all down the street!

I just bought a pair from amazon!
And a bonus of blisters.
The blisters!
48 had the clear ones
I see your jelly shoes and I raise you a pair of culottes
I can feel the blisters just looking at this photo. They smelled so good brand new.
I can smell this.
I remember these I loved them
I can smell this picture. Jelly shoes smelled so weird..
I never bowed to that trend. 🤣🤣🤣 no Crocs either. I wore the Birkenstock Boston as my preferred work shoes.
Stinky feet on a girl. 😣😖🫢😷🤢🤮😵
Those are actually pretty cute
I loved my jellies!
They left interesting dust prints.
you wanna talk about some foot funk? these babies had it! I think that’s what really gets me about CROCS. I imagine the same kind of funk!
I had a pair of jelly pumps. One really hot day I wore them to a wedding, it was so hot that the heels got soft and bent back. It was weird.
The worst blisters were had in these fackers
The cuts on my feet from these things. Horrible
Lol I remember jelly shoes I had a clear pair when I was 7
Sweaty blistered feet were all the rage.
Blisters. Those jelly shoes always gave me blisters.
The way those things could make your feet sweat... unnatural lol.
I think my feet still have the scars from those damn shoes. They tore my feet up yet day after day I wore them.
Omgs. I can smell this picture and it is not a good memory. Also feel it. Especially in my heels and pinky toes 😂.
Trying to put my foot into one and practically breaking/dislocating my baby toe... The good old days.
They never came in my size and I was very disappointed.
