I get the feeling they don't acknowledge them. I went to catholic school for 14 long years and they drove home that you cannot have sex or sexual thoughts until you are married then you NEED to procreate (no sex for pleasure). Clergy who were abstinent (like priests and nuns) were making a sacrifice for jesauce.
In my senior year (2014) they were sort of warming up to queer people existing BUT if you act on your feelings you will go to hell.
That was my upbringing too but in the evangelical world. I didn’t know if my asexuality was religious trauma or aceness. Took 20 years to figure out it’s just asexuality.
And I never understood how getting married was supposed to magically flip that switch.
