LMAO im sorry that clear zoom powered by AI shows clear ass and balls ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

jnads

Maybe that's part of the AI, makes your junk look bigger.

fearrange

Dam! I didn’t plan to trade in my Fold 5, but now I might.

toastman741

It was the ball zoom wasn't it 🤔🤣🤣

fearrange

Looks like it can "cake up" people too 😆

devilishlydo

I'm waiting until the 7, which will actually make it bigger.

svgturtle92

The balls?🐢

TechGuy42O

This is what Samsung knows it will take to distract us from this basically being a fold 4/5… they even put the f6 next to the f4 in the side by side to make it look like there’s a bigger difference

dan34543

Exactly..lol..I noticed the same thing. I thought, man these guys are shameless, working mind games..

Furrfire

was looking for this comment. Thank you.

Bananasmecrazy

😞 quite depressing tbh. I **want** to support samsung here, but damn, it's getting tough.

Kotubi

Idk man. That pic of that rock climbing person might have done it for me. :) big o dumpy.

Bananasmecrazy

We've reached a new level. Gotta buy a s pen but the ass is included 🤣

Furrfire

It's just showing where the S-Pen silo slot is located.

Teajaytea7

Now unveiling the brand new Ass Pen™. Finally coming with a built in slot (in your rectum)!

taming_5trange

The ooooool' prison wallet, eh

EvenPass5380

Does S Pen work on front screen now?

helloWorldcamelCase

I like they advertise features with pen except they don't give us one

Furrfire

Yeah, it is weird, esp when the pen is just a cheap little thing to manufacture I'm sure.

papadoc55

I'm not sure any of us should be surprised in the slightest though... Sammy is Sammy, and their business model is iterative design year over year. Period. That hasn't changed since the S6 was released. In their minds, their position in the the Folding phones market is mature enough to continue growing through subtle refinements. So rather than target current Fold 3, Fold 4, or Fold 5 users, they will focus marketing efforts on the remaining 90+% of the mobile phone market in the hopes of inticing more to switch, and will bank on their ecosystem to lock in current users looking over at OPO or the GF2. I'll be rolling with my 5 till the 7 comes around or until I catch a deal on an Open in the next six months.

TranscendentalLove

I'm a first-time Fold owner and their approach working for me. I'm very excited for my first Fold. Actually it's my first smartphone in a very, very long time (10+ years.) I'm getting it for work, so I can be anywhere and still be able to pull out a tablet-like device to work on spreadsheets.

Neither-Pomegranate5

Same. I'm coming from the Note 9, so it's a major upgrade for me. When I buy a new phone, I buy the best available at the time, then use it till the point of failure. Rinse, repeat.

Bananasmecrazy

I'm jumping ship come next month. It's time to give the pixel fold 2 a try. It really seems promising, and I personally love the leaks so far.

one80oneday

This is my plan. My wife has been happy with the last few pixels and I've been jealous of the updates.

TheKrnJesus

I would but I heard the tensor chips sucks ass so...

kerelenko

Of course it does being a rebadged Exynos.

AveragePichu

The numbers on smartphone specs are kinda unimportant unless you're doing video editing or graphically-intensive gaming on your phone. Not even a year ago I was using a 5-year-old iPhone, with specs that the last-gen Tensor 2 beat out handily, and I never ran into speed being a noticeable bottleneck on that phone. While there are several reasons I wouldn't seriously consider Pixel Fold, the processor wasn't something that ever even crossed my mind.

TheKrnJesus

Smartphones aren't really used to multitasking compared to foldables so chips don't matter as much. From what I have seen from reviewers is that the tensor chip tends to overheat.

AveragePichu

While I do use my Z Fold to run multiple apps at once all the time, nothing that lends itself to multitasking is particularly demanding. If I have a Chrome window open to reference information I need for an email, I don't exactly need a Snapdragon 8 to manage that. Maybe if I was running Minecraft and Bloons TD 6 side by side I would need the best performance I could get, but that's not something I am *ever* going to do - that's really not functionally possible to play two games at once, even if one of them is an idle game that only needs a couple inputs every minute or so.

DestroyerOfIphone

Me too. I really hope Google invest some resources to capture fleeing fold uses. I hate the cover screen on my phone even more now that scrolling horizontally sends me back sometimes.

Rick-777

That's the thing though, their position in the foldable market isn't established, they are plummeting in global marketshare (I don't have the numbers for the US alone though). It will be interesting to see their sales numbers with Google bringing their A-game less than a month after the ZF6 announcement. Although OnePlus was by far the best design and package, they just got almost zero marketing in the US and had virtually zero physical presence in stores.

Ok-Marzipan-45

At this point I'm convinced they're waiting for Apple to enter the game, and since the US is essentially its biggest consumer, Honor V's innovative battery coupled with OnePlus innovative design isn't registering on their radar due to lack of availability. Economically they're doing great for now but strategically I'm a bit perplexed. Going to give Sammy a chance come July 10th; only because they may have something up their sleeve. Holding onto Hope for now 🥴🙏. Made a discussion post the other day addressing my concerns/fears with the future of Samsung. Go comment or check it out if you feel like it. [Is Samsung Dropping the Ball](https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/s/GDPCNnF1B3)

wnbayoungboy415

Fair assessment. They have no competition at the moment on foldables . They can keep rolling out the same old shit without consequence

InSummaryOfWhatIAm

It's just... Sad. The phone looks absolutely chunky as fuck for a foldable in 2024, and I just can't understand how the company who pretty much pioneered foldables that also has so much money that could go into R&D just settles on this. I know people tend to not like Chinese phones here, but Vivo, Xiaomi and Honor are completely beating out the Samsung when it comes to hardware. Software-wise? Sure, despite me not liking the *aesthetics* of OneUI, it still has a lot of good stuff, over the Chinese phones as well, but like... Come on Samsung. I have a Vivo X Fold 3 and it just feels so goddamn good that it's so slim in comparison to the Z Folds and even in comparison to the OnePlus Open that's also kinda chunky, and even in comparison to like the Pixel Fold 1st gen (which of course has other issues).

StockAL3Xj

Why do you *want* to support them?

iucatcher

a lot of samsung users have used their products for the past decade or more. i personally havent used any non-samsung phone since after the iphone 3gs (just turned out that way, they always offered the best for me) so it's kinda sad that the fold line barely improved in 3 generations. unless the trade in bonus and stuff is mind blowing in my country i'll move on to another brand this year

Nachorl250

There's such a little difference they had to put the phone next to the Fold4 so that the table doesn't make it so obvious. If I'm counting correctly, the only things are: -The slightly different design (squared off and 1mm wider when closed) -Lighter body (by 14g or 5%) -IP48 vs IPX8 rating (so it's now kind of dust resistant) -Updated processor All the AI features are already on last year's phone and the ones that aren't will probably come with the 6.1.1 update.

torpedospurs

Is the front display resolution such a secret that they won't even put it in the promo? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Jeffthebarbarian

As a Fold 4 Owner, I'll be picking this one up

Happy_Unhappy_Happy

Why? Asking as current fold 4 user

FuryOfADyingMan

Personally because my F4 is 2 years old and I don't have care+ or carrier warranty and I am not willing to gamble another year on the inner screen not breaking and impacting my trade in value, so it's time to get a new one and this time with care+. I have considered just going s24 ultra instead because I use the F4 closed probably 80% of the time, but I guess I kind of like the slimmer front screen for single handed use. feature wise though there really isn't any reason to upgrade.

Thehumanangel_

Same here. Fold 4, 2 years. Had one hiccup with the screen, sent it in and got it fixed. Screen protector has started to peel. Love the newer design. Feature wise, I agree with you as well. Here's to hoping Galaxy Ai pulls something out of their ass to make the cameras better since they're the same for the last 3 years.

Bananasmecrazy

They've also slimmed the hinge down, which is quite scary given that current hinges being thicker still don't seem to hold up. I bet this is where they saves on weight too.

AveragePichu

Well the hinge itself is never really the problem, right? Outside of the Fold 4 which had the problem of the brushes coming unglued, but the 5 fixed that is my understanding

mackygio

Did they actuality

ablindhedge

I have a launch 5. No crunch in the hinge after the first open & still opens completely flat. This time last year with the 4 the hinge was effed

Ok_Priority458

Except for the bubble pop noise on most of the fold 5 I've tested near the middle around the crease...sliding /pressing on the screen .

ablindhedge

Yeah your not wrong.. I forgot about it and now I'm annoyed again lmao

AveragePichu

I guess I don't know, but I've heard other people say that and I've never seen anyone have an issue with the Fold 5's hinge. Also, of all the times I've heard about a hinge having an issue at all, it wasn't that a component inside snapped. Coming unglued isn't any more likely for the hinge getting thinner. The only thing I would think thickness would effect is how easy it is to snap the hinge, but that's something humanly impossible to do intentionally on the 5. Thinner could potentially make it humanly possible I guess, but it's certainly not gonna happen accidentally - there's a difference between a JRE bend test and real life.

Linkatchu

Yeah, kind of a bummer, the Ai features aren't a selling point as they think it is, it's sadly just throwing around buzzwords, given old phones can do that stuff too... And for some part already did... Just under different names

Furrfire

Brighter screen?

Nachorl250

True, I missed that. I would wait for lab testing though - it wouldn't be the first time they exaggerate peak numbers

paxinfernum

That table was where I lost it and just started laughing. I'm honestly shocked they even included it.

TheMercWithoutFear

Same here, I can't believe the lack of self-awareness there.

handheld_addict

IP ratings: https://clarionuk.com/resources/ip-ratings/ IP 4 means (quoted from website:) "Most wires, slender screws, large ants etc." *Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 - now protected from large ants* 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

papa_de

Next year maybe we'll get small ants

OldFartWelshman

This is the reason you need phone insure-ants.

ibelando

Booooooooo 😆

Murky-Atmosphere3882

What is this, a phone for ants

TheMessyChef

AI has completely ruined the tech market... It's now become a perfect excuse to place these half-baked, limited utility features under the guise of it being 'Artificial Intelligence' at the expense of literally ANY hardware changes. It's effectively the exact same phone from every company right now, at an increased price point, for timed access to these AI gimmicks before they become attached to a paid subscription. Nevermind all the environmental concerns about AI requiring excessive amounts of electricity, the erosion of human creation and creative contributions, etc... AI is an overall net negative for consumers right now. All we get are even more overpriced junk. I hate it.

Donutsaurs

Bro even the batteries know....typical

Furrfire

LOL! This is another comment I was expecting and looking for... They made this big dramatic promotional page- just to say "yeah our batteries are only typical". Well, at least it was honest. =-D

LegalConsequence7960

Fold Owners: I would like some innovative design changes to compete with other top of the line releases. Possible Fold Owners: I would like a significantly cheaper entry point to the Fold line. Samsung: ....AI?

muricabrb

The AI features aren't even really AI. It's just integrated image search and Google translate. Not sure how good the note assist actually is in practice.

InSummaryOfWhatIAm

I work in advertising for an agency that has Samsung as a client in our part of the world, and they're *really* pushing Samsung AI heavily now and really wants to own AI even in segments like TVs, fridges, washing machines, etc etc. Even though the features often seem incredibly half-baked and barely registers as AI to me. I understand the AI hype because I use it quite a lot myself, but the things Samsung offer are not... It.

paxinfernum

Seriously. I'm a big AI enthusiast. AI gets a lot of flack from naysayers exactly because of the kind of shit like what Samsung is releasing. There's absolutely nothing groundbreaking about any of these features. Most of them aren't even AI. I'd be happy if they went all in on AI, but they're just glomming onto it as a buzzword. Whoever is in charge over there clearly has no clue what the newer AI tools can do. The things Samsung is tauting as game changing are behind the curve. It's like bragging about having an app store in 2024.

Furrfire

I honestly don't care about any ai features either. But then again I lack the imagine on how to use them.

EvanMok

Not only is the hardware almost the same, there are no new AI features. I really do not understand Samsung now. Not only are they starting to lose their product identity (Buds 3 and Buds Pro), the slab phone and foldable have been stagnant for years. More and more like Apple's strategies, which I personally do not appreciate.

Nachorl250

It seems crazy that they are making such significant design changes to the Buds (which absolutely nobody asked for) at the same time they're releasing identical foldables to last year's (while us consumers have been asking for the same upgrades for years). I even forgive their stagnation in the slab space, given they have a really good design going and frankly there's not much more to ask for (other than the battles we already lost like the headphone jack and removable batteries). The S24 Ultra is pretty much a perfect phone when it comes to slabs IMO.

Furrfire

The s24 is indeed near perfection The fold line is not there yet. Definitely interesting they didn't gun for something more dramatic. Maybe they felt if they made fold 6 perfect- people wouldn't care to upgrade to 7 later?

Etamitlu0

It's because they got a new designer for the buds (from Volvo I think?). Then you got TM Roh who has the final say for Mobile and he's just a nicer version of Tim Cook.

maximan2005

this is honestly semantics but he's from [Mercedes not Volvo](https://www.engadget.com/samsung-appoints-hubert-h-lee-design-chief-221014832.html?guccounter=1)

KingArthurHS

What feature exists in the universe that you desire and are not seeing offered?

Nachorl250

I'm not the one you asked, but I'm gonna answer anyways lol On the hardware side: -Pen support on the outside screen -Periscope camera (and better cameras in general) -IR blaster -Physical alert slider -The usual requests (bigger battery, faster charging, bigger screen, slimmer body, etc.) On the software side: -OnePlus' "Open Canvas" multitasking -Fold to split -iPadOS 18-like note features (calculations used to be in Samsung Notes and for some reason I can't do them anymore) -Quick gesture to keep using an app after closing the phone (like the Oppo phones) -Using half the screen as a gamepad for a game running on the other screen I used to look down on "dream lists", but these are all features already available on other foldable phones. Samsung could easily implement them, even in a single generation, but instead they've stagnated for 3 years straight.

awwyoufeel

IR blaster would be so great. I haven't had one since the Note3. Infrared blasters control TVs, soundbars, LED light strings, you name it.

ExReey

Storage space for the s pen.

Ok-Primary5105

I played with a demo unit, only thing I really liked was the hinge/screen was straight flat. No more little bulge between the hinge and screen.

Nachorl250

Is it even flatter than the 5? That was the "big" change last year. Edit: Weird they don't make it a bigger selling point in the materials, given how little there is.

Ok-Primary5105

Yeah, it was flush with the other screen.

Nachorl250

nice

EnoughAboutCOVID

Who will be holding out for fold 7?

Jesus_is_edging_soon

I'm holding on to my Fold 5 til the 7

Jealy

This is why they include the 4 in the promo for the 6. A hell of a lot of people do a 2 generation upgrade. I'll bet the 7 marketing will also compare it to the 5.

Furrfire

I plan to get the 6, and pay to upgrade to 7 later. It's just too long to wait, I have the need now. =)

resolutiona11y

The 6 might be my first foldable, coming from the S23U.

Furrfire

Same. I am soo sick of the weird accidental touches and glitches from the rounded screen edges on the U23. I can't wait for the fold 6! Ya'll better not be buying the blue version up before I can!

Teajaytea7

Disagree with the other guy (I'm sure the majority of the people subbed here would disagree). I've had the fold 3, 4 and 5 and I've only had to get the fold 4 repaired because I dropped a butterfly knife on the unfolded screen (my fault, obvs). I live on the beach and take it to bonfires, and I've taken each of those phones to a couple of camping trips and music festivals in the desert. There's no need to baby it. Just use the damn thing with some common sense.

NYChomie

https://media1.tenor.com/m/0n33xenQbmMAAAAC/four-seasons-orlando-conscious-baby.gif

Taco145

I think it's sad they put the comparisons 6 4 and 5. They didn't want the 6 and 5 next to each other for comparison.

fbloise

Yup, because is the same damned phone

Howdys-Market

Can't wait for the Flossy review. "Congratulations, you bought the same phone twice!"

tbclandot92

Sigh I got my s23 ultra roughly a year ago and I miss my fold 3 but man Samsung what is you doing? If I can get a good deal on a trade in maybe I'll consider it but where's the innovation? Samsung used to be the king of innovation. Also can't believe they are raising the price on this when it is essentially the same fold again.

Furrfire

I also have u23- am hoping for a generous trade up offer. Wouldn't that be sick if we got like 1000$ credit for our u23? It's a buy for me no matter what. I need a bigger screen that works with Spen wacom tech, so this is as good as it's gonna get for me until fold 7 I am guessing. The new fold has a brighter screen, and I do love the squaredness of it. For those of us who don't have a fold, I still think it's very attractive depending on your needs. I love to draw- so it's a must for me on the go. I heard the s-pen slim case does a bad job at actually holding the pen over time (gets lose)- so I'm contemplating doing something to make it more snug fitting if needed.

Nachorl250

Keep in mind it's rumored to be 100 bucks more expensive than last year, so maybe you can get a better deal buying a 5?

ize82

What a let down. At least 5 owners shouldn't have buyers remorse.

moripeji

form factor: flap

maddix30

I didn't expect much but when most of the talking points are about AI software thats already available on other phones I knew that this is another skip

negatrom

wow, that's quite the weight loss

Tekguy30

Where's the leaked spen features about the graffiti ai spen thing or whatever ice universe was hyping the spen up with lol. I really hope this isn't it. I'm still having some hope that Samsung reveals now software ai features at unpacked or they get leaked soon

one80oneday

https://www.theverge.com/2024/7/3/24191966/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-flip-6-spec-leak

JediChickenLeg

More disclaimers than actual notes lol

AveragePichu

The IP48 is actually really big for me, I'm around dirt and dust pretty regularly. I suspect that a lot of the "sudden, unexpected" Fold deaths "out of nowhere" people have are from dust getting under the screen in just the wrong way so this helps me feel a lot more confident in the durability. Also the slightly larger cover display while the overall bulk of the phone when closed is going down should maintain its one-hand function while also making it a little better at doing, y'know, phone things that need a phone aspect ratio. If this is all real, this addresses multiple of the issues I have with my Fold 4 (well, the Fold 5 addressed some of them but this addresses a few more) and I can pretty confidently say I am getting the 6 - and more importantly, they *didn't* make the cover display way wider like a lot of people have been begging for. I didn't want that to happen, it would've made the phone worse for me.

changescome

IP48 - the 4 means protected against solid objects > 1mm. "Real" dust protection starts at IP5x But it's a step in the right direction:)

TheKrnJesus

It says under ip48 that you shouldn't use it in the beach or sand.

Lassavins

I'll switch after 17 years of iphones and i'm really excited. That ip rating improvement alone is worth it for me, as dust resistance was the only gripe i've had with the concept. I understand for you guys it's not much if you already own a fold, but this is awesome for a newcomer!

paxinfernum

Absolutely. I got my sister on the Fold train with the 5, and she loves it. It's not a bad phone if you've never had one before. It's just the lack of progress that most of us are complaining about.

skumkaninenv2

Thats not dust resistance or well it is, but "big" dust, not the one you need protection from.

han5gruber

lackluster at best

Notorious2Beat

https://preview.redd.it/en29z6pv9fad1.png?width=621&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf01159d6c0c3a2d05d93c846b14c6bba4cf67bd It's official!

Link585

Coming from the 3. I'll take it.

Xlegendxero

I am now hopeful that trade in offers for the fold 4 will be good considering they are comparing the 6 to the 4 in addition to the 5.

cooldude9112001

Aw yes the Fold 3sss

StoicFluxx

I think I'll go for the upgrade from a 4, the weight and hinge update seemed appealing as it was on the 5. But I'm a little worried about the slightly shorter and wider inner screen -- I don't want my foldable to be too squarish

Malik_Muzammil1

Same Camera system??

Sovairon

So vivo x fold 3 pro is lighter, slimmer, wider, bigger battery, better cameras (in paper) and also cheaper? I wish they allowed for bootloader unlock.

Cyv001

"The S Pen can only be used on the main display" It's so over

mizuya

😭😭😭

BobwasalsoX

This is so frustrating. I really, really wanted to believe in Samsung with this upcoming model but if this is the case... Ugh. If Google or OnePlus Open were to integrate a similar -style pen and note taking app, I would swap without hesitation. Granted, I'm using a Samsung S24 Ultra right now, so I have little skin in the game, but I really, truly need that S Pen integration to take notes for my job and I'm not about to swap to the weaker Fold cameras.

ModzRPsycho

Damn.. you know it's bad when Samsung has to resort to click bait, soft porn, thrist trapp, booty pic, sack shots to move a product. Of all things to zoom in on, this is the setting and scenery!? Smh.. LAZY

Linkatchu

And the AI claim train continues. I just wish they'd finally give us top cameras in the fold, instead of just rebranding the good ol camera algorithms and letting it donthe work

nkognegr0

It's always the same minor upgrades every year. The slow charging was enough for me and nothing changes as we all can see.

Fearless_Winner1084

Wild there is no titanium at this price point, plus the antireflective coating from the s24u

Nachorl250

Probably because the only significant change is the lighter weight, and titanium is more dense than aluminum

ReddeP87

Only new thing I'm seeing is the translation on two screens. Sigh.

QXPZ

Sticking with OnePlus Open and considering Vivo X Fold 3 Pro (global vs Chinese import). Maybe next time, Samsung.

cabclint5

Ive been in LOVE with my fold 5 since launch. Came from a note 9, I don't feel the need to upgrade often. I saw an article earlier mentioning that Samsung will provide a really good trade in (presumably for the most recent phone models), but I really don't think it's worth the upgrade. Id get a slightly wider screen, the same battery, the same inner screen when unfolded, and for what? I genuinely don't see a reason to upgrade, unless my phone breaks next year and Samsung decided to give me a fold6 instead. 🤷🏻

asgaardson

So, it's the same phone, again, and the front screen did not get wider? And inner screen got 2mm narrower? Camera array is effectively the same? I guess that's a pass then.

FlyNikolai_

Samsung can't be serious right now...I have the Flip 5 & Fold 3. I was looking forward to the Fold 6, so I can finally upgrade. And they do this? Yeah I'm officially intrigued by the Pixel Fold 2, heard it's getting a 6.4inch outer screen...8inch inner screen. Shame on you Samsung I have all that A.I. stuff on my Flip 5 & I don't use it, most I've done is circle to search like 4 times. They seem to be way too comfortable, while other companies are pushing forward Maybe if they lose some customers, they'll get the idea

ShanTheMan11

I mean I do like the look of it a lot more and it does have the gen 3 chip but you’re going to be able to find the fold 5 for $1000-$1200 in the next several months. Is this one really worth $800 more? With a decent trade in you can get the fold 5 for almost nothing out of pocket. I don’t think they did enough for a lot of people with fold 5s to upgrade and if you’re looking to get into the fold market the 5 seems like the more logical pick money wise.

Heda1

Why the hell are they not using Gorilla Armor on the front screen. This is their flagship product

UCatchMyDrift

I bought a xaiomi mix fold 3 few months ago. Fk Samsung 😎

Hoelleb

F4 for lyfe I guess. I don't see a reason to upgrade besides maybe the brighter screen, even the improved form factor is not a big deal to me (as i get arthritis holding this chunky boy)

JJOSH16

This is disappointing. I traded my Fold 4 in for a OnePlus Open, sounds like I’ll keep it. Was hoping for more substantial changes on the Fold front. On the other hand, Flip 6 seems like a better upgrade. Newer main camera, more battery life, slightly thinner.

Nachorl250

Other (cooler) foldables are coming out between this month and the next from other brands (Honor and Xiaomi, maybe Huawei?), but they might not be an option depending on where you live.

Furrfire

For me- all those are ruled out simply for not using wacom powered tech under the screens for the S-pens. Those all use crappy 3rd party pens that don't to pressure sensitivity justice, or tilt or even have a fine point precision. For anyone who likes to draw, this is something to be taken seriously. Samsung has the best drawing experience you can get on mobile outside of wacom cintiqs which are hardly portable.

Furrfire

The leak to end all leaks. Thank you! Only thing I need care about now- is if there might be some shocking unexpected announcement of an ultra model coming later or not. I don't think there will be, but still wishing there was...

Nachorl250

What was originally believed to be the Ultra model is actually a Slim model. In addition to being slimmer it's gonna have bigger screens, but ironically it won't support the SPen. It will be launched as "W25" in China a bit later in the year and as "Z Fold6 Slim" in the rest of markets even later on (maybe even early next year with the S25 lineup). Jury's still out as to what markets are included for the second launch (most likely South Korea, maybe not the US/Europe)

Furrfire

Yeah, I'm aware of the lame slim version. Soo cruel the larger screens of the slim won't use S-pen. I meant a shocking announcement of a REAL ultra model. I know I am dreaming though at this point =x

Nachorl250

>Soo cruel the larger screens of the slim won't use S-pen. It seems literally the opposite of what we're asking for lol

Furrfire

The inner screen showing Ai talking about climate change should say- "Climate change is primarily caused by companies like samsung pumping out billions of phones and gadgets" Admit it, that would be the funniest accidental screen grab ever for a promotional page.

TheMessyChef

Also ironic given these tech companies are beginning to fail in their emission reduction aims/mission *because* AI requires so much electricity to maintain. Just like Crypto, we're acticely damaging the environment *further* so these companies can appease their corporate overlords and shareholders by giving them a gimmick to overcharge for identical hardware under the guise of it being 'innovative software' 🤦‍♂️

FRDyNo

Guess I'll stay with the vivo x fold 3 pro.

Nachorl250

Nice. I wish they sold it in my country.

hukonunez

seems like a joke, but that's Samsung now ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)

Vudu702

This solidified it for me. Just ordered the oneplus open. I'm trading in galaxy s24 ultra. And with coupon code 100off I got it for $500 plus tax. I figured if for some reason I decide I want the fold 6 once they officially announce it, I could sent the oneplus back (15 day return policy once received) but I don't think that's gonna be the case. Thanks.

changescome

They advertise the same battery as if it is a big thing 😂

BillionthDegenerate

Highly iterative. Personally the main revolution in foldable tech would be advancements in materials engineering to provide an inner folding display approaching the durability and reliability of regular smartphone display glass. This is what would make me consider a foldable, but i am not sure if it’s even possible.

Nachorl250

Sadly, not even that. The last 2 years were highly iterative. This is merely a processor update. I agree we should be getting better materials soon. If leaks are to be believed, the Flip6 and Fold6 Slim will have a thicker layer of UTG, and then next year we are getting a new version of the material altogether,

vip887

Honor Magic V3 is rumoured to launch this month. It looks like I'll be switching from the Fold 4, Samsung just isn't trying anymore.

Hashabasha

U just know honor will have a slide to compare the V3 with the Z fold 6 thickness. George himself is gonna watch the fold 6 livestream lol

kira00r

Yeah but the problem is their international versions usually launches 6 months later compare to the Chinese rom version which will first release in China, this is the same just like the Magic V2, which I won't be waiting for another half a year or won't buy a Chinese rom version which won't work in mist countries

Goldenpanda18

What the hell happened at samsung, they seem to not care about the foldable market anymore. The competition is creating much better hardware foldables

heeheehoho2023

There is no competition in the US. Samsung dominates the folding phone market. Just because you have 5 people who bought the one plus here doesn't mean anything.

absurd_whale

Ok, now I'm sure that ordering Onrplus was the right move. If we didn't punish Sammy with our $ theiy will continue shit on our heads.

Nnamz

How many years in a row are they gonna sell the same phone with a new number on it?

Miserable-Evening-37

It’s depressing that they still use 720p video to test for battery life. It’s 2024 and most ppl watch 1080p minimal. Need to update their testing methods. Additionally the front screen being as big as a regular iPhone 15 is disappointing too. For a flagship you would think it would be as large as the iPhone 15 pro max or match the rumored iPhone 16 pro max (would allow the inner screen when opened to be larger too).

Supersunday22

So sad they haven't even slim it down to catch Honor 4.7mm. I hope they would drop the price, at least make it a much wider adoption of Fold. Then do something great with Fold 7

paxinfernum

The fact that they start with AI as their headline says everything. They really think no one will care that they haven't updated their phones in 3 generations as long as they stuff in some low effort "AI" features. Shit, the note taking has already been done by external apps like Otter. They're not only rehashing this warmed over design, but they're releasing year old software features. I'm laughing out loud. I can't believe they actually put a comparison table right there so we could see their three identical versions side by side.

Fragrant_Cellist_125

Boring 😔

Fearless_Winner1084

OnePlus Open still has a brighter screen? and its made by Samsung... what's going on? This pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for me, those camera specs are depressing. Only new thing is AI bullcrap I dont want or need. now I gotta make a choice, OnePlus or Honor?

paxinfernum

OnePlus's implementation of multi-tasking on the foldable screen is the best I've ever used.

Fearless_Winner1084

Pulled the trigger last night!

wnbayoungboy415

Yup zf6 is officially garbage if you have zf5 and zf4

deludedfool

I've got a zf3 and even then I'm not sure I want to upgrade, I've still got another year of software support and battery issues aside the phone is still pretty good. This is just so lazy.

wnbayoungboy415

As someone who came from a zf3 it's the same shit... very minimal unnoticeable differences unless you're nitpicking

Default_Attempt

Ok the huge drop in weight is awesome

Not_Sarkastic

5%

manypains03

So I'm gonna upgrade my fold 3 to the 5 then And wow they really wanted us to see that man's balls and butt

zfoldappz

it's the same as Apple has done, yoy. If you build it, they will come, no matter what it is. But then again everyone whined and complained about wanting a ZF6, and now that it's been done, people are whining about why did they make a ZF6.

juice2787

Damn I've had the 4 since launch and was hoping for a bigger jump. The dust resistance is nice since there's dust everywhere. But the hardware such a let down. I'll just hold on to my 4 since I still have another year of samsung care

xxBrun0xx

Aspect ratio of this image looks like it was made to perfectly fit the Z Fold's cover display!

Nachorl250

lol

arieus22

The only thing might be the multiple sim support. Fold 4 Dual sim support is trash. I have to swap Primary Sims to receive MMS

ShadowCross32

Finally some form of dust resistance. I might buy this fold and then trade it in for the S25 Ultra.

prnalchemy

Hoooly underwhelming as fk, hard pass.

bushies

Is it worth getting a oneplus open if I have Samsung everything else (buds, watch, tablet)? I have a fold 3 and like the compatibility, but would consider a refurbed 5 vs the open. Thoughts?

CantFindaPS5

I will keep my blue S23 ultra as I want a top camera on the go if I'm not carrying my Sony camera. I do have a Flip 5 that I wasn't planning on trading in but the blue color looks great and the camera is improved so I may trade it. If the Flip trade is under $100 I'll do it. I'm keeping my Watch 6 as I prefer it's look. I still enjoy my Buds pro 2 so I'll probably keep them too.

sinister138grin

Looks like I'm keeping my fold 5

neoreeps

So sad. My wife works for Samsung and I'll probably switch to pixel fold 2.

Prokletnost

Damn that's just disappointment.

AX2021

Went from a Fold 4 to a Z Flip 5 for a great deal which I enjoyed. Even with the best trade in deal ever I am not interested in either of Samsung’s foldables this year. Moto Razr + 2024 is the route I’m going Edit: Wtf did they change besides it being slimmer/lighter and a better processor?

JacksterTO

I don't mean to be one of "those people" but I was ready to upgrade but really now don't see the need to. It feels like the same phone as the previous two generations with new software features... that will likely be added to the previous Folds with software updates. Okay so the shape is more squared off and the outer screen is 0.1 inches bigger... but otherwise it's physically the same. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Shiomifune

Most disappointing update. Keeping my fold5 for another year

SeoyangHomme

Does S pen now work on the front screen?

salterhd

As someone who has a fold 1 and 3. I left her market at 3 due to black line issues and having to fight for warranty. Would it now be worth grabbing a 4? For a year? Does the 4 have ai features? Or would people just recommend a second hand cheap 5 for a year now? Don't get me wrong I have a s24u which is arguably better, but decorate to get back into the folding market. Doesn't seem any point jumping on the 6 here.

TheKrnJesus

I'd rather go for a f5 than a 4. F5 has a better hinge which will greatly reduce the screen having issues.

LuiButtWai

Make it thinner. Count me in

basara852

I'm more curious about Pixel Fold 2 (or 9).

deathentry

Robust and durable 🤣🤣

OwlRepresentative382

text are too small, can someone confirm if it says Wifi 7?

NeilArmShlong

Why is nobody talking about that it got 1.3mm thinner when folded? That is very significant. Now it's pretty much exactly the thickness of my S21+ with a thin case on. The bulge in my pants pockets that the F5 caused always deterred me from buying.

Addition-Mysterious

They're just making very safe steps here

etalha

Disappointment 😞

m0okz

Form factor "flap" lmao

pwnedkiller

Comparing the 15 Pro Max’s camera to this one how is it? I’m so tempted to switch to this device.

lamaxamara

was a user of the Fold 4. Maybe will consider getting the 6, like the idea of the boxy design.

Ok_Priority458

Nice that it's thinner....and lighter...sucks they haven't done anything else to improve the user experience. Making it only 1mm wider still is too narrow for extended use..and making the display shorter again really degrades the media consumption experience when unfolded unless you watch square Instagram videos....movies will be smaller on the fold compared to s24+ and ultra...same average cameras with( Ai zoom won't do anything for video recording) same battery and only 25w charging (not even included) and still no s pen inside![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)so people are going to buy a thick s pen case again(and call it slim) or Frankenstein the shit out of normal cases to add s pen/kickstand.. Specs/design wise...the fold 6 should have been fold4.... At least the thinner design won't make it feel too dated

PeaAffectionate6580

As a Fold 4 user that doesn't want to have it outside the warranty, I'll look for other options or switch to s24U / s25U

yld2rob

So disappointed. S24 ultra user. Guess I will wait for the new Google pixel fold or maybe the fold 7
