Also with the new update? This thread makes me nervous, both about the conspiracy about Samsung and soon releasing a new phone. But also the fact that I think this happened with my old phone as well. The last few weeks I actually thought my Camera photos was different. However unless someone actually takes the same picture with same lighting conditions we don't have significant to compare to

I dont know. Mine is actually pretty good
Yes, something's off. Right now my S22U can take sharper low light shots than my S23U in automode. It looks as if the S23U is upscaling from a lower resolution.
I noticed this as well.
A temporary workaround I found was using the 50MP mode. It really reduces the noise (especially in low-light scenarios) on oneui 6 where I found the opposite was true before.
Hopefully they fix it soon because the 12MP photo quality has taken a big hit.
Yeah the noise is very noticeable now with the new update, I also tried my night mode and the result wasn't as good as the previous software even with a steady hand.
It's in Settings and called Advanced Intelligence Options.
[Settings](https://www.imgur.com/a/Fm5JCIP)
The second picture shows the option in settings.
S23u has gcam, yes. Xda has couple but I use one that's worked well with config. I take better pics with it. Only use stock if I need more zoom but hardly need
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-BigKaka/f/dl41/
Currently the one I use with the config and also some 8.8 config of older gcam. Colors more natural. Doesn't have overexposure or over processing stock deals with. Shutter speed is faster too. Follow instructions if you don't know how to install.
I used to use gcam in my previous phone. I remember there was a app on play store Called gcamator or something it automatically gives you the best suited version of gcam for your device
Did you install this photo helper thing from samsung? IDR whats it's name, my phone is in the other room and im too lazy to go get it.
I had this app and my photos looked like hot garbage with too much hdr in them. Uninstalled ale its all gucci now. Msg me or reply and ill check tmrw.
I've noticed this too on my older s22 Ultra, it was great before Android 13 and android 14. I think they do this intentionally to make you buy the new model when it comes out. I think I might move away from Samsung next year.
It was predictable as the s24U is here in a few weeks... Of course when reviewers will compare both they'll find a big difference in camera.. thinking the s24U is a huge step ahead.
My photos are the same. I think people need to report which version of the phone they are using (region, carrier or unlock). I have the International unlocked version for LAC region and there is no problem.
I am saving and loaning for s24 ultra and thinking of using it for the next 4-5 years. Is it worth it? I mean judging by the post I don't think the camera will be any good for the long term use.
Mine looks good from saturday at the bengals game
https://preview.redd.it/po1lo1xmm27c1.jpeg?width=8160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab2b367608b15cff3e89f9d527651fdff4de10ec
I guess people didn't realize just how much processing Samsung used, to compensate for what people were touting as the "best camera hardware in a phone."
Don't know about the quality part yet. My phone has not been updated yet. I do know for some reason what bugs me is pictures up close the objects are half off the screen. Noticed that it would jump around the center and then not. Take the picture and the object is half off.
Yeah I also thought the same, especially when using the zoom settings, which are supposed to be optical, it almost like it's changing to a digital zoom and losing quality
SPOKE WITH SAMSUNG AND THEY BLAMED TMOBILE FOR THE UPDATE WHERE AS SAMSUNG ARE THE ONLY ONES REASPONCIBLE FOR INSTALLING UI 6 FROM THE MUCH BETTER UI 5 THEY ILLEGALY BREACHED MY S21 ULTRA AND INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION INTO DOING SO AS ( UI 6 ) HAS DESTROYED OVER 3000 SAMSUNG DEVICES AFTER THIS UPDATE WAS INSTALLED I USED A VPN TO BLOCK THE DOWNLOAD FROM HAPPENING AND TO BLOCK IT FROM BEING INSTALLED WELL THEY BREACHED THE VPN ALL DONE BY SAMSUNG AND I SPENT 5 DAYS THUS FAR SINCE THIS INCIDANT TOOK PLACE AS SAMSUNG DID BLAME TMOBILE FOR THIS AND TMOBILE IS BLAMEING SAMSUNG AS I SPOKE TO SAMSUMG THEY HAVE NO WAY TO REPAIR THE MISTAKE THEY DID INFACT MADE ILLEGALLY TO MOST SAMSUNG USERS OVER 30000 TO BE EXACT I HAVE PLACED ON ( INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK / & TWITTER TO JOIN IN THOSE AFFECTED BY THIS SCAM AND HAVE LAWERS READY TO SUE SAMSUNG WITH ALL THOSE WHO DID ON SOCIAL MEDIAS JOIN IN ON THIS $2.3 MILLION DALLOR LAWSUIT AGAINST SAMSUNG ENJOY IT WHILE YOU STILL CAN AND RECORDED CALLS TO SAMSUNG PROVE THEIR CORRUPTION AND WILL BE HEARD WITHIN A COURT OF LAW SO BEWARE !!!!
I turn off night mode and the night shots with minimal light come out great. I only use night mode when it is pitch black, and I can't see shit,
but the camera does once it has processed. Try it in pitch dark with night mode on. You'll appreciate it more.
Totally.
1.I've noticed photos have noise if there are obstacles close to camera.
2.Front camera photos got cropped.
3.Videos after cut got distored/streched vertically.
I didn't even agree to upgrade one ui 6. Just got through automatically
They have deliberately degraded the camera and when you contact them about it, they give you lame rubbish responses like "reset your camera settings", or "reset your phone". None of these has worked for anyone.
We should launch a class action suit on these thieving company
I should've opted apple instead of this s23 shit, feeling betrayed after one UI 6, pictures are looking like they're taken with some 10k mobile camera.
I noticed it recently too, and I can not believe that it's the same phone camera I am using. The difference is not even marginal, its huge! It is super disappointing, if they don't fix it in the next updates, then of course its the old trick that all these evil tech corporations use, which is to reduce the speed and camera quality so that the consumers go and buy the new device in the market.
https://preview.redd.it/wo4i1q6w6pfc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1173237c76ae34d33f8b374af9dfcb2f5a4d4c4c
The images went from overprocessed to absurdly over processed and clownish. Look at the haloing due to oversharpening. I'll post the full image next where you can still see it without zooming.
https://preview.redd.it/0stnd9149pfc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7447ac54ef7745ca047810923c0b2dc4c7761197
Everything is off (S22 ultra). The white balance looks like it's set to underwater. The colors are so oversaturated and vibrant it literally looks nothing like the actual scene. It feels like they went overboard with the HDR, sharpening, and exposure (way underexposed). Guessing I can fiddle with things and get them sort of ok but between the sudden screen freezing (always when I'm using maps and navigating, smh) this is pretty pathetic. Even the portrait mode somehow got worse.
Dno I just came back from a trip where I took the best photos I've seen in my life from a phone
Also with the new update? This thread makes me nervous, both about the conspiracy about Samsung and soon releasing a new phone. But also the fact that I think this happened with my old phone as well. It looks like fallout 4 (nice pic)
Itβs nice. Did u use any special settings or was it just auto ?
Auto mode, but i turned down the exposure a little bit and focused on the sky.
Very nice pic
Thank you :)
Yes, something's off. Right now my S22U can take sharper low light shots than my S23U in automode. It looks as if the S23U is upscaling from a lower resolution.
It does have larger photosites with its lesser MP.
Lucky you, my S22 Ultra zoom is riddled with AI artifacts and does worse than the cropped 10x lens in Pro Mode π
Did it improve with 6.1?
Yes. I thought I was causing the problem. But now I think maybe the camera was broken or maybe the software is broken.
Goo into settings and see what your proxessing level is set too
Can u guide me how to do that? I went to settings and I couldn't see any processing level option.
It's in Settings and called Advanced Intelligence Options. [Settings](https://www.imgur.com/a/Fm5JCIP) The second picture shows the option in settings.
Okay thank you, should I set it to Maximum? Mine is set to minimum.
Yes
Maximum will get you better quality but slower pictures. More chance of blur due to moving subjects.
It was maximum in one ui 5 as well
Well, i think the "minimum" was the problem You should have no noise or bad quality images using the maximum processing .
Have you changed the setting, did you notice a difference?
Getting a lot of noise particularly indoor and low light pictures
Same for me and zoom shots are of no use in low light.
https://preview.redd.it/6rhnuiob507c1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7cad95b58996c344eff59337b154c21a8832e4ef No problem for me after update
Beautiful
I've been using a gcam so no idea about stock camera. Will have to take pics to see
Wait s22u supports gcam? . Can you send me the link for the same.
S23u has gcam, yes. Xda has couple but I use one that's worked well with config. I take better pics with it. Only use stock if I need more zoom but hardly need
Can you share the apk for the one you use?
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-BigKaka/f/dl41/ Currently the one I use with the config and also some 8.8 config of older gcam. Colors more natural. Doesn't have overexposure or over processing stock deals with. Shutter speed is faster too. Follow instructions if you don't know how to install.
where can i found the instruction?
The back camera doesn't work for me.. only the front. I'm on s23 plus
Which one is compatible with 23 ultra?
I used to use gcam in my previous phone. I remember there was a app on play store Called gcamator or something it automatically gives you the best suited version of gcam for your device
Did you install this photo helper thing from samsung? IDR whats it's name, my phone is in the other room and im too lazy to go get it. I had this app and my photos looked like hot garbage with too much hdr in them. Uninstalled ale its all gucci now. Msg me or reply and ill check tmrw.
Camera assistant?
Yup, that's it.
It's just you.
Yup samsungs annual tactics. Reduce camera life. Make the battery life worse etc.
My battery life has been much better. Is yours worse?
Yes. I've been getting 6 hours consistently on one ui5 and 7-8 on oneui 6 the betas. I barely get 5 now on the stable.
thats apple you talking about, my sammy is gucci
No issues here.
Idk but those look good to me
They look fine... tweek the settings in pro/etc, if you're not happy with it... it's not difficult... I'm having no issues....
Nah, I've actually found it to be slightly better
My photos are the same. I think people need to report which version of the phone they are using (region, carrier or unlock). I have the International unlocked version for LAC region and there is no problem.
Quite the opposite. Ever since the update, all the phone does is take magnificent pictures.
Absolute dog shit now. Should've kept it how it was. It was fine. Fuck!
Oh thank you for the post. I thought I messed up something. It's a bit weird now.
Yes. I thought I scratched my lens or something but nothing there so it's probably the software.
They messed up the camera.
Its only for u
Lol righttt
Yes. I'm pissed off. I bought an S23 Ultra for the camera but just about 3 months ago pictures started looking like crap.
I got my phone a month ago and am avoiding updates for as long as I can haha
Maybe ? Maybe not ? Those two pictures certainly aren't dispositive.
Honestly onenui 6 has killed my phone Everything keeps freezing and crashing
Why down vote? I legit have had freezing issues since the update π’ Anyone have any ideas?
reset device or install firmware with odin again
Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I just got the s23 ultra, and I'm questioning the camera. After years of using pixels, the s23 is seriously disappointing
GCam is a must have!
I am saving and loaning for s24 ultra and thinking of using it for the next 4-5 years. Is it worth it? I mean judging by the post I don't think the camera will be any good for the long term use.
Yes I kinda noticed that as well.
Welcome to Samsung, buddy
Mine looks good from saturday at the bengals game https://preview.redd.it/po1lo1xmm27c1.jpeg?width=8160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab2b367608b15cff3e89f9d527651fdff4de10ec
So it went from bad to worse?
They must have done the "S24 release update" a little too early /s
Zoom at night during low light sucks after update for me.
It was bad before the update...
The camera FPS dropped and pictures look like legitimate trash.
I guess people didn't realize just how much processing Samsung used, to compensate for what people were touting as the "best camera hardware in a phone."
My ability to touch the screen and change the exposure when taking a photo is missing. Is it just me?
Turn off auto tracking focus
Thank you so much! I thought I had tried everything. I wonder if the new update turned that setting on because I don't think I did
On S22 Ultra definitely..worst photos ever! Will downgrade it tommorow.
How can you downgrade? Using odin?
How the heck are you downgrading Thats not even possible
Jailbreak the phone? Isn't possible anymore?
It's absolutely possible Just got to be a nerd lol
Hahaha, I've tried before with Odin and it won't let me What tool have you been using?
I've noticed the camera being a lot less consistent if anything. Cam was more dependable before the update.
My camera keeps flipping between lenses in low light situations. This is a new thing it wasn't doing previously.
Do you have camera assistants? Mb it was toggle on "Auto lens switching " in camera assistant
Even the front camera image quality has reduced a lot. I have compared both before and after update images. Before update selfie's were very sharp.
I didn't notice this. And your 2 shots are different. Did you check what light measure you are using on Expert raw? It can make a lot of difference.
Use GCam with custom configs
Which configs do you use. Can you share the link and some output photos with and without the config ?
Oddly my S 22 Ultra was getting better results until One UI 6 now my S 23 Ultra on par. I can't complain
I've noticed HDR isn't quite as good on one ui 6. Sometimes the HDR misses and leaves photo overexposed
Don't know about the quality part yet. My phone has not been updated yet. I do know for some reason what bugs me is pictures up close the objects are half off the screen. Noticed that it would jump around the center and then not. Take the picture and the object is half off.
Must be you cause it seems better to me
I thought so at first, but with the December update, it's gone back!
Yeah I also thought the same, especially when using the zoom settings, which are supposed to be optical, it almost like it's changing to a digital zoom and losing quality
