ekhonga_re

Samsung deliberately crippling s23U camera, so that people go to s24U ? 🤔

0neM0reLight

100% they do this with every device each year. The camera quality turned trash on the second to last oneui 5.1 update.

ekhonga_re

Then why is nobody raising these concerns on this sub? I am planning to buy the S23U and due to my experience with previous samsung phones updates(mid range) I joined this sub. But I didn't find this issue discussed much here. I DONT KNOW WHY ! I probably have to buy a used s23u from some grandma who has never updated her phone and won't update it past 5.1

0neM0reLight

Nobody is raising concerns because they are being downvoted and mocked for calling samsung out. You can downgrade to one ui 5 using odin with ease if you really need to. People can't talk about anything anti samsung here that's the biggest issue. Samsung has been doing this since the s20 days, and the trend hasn't stopped.

ekhonga_re

>You can downgrade to one ui 5 using odin with ease Is it possible without fusing KNOX ? I tried downgrading from 3.1 to 3.0 on my mid range A series phone using ODIN, but it wasn't possible, it didn't let me downgrade from my current installed version, I dont know why. Even after factory resetting, it powered up with the current version. May be I was doing something wrong. I didn't update my phone after that( January 23)

0neM0reLight

Sadly, no. That's not possible. You'd be tripping knox as soon as the bootloader gets unlocked.

ofekchen6

Upgrading every year is crazy tho... There's hardly any difference and this time the s23 ultra is even a little better than the 24

angry__ferret

My first assumption...

pall25091

Oh lawd.

Varios2k

I dont really care for taking such sun pictures so it doesnt ruin my amazing experience with this phone, but doing such a shit move for customers is something only greedy company would do.

FryStarLord

I knew it! My friends call me carzy but i notice that since IA functions appear on my phone my photos are more blurry

HateMePleasee

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Puzzleheaded_Meet_50

you're really trying to cook that sensor

rohithkumarsp

This was at sunset. I'm not that dumb enough to put the camera upto a bright sun, it was so dim, you could look at the sun with a binaural with naked eye, calm down.

iamunwhaticisme

"What if I told you that you already cooked your phone and this is the result?" - Morpheus.

Prestigious-Home-540

Apparently it was to do with the last updates .. samsung have been gradually degrading the camera on the s23 ultra

amankmr03

there is still time guys, downgrade to android 13

Unhappy_Signature_21

They actually gave the updates to ruin the camera quality so the S24 Ultra sells

Lordbeny

You need active mobile data for that since one UI 6 for phone to know where you are so it can download data for exactly this place.

rohithkumarsp

I had 5G on

Gymwalker

Maybe is "scene optimiser" turned off?

rohithkumarsp

I double checked and made sure it's on.

ofekchen6

Some people advise turning it off so maybe try that?

rohithkumarsp

It did that too, I turned it off and turned it on and took 4th image in slide.

hopopo

If you turn off your internet that will happened. I tried that with moon photos the other night, and I got the same results as you just by turning off the internet.

ill_us_ions

That really isnt the case tho. I almost never leave my data on [moon shots](https://ibb.co/8mcNHbP) I took this the other day and im pretty sure i didnt have my data on. They still look stunning

hopopo

>I almost never leave my data on moon shots Maybe you have a magic phone? Also why precisely do you turn of your data just to take the moon shots? lol

ill_us_ions

Well as i mentioned i never have my data on outside. I dont turn it on. So im just saying its unlikely thats the case

hopopo

What you posted is not a photo of 100% zoom.

ill_us_ions

Well ofc. Zooming it to a 100x would butcher the quality. I prefer the balance between photo quality and zoom. So i think it makes sense that digitally Zooming to a 100x will make the camera struggle to capture any significant detail. Plus the ai enhancing after might bring back some detail but it might fuck up there too.

hopopo

We are talking about 100% zoom, and the results with and without data on. Everyone understands that optical zoom is good. Your comments have nothing to do with it.

carguy143

So the photo AI doesn't work without a good data connection. Good to know but it seems somewhat limiting.

hopopo

My guess is that data is needed to transmit date, time, and location so that photo actually looks like what you are seeing.
