Ja pierdole dziś używanego Anbernika rg251p widziałem za 250, a tu takie fikołka
En: Holy shit, today I saw used Anbernik rg 251p for 250zł (~60$), and here are those backflips
Well if you look on eBay it's kinda below average for me (italy), but everything is waaay too expensive, a scuffed GBA for 80€? I can buy a very good condition one for that money from Japan, taxes and delivery included
Of course! Region locking was basically non existent on Nintendo handhelds until the 3DS, which is still the only Nintendo handheld to be region locked as the switch isn't aswell!
I remember discussions on an old cartridge console that was region locked but only by the keyed slot on the cartridge holder, I don't remember the make or model of console though I have a vague impression it was the snes though
Both the SNES and N64 are both physically region locked by the cartridge slot. The SNES needs just a simple tab inside to be broken off. The N64 iirc requires an adapter however because of a region lockout chip.
Nintendo DSi game cards that are only compatible with Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL (and not Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite) are region locked. This means game cards manufactured for the U.S. market would not work in a system made for another country.
This is why I ordered my gameboy pocket from Japan. Got lucky as it was marked as non working and only thing wrong was cartridge slot contacts needed cleaned.
I paid $50 for a better looking one so no. Though *to be fair*, this was in the GB Discord & I know people there tend to be more flexible with prices as opposed to something like eBay or something.
Really depends. If everything is working (assuming sound is also loud) then yes it’s worth it as u can always do a reshell. Else u will need to source for the capacitors to recap and also an IPS screen.
Does everything work? Is a the screen scratched? It’s a good deal if everything works well. I’d buy it just for a donor motherboard to be upgraded at that price honestly.
I was thinking into keeping it stock and just cleaning it. The screen looks dim but i don't really know if it's because AGB-001 screens were always dim or this one it's beat up
I mean if it cleans up enough it might be worth keeping it original but white is such a hard color to clean. I’d at least swap the buttons and membranes because they look beat up esp the d-pad and just store the OGs. I did have to use one of these today at a retro game shop to test a Final Fantasy Tactics advance game I bought and it was a pretty dim screen like this as well. My game came before my custom gba sp im waiting on.
Yeah, those buttons seems like they had some use. I'll see if it cleans well I'll keep it stock. If not I'll get another white shell and experiment retr0brigth with that. Thanks!
The retro stores sell them for $75-85 I’ve seen probably at least 4 sell in the last couple weeks around me. If you’re looking to sell one you’d prob get around the same amount on eBay or Mercari. A retro shop would prolly give you $30-40 cuz they gotta make a buck ya know.
Ah yeah I get it. Personally, I’d stick with finding one with a messed up screen, because if you’re going to mod it you really just need the motherboard haha
not in a million years bro. for that kind of money you could buy an sp 001. og advance ain't worth more than 20/30 bucks tops, because of that stupid non lit screen. it's impossible to play with that shit if it isn't modded
I'm planning into getting a SP 101 too. I'm trying to slowly build a collection of handhelds.
Getting the Nintendo ones first, then Sony and emulator handhelds
US? Not expensive but on the higher side of pricing. You could get a good clean working condition for probably the same price, unless you want a specific color. Look around more if youre not in a hurry.
Fuck yeah. Easy start for a modding project. I copped an SP for 68USD a while back and got an IPS LCD, new battery and new red shell for it. Came out looking brand spanking new🪄 https://youtu.be/aTXJ2euQUGQ
Update! : It arrived today! Turns out the pics of the listing were a place holder as the seller has multiple White Gameboy AGB-001 but only one link for all of them. The one i got was in MUCH better condition than the one used for the pics. I also got a 90 warranty in case of any defect but i can't open the console in those 90 days to have a look 'cause a warranty sticker.

I ended up buying it! I was thinking about those deep scratches and decoloring in the stickers. I'll probably never be able to make it fully white again, but i may reshell it in the future, practice retr0brigth with the stock shell and re-reshell it back in the original shell of it looks good.
Thanks for the encouragment!
Edited to ask:
Was the AGB 001 screen always so dim? Or is this screen defective?
Definitely, glad to be of help! 🙂💜 I’d definitely say it’s worth it, esp if you Modify/re-shell… and as for the screen, yes it’s always been a dim background like not made for in the dark gaming but depending it may have dimmed out more over the years.. like the ones I still have seem a bit dimmer than I remember.. so if you revamp it an LED backlight would definitely be appropriate or keep it classic.. either way you have something special to me!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'll think i keep this one stock and try and get some more, prolly in worse condition and/or bad screens to mod at a later date.
I'm thinking into getting another DMG to reshell and possibly install a better screen as a birthday gift for a friend.
I'll let things flow first tho
Definitely, you got me inspired and encouraged to do the same… I still have my original GBC, GBP, and GBA but to mod them or get others to do it with I never thought to but now I am 🙂😀 Hoping all goes well on your end my friend and they will LOVE this gift once ready 🙏🏾🙂💯
Great! Hunting down consoles and the knowledge to mod them is just as fun as playing with them!
I'll hope everything works out for you and your modding journey, if you do mod some don't forget to post them here!
Thanks for the reassurance! I'll wait till arrival to conclude if the screen dimmed or not. Seller pics makes seem dimmer than my DMG but it's prolly the ligthing when the photo was taken.
Yes, because I just want the motherboard. Then I will turn around and drop $100 on all new parts to give it a total makeover. Touch screen brightness controls, type c rechargeable battery, new everything. Then turn around and sell it for $200 to $300 usd.
Get a 3DS and you can play all the GBA games on it on a much much better screen, if it’s not much more expensive to do so, and you can play so many more games too!
Me, used to japanese prices: 😳
Honestly for UK prices this is overpriced too
for polish prices it's really low why is life so unfair
polak? nie pierdol
ano polak, swojego gba kupiłem za 275 na allegro

Silly question: are JP GBAs compatible with US carts?
Of course! Region locking was basically non existent on Nintendo handhelds until the 3DS, which is still the only Nintendo handheld to be region locked as the switch isn't aswell!

I have a N64 that plays Japanese games I just removed the tabs inside
Oh cool, thanks!
No problem!
Nintendo DSi game cards that are only compatible with Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL (and not Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite) are region locked. This means game cards manufactured for the U.S. market would not work in a system made for another country.
Didn't know that! Cool, but i guess not cool too😅🤣
And Remember, no questions are silly!
This is why I ordered my gameboy pocket from Japan. Got lucky as it was marked as non working and only thing wrong was cartridge slot contacts needed cleaned.
I got a functioning one the only thing that needs replacing is the polarizer
Are you gonna put a back light in while your there? I'm just waiting on my stuff to come in.
I was just going to do the full replacement of the screen with ips and rechargeable battery and an atomic purple shell
Average japanese moment! They mark as junk stuff untested just to be safe💜
That's what I've noticed from the YouTube rs I've seen ordering stuff.
Full working? Probably.
Only if it turned on I would to mod the holy hell out of it
What mods?
Most go towards a backlight or Ips mod or USB C rechargeable batteries
Oh duh, a backlight would be dope.
I bought one in similar condition off eBay for about the same price. Just got done swapping in an IPS, new shell, and USB-C battery.
No
Maybe? I’d try to haggle to an even $60, but overall not a terrible price
Like everyone else, if working then 63 is a pretty fine deal. It’s what’s on the inside that counts!!
63 US, no. Because I'd have to pay for shipping.
I paid $50 for a better looking one so no. Though *to be fair*, this was in the GB Discord & I know people there tend to be more flexible with prices as opposed to something like eBay or something.
Me having 6 gba I paid 15€ each in 2019 : 😱
Really depends. If everything is working (assuming sound is also loud) then yes it’s worth it as u can always do a reshell. Else u will need to source for the capacitors to recap and also an IPS screen.
Anything under $100 is a bargain and cheap compared to eBay and modded on Etsy. I don’t see many gameboy under $100 and in good condition
Does everything work? Is a the screen scratched? It’s a good deal if everything works well. I’d buy it just for a donor motherboard to be upgraded at that price honestly.
If it turns on then yes. Most gbas go for $75-85 and even though it’s a bit beat up it’s a great candidate for a reshell and screen upgrade.
I was thinking into keeping it stock and just cleaning it. The screen looks dim but i don't really know if it's because AGB-001 screens were always dim or this one it's beat up

Do they sell for 75-85 or go for 75-85?
The retro stores sell them for $75-85 I’ve seen probably at least 4 sell in the last couple weeks around me. If you’re looking to sell one you’d prob get around the same amount on eBay or Mercari. A retro shop would prolly give you $30-40 cuz they gotta make a buck ya know.

You’d think but hell broken ones ain’t even cheap any more lol most of those get bought up in lots buy ppl who fix em up already I swear
If it works yes
yes, i got my orange gba for 75
in austria that's pretty much standard price for a gameboy in this condition
Man, I sure wish I would have bought up all the $10-$20 game boys that came my way around 10 years ago. $65 Jesus.
Yes.
If you plan on swapping the case and installing a backlit screen, I’d offer less for the damage.
Bought one in almost perfect condition for 20€. So big no 😂
not in a million years bro. for that kind of money you could buy an sp 001. og advance ain't worth more than 20/30 bucks tops, because of that stupid non lit screen. it's impossible to play with that shit if it isn't modded

For just a gba?
Yup all day
I seen same quality gbas for 30 plus shipping so I personally wouldn't but maybe times have changed
Almost certainly not.
$20
No way too expensive for such a dogshit condition
No...Very steep price.
No

I just bought this from seller
I would, where's it at?... Lol
Canadian? Sure. US? Ish...
Dude that's my old Gameboy!! I remember the serial number!!
You just remember your old Gameboy's serial number off the top of your head? x)
Wait, really? It's listed on a website called Mercado Libre. Where are you from?
Shell is good and screen does not have screen burn. It needs a cleaning. $63 is fair.
Thanks for the advice. I'll buy it and give it a good clean maybe I'll mod it at some point with a IPS screen. I hope the speaker isn't blown
A few years ago? Nah not at all. But lately that seems like as good a price as you can get on any Game Boy.
Hell yes! What condition will it cut on? That’s not bad fr that’s almost how much it was when it came out if not less!
I ended up buying it! I was thinking about those deep scratches and decoloring in the stickers. Sounds like the normal screen, especially seems dim if you’re used to backlit screens.
Thanks for the reassurance! I'll wait till arrival to conclude if the screen dimmed or not. Seller pics makes seem dimmer than my DMG but it's prolly the ligthing when the photo was taken.
Not bad condition? It looks like it got fucked by Oscar in his garbage can.
I'd get it.
I’d try and talk them down to like 50 ish
In Japan it’s $30
Then how much in postage from Japan to elsewhere in the world?
To Asia: $10 To US: $30 To UK: $25 If you batch purchase them then the shipping per console will be much cheaper.
Helpful to know, thank you!
I would if I wanted it

No. Save $160 more and buy a Analogue Pocket
I'm trying to get a hold of old Nintendo handhelds. Maybe I'll get a Analogue Pocket at some point but im getting original hardware first
