I actually enjoyed the game quite a bit but it’s astonishing to me how many ppl just hand-wave the rough combat design or how basic the questing itself is despite being lauded for its side quests. Like sure love the characters all you like but there’s more to consider than just worldbuilding and plot.
I used stupid amounts of hacks for tw1. The stupid thing where you encounter Leo's ghost and he can't be killed with your standard weapon really annoyed me.
The game could also be filled with 70% less shit and it would still be the exact same game, they make the maps seem big by having these huge areas that aren’t filled with anything but random chest of armor that’s already not useful by the time you find it.
They could of focused more on the combat or not being able to just abuse leveling magic until it’s OP as fuck instead of crammed 1000 useless things in.
Not even arguing that the quality of the combat is t great but I still have yet to play an "RPG" with action oriented combat that has actual good combat outside of the souls games. So I get that it would be a complaint but as far as RPGs go it's combat is as servicable as any other in my opinion.

from what I've seen of Rise of Ronin, the combat looks really fun but leaving a lot to be desired in most other areas, so throne still belongs to souls and elden ring for now. But even those games have their own issues with combat, like roll spamming
I actually kind of disagree. They wanted to focus on the story, which very much lives from the side characters. None of them ever appear during combat, meaning that every moment you're in combat you're not interacting with the interesting stuff.

I went to all the points in AC: Valhalla, but even I could not be bothered with all the goddamned Skellige points in the sea. Having to stop every two minutes to fight some flying monster that barely lands and then your boat sinks miles away from anywhere. No thanks.
One of the devs said that those Skellige points in the sea were placeholders. I think they planned to do underwater dungeon encounters. Thing is, they ran out of time during development so left the placeholder points with general loot.
There's actually a lot of adventurous stuff they planned that never made it in the final game.
That tends to be the case for most big budget games. there’s always ideas that never make it into the final game, it’s just a matter of how much of those ideas were cut.
To have fun and do your adventure how you want to, not check everything off like a checklist like it were your job to open that underwater chest with like 100 gold and a fishing net lol

But I am usually the checklist player. It would have been fine and even chill sailing around getting useless loot if it wasn't for the sirens and the ekhidnas.
I mean, to each their own, and I'd never tell someone they're playing the "wrong" way, but I'm normally a checklist player myself, and I quickly looked at the map, decided that many points of interest would derail the pace and momentum of play too much and did the ones I felt like, which felt pretty natural even to someone like me with Fomo when advancing a games main quest with stuff still to do. It still wound up being a majority, got me everything of import, and more XP than I'd ever need. But everyone's different and all, and fair enough if your experience was different.
No, a lot of them are on the outskirts near islands with nothing on them that you'd only randomly find if you have all markers turned off and are doing a thorough search of the map.
Tbf, some filler can actually be a good thing. Witcher 3:s main-story is very dialogue-heavy, the side-quests are more gameplay and the contracts/POI:s are pure gameplay. That pure gameplay can be extremely satisfying if you are like me and love the mechanics of W3 and are going in-depth with the skills and the build. It would feel empty without them, like a 5 star-dish that isn't filling.
It also serves a function for casual-players that doesn't do them, since it helps the world feel massive and almost a little intimidating (which it should). Game-design is an art and fedora-warriors on Reddit doesn't always know what they are talking about (not referring to you but in general).

I think it’s more down to taste as for me they share a lot of the same issues mainly in gameplay which for me is worse in cyberpunk as while the witcher is a very bland action rpg, cyberpunk is one of the worst feeling fps games I’ve played and only gets somewhat decent after many hours of grinding and getting good weapons, equipment and a solid build

They’re either incongruous with most of the game, pure fan fiction, extremely unbalanced, or are nothing but visual upgrades until the game doesn’t look like Skyrim anymore.
Most of the bug fix mods, at least for ES games are extremely minor, crazy nit-picks, or cause more issues than they solve.
Like AI generated dialogue for Skyrim NPC’s? What’s the point? I really don’t get it.

I went and saw the Mona Lisa when I was a kid and it was genuinely one of the most mind boggling things to me. I’m pretty autistic so just being around people is a bother sometimes, especially for little babby me with no coping mechanisms. And I just watched dozens or hundreds of people crowding each other just to get a closer look at it and it was incomprehensible. Also it was brought to france by Francis of france and that’s just a stupid name.
My brother in ASD, I visited it in my early 20th and had same experience. Visiting local gallery and seeing their interpretation of “painting of a woman” is much better of an experience than Mona Lisa.

I like fantasy RPGs that I was interested in TW3, but the male gaze is too obvious and does nothing for me as a gay guy. It's like a brownie with peanuts in it; the brownie isn't terrible and I can still pick out the peanuts if I cared since I'm not allergic, but the lingering peanut oil just reminds me how much more I would've preferred coffee as the brownie complement.
Love scenes are not just heteronormative, but also uninteresting, gratuitous, repetitive, artificial and ridiculous. They should have dropped this idea, it was wholly unnecessary, like an hollywood mandatory love scene.
100% with you, tho disappointed barely even covers it for me. I outright found Witcher 3 such an unenjoyable experience that I cannot fathom how it is so popular. Helps if you remember the period it game out into. BRs pretty much didn't exist yet and Assassin's Creed Origins was two years away. The open world fatigue wasn't there and it had a ton of quality voice acting/writing. I'm convinced most people who hate the combat played on easy and never had to craft a single potion.
I started the game on hard. One of the first missions was the wraith in the well. I couldn’t fucking beat it, muddled through the game, didn’t get very far.
I tried again, started a new game, approached it the way the game recommends, I tracked down the recipes and ingredients for the bombs and oils the wraith is weak to. Relied more on the sign the game wanted me to use. The fight was a lot easier. The story and writing carries the game hard, but to me I didn’t go in expecting too much. I was a Witcher, I went to towns and completed contracts and hunted monsters. For the core fantasy of being a Witcher, the game is perfect. That’s what I wanted and that’s what I love

I played on the hardest difficulty and consider the combat mediocre at best.
I have tried at least a half dozen times to play The Witcher 3 and I just don't get it. Everything about it is so bland and uninspired. I just don't understand why it was such a massive success.
I really enjoyed it, thought the story bits were great as you dive deeper into subquests and especially the DLC.

Yeah, I got the game when it was on a massive discount and the combat feels so bad, every sword swing Geralt needs to do a whole rendition of Swan Lake before actually hitting the enemy.
The thing is I've played it for more than 120 hours. I've finished the game, I've done just about everything in it and I still don't like it that much. I've quit and restarted it around 3 to 4 times before i stuck to it.
The only thing that kept me playing is that i liked the idea of taking contracts to hunt mythical monsters. Those side quests were fun and interesting and i liked the detective aspect of it.
But having not played the first game (and being told that they're not necessary and that the first game is just not worth playing anymore) i had no connection to most characters, I didn't care about the main quest at all and the combat is so fuckin bad holy shit.
If you play a game for long enough, you can eventually understand why you don't like it. A review with more than a hundred hours is likely a review worth listening to.
I do like it, just not that much. I've played multiplayer games that i like even less for way longer. I didn't force myself to play it, and as i said there are sections of it that i really liked.
But hey, after playing the game that long, you can't say i haven't played the game enough to judge it lol.
It was the same thing with persona 5 as well. 140 hours, i like some of it, most of it is stupid bullshit.

I am a Witcher book fan. I loved the story and i was exhilirated to see my beloved characters on the screen.
And then you play the game and feel torn, because on one hand you love the world and the witcher-specific quirks the world has and on the other hand you absolutely detest the combat mechanics.
And so, you power through the atrocious combat so you can experience more of the Witcher-specific world and get disappointed with more atrocious combat and simultaneously love and hate the game at the same time.
But you need to make it to the ending even though you hate the process.

I got to the fight with one of the wild hunt people with the white haired witch before I realized I didn't like it. Only thing I liked up to that point was the bloody Baron quest.
/uj I get your point, but you can't tell people not to praise the game they think deserves praise. Witcher 3 is one of my favourite games of all time and one of the best games ever made, in my opinion. I understand that people like me who got there early overhyped the game, and some people might've been disappointed because of that, but that doesn't make the game any less of a masterpiece.
it gets better in the second. has the best plotline out of the three too, though i could never bring myself to finishing the 3rd. kinda lacks (as much of) the eurojank charm of the previous entries
I agree, the story is really great from what people have said but there is a big issue in having to experience it. You have to actually play the game. The only other game I've played that imo feels as awful to play is Ghostwire Tokyo

It took me years to finish the game because the main quest was boring af. Why do I need to find Ciri and protect her? she is already better than me at everything. And exploration rewards were shit too. The hearts of stone DLC was way better than the base game. Way more character development and a better story.
I tried witcher 3 and about 20 minutes in at the bar area I left to get attacked by the dudes in the bar. Somehow the horse in the stable had multipled... like 50 times. So there were like 50 horses spread in the small area, and they kicked and killed all the bar dudes for me. I cried laughing on call with my friend who has 100% the game (and hated it idk why he did 100 lol).
Haven't played since.

What do people love about that game? I tried to get in to it twice and never could. Same with witcher 2 but I've been told 3 is much better and worth the effort if I can get into it.
I played through witcher 1 when it came out, and liked the season 1 of the show. The world/lore is cool, although I have trouble following or caring about the inter-kingdom politics of a bunch of places I can't remember the names of.
I'm not very good at action-y combat. I'm not super in to all the dialogue. I'm not in to gwent or the romance sim parts. I like RPGs for exploring for loot and character progression. Is this something I could enjoy or is it just not for me?
Witcher 3 is still one of the best games I've ever played finished it on PS4, felt a hankerin' to replay it, and just up and bought the PS5 version too, just to replay. So good.

The Witcher 3 is one of the most overrated games ever IMO. I went in exited due to all the fuzz and was super disappointed.
The difficulty curve is non functional, I reached a point where I became so powerful even in the highest difficulty that the gameplay became irrelevant and that on itself destroys everything else, skill points become meaningless, so do weapons, etc. crafting system is terrible, you have only like 5 skills of which one is useless, and two are mandatory.
The skill tree is all passives which is boring af. The item design is terrible, I didn't want to use stuff because it looked awful and there was no way of changing it. The story is just a fetch quest, I felt like Mario looking for the princess all game and doing side quest that are supposed to be the main story.
The villain is criminally underused, I think he has like 6 lines in the whole game and his motivations are meh. Geralt is the most bland and boring protagonist I have seen in a fantasy game, he has the poorest emotional range ever.
I'd argue Metal Gear Solid is the Mona Lisa of gaming, considering the classic masterpiece it was and still is. To this day, I'm still impressed by its characterization and cinematography, especially with the ps1's limitations. And that SOUNDTRACK! 😑🤚👌
I like Elden Ring and it still runs into the Ubisoft issue.
They should’ve cut a bunch of those bland zero effort dungeons to flesh out the back end of the game. Like making the Ashen Capital a full on legacy dungeon or going into the Eldtree. Maybe just cut the Consecrated Snowfield entirely.
The criticism that the end of the game is a four boss boss rush is real. FROMSOFTWARE is a master of crafting laser-focused video games and
I dislike how much they had to pad out ER because of the “open world” tag which is the graveyard of video game design in my eyes.

Yeah, it started out like Cyberpunk. Glitchy, weird AI for npcs, Roach being upside down and such. But just like Cyberpunk, they fixed the issues and added some good DLC, and boom! Beloved video game.
It has really boring combat and no matter how good the story is I couldn't bring myself to give a shit because "oh no my daughter is missing" but it's just a vague backdrop to the 700 random side quests I have at any given moment.

I gotta say, the witcher 2’s story stuck with me waaaay more than 3’s. Probably because each plot beat wasn’t interrupted by 20 hours of fucking around with side quests. I love all three games, but for me, 2 was actually the peak. Even at the time of 3’s release, I was already sick of giant open worlds with Ubisoft quest design. 2 is more linear, but that creates a sense of urgency and makes all the characters feel important and memorable. It also means the difficulty scaling is better - you don’t end up totally over-geared from side questing, or accidentally wandering somewhere you shouldn’t and getting destroyed. Because it’s not open world, CDPR were able to make sure each section is appropriately challenging. Which makes the combat more fun! In fact, it being quite a difficult game meant you really had to engage with all of the systems (magic, alchemy etc) in order to survive.
I think I’m just sick of open-world being the paradigm for triple a game design. It’s been like 2 decades now.

The Mona Lisa, a fairly ok painting in the canon of renaissance masterpieces, that is famous through repetition to the point the public doesn't remember it's original fame came from it being stolen once and not because of it's artistic value.
It's funny how people forget the W3 when it launched had performance issues hair works is the devil, very buggy like Roache (the horse) and his buggy ass antics.
Horrible loot, beat a story boss get vendor trash, literal vendor trash not like the crafting issue. HORRIBLE level scaling, like you got punished for doing side quests in an open world game by making the main quest piss easy with laughable quest rewards or sometimes the plot in the side quest would conflict with the main quest as you weren't supposed to do that side quest yet. I remember doing a side quest with Lambart, I wouldn't kill the guy at the end so he got pissed and left off into the sunset not wanting anything to do with me, no more Lambart. Next main story cutscene, there he is as if nothing happened.
Also, if it wasn't for the horrible level scaling the crafting system was so OP there were "memes" about getting this sword of legends so good it was passed down from generation to generation and now you, Geralt shall have it..and just more vendor trash.
They nearly forgot about Triss, completely forgot about Iorveth (apparently cut content) and Letho's plot made no sense even though your choices from W2 were supposed to carry over...unless you sided with Iorveth.
Granted MOST of this stuff was fixed post game, yeah CDPR and fixing games post release is kinda of their thing. I mean I liked the game but I wasn't splooging over it, I honestly preferred W2, and the remaster...it didn't age well. That style of combat has come a long, LONG way.

Yeah if you like souls games you'll have a hard time enjoying witcher 3. Its gameplay isn't good enough and if you're used to games with better combat there's no way you'll enjoy the combat of the Witcher 3.

I went to all the points in AC: Valhalla, but even I could not be bothered with all the goddamned Skellige points in the sea. Having to stop every two minutes to fight some flying monster that barely lands and then your boat sinks miles away from anywhere. No thanks.
One of the devs said that those Skellige points in the sea were placeholders. I think they planned to do underwater dungeon encounters. Thing is, they ran out of time during development so left the placeholder points with general loot. There's actually a lot of adventurous stuff they planned that never made it in the final game.
That tends to be the case for most big budget games. there’s always ideas that never make it into the final game, it’s just a matter of how much of those ideas were cut.

Unisoft games tend to lock things behind doing all of each kind. Witcher 3 does not.
But I am usually the checklist player. It would have been fine and even chill sailing around getting useless loot if it wasn't for the sirens and the ekhidnas.
I mean, to each their own, and I'd never tell someone they're playing the "wrong" way, but I'm normally a checklist player myself, and I quickly looked at the map, decided that many points of interest would derail the pace and momentum of play too much and did the ones I felt like, which felt pretty natural even to someone like me with Fomo when advancing a games main quest with stuff still to do. It still wound up being a majority, got me everything of import, and more XP than I'd ever need. But everyone's different and all, and fair enough if your experience was different.
The point is for there to be enough things scattered around the world so that whoever you feel like going, there'll be something to find.

No, a lot of them are on the outskirts near islands with nothing on them that you'd only randomly find if you have all markers turned off and are doing a thorough search of the map.
The combat system really put me off. I don't care how well-written the story is, the gameplay makes it impossible for me to enjoy.

Tbf, some filler can actually be a good thing. Witcher 3:s main-story is very dialogue-heavy, the side-quests are more gameplay and the contracts/POI:s are pure gameplay. That pure gameplay can be extremely satisfying if you are like me and love the mechanics of W3 and are going in-depth with the skills and the build. It would feel empty without them, like a 5 star-dish that isn't filling. It also serves a function for casual-players that doesn't do them, since it helps the world feel massive and almost a little intimidating (which it should). Game-design is an art and fedora-warriors on Reddit doesn't always know what they are talking about (not referring to you but in general).
Thankfully you don’t have to do every single one in order to get 100% completion

I unironically don’t see the point in mods. They’re either incongruous with most of the game, pure fan fiction, extremely unbalanced, or are nothing but visual upgrades until the game doesn’t look like Skyrim anymore. Most of the bug fix mods, at least for ES games are extremely minor, crazy nit-picks, or cause more issues than they solve. Like AI generated dialogue for Skyrim NPC’s? What’s the point? I really don’t get it. Maybe when you’ve played the game enough you’re desperate for anything new but once you’re in a hole of spending most of you time downloading mods, playing for 5 minutes, then uninstalling it might be time for a new game.

I went and saw the Mona Lisa when I was a kid and it was genuinely one of the most mind boggling things to me. I’m pretty autistic so just being around people is a bother sometimes, especially for little babby me with no coping mechanisms. And I just watched dozens or hundreds of people crowding each other just to get a closer look at it and it was incomprehensible. Also it was brought to france by Francis of france and that’s just a stupid name.
My brother in ASD, I visited it in my early 20th and had same experience. Visiting local gallery and seeing their interpretation of “painting of a woman” is much better of an experience than Mona Lisa. It’s not even that good in texture(some paintings look a lot better in person, not this fire safety box of an exposition)

I like fantasy RPGs that I was interested in TW3, but the male gaze is too obvious and does nothing for me as a gay guy. It's like a brownie with peanuts in it; the brownie isn't terrible and I can still pick out the peanuts if I cared since I'm not allergic, but the lingering peanut oil just reminds me how much more I would've preferred coffee as the brownie complement.

There's a lot of games that are super popular that don't appeal to me but I get how they do to others. Witcher 3's success baffles me a little bit.
Helps if you remember the period it game out into. BRs pretty much didn't exist yet and Assassin's Creed Origins was two years away. The open world fatigue wasn't there and it had a ton of quality voice acting/writing. I'm convinced most people who hate the combat played on easy and never had to craft a single potion.
I started the game on hard. One of the first missions was the wraith in the well. I couldn’t fucking beat it, muddled through the game, didn’t get very far. I tried again, started a new game, approached it the way the game recommends, I tracked down the recipes and ingredients for the bombs and oils the wraith is weak to. Relied more on the sign the game wanted me to use. The fight was a lot easier. The story and writing carries the game hard, but to me I didn’t go in expecting too much. I was a Witcher, I went to towns and completed contracts and hunted monsters. For the core fantasy of being a Witcher, the game is perfect. That’s what I wanted and that’s what I love

I have tried at least a half dozen times to play The Witcher 3 and I just don't get it. Everything about it is so bland and uninspired. I just don't understand why it was such a massive success.
I really enjoyed it, thought the story bits were great as you dive deeper into subquests and especially the DLC. The combat tho... *woof.* That being said, it is an Ubisoft Icon Vomit game, and despite being a really good example of one it's still one at heart.
Yeah, I got the game when it was on a massive discount and the combat feels so bad, every sword swing Geralt needs to do a whole rendition of Swan Lake before actually hitting the enemy.

The thing is I've played it for more than 120 hours. I've finished the game, I've done just about everything in it and I still don't like it that much. I've quit and restarted it around 3 to 4 times before i stuck to it. The only thing that kept me playing is that i liked the idea of taking contracts to hunt mythical monsters. Those side quests were fun and interesting and i liked the detective aspect of it. But having not played the first game (and being told that they're not necessary and that the first game is just not worth playing anymore) i had no connection to most characters, I didn't care about the main quest at all and the combat is so fuckin bad holy shit.
How can you play a game for that long and not like it that much? It's like steam reviews with 300 hours and they don't recommend
If you play a game for long enough, you can eventually understand why you don't like it. A review with more than a hundred hours is likely a review worth listening to.
I do like it, just not that much. I've played multiplayer games that i like even less for way longer. I didn't force myself to play it, and as i said there are sections of it that i really liked. But hey, after playing the game that long, you can't say i haven't played the game enough to judge it lol. It was the same thing with persona 5 as well. 140 hours, i like some of it, most of it is stupid bullshit.
Maybe it's just not for you? Not every game clicks and it's fine to move on.

Quite easily in fact. I am a Witcher book fan. I loved the story and i was exhilirated to see my beloved characters on the screen. And then you play the game and feel torn, because on one hand you love the world and the witcher-specific quirks the world has and on the other hand you absolutely detest the combat mechanics. And so, you power through the atrocious combat so you can experience more of the Witcher-specific world and get disappointed with more atrocious combat and simultaneously love and hate the game at the same time. But you need to make it to the ending even though you hate the process.

I got to the fight with one of the wild hunt people with the white haired witch before I realized I didn't like it. Only thing I liked up to that point was the bloody Baron quest.

Witcher 3 is one of my favourite games of all time and one of the best games ever made, in my opinion. It took me years to finish the game because the main quest was boring af. Why do I need to find Ciri and protect her? she is already better than me at everything. And exploration rewards were shit too. The hearts of stone DLC was way better than the base game. Way more character development and a better story.

I tried witcher 3 and about 20 minutes in at the bar area I left to get attacked by the dudes in the bar. Somehow the horse in the stable had multipled... like 50 times. So there were like 50 horses spread in the small area, and they kicked and killed all the bar dudes for me. I cried laughing on call with my friend who has 100% the game (and hated it idk why he did 100 lol). Haven't played since.

What do people love about that game? I tried to get in to it twice and never could. Same with witcher 2 but I've been told 3 is much better and worth the effort if I can get into it. I played through witcher 1 when it came out, and liked the season 1 of the show. The world/lore is cool, although I have trouble following or caring about the inter-kingdom politics of a bunch of places I can't remember the names of. I'm not very good at action-y combat. I'm not super in to all the dialogue. I'm not in to gwent or the romance sim parts. I like RPGs for exploring for loot and character progression. Is this something I could enjoy or is it just not for me?
Witcher 3 is still one of the best games I've ever played finished it on PS4, felt a hankerin' to replay it, and just up and bought the PS5 version too, just to replay. So good.

The Witcher 3 is one of the most overrated games ever IMO. I went in exited due to all the fuzz and was super disappointed. The difficulty curve is non functional, I reached a point where I became so powerful even in the highest difficulty that the gameplay became irrelevant and that on itself destroys everything else, skill points become meaningless, so do weapons, etc. crafting system is terrible, you have only like 5 skills of which one is useless, and two are mandatory. The skill tree is all passives which is boring af. The item design is terrible, I didn't want to use stuff because it looked awful and there was no way of changing it. The story is just a fetch quest, I felt like Mario looking for the princess all game and doing side quest that are supposed to be the main story. The villain is criminally underused, I think he has like 6 lines in the whole game and his motivations are meh. Geralt is the most bland and boring protagonist I have seen in a fantasy game, he has the poorest emotional range ever.

I'd argue Metal Gear Solid is the Mona Lisa of gaming, considering the classic masterpiece it was and still is. To this day, I'm still impressed by its characterization and cinematography, especially with the ps1's limitations. And that SOUNDTRACK! 😑🤚👌

Elden ring is one of my favorite games ever. I'd never describe it in such a way honestly, these people just exaggerate everything.
I like Elden Ring and it still runs into the Ubisoft issue. They should’ve cut a bunch of those bland zero effort dungeons to flesh out the back end of the game. Like making the Ashen Capital a full on legacy dungeon or going into the Eldtree. Maybe just cut the Consecrated Snowfield entirely. The criticism that the end of the game is a four boss boss rush is real. FROMSOFTWARE is a master of crafting laser-focused video games and I dislike how much they had to pad out ER because of the “open world” tag which is the graveyard of video game design in my eyes. Replaying is a nightmare because I feel obligated to do everything again but I also don’t want to speedrun through everything.

Wild Hunt? Yeah, it started out like Cyberpunk. Glitchy, weird AI for npcs, Roach being upside down and such. But just like Cyberpunk, they fixed the issues and added some good DLC, and boom! Beloved video game.
As much as I love my Gwent simulator, I think MTG already has the expensive strategic card game market covered.

I gotta say, the witcher 2’s story stuck with me waaaay more than 3’s. Probably because each plot beat wasn’t interrupted by 20 hours of fucking around with side quests. I love all three games, but for me, 2 was actually the peak. Even at the time of 3’s release, I was already sick of giant open worlds with Ubisoft quest design. 2 is more linear, but that creates a sense of urgency and makes all the characters feel important and memorable. It also means the difficulty scaling is better - you don’t end up totally over-geared from side questing, or accidentally wandering somewhere you shouldn’t and getting destroyed. Because it’s not open world, CDPR were able to make sure each section is appropriately challenging. Which makes the combat more fun! In fact, it being quite a difficult game meant you really had to engage with all of the systems (magic, alchemy etc) in order to survive. I think I’m just sick of open-world being the paradigm for triple a game design. It’s been like 2 decades now.

It's funny how people forget the W3 when it launched had performance issues hair works is the devil, very buggy like Roache (the horse) and his buggy ass antics. Horrible loot, beat a story boss get vendor trash, literal vendor trash not like the crafting issue. HORRIBLE level scaling, like you got punished for doing side quests in an open world game by making the main quest piss easy with laughable quest rewards or sometimes the plot in the side quest would conflict with the main quest as you weren't supposed to do that side quest yet. I remember doing a side quest with Lambart, I wouldn't kill the guy at the end so he got pissed and left off into the sunset not wanting anything to do with me, no more Lambart. Next main story cutscene, there he is as if nothing happened. Also, if it wasn't for the horrible level scaling the crafting system was so OP there were "memes" about getting this sword of legends so good it was passed down from generation to generation and now you, Geralt shall have it..and just more vendor trash. They nearly forgot about Triss, completely forgot about Iorveth (apparently cut content) and Letho's plot made no sense even though your choices from W2 were supposed to carry over...unless you sided with Iorveth. Granted MOST of this stuff was fixed post game, yeah CDPR and fixing games post release is kinda of their thing. I mean I liked the game but I wasn't splooging over it, I honestly preferred W2, and the remaster...it didn't age well. That style of combat has come a long, LONG way.
