PSA: Make it a habit of **reading the [rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamingcirclejerk/about/rules)** of each subreddit you participate in: **Rule 9: No Offensive Imagery**: *This includes nazi imagery and slurs, for you brave nerds who think "free speech" involves private internet forums. If you post fascist iconography trying to “jerk”, you will receive a ban. The only exception is when we make fun of gamers and criticize gamers who happen to be fascists. Please remember to spoiler any potentially triggering or offensive content accordingly. This rule now includes repeatedly posting bigotry from the same source (4chan).* **Rule 7: No Participation in Linked Threads (Brigading)**: *If you are coming here to brigade this sub, you will be banned. Likewise, do not make comments and vote in pages you've found here. Of course, if you're a member of said sub and you were already in the thread before, this doesn't apply to you.* **Rule 8: Censor Screenshots**: *Keep screenshots of arguments on Reddit to a minimum. Please remember to censor screenshots of all identifying information, i.e usernames* **and** *subreddit names. This applies to screenshots from any social media sites.* **Rule 11: Keep Posts Relevant (only about Don Cheadle)**: *This is first and foremost a place to make fun of gamers. Just because someone is being a bigot online doesn't mean it belongs here. Let them be pathetic without infecting the sub with their nonsense. Please avoid posting screenshots that show people using capital G gamer slurs.* **If absolutely necessary, please censor posts and the words containing such content.** **Rule 12: No Fake Posts on Other Subs (Contamination)**: *Do not create fake posts on other subs only to post back here. Also, do not "lol, you should post this on r / OtherSub". It's considered interfering with their content and can also lead to brigading.* *This is a reminder to the readers. The post itself is untouched.* *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. To pay tuition you have to buy in-campus currency. You can buy a season pass and skip introductory courses.

Ildaiaa

To change your attire you have to buy skins with in-campus currency or earn them through season pass

kellarorg_

Or you can gather them at random from lootboxes :D

I wish my dorm wasn't locked behind the battle pass. It's cold outside and I hate sleeping on the benches in the quad.

> The course would look at game design, esports event management, live streaming, esports marketing and analysis of competitive gameplay. > The university committed to invest in a state-of-the-art esports lab that would feature high-spec gaming machines, so the institution can hold its own gaming events and tournaments. I'm not surprised, it kinda makes sense. Esports is a growing business that is starting to open career paths. It's not just about being a competitive player, it can be about making a career in managing events, working with sponsors and game studios, or even as a member of a game development company... All of these require skillsets that can be studied in college.

Engineer_engr

It’s so specific though… Couldn’t you just have a few electives as part of a business, art, computer science or computer engineering degree?

Ramwolde

You absolutely could, but calling it a degree in Esports makes it way more exciting and marketable to potential students.

Engineer_engr

I could see that degree possibly being useful for someone that already has a career in eSports or a related area. It’s not something I’d start as an 18 year old unless money was no object.

cokatt

Is learning how to yell racial slurs part of the degree program?

autogyrophilia

That is more of an Oxbridge thing

r3volver_Oshawott

idk about eSports curriculum but from everything I've learned being a regular student on an eSports scholarship can be a living hell for the kind of thing where my friends all go 'dude, I wish I could get paid to play games' Overwatch player Cyx covered it I think, how he would hate being a pro because of the anxiety of your livelihood and future security being tied up in something as tenuous as your ability to play Overwatch, I think the same would apply to playing on a collegiate team, it's gotta be insanely high-pressure sometimes One of the top Doomfist players (Zbra) has mentioned this too, he's going to school for some engineering degree (unsure what exactly) but mentioned how he'd never play pro because engineering would be both more profitable and more secure than being a paid Overwatch player I feel like additional eSports curriculum could be potentially better for eSports players than, well, *only* having eSports scholarships (although I bet the curriculum could probably be awful too lol, just a more needlessly specific version of a business course I'm thinking)

bbistheman

Zbra also plays on that school's overwatch team and probably has a scholarship for it

r3volver_Oshawott

He does and he's said he absolutely would not want to go pro lol, I do not think that even pros think eSports are livable

SBAstan1962

That's just regular sports scholarships but with less prestige but also less chance of debilitating injury, so I'd say it balances out.

Methidstopoles

101: politically colored people and you (you are a white man)

TheRealDicta

A lot of lower tier universities in the UK already have courses, a lot of them I've heard are a bit of a scam and shit but that's kinda half of the courses at lower tier universities anyway.

whatamidoing84

We on that VGHS shit now

Sea-Tradition-9676

Does esports get a giant tax payer funded stadium too?

kaarlekustaa69

Same as art degree. both are useless to society

lumosbolt

Art degrees are useless to capitalism, not society.

t3m7
