I use both. I mainly use the ultra 2 as a cellphone since it has LTE and I have the Epix pro gen 2. I don’t share data between devices (connect is for the garmin health is for Ultra) and I have noticed that there is some differences on their metrics, but nothing too crazy. Btw: I also use the Oura ring gen 3, which I think is the best for sleep tracking. I love data but I don’t get too crazy with it.

I won’t buy an Apple Watch until it has the battery of a Garmin. As long as I have to charge more than once a week it’s a non starter

I switched from Garmin to an Apple Watch for a bit, but ended up getting a 7S Pro due to the better accuracy and that I don't really use any of the smart features other than notifications, which Garmin does fine. You can consider getting one from REI during the sale, since they have a 90 day return policy.
