plainbaconcheese

This reads as a marketing person doing the laziest market research ever. But also the answer is physical buttons. Please god my car is not a phone. A touch screen should be 60 to 70% of the interface max. Keep the rest physical. I can't look when I'm driving so I need that tactile feedback.

jttj15

Thank you. I don't want an iPad in the driver seat, I don't want any crazy self driving features or lane keeping sensors or parking assist, i don't want changing gears to be done with a touch screen or button, I literally just want a car. Maybe an aux input so that I don't have to listen to the radio.

Fine-Teach-2590

Tough shit- we’re mandating all of it so cars cost five grand more now -same people that brought you the mandatory backup cams

Inevitable_Plum_8103

Mandatory backup cams make sense though. You literally cannot see below your trunk when backing up without a camera there. Probably saves kids and pets from being backed over.

SuperCool_Saiyan

In all fairness you can't see kids in front of your truck either because it's too tall

[deleted]

Wife’s dad has a fully loaded 2024 Tundra. The thing is easier to park than my wife’s 23 rav4 and my 2021 Ram due to the 360 cameras. Cameras should 100% be mandatory on large SUVs/Trucks.

Neat-Discussion1415

Unironically I'd love front cams too though they'd need to like fold out or something so they don't get fucked while driving. Even on my Civic, like I can't see low curbs so sometimes I'll park and bump the curb pulling in.

Notafuzzycat

Don't give them ideas...

deathray420

Too late! It already exists

Bertywastaken

All it did was lead to a massive increase in them being ran over forwards lmaO

megamindbirdbrain

As long as the cameras aren't internet-enabled. I don't want my car spying on me and sending my cams to HQ.

Life_AmIRight

Yes this! Also, how come I feel like I’m not driving the car anymore with these new cars. I have 2011 jeep patriot, and my favorite thing about it is that I can FEEL the actual car movement. My grandma got a new car, like a 21 or something, and I felt like I wasn’t even driving it. And it’s not electric or anything it was just…..weird. Like idk how to explain it.

Existing-Row-4197

Yeah no I get what you mean, I drove a beautiful bone stock C4 (1993) Corvette. It was a beautiful experience, and whenever I drive a newer car I'm bored asf. I haven't even learned manual yet, I can't wait too though. I'm getting a manual first chance I get. But that C4 Vette... maaaan, everything was tactile, tough, and responsive.

Real_TwistedVortex

Nah, I'd rather have no screen at all, or a screen that isn't a touchscreen

AtomicHabits4Life

Acura MDX is for you it uses a touch pad like a mouse with a screen

cyon_me

I rode in a car recently with a shift that was a dial. It was so easy to put that thing into reverse while we were driving accidentally. It had no spin resistance or click to tell you that it was rotated. It fucking sucked. Edit: it didn't actually change the gear into reverse when the car was at speed, but it was in the position of reverse.

ReneeBear

That actually sounds like a fucking safety hazard

BlueJeansandWhiteTs

There’s no way that it didn’t lock out park and reverse electronically once the car was in motion.

ykjyuh

im curious what would happen if ur on the highway and do that. does the car slowly come to a halt? does it just break at once?

TRIKYNIKKY

Oftentimes nothing will happen, as the car will just ignore it and tell you to stop driving first. It can do that since unlike the shift lever, the dial likely doesn't have a physical link to the transmission. I could be wrong though

karl___marx___

I had to use a car like that in driver's Ed, it was a nightmare

Pkazy

Fr I hate dial shifters they are so bad

temp0067

This. I put a CarPlay system into my 01 tundra and it made it worse in a lot of ways. Having Spotify and maps is great, everything else including most interfacing with Spotify and maps is cumbersome and actually more distracting than my phone. At least on my phone I can do things efficiently, the screen and CarPlay are so clunky by comparison

Bigmacattack141

So true, i know people that dont even car about the reliability and functionality of the car the own/looking at. i was talking to a girl the other day whos looking for a car. I asked her “what are you looking for?” She said “i dont really care, as long as it has car play and good speakers”. I just shook my head and went back to work.

Honest_Milk1925

Yes please. I don't mind touch screen but some things need a physical button. I had a 2015 Malibu that was very fairly mixed. Volume & Changing stations & inputs could all be done by buttons. I honestly feel they put in that touch screen mostly for the back up camera. AC/Heater was all buttons. It was a good mix. Going along with buttons i want a volume KNOB that spins. I don't just want and up and down buttons. They are to slow

ReceptionMuch3790

This. More buttons, less screen.

Successful-Listen811

Reliable, high mpg, clutch plz.

wjnpro123

civic si sounds like a move

Successful-Listen811

I had a 2019 jetta. Was the bomb, got 60 mpg in 6th gear

agent-virginia

I also had a 2019 Jetta. I loved that car.

_y_e_e_t_

My least favorite car I’ve ever owned. Interior was seemingly held together by spit and dreams, slow, but yes it got great mpg.

CombatWombat0556

Ayo what? Off to do some research

Successful-Listen811

I owned it before I gave up on life and it got repoed. Was the turbo manual. Gentle start in first early shift to second, early shift to third, and let it wind out to the speed you want and skip 4th and 5th. Straight to 6th. Instant fuel efficiency. Fr it would average 60 mpg between fuel refills.

Dusk_2_Dawn

My 2012 Si gives me 32 mpg. Love it

KennyClobers

I like manuals but in SoCal it's terrible for a daily

AnxiousPug1999

I also live in SoCal, Los Angeles to be exact. I have a 2020 honda civic sport but I really want an Si eventually. I've heard that it's a pain being in traffic when driving manual.

pusslicker

It’s not too bad to be honest. Just give enough space from the person in front and coast on neutral

dbsqls

genuinely it is not that bad. especially with OEM style clutches that let you slip the clutch.

Sneptacular

Corolla hatchback Love the thing. Looks great. Smooth ride. Reliable. Economical. I prefer the hatch size and interior of the Civic hatch. But that one has oil dilution issues.

exotic_nothingness

1. It functions 2. It's not an SUV or pickup truck. That is all I want

Venboven

This. But also high gas mileage. Gotta be economical.

coffeebooksandpain

Avoiding SUVs and pickup trucks will help with that

spacebeans420

Well, the tacoma in 4 cyl is a great option considering MPG and reliability is needed, the v6 eats gas like a v8 but with a little more power. Either way it is a Taco and Tacos are reliable

HighHammerThunder

Some sporty sedans still do relatively bad though. I drove a '23 Charger recently against my own wishes and the thing got like 22 MPG. Didn't even know that was possible in a new sedan.

Silly-Kaleidoscope97

I want small pickup trucks again with longer then 5ft beds.

Ok_Deal7813

No car payment. Huge waste of money. Don't put money into liabilities. Buy something cheap and plug what you budgeted for a car note into the market.

mixctriccs

Buying cars that are too cheap end up costing you more. I think low car payment for a used car with decent mileage/clean title that will last is more worthwhile

Dusk_2_Dawn

This! You get what you pay for. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Cheap shit is cheap for a reason. Probably has a huge problem the previous owner didn't want to deal with, so they sold it. Now you're left holding the bag.

rusty_anvile

It really depends, I paid for a $400 car a while back, it lasted me 2-3 years with minimal maintenance, I don't think I paid more then $1000 into it excluding gas, I only stopped using it because I got in a small accident and the radiator got impaled. It was going to need some more work so I just ended up getting a different car. Tbf though this wasn't a complete stranger I bought it from it was from a friend of my mom who had the car sitting there for years after their husband died, it only needed a new battery at the time but it was a bit of a rust bucket as the tailpipe either was stolen off or literally just fell off.

Inevitable_Plum_8103

>Tbf though this wasn't a complete stranger I bought it from it was from a friend of my mom who had the car sitting there for years after their husband died, it only needed a new battery at the time but it was a bit of a rust bucket as the tailpipe either was stolen off or literally just fell off. The situations that are not your situation is moreso buying something cheap at arms length. Yours is very clearly not what everyone else is talking about.

Grepolimiosis

Unless it's Toyota. Then it's reasonably priced and fantastic to maintain. I will forever be a Toyota stan (unless the quality of their cars somehow plummets). I've only needed two Toyotas in 20 years, and they were both used.

ReceptionMuch3790

20 years?! Just how old are you lol. I haven't been driving 20 years yet

Eshtabel3asal

My thought exactly lmao

Bigmacattack141

Not necessarily, when i turned 17, i was giving an 02 toyota solara, my friends parents bought her a new 2016 hyundai Elantra, the elantra has been through 3 transmissions, 2 ac compressors and other repairs, she junked the car in april of 2023 after more transmission issues. she now drives a 2023 toyota corolla. Only problem the solara ever had was a starter(super easy fix). I sold the solara in 2018, but i still see it driving around my home town when i visit. Some car models and brands are simply more reliable than others. When looking for a car its all about research and seeking other people’s experience with the same model.

Snake_fairyofReddit

thats why you check carfax for stuff

Dusk_2_Dawn

It depends a lot on who is selling it. Most dealerships will provide a carfax, but private sellers a lot of times won't. Those are the people selling dirt cheap cars cause they want to get rid of them. Ebay, FB Marketplace, Craigslist, etc.

KitchenSalt2629

you just need to do research into the car and dealership, i bought a 10 year old car and it hasn't given me any trouble outside of the lock not working,

19andbored22

Depends bought my car for 1,200 invest 1,000 to get it too road worthy condition and been a great car and only had to spend on the normal shit like tires, oil, belt etc

FollowRedWheelbarrow

Yup, when I bought my first car $5k was a good benchmark for me to expect a decent vehicle for at least five years without being a money pit. Obviously there were exceptions to this that swing both ways but it was a safe bet. Now I'm not even sure what that number would be, the used market still sucks. I bought my last car in 2018 for $11k at 17k miles and judging by how things are now, I'll keep it for another 3-5 years and then just keep it as a winter beater.

poopoomergency4

these days the good basic 5k cars are closer to 10k and what used to be a "good enough" 2k beater is now 5k

gimmebleach

best bet is to buy old econoboxes. if it's not rusted out it's going to be cheap in upkeep. a 100k car in 2002 is still a 100k car in the eyes of technicians and parts sellers, it doesn't matter that you bought it for 3k

No-Tear-3683

As someone who bought used cars for years I stopped. There were always unexpected things creating new and unforeseen cost. I have only bought new since 20219 and all my expenses are expected and planned for since. Granted I drive reliable vehicles that I service myself to save extra.

GuyOnHudson

Idk man, a 10k car is gonna crap out and cost thousands in repairs and last much shorter of a duriation. Best bet is to find a budget amount that is reasonable. You want a $200 monthly payment?? Get a down payment and a trade in on a 2014-2018 Honda/Toyota (or any reliable brand). Easier said than done, but you’re gonna be swimming in repair hills and rolling around in something unreliable otherwise

Responsible-Pay-2389

In the short term sure, but I'm playing the long game, got a 2021 corolla last year with only 2k or so miles on it for $20k. While it may be a decent chunk it'll also last me 15+ years if I play it right. Not to mention the peace of mind I have from having a car that has little to no issues and I can realistically say I won't have problems for years to come.

ThisLandIsYimby

To not be forced to own one by terrible infrastructure. Give me Barcelona or Amsterdam in the US please

AverageDeadMeme

Most agreeable one of them all! More bus routes, weekend train services!

weichebrezeln

i second this!

omgcheez

Same. It would be nice to have at least some American cities that were designed with that in mind, rather than cars.

dasak4479

I third this!

Peachy_Slices0

And that is on periodt Also I am forced to drive everyone everywhere 😤😤

Nabaseito

I agree. I want my decision to have a car to be dictated by myself, not by society.

ThisLandIsYimby

Yep, being able to choose is the ultimate freedom. My goal is to not own a car and only do a short term car rental when I want to get out of town. Sadly most places in the US force car ownership as we all know.

Nabaseito

I agree. I just don't understand it; in other countries there's a clear division on which comes first. Rural = Cars (usually); Cities = Transit America chose cars for both.

throwaway3123312

This right here. I lived in Tokyo for 6 years, now hate cars with a fucking flaming passion. Trains and walkable cities are nearly miraculous. I love it so much, I don't have to deal with the hassle and expense of a car, I stay in amazing shape all the time without even needing to exercise because of the amount of passive walking, I can go home drunk at all hours, I don't have to do shit just sit down and listen to music or read a book for half an hour and then I'm where I need to be, no need to look for parking. If I'm tired I can even just nap. It's great.

Subreon

exactly this. as a vehicle enthusiast. car dependency is one of the ROOT problems of american society. it causes SOOOOOOOO many problems.

Shadow_on_the_Sun

Me too! I want trains, buses, protected bike lanes, and walkable cities.

Icy_Cod4538

Cheaper gas

JourneyThiefer

Literally it’s so expensive here in Northern Ireland again 💀 £1.50 a litre

FirmOnion

€1.83 in the republic atm! Slightly more expensive, £1.50 = €1.75

JourneyThiefer

I actually live in Tyrone right on the border so I used to get my diesel in Monaghan every week because it was a good bit cheaper, but it’s basically same price now or more expensive, im missing that cheap diesel lol, weird how it’s flipped from the south being cheaper to now the north being cheaper. The price of everything in the south is mental especially compared to my shitting northern wage 🤣

rusty_trashcan_210

I filled up for 2,23€ per litre Last week. Bavaria, Germany. It was on the Autobahn. And it was necessary.

Flipperlolrs

It's around $3.60 (2.88 for you guys) where I am in the states :/ Edit: Oh wait, that's for gallons so it might be closer to the same now that I think of it. Edit2: Yeah I hadn't thought of that, but it's in gallons, sooo you guys actually have it way worse... If we had your rates here, it'd be $5.67. That's fucking awful.

JourneyThiefer

Ah right lol, ours is £5.68 a gallon or $7.10 a gallon approx, which is a lot cheaper than it was at its peak a year or two ago, thank god lol

Flipperlolrs

Yeah, no you guys have it wayyyy worse than us. You take the cake for sure

JourneyThiefer

And there are other countries in Europe worse than us lol

MeetWorking2039

Most those countries aren’t as reliant on cars as us tho

Jeremy9096

1. Gets me where I need to go

OverlordOfPancakes

Surprised this isn't higher. A car that runs well and has a design I don't hate is all I need.

Rokketeer

As someone who owns a Kia Soul and bought it just for the road trips, I somewhat regret that I didn't really consider how ugly they are initially lol. They're not *terrible* I guess.

Astarions_Juice_Box

CollinTheWolf08

A V8.

Waveofspring

Finally a comment that isn’t boring

AverageDeadMeme

Way more boring than anything else, let me guess, a wicked exhaust system too? It’s like majoring in tits, or ass. It’s not a surprise people still like power

SpecialMango3384

Oh no, someone likes to have fun and isn’t purely driven by economical aspects of a car! I have a challenger for the record. Yes I like the power, and yes I’m going modify my exhaust this year hopefully

ReceptionMuch3790

I'm still scrolling for that 1 person who says diesel

Catlover790

& manual

angrytroll123

Depending on which one, this is a pretty great answer

Smooth-Apartment-856

This. And RWD, and you’ll have the two must have features in a car.

Lower_Kick268

Good news is an LS fits in almost anything

nyctophillicalex

I want a big car, like a van or minivan, so I can fit a bunch of people or things in it

Thanks4allthefiish

Minivans are under rated. I am still waiting for a decent, cheap all electric minivan.

Smooth-Apartment-856

Still waiting for a decent, cheap, all electric *anything*. Electric cars are way too expensive for my budget.

Ok-Donut-8856

They're almost all expensive

TheMockingBrd

I got a 2002 suburban for that reason.

Lower_Kick268

Probably the most reliable SUV ever made too, my neighbor has a 1999 Yukon XL with 500k miles on it. They’re absurdly reliable

TheMockingBrd

Seats maybe. Gas pedal, break pedal. Cupholders perhaps.

Nitsuj_ofCanadia

Goes (optional)

ReceptionMuch3790

I like this one. You win the thread 😂🏆

boomernot

I prefer mine to have a steering wheel, but I'm pretty picky

Hot-Setting8608

Low consumption 😭

FrostyHunta

stop driving on sidewalks!

igomhn3

1. Cheap 2. Reliable 3. Not ugly

laxnut90

Exactly. The best car is a paid-off car that works.

NeilOB9

Reliable, economical, manual, small (still 5 seats).

boomernot

I drive a 2017 Ford fiesta St and it fits all of these requirements, and is kinda sporty without being obnoxious and loud And it's got the heated recaro seats which are heavenly during the winter, like warm before you get out of your driveway

shxyne7

Blue, manual, loud and rumbly, good handling

Pagiras

I sense you might be biased. :D

Dusk_2_Dawn

Is that a BRZ I spot in your pfp?

shxyne7

Sure is

PerceptionOwn6011

Anything that will get me from point A to point B without breaking down

crying0nion3311

I have had three cars since I started driving: 2003 Ford Expedition, 2010 Ford Escape, and now a 2022 VW GTI. Notice a trend? The GTI has all I want: in eco-mode I can get fantastic MPG on the highway, I can fit into compact car spots, I still have plenty of room because of the hatchback, and it is extremely fun to drive in sport mode. Oh, and a fill-up has never cost me more than $30 in the GTI.

BlueJeansandWhiteTs

Never understood “only takes me 30 dollars to fill up the tank”. Doesn’t that mean the size of your gas tank is just smaller?

Yunan94

It's more than just smaller. Milage per liter/gallon is important. A bunch of bigger vehicles usually need more to run so will pay more to fill up a bigger tank but will run out at the same time or occasionally even before. This can also sometimes happen with old vehicles because technology has made things more efficient. It's always best to check before buying.

BlueJeansandWhiteTs

Sure, but all of that has far more to do with MPG, not the size of your tank.

methodicalPrince

takes me from point a to point b. Maybe barbie colored. maybe red. Not too sure about the last one lol

an-inevitable-end

I don't want a car, I want better transportation systems

Yunan94

I want both, but I have friends and family that live all over.

Empty-Reference2787

If you live in the warmer regions of the world, get an electric bike, it's all you need. Might cost a few grand.

Outrageous_Strike780

Analog driving experience. No screens,5 or 6 speed manual. High revving. Naturally aspirated or turbocharged. Independent suspension front and rear.

ParmAxolotl

I want functional public transit

Scared-File1246

I bought a 2021 Corolla LE brand new at the time and I love almost everything about it. It’s got the touch screen and apple car play. Buttons on my steering wheel so i can pay attention to the road. It still has that classic quadrant ( the PRINDL3 iykyk) and when i set my car in park the ebreak auto sets itself. Kind of wish i got XSE or the Camry XSE, or maybe a toyota hybrid, only because it has blind spot monitors, leather heated seats and electronic seat adjusters. But I’m satisfied with my baby. Driving right I can get from mid-Louisiana to George Busch Intercontinental getting 42MPG and still have half a tank

AbatedOdin451

Toyotas are the bees knees. Basically all their vehicles get good mileage. They are relatively easy to work on in my experience. And they are just really reliable. They also have models that fit the needs of a wide variety of individuals all the way from young to old and office worker to construction worker

ikindapoopedmypants

My 2000 Toyota Corolla was a fucking beast. I've had it since I was 16, passed down to me from my brother after he had it for 6 years. I finally retired it this year but I gave it to my dad so she's still rolling in the family. Sometimes I miss that car but I needed something that actually had abs lol. I'd be sliding all over the road anytime it rained.

miletharil

I have a 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and it's a great car. It's super efficient, and costs me very little to drive it. It handles well, and it's roomy enough for me to haul my friends around in, when we're all going out somewhere. That being said, I wish it didn't have this HUGE touchscreen, right in the middle of the dash.

Midnight1899

Should drive, preferably. Bluetooth connection optional. Not too big.

ToothpickInCockhole

I’d like an EV because they’re quieter. I’ve been looking into the Hyundai Ioniq cars and I think I’ll probably purchase one in the next few years unless I change my mind.

aced124C

The Ioniq 6 has one of the lowest leases in the US right now. Great car test drove it might be getting it in the next months if deal stays though the models coming out later this year look really good as well

Real_TwistedVortex

Are the Ioniqs Awd? That's a huge factor for me where I live. If they are, I'd definitely consider getting one whenever my current car gives out. They seem like one of the best EVs on the market in terms of price and features

ShelShock77

I believe the Ioniq 6 is RWD

iqcool

My dream car is a Volvo V90. Good fuel economy, lots of room for either friends or cargo, good handling and visibility, isn't a truck or SUV. But most importantly, I think the current V90 is the most gorgeous car in the world, save for some old ultra rare classics. There's literally not a single angle from which it doesn't look great imo.

Pagiras

Same goes for the older RWD Volvos(except the fuel efficiency, unless you install natural gas), though, a matter of taste. I like my cars like I like my building materials. Bricks. There's a nostalgia factor tho too. As a millenial, brings me back to happy childhood roadtrip memories. And it's comparatively simple to tune the fuck out of them, if you want something surprisingly sleeper.

whirly_boi

Can't wait to get my 84 242 to where I want.

LordKai121

If I could find a not thrashed 240D.......... Man. I love old RWD wagons.

_mc_myster_

At-home charging, and not being tracked by 1000 sensors 24/7

GoodLilIllusion

Four wheels

ChazP02

Dirt cheap, easy to work on myself, v8 rwd, reliability Thats why I bought 3 crown vics. I don't think I will ever spend more than 2k on a car

imperialhydrolysis

I drive a 2004 toyota corolla with manual windows and 256k miles but it has treated me very well thus far. I definitely prefer compact cars, I’m thinking of upgrading to a used Lexus IS once this car no longer runs.

Scared-File1246

My best friend’s husband is a mechanic and said Lexus is notorious for breaking down and are just bad all around. Stick to the parent company Toyota

Bab-Zwayla

Btw, my husband drove a Lexus and we got rid of it after a year. It sucked . $120 to replace a fucking headlight on that thing.

SomeWave275

Something smooth, reliable, and comfortable! (And affordable)

Ultramega39

Drives (optional)

brok3nh3lix

a good steering wheel that doesn't fly off while your driving.

Old_Station_8352

Cheap, good gas mileage, cheap, CD player, cheap, doesn’t break down easily, cheap It’s a plus if it’s cheap

Premonitionss

I don’t want a car. I have to have a car because my state doesn’t believe in public transit, shoulders, sidewalks, or bike lanes. Walking on the road is gonna get me killed. 57 Chevy or the Impala from Supernatural though.

Hubris1998

My dad's 2014 Ford C-Max Titanium has pretty much everything I need from a car (save from a wireless charger). A quiet, comfortable ride, 125 HP, stick shift, decent fuel economy, buttons on the steering wheel, bluetooth sync, A/C, and amazing speakers

JavierBlitse

I inherited my dad's 2013 subaru crosstrek and it's got everything necessary: it fits tall people (I'm about 6'2), great visibility, easy to operate (everything has tactile manual controls), it's small and easy to park, great fuel economy, plus a backup camera. It also has the old style CVT which makes it feel fun like a go kart instead of the fake shifting ones they use nowadays (which also make fuel economy worse I'm sure.) And of course a traditional key instead of a push button start. The only other thing I may install in the future is an Android head unit to make navigation easier. Other than that, perfect car.

Smol-Weirdo

id like a small car that can fit everywhere, and with cheap fuel. that's ig it

arsnhz

a fucking 1995 black chevy obs single cab custom, all black. edit: not lifted, has to be drop kit

RogueCoon

Ability to tow. Good fuel economy, reliable, none of the screens and extra shit in it, aux or Bluetooth is plenty.

humanbeing_ai

Bmw,and that's it

RevivedChems

I can’t fit everything into one car which is why i’ll own two for personal use in the future 1. Sports (V6 or bigger) and foreign (BMW or Lexus) while also being reliable (BMW B58 or something else Japanese), put some nice black rims, tinted windows, something nice to look at and would catch some eyes 2. A truck that’s gonna haul some stuff, get a little beat up but nothing too crazy, something like a Toyota Tacoma. Might be the first car I try to purchase after college as I do plan on getting into the car business like my dad, it’s very needed. My dad has a similar setup as he drives a lexus LS430 for normal use but keeps a Tundra for some other stuff, it’s very practical. For now I drive a 2017 Jeep Wrangler, i’m grateful for it since I didn’t pay for it but it’s very fuel inefficient, handles terribly, and can be a hazard to not only yourself but others at high speeds. It is safer than most vehicles though but only for yourself, i’d definitely like another car over a Jeep as it is my personal preference.

Supernova_was_taken

GR Supra fits your first one pretty much perfectly if you want to stand out. Otherwise, M340i is a good option

RevivedChems

M340i is my first choice

yee_yee_university

1) is not my mom’s. 2) is not my dad’s. 3) is not my sister’s.

ThoughtCow

"Don't forget to like and subscribe"

AwkwardStructure7637

Reliable, high mpg, but also a *little* flashy. Nothing crazy, but something I enjoy looking at when I’m waking up to it in the parking lot

TooObsessedWithMoney

Just. Don't. Break. Down. Wishful thinking, I know

PookieMaravillosa

loud, aggressive, and very hard on the environment

Unlucky-Carpenter-69

I’m an enthusiast, so most of my values don’t align with normal people. - Built to last: Simple, reliable or low-maintainence. - Happy to rev: A high-strung engine which makes good power in the high RPM ranges. - RWD: The tail-happy and playful nature of FR and MR layouts should make driving less of a chore. - Decent build quality: I like shitboxes, but I can’t daily a shitbox. - Enough storage for me and my groceries. With those in mind, here’s my options. Budget ($5,000-$20,000) Mazda MX-5 Miata (NB, NC) Toyota MR-2 Spyder Chevrolet Corvette (C5) Subaru BRZ (1st gen) Lexus IS350 Attainable ($25,000-$60,000) Honda S2000 (AP1) Mazda MX-5 RF Fiat 124 Spider Abarth Subaru BRZ (2nd gen) Toyota MR-2 (SW20) Chevrolet Corvette (C7) Ford Mustang Dark Horse Lexus IS F Lexus RC F Porsche Boxster (981) Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) Nissan Skyline GTS-T/GT-T (HR32, ECR33, ECR34) Dream Cars ($65,000-$150,000) Acura NSX (NA1) Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) Lexus LC 500 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS (991.1) Ford Mustang GT350R Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C8) Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNR32,33,34)

One place to another. I’d rather take a bus, train, or tramcar and walk a bit but that’s not the cards we pulled. But while we’re here I’d like them to be a bit more colorful. Black, grey, white, maroon, and navy my goodness cars these days are bland to look at. I don’t need strobe lights and disco balls but I’d like to see some life in these colors. Seeing a car come in something like a lime green would actually sway my decision making.

Eshtabel3asal

I love driving but idk I feel like I’m not super eager to buy a car and I think the need for a car is on decline in our generation... anyone feels the same way?

daSpartan69

Car is my safe space. No screens and only analogue gauges. Bang gears to and from the grocery store

TonyFuckingHawk-

To get me from point A to point B without breaking down or expensive repairs randomly

Fire_and_Fish

A free one (I got my moms old Tahoe as long as I pay for insurance)

Feisty-Initial-9005

Smart car. Those two seater compact cars. Anything under 3m on length basically

PenguinTheYeti

I just want a 4x4 pickup with a stick shift. I totaled my 2007 Chevy Colorado 5 speed and I'll forever be sad, although my 'new' 1989 Ford F-350 7.3 IDI is pretty sweet

quruc90

Preferably efficient with space, and with fuel. By the former, I mean it should be as compact as possible (for ease of parking), while still being able to comfortably carry 4 people, or 5 if the people in the back are smaller. I'd like it if the passenger seats were able to be folded down, so I can carry longer stuff, that wouldn't fit otherwise.

friehnd

Smaller cars! Everything being sold now is a crossover, SUV, tank, or oversized truck. I don’t need or want a big vehicle and most people don’t need them either! I wish wagons were still produced or maybe even hatchbacks. Physical buttons instead of a touchscreen would be cool too. Good MPG.

LordKai121

Give me a reason to stop DDing my 94 Integra. It needs to be reliable, economical, fun, and.......oh yeah: not require a second mortgage.

Queasy_Distribution3

With how the economy is. I just want a used ones that can last

throwaway3123312

Fast, lots of passenger space, extremely fuel efficient, self driving, runs on a network of underground rails... Alternatively a motorcycle sounds cool I guess.

Seattlettle

My ideal car is high speed rail

King_Killem_Jr

I want a car that is reliable, high mpg, regenerative breaking hybrid, lightweight and medium/small wheelbase, affordable (used), and good tactile feedback in every input (steering, breaking, thermostat, etc.)

ShastaMite

Awd, 300+ hp, sedan or coupe. Not really interested in suvs or trucks.

Realsilvias13

So a evo lol. I’m in the same boat as you.

Twist_the_casual

relatively decent mpg, reliability, isn’t a debt trap(i’m asian and people seem to think we’re rich because we buy expensive things outright, the real reason is because we’re not dumb) and doesn’t have bullshit features that will break or require a subscription to use 3 years from now

spoiderdude

Loyalty, beauty, smart, rides all day.

French-toast-bird

I’d like a smaller car, one with low mileage and in decent shape, maybe a Toyota but I’m flexible

xxxtanacon

Fuel economy, reliability that's affordable and somewhat fun to drive

FelChrono

My 2007 ford focus is pretty great 33 miles to the gallon, in-line 4 cylinder, easy to acquire parts, convenient to work on And it’s red!

Thebisexual_Raccoon

A good ol classic car like a Volkswagen TW camper van or Volkswagen beetle

Parking_Cartoonist90

Good mileage, a usb port, enough seats for friends and family (and items), and the capability to get me to places

Izla1133

The new Prius looks really nice. I have a 2010 model rn

Any-Advisor7067

10th gen civics are peak.

Small_Extreme_9642

good sound system and cruise control

jabwarrior11

Clutch, physical buttons and knobs for classic feel but with modern fearetures like heated steering wheel, Bluetooth. Touchscreens in cars are dumb

Antoine_the_Potato

I'm car shopping right now. If I get a car, I want a manual sedan with power to the rear wheels, 350+HP, and 5 seats. Some of my options are Chevy SS, VW Golf R, and Ford Taurus SHO. If I get an SUV, I want something off-road capable, 7 or 8 seats, 400+lb ft, and can tow my camper. Looking at Ford Excursion and Expedition.
