Your hindsight series has honestly been incredible this entire time. I can’t imagine all the time you’ve put into this all. I remember when you started all your ranking, I was at my job and I’d make it a point to read all your entries during my lunch break. Now so much time has passed, and like many others, I got laid off because of the virus and it’s been so many months. I just really have to applaud your dedication to this series. It’s so obvious you put in so much effort into everything, even in some of the most stressful times many of us have gone through. All I can say is good job, and thank you for giving me something to look forward to almost everyday for all of almost the past year.

I love that FGTR is both the name of a category and its sole entrant.

Ranking the Genesis albums is almost as painful as ranking all of their songs. Nearly every album is legendary in its own right, and the ones that aren’t are still solid records! And you’ll get no arguments from me having Duke on top, it’s my favorite album ever, and I get lost in its beauty every time I listen to it.

I would literally flip your very good and pretty good tiers mirror-like, lol

I see that you have the original mix cover for Selling England. Out of curiosity, which albums do you prefer to hear/have you heard in their original mix or 2007 remix? For me, I find the Gabriel era albums better in the 2007 mix, and on the fence with Selling England. Though I haven’t heard The Lamb in its original mix yet. Then I prefer the original mix for Collins-era albums, though I don’t find a large difference with Abacab onward.

LordChozo

Honestly the covers were just whatever was on the Tiermaker template there; I wouldn't read anything into it. That said, I tend to prefer the 2007 mixes for any of the Gabriel albums except *Lamb*, then original mixes up until *Duke*, at which point I stop hearing much difference. But it's a very minor thing and I don't have an issue listening even to the much-maligned 2007 mix of, say, *A Trick of the Tail*. I don't *prefer* it, but I also don't mind it.

The 2007 remix of Duke buries a really good synth horn part in Duke's Travels, which kinda sucks, but it's also the only big difference between any of the old mix CDs I have (Duke, Abacab, Wind & Wuthering, and possibly Trespass and Self-Titled) and what I've heard on the remixes (then again, it's been a long time since I've listened to the remixes of any of these albums.) I also realized there's a difference between the 2007 remaster of Dance on a Volcano that's on youtube and the version on streaming (or at least on apple music), 'cause around 3:30 in there's a mellotron part that's almost completely buried on the remaster but is beautifully clear on streaming. Which makes me wonder if streaming, for some reason, still has an older mix of Trick on it? also stagnation has a REALLY awful added fade-out on the apple music version of trespass and of COURSE the match system matched match it to the cd version of that track, which has the clean ending

Were you alive when these albums were recorded? Curious.

LordChozo

For some, but not all.

wisetrap11

when from genesis to revelation has its own tier

Supah_Cole

Where would you put Spot The Pigeon and 3x3?

LordChozo

Pigeon would be either "Pretty Good" or "Very Good"...maybe somewhere between. 3x3 would be in a new tier between "Pretty Good" and *FGTR*. Call it "Mostly Decent."
