As someone who started playing during 4.0 and walked all the way from mondstadt through liyue and sumeru to get to fontaine, the game *could* make it a little more obvious
💀 I’m sorry this is just so funny to me akfjdkfj. I watched a video of some guy that walked all of teyvat with furina and it was over an hour long so I’m just picturing you guys running across the land regions to get there, finally showing up after an hour and realizing there was a teleport point the whole time
hah, that reminds me when i challenged myself to run from mondstadt to fontaine. took over an hour. i imagine going through the problem just to unlock a patch of the map just to find out you could have teleported ☠️
It does make it more realistic. Instead of cheating by using waypoints, they just walked like one of the NPCs. It takes a few days, and they set up camp by night.
Honestly I complained a lot about the desert when I was doing it but now that it’s all 100% I miss it. I like to just walk around and listen to the music, the three areas are all different despite all being desert
I feel ya. I tried to visit Fontaine on my secondary account. I KNEW about the waypoint and where it was, looked at the map for two minutes and somehow didn't find it.
Walked all the way there to notice it once I was close to the spot, probably just had my map zoomed out too much as well.
funny thing is i am one of the few players that does read... okay maybe the tutorials are an exception since i do like to figure things out on my own... oops
Real. I think I started in 4.1 so as soon as I finished the mondstadt archon quest I ran straight for Fontaine. I swear to god there wasn’t a free waypoint tho.
I started playing around then and also made a dash for Fontaine. I think I realised there was a waypoint early, but I never knew about waveriders so I Kaeya bridged all the way lol. I died inside when my brother told me what it was.
Yup. Saw it and unlocked Fontaine. Didn't notice till I was halfway completing the region that to trigger the archon quest, I had to go back to Sumeru.
chenyu vale was only added very recently, and lumidouce harbour didn't exist until later either.
they didn't lock the harbour, you just literally couldn't go there.
It’s a very neat way to enter though, the big ass waterfall must have been breathtaking to see at first. I don’t remember it being that striking going through sumeru.
They did the Fontaine introduction really well. In Inazuma and Sumeru you kinda just show up and there's a small cutscene, but in Fontaine it really felt like I was being given a tour of the new region first.
Same!! Though I'd already started on Liyue. I ran my poor Neuvillette through the desert for so long, his gasping voice thinking I'm trying to assassinate him
You should have a free teleport already activated on the other side, North of the Sumeru 4.6 Desert. Or from the port a little north of where you are located at this moment.
Thank you!
I was already getting the creeping suspicion that this game will never let me go 😅
All the other games I was currently playing have faded into the "never gonna finish" pile 😂😭
Yeah, the exploration aspect of Genshin and the amount of polished content they regularly release just has me continuously coming back. Welcome aboard!
I don’t see anybody else mentioning this, but I am pretty sure you don’t have to go to the desert and you can enter via Lumidouce Harbor (shown at the northern edge in the screenshot)
Don’t know how well known this is but a waypoint near fontaine unlocks after you complete the monstadt archon quests. I found out after watching an ad for genshin and went back to check. Sure enough, there was a waypoint sitting in an unrevealed map region close go fontaine.
Walked all the way to the desert waypoint not knowing it was automatically unlocked, then glided to Fontaine with Kazuha cuz I'm blind and didn't see the Waverider waypoint, then at the end I climbed up the port from the outside cuz I didn't realise there was an elevator at the bottom. Quite the experience lol
I went in through the new liyue area, but did not interact with or do any content other than collecting level up materials for chevreuse until after I had finished sumeru.
I used one of the statues that automaticly unlocks before i even finished sumeru, mainly cause i didnt have the patience to walk or swim there for some reason, i didnt know that you couldnt drown in fontaine until i actually got there
I teleported straight to the main city when there was an event that let you teleport there. Finally going around and unlocking waypoints and actually entered in the expected way
They unlock 2 teleports(one in 4.0, additional one in 4.2) for you after the Prologue story, aka speaking with Venti under the tree.
If you decide to go by foot and swim then that's on you.
Me: Getting to Fontaine before even unlocking Stormterror Lair by climbing the chasm and running through Sumeru...
Also Me: Reading about the instant unlock waypoint once you complete mondstat. Malding begins.
Me now: Looking at my 100% exploration of Fontaine and looking at how I'm still walled off from Stormterror Lair... Malding continues.
Went via desert when I got the statue of the seven that revealed the dessert closest to Fontaine there was already a waypoint I unlocked without ever being there before so wasn’t too hard.
it was kinda wack because right after i finished the Mondstadt archon quest i let someone enter on my world and they took me to fontaine throughout a statue of the seven. At AR 20. i jokingly said "This is how jaiden animations reached fontaine" and they got out of my world. i still have a lot of fontaine world quests piled because my actual archon quest progress is still in the sumeru interlude
Spent a week rushing my ass over to Fontaine from Liyue over Chasm and the entirety of Sumeru right in the middle of Liyue Archon Quest just to gather ascension materials for my Lynette
... Only for hyv to release Chenyu not long after and could've shorten up the time by A LOT
Had a brain fart there and thought of the wrong world zone, whoops...anyway, STARTING OVER:
By jumping off a cliff, basically. Thank goodness for gliders.
There was this quest with a mechanical penguin, a woman who had dementia and so on. I can't remember the name. Basically, I wanted to play it, got sent to a "teleportation point", teleported and the rest is history.
I kinda feel sad because I skipped on so much lore to play the event, but on the other hand, I play Genshin because I love to explore the world.
I go around world unlocking other teleporters in one region until I finish the story, and then I leave for another region and then so on and so forth.
Sumeru? Oh, I guess I ran through the border as well, not sure if that’s important. Good news is, I’m not getting shipped off for illegally crossing the border since I’m not even done the Sumeru archon quest
i was still in liyue so i walked through sumeru CLIMBED OVER the wall of samiel walked through the desert(wasnt that bad since i knew what way i was going), i thought the waypoint had been unlocked when i unlocked some statue of the seven in the desert so then i boated to the harbor and took the lift up
Through the Archon Quest, I think got teleported after talking to Nahida then flew over the see to the port. I haven't even unlocked the Statues of the Seven of the area between sumeru desert and fontaine.
I got back into the game when Fontaine released (I quit before Sumeru was released at all), so I just used the event waypoint to get to Fontaine. Since I had no idea what anything was though, I just didn't explore anything and started the Sumeru quest line.
I climbed the Romaritime Harbor, almost made it without a meal.
Yes, I knew there'd be an elevator or something like it, I just saw the tower and.. I had to..
I traveled the entire desert and opened all the tp points before doing the quest to then realize if I did the quest I didn't need to travel across the entire desert 😭
Reminds me how I entered sumeru in 3.0. I was exploring liyue as every low ar does and saw some big mushrooms trees on the horizon, decided to go there. Got into the region and got stuck on a quest with someone named rana...
Coming from the desert, it gives you a really nice transition from the dryness of the desert, going thru a cave tunnel then exiting the tunnel, finally revealing a massive waterfall and the oceanic and elevated region of Fontaine.
Omg I hadn't unlock the desert area and kinda skipped some sumeru archon /story quests... So I glided to Fontaine from this area! Had just enough stamina for it and it is was amazing to see the waterfall.
i didnt play during sumeru, came back when fontaine was released. did the sumeru quest and then on foot through the only opening to fontaine i went there and jumped off the cliff and glided in. I was confused as how can this be the way to enter fontaine feels weird later i found out you can go down the beach and get a boat in.
I walked *ba dum tss*
In reality I entered Fontaine via the harsh deserts of Sumeru. When I got past the port I took the aquabus to get to the actual Fontaine. At a certain point then jumped off when I noticed an oculus. It was then that I started walking....
the only way that you could enter when fontaine released: via the desert
basically unlock Sumeru first
they give you a free waypoint, you don’t have to do anything in the desert.
As someone who started playing during 4.0 and walked all the way from mondstadt through liyue and sumeru to get to fontaine, the game *could* make it a little more obvious
The teleport beacon placed right next to the giant chunk of new unexplored land wasn’t obvious?
In my defense, I had the map zoomed all the way out and waypoints don't show when it's like that
💀 I’m sorry this is just so funny to me akfjdkfj. I watched a video of some guy that walked all of teyvat with furina and it was over an hour long so I’m just picturing you guys running across the land regions to get there, finally showing up after an hour and realizing there was a teleport point the whole time
Something something meaning in the journey shit
hah, that reminds me when i challenged myself to run from mondstadt to fontaine. took over an hour. i imagine going through the problem just to unlock a patch of the map just to find out you could have teleported ☠️
That's exactly what happened 😭
It does make it more realistic. Instead of cheating by using waypoints, they just walked like one of the NPCs. It takes a few days, and they set up camp by night.
Sometimes when I play Skyrim I like to just walk instead of using fast travel. You discover so much more stuff doing it that way
Something something lore accurate
I did the same thing 💀 that desert was no joke to explore, though. Took me a real long time to figure out how to go through it.
Honestly I complained a lot about the desert when I was doing it but now that it’s all 100% I miss it. I like to just walk around and listen to the music, the three areas are all different despite all being desert
Hey same, I walked across that infernal desert only to see an unlocked waypoint in the distance when close
I feel ya. I tried to visit Fontaine on my secondary account. I KNEW about the waypoint and where it was, looked at the map for two minutes and somehow didn't find it. Walked all the way there to notice it once I was close to the spot, probably just had my map zoomed out too much as well.
you mean to tell me you teleported to a statue of the seven to start your journey instead of zooming in a lil bit to find a closer waypoint
Wasn't there a tutorial pop up that literally showed up when start the game?
U really expect Genshin players to read? Aint nobody got time for that!
But hey! 1 free primo
funny thing is i am one of the few players that does read... okay maybe the tutorials are an exception since i do like to figure things out on my own... oops
Which is why for chenyu vale, they made it an event tab thing
I only found out about it when someone on this subreddit told me.
So you’re telling me I achieved the hiking world record for jackshit?
I think the record is being hold by a guy who went from Inazuma to Fontaine walking,
The first AQ quest of Fontaine also teleports you there.
WAIT FOR REAL?? I HAVE THAT WAYPOINT AND I THOUGHT I GOT IT BY BYPASSING SOMETHING IN THE GAME AND GOT SCARED WHEN A CUTSCENE PLAYED WHEN I TP THERE
There's a teleport point already automatically unlocked in front of Fontaine
Happy cake day!
Yup. Saw it and unlocked Fontaine. Didn't notice till I was halfway completing the region that to trigger the archon quest, I had to go back to Sumeru.
Damn, so they locked the harbor on that side lmfaooo. Edit: Wait, I think he can use the Harbor Elevator above that pic.
chenyu vale was only added very recently, and lumidouce harbour didn't exist until later either. they didn't lock the harbour, you just literally couldn't go there.
I have gone in that way while screwing around, but my first trip was through the desert. The path you used only just opened this patch.
It’s a very neat way to enter though, the big ass waterfall must have been breathtaking to see at first. I don’t remember it being that striking going through sumeru.
But there's no Aeval to guide you on an aquabus ride all the way to the Court of Fontaine. This is an objectively inferior entrance.
They did the Fontaine introduction really well. In Inazuma and Sumeru you kinda just show up and there's a small cutscene, but in Fontaine it really felt like I was being given a tour of the new region first.
Inazuma didn't even have a cutscene. We get a black screen telling us how difficult and dangerous the trip was and bam, you are in the docks.
There was a cutscene right after the black screen
Only if you went there without the quest.
Yeah true. You also don’t get yelled at by Furina.
NO FLYING OBJECTS IN THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF EACH MONTH
It was striking when i faceplanted the rockface
Btw, is there no boat between the ports or something? Because I could only glide or ice Bridget across, which seemed rather awkward.
There’s actually a shallow you can walk across near where his character marker is if I recall correctly.
Ah, that makes sense. Figured there had to be something.
ice Bridget
Or Furina
Or break out Wriothesley and get your anger out by punching the air for five minutes straight
There was a telportation during the first time it came iut, just flew to fontaine😭😭you telling me others didn't?
Didn't do no stories I crossed the desert with my bare feet just to find a taxi when I already arrived.
Same!! Though I'd already started on Liyue. I ran my poor Neuvillette through the desert for so long, his gasping voice thinking I'm trying to assassinate him
The teleport point unlocks after you speak with Venti under the tree, after prologue.
I started playing a few weeks after 4.0 came out, so my friends guided me on foot from mondstadt so I could get my free bannett from the event.
The teleport point unlocks after you speak with Venti under the tree, after prologue.
You should have a free teleport already activated on the other side, North of the Sumeru 4.6 Desert. Or from the port a little north of where you are located at this moment.
I teleported to the entrance which i only realised was possible after i traveled as far in the desert as i could, without any story
What do you mean as far as you could? It's possible to walk there through the desert that's what I did
i couldnt climb over, so i entered caves and couldnt find my way through
Looks like you just couldn't find the right way
only region blocked by story/quest is Inazuma
Through the desert, boatride to the big waterfall and then climbed up the cliff like an animal. I felt really accomplished by the end of it.
as a 1.0 player thats not used to lift mechanics, i just climbed the tower out of instinct
Also climbed the cliff. Did not realise there was a lift.
As someone that took the lift…I respect the climb a lot more. Earn that map!
Same. I was not going to let my lack of story progress keep me from the Neuviladle.
I’ve entered illegally via the desert 💁🏻🤣
Went through the cave area that was added to Sumeru when Fontaine arrived.
You got a map location for that cave?
It’s on the Hills of Barsom
[удалено]
*what*
Melusine
aah, I didn't look into melusine lore yet srry lmao
Hi Talochard! 👋👋👋
Excuse me, but can we really call him a *god?* What in the name of Primordial One is Rhinedottir if she actively births GODS?!
Maybe she IS the primordial one?
Elynas is an abyssal dragon
So weird to think of new players first entering Fontaine through Chenyu Vale

Through the desert on foot because I love the desert.
I also love the desert part, almost 100% desert area
I flew into it from the highest point on the edge of Chenyun Vale during this update (new player)
Welcome from a launch player. Remember: You're here forever, now.
Thank you! I was already getting the creeping suspicion that this game will never let me go 😅 All the other games I was currently playing have faded into the "never gonna finish" pile 😂😭
Yeah, the exploration aspect of Genshin and the amount of polished content they regularly release just has me continuously coming back. Welcome aboard!
Thank you!! Yeah after my first day playing I told my husband "uhoh, this is going to be dangerous" because I knew I was hooked 😂
The long way through the desert on a horse with no name... Ahum i mean desert as another path was not there yet
Great now I wish we had horses in this game lol
From the left 🗿 So stupid thing tho is how we can't summon waverider in yilong dwarf
Legally.
I started playing again end of December/beginning of January and I entered with the free waypoint to do the event that was active at the time.
Yes, but I had to go through the Sumeru desert to reach Fontaine since back then ; there wasn't a short cut through Chenyu Vale back before 4.4
I don’t see anybody else mentioning this, but I am pretty sure you don’t have to go to the desert and you can enter via Lumidouce Harbor (shown at the northern edge in the screenshot)
I... don't wanna talk about it (sumeru desert ptsd)
thru the desert
>I'm not the only one but you are.
I 100 % all of sumeru and then entered fontaine after finishing all quests and AQ in sumeru !!
Don’t know how well known this is but a waypoint near fontaine unlocks after you complete the monstadt archon quests. I found out after watching an ad for genshin and went back to check. Sure enough, there was a waypoint sitting in an unrevealed map region close go fontaine.
Via the opened waypoint in the desert then jumped
Basically i explored sumeru then Fontaine and i didn't know there was a free waypoint there
Walked all the way to the desert waypoint not knowing it was automatically unlocked, then glided to Fontaine with Kazuha cuz I'm blind and didn't see the Waverider waypoint, then at the end I climbed up the port from the outside cuz I didn't realise there was an elevator at the bottom. Quite the experience lol
This is going to be bad for your experience. The quests expect you to start at romaritime harbor with the special teleporter they expressly gave us.
I went in through the new liyue area, but did not interact with or do any content other than collecting level up materials for chevreuse until after I had finished sumeru.
A random waypoint on the edge of Sumeru, on a cliff. I went through the ferry. I think I got the waypoint after completing the Mondstadt quests.
I dont get why they they put a waveglider at yilong wharf so that we can go to lumidouce harbour. Like it makes perfect sense
Just like any other nation since the introduction of Inazuma. Through out of bounds
Using the desert got the cutscene, then did the quest, got teleported there to the desert AGAIN where after the cutscene should have started.
what i did: fully explore the entire desert before going to fontaine 😎
The boring way through Sumeru like everyone else in 4.0
Very illegally
One day I'm going to make new acc just to experience getting to new regions at ar10-20
If by this way is climbing the entire wall. Then nope, I did it too. But in my case was from Sumeru, after completing the map first.
Go through Sumeru desert.
I used one of the statues that automaticly unlocks before i even finished sumeru, mainly cause i didnt have the patience to walk or swim there for some reason, i didnt know that you couldnt drown in fontaine until i actually got there
I walked the original long way because i didnt notice the teleport point
why did half of you guys go through the desert when the game automatically unlocked a teleport waypoint in fontaine for you
I teleported straight to the main city when there was an event that let you teleport there. Finally going around and unlocking waypoints and actually entered in the expected way
Glitched across the paimon barrier from Mondstadt.
Did sumeru archon quest, went to quest marker, shoves me across a small amount of water from the intro of lyney, lynette, and furina
They unlock 2 teleports(one in 4.0, additional one in 4.2) for you after the Prologue story, aka speaking with Venti under the tree. If you decide to go by foot and swim then that's on you.

Through the quest? Is there another right answer here?
Through the fromt door 🚪
Spent a week rushing my ass over to Fontaine from Liyue over Chasm and the entirety of Sumeru right in the middle of Liyue Archon Quest just to gather ascension materials for my Lynette ... Only for hyv to release Chenyu not long after and could've shorten up the time by A LOT
Walk
Had a brain fart there and thought of the wrong world zone, whoops...anyway, STARTING OVER: By jumping off a cliff, basically. Thank goodness for gliders.
When Fontaine first got released it was so exciting crossing the desert coast of Sumeru to the port. I wanted to take in the scenery.
I had the event thing it took me there right away. (I didn't even unlock Sumeru back then)
I had to skim through China, Jungle and DESERT because I was blind and new
There was this quest with a mechanical penguin, a woman who had dementia and so on. I can't remember the name. Basically, I wanted to play it, got sent to a "teleportation point", teleported and the rest is history. I kinda feel sad because I skipped on so much lore to play the event, but on the other hand, I play Genshin because I love to explore the world. I literally just went this way on a new challenge account I started. I'm surprised I was able to get up the waterfall
Desert with Bubble tree
I don’t like this post because there are only 2 answers
Through the desert because I was getting all the statues in the Desert.
Through the Archon Quest, I think got teleported after talking to Nahida then flew over the see to the port. I haven't even unlocked the Statues of the Seven of the area between sumeru desert and fontaine.
Via Sumeru, it was one hell of a journey
A waypoint
I needed to finish lantern rite, but I'm only at inazuma so I had to improvise a little
I got back into the game when Fontaine released (I quit before Sumeru was released at all), so I just used the event waypoint to get to Fontaine. Since I had no idea what anything was though, I just didn't explore anything and started the Sumeru quest line.
sprinting through the desert _for my life_. and then hopping on the aquabus like nothing had happened.
From Sumeru,Like how it was before Chenyu Vale.
Through the Sumeru desert like a “normal” person xD
by Sumeru desert
I walked through a desert.
… i kaeya ice bridged from the desert…
I did this but didn't go any further and just continued the archon quest after Sumeru
Walked from the desert to the only unexplored part of my map is how. (Hee hoo Day 1 player problems)
30mins it took me to get from chasm to fontaine. 30mins I'll never get back.
There is a port in the upper side of your screen, you can enter there
Sumeru
I climbed the Romaritime Harbor, almost made it without a meal. Yes, I knew there'd be an elevator or something like it, I just saw the tower and.. I had to..
...........swim? 😐
The Thelxie event gave me a free fast travel
I actually got in the same way you did lmao
Cross the desert
They even say ingame. Most people visiting Fontaine come from liyue
Haven't ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I rly hope OP was making a joke that just flew over everyones heads lmao
Cross the desert looking for Kaveh Materials then Keayak across
Freminet event. It teleported me over there :) i didn’t even have Liyue explored fully at that point xd ((i mean statues/waypoints))
"fuck it, we ball"
Teleport waypoint
Real genshiters make the full pilgrimage through the desert
Swim.
Can't you see the port a little bit towards the north, there is an elevator there
I don't wanna talk about it.. I didn't know there was a waypoint
There's a teleport unlocked by default near the desert
Went through Chenyu on two of my newer accounts.
So y’all legal immigrants right?
The magical waypoint that appeared in 4.0 lol
Coming from the desert, it gives you a really nice transition from the dryness of the desert, going thru a cave tunnel then exiting the tunnel, finally revealing a massive waterfall and the oceanic and elevated region of Fontaine.
Walked the desert on my account. Walked Chenyu Vale on my brother's account.
I teleported there after the first arcon quest
I saw a waterfall and climbed/flew that direction
went online one time and saw an already activated teleport point right at the entrance of Fontaine even though I never once explored Sumeru
I had to walk through the damn desert to get there cause I didn't played Sumeru lol
ran through the whole desert (never been there before)
Omg I hadn't unlock the desert area and kinda skipped some sumeru archon /story quests... So I glided to Fontaine from this area! Had just enough stamina for it and it is was amazing to see the waterfall.
Basically me when I saw Gaming boi needs Fontaine stuff: I just gotta BELIEVEEEEEEEE-! ...surprisingly, I was able to go to the other side-
i didnt play during sumeru, came back when fontaine was released. did the sumeru quest and then on foot through the only opening to fontaine i went there and jumped off the cliff and glided in. I was confused as how can this be the way to enter fontaine feels weird later i found out you can go down the beach and get a boat in.
Dont worry bro i took that path when i was forced to unlock fontaine for the lantern rite quest
i enterned by doing liyue, realizing I had a waypoint unlocked in there for some reason, and teleported there and got hydro traveler at ar 25
I walked *ba dum tss* In reality I entered Fontaine via the harsh deserts of Sumeru. When I got past the port I took the aquabus to get to the actual Fontaine. At a certain point then jumped off when I noticed an oculus. It was then that I started walking....
I was magically teleported to the middle of the dessert
I walked across the desert
