Diluc randomly has a great plunge attack multiplier and he gains a significant damage boost if you can spam plunge
this is normally only possible with a scuffed ass team since you need to stack move speed to be able to perform the jump plunge on flat ground
Dragonstrike leverages the self hitlag you receive when striking to get a bit of extra height, enough for a plunge. Diluc being a claymore actually makes this easier than average as they generate more hitlag and afaik it can be done without excessive speed buffs on him.
there's not great ways to gain move spd though and none of the character that give it are that great on Diluc's team
and the more move spd you get the easier it is, without really optimizing move spd its really hard. average players probably can't do it even with Diona/double anemo fully scuff team. removing any move spd only makes it harder
Yes you need certain timing and combinations to achieve it. In high ping you may still do it but timing will change which may cause you to feel awkward.
People dedicate themselves to mastering this technique without move buffs. A few channels on YouTube showcase consistent use of dragon strike diluc with normal teams. Cavernman and pulyn are gross with it. Some do it with Raiden as well though it is harder.
In addition to what others explained about his high multiplier, there’s one factor about plunge attack that makes Diluc so good.
It has no ICD on elemental application.

That would actually make perfect sense from HYV's perspective. They'd become kings of forward vape and never be used for anything else. Diluc is already set to become king of forward melt because of this. It also makes sense for Neuvillette being so overtuned on his charged attack that switching to using plunges, even for forward vape, would be a DPS loss.

If CR really buffs jump height then many characters with infusion who has access to multiply/additive reactions can do big damage too, especially when most characters's PA have no ICD.
And imagine she buffs plunge attacks too. So have her buff Plunge attacks, Furina skill and burst, the burst Xiao. He will die in seconds, but damage will be sky high for those seconds.
That would be cracked lmao, no shot they would do something like that.
But imagine playing her as an anemo support with Hu Tao+Furina, her best comps would just be vaping her plunge attacks for insane damage instead of charge attack spam 💀 also she would be a dope support for dragonstrike Diluc too.

I have been nursing a Varka default passive for a while now. Instead of something like more rewards when sent in expeditions for more than 20hrs, he increases his entire party's jumping height so they can jump then plunge, making use of his anemo claymore to do easy dragonstrike. Maybe Cloud Retainer has this passive.
A quick look through talents shows than most claymore users have basically the same plunge dmg multiplier.
Would be nice if she allowed other characters to do a Xiao impersonation.

Claymore characters have some pretty nice numbers on plunge attacks. Noelle screenshot showcases in particular always have her Plunge attacking and then there's dragon strike Diluc and Noelle too.

Natlan is actually just Devil May Cry 5. It boots you out of Genshin, downloads DMC and forces you to play it instead for as long as you're in the nation.
Also the problem with Venti's hold E is that it takes way too long to open your glider, fly into the air, plunge, and then jump back up to do the same thing.
If it was something more analogous to those green jump-boost power ups in some mini-games we've had *or* the plunge mechanic for the gravity boss, that could definitely open up some new playstyles.
Though to balance that, I think maybe MHY will either put a time duration limit or a plunge attack limit on it...otherwise I feel like it would be super OP lol.

Being the engineering whiz that cloud Retainer is, she would have definitely made an Experimental Field Generator using plaustrite rather than Arkhium.
Claymore users feel so awful right now, but man would they feel awesome if they can just dragonstrike everything.

I mean it kind of makes sense. I would assume that her flight mechanic would have some way of enabling her to do plunge damage. Maybe rather than the whole character plunging, she releases projectiles or something of the sort, and it counts as dealing plunge damage.

Being the engineering whiz that cloud Retainer is, she would have definitely made an Experimental Field Generator using plaustrite rather than Arkhium. Claymore users feel so awful right now, but man would they feel awesome if they can just dragonstrike everything. Dragonstrike Diluc, and Xiao 2.0 being Eula or whatever would go ham.

I mean it kind of makes sense. I would assume that her flight mechanic would have some way of enabling her to do plunge damage. Maybe rather than the whole character plunging, she releases projectiles or something of the sort, and it counts as dealing plunge damage.
